[Completed] Installed custom ROM now I cant load a new one - XDA Assist

So i recently bought a BLU Life Play X and decided that I was gonna start playing around with custom ROMS and such, since BLU was only at Android 4.2 I decided to try and get a custom ROM and run 4.4, came across a video: "Android 4.4.2 for BLU Life Play by Kerdel Green"
which led me to using the aforementioned custom ROM to flash my device, seemed ok at first, even though my phone could no longer vibrate and camera flash was now gone....trouble started when I decided enough was enough and I need to flash a new recovery and a ROM cuz I found sumn more stable and also from BLU themselves...plugged in the USB cable and noticed the phone would not connect...if that wasnt bad enough i downloaded ES file explorer transferred the new recovery and ROM over to the internal memory (wondered why the SD card xfer kept failing but i think now that is also a side effect of this horrible ROM) after which i tried to use mobileuncle to load the new recovery, I am assuming the new recovery is loaded problem is I cant restart the phone, noticed when I hold power button restart isnt there either. So now I am stuck inside this ROM unable to restart in recovery mode and unable to load a new ROM, any advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
As there is no section on XDA for your device, you will need to ask for help here....
> General discussion > Questions and Answers
I see the are many models of your device also.... Please specify that when asking in above section.
Good luck!

Rom Manager says 2.3.3 V20d is old baseband

I am stuck in a strange problem. I have LG P500 which i have rooted with superoneclick and it is rooted now. I have 2.3.3 V20d (India) which i upgraded a year back.
Now the problem is that according to everyone mine is a new baseband but when i use Rom Manger to install custom recovery it shows my phone but in brackets it says 'old BB'..There were just two options, one was my phone and the other to click the box down if my device is not shown in the above list. I am stuck as can't find any solution and i am a newbie.I did ask some senior members and contributors/devs and waiting for the help,so i thought i will post it here also in case someone has faced this problem before.
Screen capture attached as well.....Just do not know where to go from here. Thanks a lot
MORE INFO: I just downloaded XDA ASSISTANT app to check and in software section it mentions about baseband also. The reading is: V07u-000-000 (MAR-23-2009). Can't say if it is of any help

and yes that is your phone lg p500 old bb, it doesn't matter, RomManager doesn't discover your phone, it is just a list that you have to choose

Are you sure it doesn't matter? But why would Rom Manager mention that? That means it is misleading the user and the user can think esp a newbie that his is a old baseband therefore he will not go with the new baseband and land in trouble.

My advice: don't use Rom Manager to install a custom recovery (or even a Rom); there have been many reports of people bricking their devices that way. A safer way of installing a recovery would be to use LGMDP or adb/fastboot -- instructions should be in a sticky somewhere; I can't search for it at the moment since I'm on mobile. Anyway, good luck.
Edit: Corrected typo -- it's LGMDP.

Well, I know that I spent a few days reading the sticky threads before I rooted my phone, but even then I managed to softbrick it for a couple of days (though it was sort of my fault, since I was using Linux at the time and all the instructions were for Windows, so I had to improvise). You shouldn't need to read every thread, though -- just the stickies should do.
Anyway, regarding Rom Manager, there's a warning in this thread (post #2) not to use it to install a recovery since the CWM version isn't compatible with our devices. As for a recovery you should use, I strongly recommend AmonRa 3.0.6 for a stable and bugfree recovery.
Edit: Just FYI, I installed my recovery using ADB and fastboot. It was quick and easy, the hardest part was installing the LG drivers and ADB (via installing the Android SDK).

No, don't use ROM Manager. 3 years ago when @grigtm used it, it was fine. These days, however, the CWM version in ROM Manager is incompatible with our device. You will risk bricking your phone if you use ROM Manager. Personally, I advise against it.
As for the Android Flash Recovery program that was linked earlier, I haven't used it personally, but it seems easy enough to use. Just
1. Download Android Flash Recovery
2. Install the LG drivers (it's packaged with the program in a subfolder called "USB")
3. Enable USB debugging on your phone (Settings > Applications > Development > check USB debugging)
4. Start your phone in Fastboot Mode.
5. Connect your phone to the PC.
6. Start Android Flash Recovery and follow the instructions.
Confused

This is the first step after rooting.Ok
Fastboot mode is Home + Power i just have to do that? Like in rom manager we could do backup of stock can we do all that also with this?
Actually i read at two places how to go step by step, when to backup, going into recovery and wiping & reset the phone then again into recovery and navigate to the zip file of the rom and extract. But i do not know if it is same with Android flash recovery.
New Words For Me...........OMG why i came here hehehe

There is absolutely no need to learn all of the language, especially when you're just starting out. It's enough in the beginning to just follow instructions, and only go into the details of the Android environment later as you gain more experience. No one becomes an expert overnight, after all.
As for the terms I used... FYI simply means "for your information", nothing to do with Android at all. ADB is the Android Debug Bridge, and like the name implies, it's like the "bridge" that connects your PC to your phone. Any desktop-based program or tweaking tool that communicates with your phone most likely uses ADB (such as SuperOneClick, which you used previously). Fastboot is one of the debugging modes available on the P500. There's no need to concern yourself with exactly what it does (and explaining it in detail is beyond the scope of this post); you simply need to know how to enter that mode when the instructions call for it. Basically, what I'm saying is that you don't need to understand things in detail, you just need to follow instructions. All the instructions you need are in the stickies; for now, ignore anything else that's not there (it'll only confuse you).
The LG Mobile United driver should work. If it doesn't simply install the other drivers.
Thanks alot for the concern

I really appreciate your concern for the safety of my phone. Thanks a lot.
Actually i was to read and follow the instruction as you told but since yesterday i was having headache coz of this and it was severe this morning and still can't open one eye heheehe Anyway i went with the Rom Manager coz of this even though it showed my phone as old BB.It was flashed in less than a minute. Then i switchd off the phone to enter into recovery by holding down Home Button + Volume Down + Power Button(button to switch off) but phone just reboots normally,no recovery set up. The thread i am following for instructions at XDA's How to's says i should not boot into recovery from thr rom manager and use only the buttons combination. But it is not happening, can you help in this?
Thanks again

[Completed] Soft Brick Sankey TAB 1010

Hello people, even though I'm a frequent user of xda, this is the first time I post an issue, so I'd like to thank in advance for all your help. Now, let's get straight to the point.
I have a Sankey TAB 1010. Unfortunately, this 'brand' doesn't have a site, and I couldn't find any data or ROMs anywhere (I'd say it's an orphan Tablet). Since it began to lag, and somehow Google Play Store suddenly disappeared, I decided to make a full nandroid backup, just in case something else happened. I rooted my device. Then I downloaded and installed CWM (v6.0.2.8) following these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189640. From cpuinfo, I got my device was an Allwinner A10, with 10 partitions. Hence, I downloaded that version and flashed it via adb.
My tablet booted into CWM and it got stuck there (bootloop). The problem is I can't install/wipe/backup/restore/mount anything. I could only mount my ext sd card and format it. Scripts at the bottom are: E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command; E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log; E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log; Error mounting /data, /emmc, /cache, /sdcard, and so on.
I've also tried many flashing tools: Odin, LiveSuit, Phoenix Card with no success. Obviously, since I don't know which ROM is compatible with my Tab, I've tried many generic ROMs (ICS 4.0.3).
I also attach my CWM log.
I know it's and old and cheap tablet, but instead of having a paperweight, and before buying a new tablet, I'd like to give it a last try, besides, while it worked, it performed really well.
Again, I really appreciate all your help.
Hi,
That was an unwise decision unfortunately. Flashing anything not made for your specific device can often destroy your device. The app simply took a best guess at what device you had and decided on Allwinner. But it isn't and surely the hardware is not identical with your device.
So now you're in a bind here. You likely need to reflash your factory firmware. Finding it will be the challenge. I'd contact the manufacturer and see if they have it, along with flashing instructions. And hope you haven't already bricked the device.
Unfortunately I can find nothing at all relevant on XDA, so you can ask here.... But with no mention of your device here, finding help will be hard. Again... Try the manufacturer, it may be your best chance.

Good luck!
---------- Post added at 09:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 PM ----------
Also, Odin and all those tools are for specific manufacturers devices.... They are not universal. And I don't know what roms and firmware you've tried, but again... Only the firmware for your device will help.
I'm not sure what all you may have partly flashed now, but it doesn't look good.
Please read Read read before doing anything in the future. And no matter what device you have.... Only flash software made for it... Nothing else.
Hopefully you can sort it out.

Hey, that was really fast. Thanks. I'll try to contact the manufacturer. As you said, it'll be a hard thing to do since it doesn't have a website and as you might have seen, this brand isn't really known around Internet. I've found a contact e-mail. I'll try to ask for support there (if Sankey still exists). Problem is I bought it in a trip, so going back to the store I bought it will be more expensive than buying a new device, besides, guarantee wasn't valid anymore.
I know it was an unwise decision. I only tried it because I experienced some issues with my tab (even after Factory reset). As I said before, Google Play Store dissapeared, and the OS became unstable and laggy. And since it wasn't the first time I did this stuff (I also have an SE Xperia Play in which I installed Gin2Kitkat rom with Lupus kernel), I decided to install a Custom Recovery and make a nandroid backup. It was an awful decison as you said.
It happens. It's how we learn too! ?
Good luck again!
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] [Q] CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP? LG G2 D800 having SERIOUS ISSUES/PROBLEMS

Hello all. I am a relatively new member to XDA and I have actually posted this issue on the thread to from which I downloaded the custom ROM I'm running. I am using and LG G2 D800 running [ROM][5.0][CM12][UNOFFICIAL][ALL-VARIANTS] CyanogenMod 12.0 For The LG G2, which I installed about a month ago. I originally rooted my phone using towelroot and installed TWRP custom recovery 2.7.0.0. I installed 3 or 4 other custom ROMS, using just my phone, that I honestly had no idea how to root using a computer. Since, then I have learned and acquired the tools I need to root from my computer, and after trying for quite some time, was able to find drivers for my phone that allowed my computer to recognized it.
There are 2 main problems that arose about a day after installing this ROM.
Firstly, after I had installed all of the pertinent files needed to flash the above ROM, I attempted to install the beta version of SU that the thread related to the above ROM said was necessary to keep root. Well, that version did not install correctly, though the ROM did install and is working about as well as an experimental version of a ROM can....
Once the ROM had been running for about a day or so, I realized how buggy it was and decided that it would be smart to go back to a more stable ROM as Lollipop was just around the corner(Or at least a stable CM12).
So, I went to go back into my TWRP custom recovery to do a wipe then install another ROM that I had backed up. When I attempted to do this, I realized the 2nd BIG PROBLEM, my phone had stopped recognizing my internal sd card, so I was unable to view any Backups I had previously saved. So, I started researching and found the the adb shell code to get my phone to recognize my sd card, but when I tried to use the command to do so, I was given the reply that su(part of the command) could not be found. So, I posted again, and was told,"you need to re-root." Well, that is good and well, but I have tried every method I can find to root my phone from my PC, but they are all for LG G2 D800 running some lesser version of android, never 5.0....
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and oh yeah, I was able to get the new Beta super SU file pushed onto my phone and saved in the remaining space it does recognize, but I couldn't actually install it to give me SU priveleges again. Basically, if I can re-root, I can get my SD card back, do a full wipe, then install another more stable ROM ASAP>
Thanks again, so so very much. Please, Please help me get this phone working. I'm feeling more and more like a fool everyday knowing Im paying for a phone I can barely even use....
Happy Holidays,
Thad
Hi,
Asking in the rom thread is a good idea. If you don't find answers there, then you can ask for help in this dedicated help thread in your device section,
> LG G2 > G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > [HELP THREAD][Noob Friendly] LG G2 Ask any question
XDA Assist is here to help navigate the site, not for support. ?
Good luck!

Then i tried ACS Updater and it does nothing but reboot my device and I still have the original stock recovery. I do not have access to a computer so i cant flash it that way either. Ok, I'm pretty good on flashing ROMs and using TWRP. But I was thinking of trying a 5.1.1 Rom, I am rooted running just the stock Rom 6.01 currently. I have a SM-N900W8, so I assume I'll likely have to get the modem too depending on what ROM I choose.
My only concern is going backward, I don't know what kernel I might need to flash? Should be able to keep the answer simplistic in explanation, I just need the warnings and a basic checklist of what to do when going backward. And if I can complete this using just TWRP or whether I need to flash something with Odin or whether Flashfire might work.
Thanks in advance. Sorry I'm not a guy who has time to learn code. I try to donate if I'm going to use someone's work though. Just nice to have my phone run fast and smooth and be able to tinker...

Hi
What do you mean by 'going backward'? Do you wanna downgrade your device from Marshmallow to Lollipop? If yes, refer to this thread.
Hit Thanks if I Helped You!!!

Ok, if going back to a earlier version of Android, then flash the factory full ROM of that version through Odin, then flash custom ROM of same version. Got it, thanks. Sounds like the easiest way.

Stuck N915G
Am using a N915G , it was rooted with CW recovery , since yesterday it would go in restart loop , so i went into recovery and did a reset , still the loop would not go , so i took into a service center they tries kies and it would intall lollipop but half way through it will show " erasing " and then go back to boot loop , now at this point when i re checked the phone there is no CW recovery , so i tried Odin with Marshmallow to flash the system , it shows PASS but during installation " System updating .. erasing " then goes back to reboot so i flashed new set of Pit files , but still the phone stays in boot loop , vibrates then goes off to loop , what am i doing wrong
Won't power on after normal power off.
Hi,
i mean; when i turn of the phone with normal shutdown menu, device power off normally.
But when i attempt to turn on device again, it won't turn on. nothing happens when i press or hold the power button.
only the way to turn on again, "plug a charge cable or usb cable"
after it detects the charge, and shows charging. after then i can turn on the device normal.
but, not possible to turn on without plug the cable once.
so; what can be my device's problem. (there is no another problem) except fast battery drain.
my opinion; humidity damage? or something like that.?
can any oxidation causes this problem?
please reply for help.
thanks.

Hello, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (N915T) Tmobile way back in 2014, I have since then forgot how to root again. I know that my phone is still rooted because I have SU.
My phone specs right now:
Bootloader: N915TUVU1ANJL
OS Version: KitKat 4.4.4
CPU: ARMv7-A (armeabi-v7a)
Kernel version: 3.10.0-2990579
I saw a post here in XDA about new Custom ROM (7.1.2 AOKP Nougat) and I would like to install custom ROM, and reading the instructions it states that it requires Bootloader 6.0.1 and Modem. I have no idea how to install bootloader and modem up to 6.0.1 on my phone. Kindly please guide me how to identify my current bootloader and how to upgrade up to 6.0.1. Thanks!
Hello,
I am using Odin v3.12.7 and I tried to select (twrp-3.0.2-0-tbltetmo.img) from Odin, but is not selectable because it does not have (.md5) or (.tar), where can I find a TWRP in those file formats?
What custom rom can i flush with my note edge sc-01g docomo japan,
Corrupt microsdcard and otg devices
Hi,
This is about my note edge N915G and what will follow has strangely happened with every kind of rom for the device stock rooted, aokp, customized stock, and slimroms.
What happens is
scard shows as corrupted after busybox/magisk7viper mods I mean the card is fine when I install busy box and magical and viper then in stall viper drivers and it is still good but when I reboot to activate the viper mods my card shows as corruption. I another thing that happens is when the card shows as corrupt, I I can try another card and still shows corrupt and strangely even the devices I connect through otg all show as corrupt. Ii think it is busy box which is needed for viper that does it, but am not sure.
Another guess is that maybe some embedded file on the phone has been deleted or corrupted and that is causing me the trouble. I have installed the Enhanced rom this evening and had set it up with closed root and magical. I it was all fine. I then I installed busy box using smart install and after that opened viper fx 2.5 and viper xhi=fi and each prompted to install drivers and they installed successfully and advised a reboot. It is after reboot that I opened my music player and found no songs which was be aise it is showing my card as corrupt. I strangely even if I reverse the process and uninstall viper drivers then viper apps and finally busybox it still does not change the status of the card. It is either that I install the rom again dirty or restore a system backup that was made while there were no add ons.
I would really appreciate if anyone can help figure this out as I do have the workaround of restoring system but it is tedious as I have to install all apps etc.
I would like to reiterate that this is not the kind of issue associated with Samsung phones in general where they are said to kill microsdcards. This is not the case and the card works flawlessly in a different phone which I did to check. My laptop too has no issues with same card it is a Samsung evo 64 gb card I'm using. Maybe they key is that even other as cards whether I put them in the card slot or in a card reader for otg it shows any card I use as corrupt and even my otg drives show up as corrupt. I think it is something I have never seen happening yet.
Thanks for reading this and for your suggestions and advice. I will look forward to your thoughts and inputs, knowledge and experience.

At&t Samsung Note Edge N915A 6.0.1
Hi I'm a noob. Last phone I "jailbroke" was a IPhone 3gs. Could you link me in the right direction to root my Samsung note edge from At&t 6.0.1 a list of procedures would be great, also a list of downloads. Anything & Everything I need on my phone or my Laptop to complete the process. All input would be appreciated. I just paid a large chunk of $ to Samsung to have my screen replaced and I am the original owner of my device which I paid a lot of money for in 2014, so I would hate to brick my device. Thanks
