Hello
You are a specialist in what you're doing. Yesterday I received my OnePlusOne. Today I noticed a dark stain especially visible on a light background. The stain is also visible on the screen switchable. This look like something will be beetwen lcd and digitizer. Also there is not a death pixel. What can I do?.
Claim an RMA from OnePlus and get it replaced.

Hi,
Just for fun I've put mu phone under UV light. I have some slightly yellow backlight bleeding and thought it might solve the yellow tint of backlight bleeding.
I don't have the yellow band, just some yellowish backlight bleeding.
And then I at once saw this:
http://i.imgur.com/CqycUe0.jpg
Can anyone explain what's the rectangular part of the screen that is lighter than the rest of the screen? Or is it the glue that's everyone is talking about?
EDIT: my theory actually worked and no more yellowish backlight bleeding. It's still there (and only visible from a certain angle), but it's not yellow anymore. It's now white
I'm using franco kernel btw, so the screen tint is whiter than with standard kernel. This is when I noticed the yellowish backlight.
Is that the screen on with a black background? It looks so centered and rounded that I have a hard time believing it's not some sort of picture.
(I am not calling you a liar, just saying that it looks strange)
I could assume that your glue has been cured by UV but it has not spread across the whole screen yet. Maybe try putting it under the light again and check if that makes a difference?
The screen was off. Even worse: the phone was off....
That's exactly why I was surprised to see that. And why I asked here.
There is also nothing visible on the screen. The brightness is equal and no discolorations are visible. So I'm not worried about it. Was just curious.
I saw it the minute I've put it under UV light. Didn't change anything after 15 mins (except my yellowish backlight LED's became white) and in general the screen looked whiter)
On another forum I've read it could be some kind of oil to protect the LCD from the digitizer. Not sure it is but could actually be...
Could be glue but the shape is too strange for that.
Another guess is that they like sticked some kind of sticker on the glass (coming from manufaturer) and they remove the sticker without cleaning and then it leaves this kind of residu...
It's only visible under UV light, that's the interesting part.
Hello guys, i just noticed today this hairline tiny black strip on my display, thought it was dust but it didn't wipe off. My phone is a week old and i never really had a device with defective pixels before so i can't really tell what this is. I ran the defective pixels fix videos for 30 minutes but that didn't help. Sorry for the image quality, i don't have a decent camera to capture those tiny pixels.
I also noticed that i have light bleeding from all edges when i view the device from an angle, is that normal for the nexus 5?
Could it be that there are gaps between the glass and the display that allow dust to go beneath the glass, and this is just a dust particle under the glass?

The light bleeding is normal I've seen on all Nexus 5 i have owned, the "Dead Pixel" is a little hard to judge , but in my opinion as its not solid square(s) i think it may be dust or debris.
I had purple spots start showing up on my first one. That doesn't look too bad but it would bug me too.
Do you think that more dust could get in if that's the case? I have a local warranty and i'm leaving this country after a month, if the issue won't grow bigger than this, then i may just live with it as i don't think LG would give me a replacement unit here.
Not sure if it would be an issue for them as the phone isn't dust proof,I'm no way saying its cool as it would annoy some people. I guess best thing is contract them and see what they say mate

It looks like dust to me, but to know it for sure I recomend you to take it to a LG Center.
They may not give you a replacement unit, but at least you will know what the problem is.
Hi Everyone,
I recently bought a Oneplus one and am a bit disappointed with the display. Besides having the yellow part at the bottom, when I look a little at it at an angle I see the screen tint to whitish almost blue and this effect increases as my eyes level to the surface, this is best seen by looking from the right corner of the screen with a black background. Is this normal? I only need my head to be slightly away from the screen to notice it. Also I notice light bleed from the top.
Let me know if this is just an effect of the LCD display and if its normal. I've used amoled displays before this.
Regards,
Bobbie

I don't have this issue on mine. Honestly though, why is it such an issue? The scenario you're describing would just never happen in the normal use of the phone, nobody looks at their phone on such an angle when using it.

Hi Heisenberg,
Thanks for the quick reply. I do notice it during normal use otherwise it wouldn't be a problem. The phone is on the left side of my computer now and as i'm looking at it I notice the whitish blue tint while using a black background.

Fair enough. Dunno what to say though, I have two of these and neither of them have a tint when viewed on any angles. I initially thought my screen protector might be why but that can't be the case because one of them doesn't have a protector on it.

Mine does have a screen protector on it that was already on it when I received it, could it cause some kind of tinting? I only see it from an angle not if i just look down from the top to the bottom of the phone, then it looks perfect.

It's possible. Those films that come already on the phone aren't actually screen protectors as such, well they're not meant to be used for an extended period of time anyway, they're really just to give light protection during the shipping process. I'd recommend you remove that one and get yourself a good tempered glass protector. The Nillkin 9H is exceptional and it's quite cheap too (less than $10).
Hi guys,
I have replaced the screen in my nexus 5 twice now. I purchased the screens from Amazon. The first screen on white backgrounds I would kind of see a square image on the screen in white. It kind of looked like the outline of the battery. It also had a few white spots on the screen. I tried loosening some of the screws but it didn't help. I contacted the seller and he recommended another replacement. He sent out another screen plus digitizer and frame.
The new screen arrived and I put it in. This screen is a lit better. I know only get 3 tiny white spots about the size of the screws in the nexus 5. Two look like they are where the battery would be inside the phone. The third is about 3 quarters of the way up the screen in the middle and slightly to the left. Why does this keep happening? Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this?
One thing I have noticed is in the dark with the screen on around the sides of the phone in places I can see slivers of light shining around the screen. It seams that the tape that the screen provider used was not sticky enough. Could this be what is causing the white spots? The screen seams firmly attached at the top and bottom just the sides. I heated it up with a blow dryer and held the screen down till it cooled. It slowly goes back to the way it was.
Thanks,
Rocky
Light bleeding from the edges of the frame in a dark environment is not uncommon with 3rd party screens. Putting on a case can help a lot.
As for the white spots, it may be a manufacturing defect that has nothing to do with the way you assembled the phone.
So there is nothing that can be done about the white spots? I don't understand how both screens did this. Seams like there is a very high failure rate. From comparison and matching numbers s to the stock digitizer the replacement seams to be a stock digitizer and frame. The white spots are annoying.
It's possible that both screens came from the same production run. I used screens from aliexpress and only one had a bit of light bleed around the frame. Once I put on a case, you could not see the light bleed.
None of the replacement screens had any dead or stuck pixels or hot spots.
Hi all, the aim of this thread is to know how widespread the "RED SCREEN/TINT" issue is India & whether the software update fixes it.
The software update doesn't fix it right off the bat. You get additional control over how you want to tune the RGB and edges of the screen. You need to find the right balance which works for you.
My S8+ doesn't have a red tint over the whole screen but it had slight tint over the edges. However, by tuning my edges, I was able to remove it.
You need to slide the RGB bars to find what works best for you.
I know this is kinda murky solution when we are paying top bucks for a flagship but the nature of this huge screen is such that it is susceptible to some degree of tints when looking at different angles.
IMO, the pros outweigh the cons. If you're still not happy with the display, you can return it and get a new one. But be prepared to face the same issue again!

Lucky you. I had some red tint on both the edges but the new slider after the update fixed it!
In my case, there is a slight tint over the edges and on the screen when viewed at different angles. I have filed a replacement and ill get it by monday.

This is what worked for me.
Post downloading the OTA for the red tint issue, i moved the RED slider to 50% and for Screen Edge Colour Balance, i turned the slider all the way to the extreme right where it says Cool.
That pretty much fixed the red tint issue for me across the edges. I didn't have a red tint except on the edges to begin with. Even with the Blue Light Filter set to ON, i no longer have a red tint issue along the edges.
