SIM card quesiton - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Just curious but what sim card size does the Verizon M8 use? I can't really seem to find that info anywhere and want to make sure before I get one as I'll be swapping between this and my current Note 3. Thanks for any info in advance.

Short and sweet. Nano Sim.

Thank you. Looks like I'll have to make a visit to a Verizon corporate store to get my current sim swapped out to a nano sim then if I so desire to use say my Note 3 get some kind of adapter. :good:

Myself I got mine mailed to me..it only took 2 days just a heads up. The VZW corporate store is on the worse intersection in Ann arbor so its like a 2 hour trip an I only stay 15 miles away. Smh

If your current sim is a micro there's a lot of templates available that you can download and use to cut your micro sim down to nano size.

Depends on what sized sim card it uses, as of right now I believe its supposed to use a nano sim same as iPhone 5/5s/5c .... your S3 uses a micro sim. It would be best to get a new nano sim (if it really uses this type) but it can be cut down

Crap. I didn't know that. Cutting the nano sim looks more difficult, and sanding it thinner as well. PITA.
I don't even know if my carrier has nano sims for purchase.
Att offers nano Sims and they are free from all att corporate stores. If you goto a privately owned store they might not stock them and if they do, they will charge you (probably between $10-$20)

According to the (leaked) service manual, the Nexus 5 will use a micro SIM, not a nano SIM.

That's great news! I'd much prefer to just pop in my current sim and be good to go. The service providers here are dumber than rocks, and I'm positive that if I asked for a nano sim, they'd have no idea what I was talking about.

[Q] How did you activate your Maxx Dev Ed on Verizon?

Just got my Maxx Dev Ed direct from Motorola.
Came with nano SIM preinstalled.
Coming from a RAZR M with micro SIM so must activate nano SIM that came with Maxx.
Worried about losing my unlimited data on VZW as I have read elsewhere sometimes happens if you aren't careful about activating a new SIM.
Anyone who has done his personally and successfully please share the exact steps you took.
Thanks so much!
You can just trim down the micro sim to fit in the nano sim slot.
What about going the other way I want to use my nano Sim in my RAZR hd is this possible?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've had mixed success in the past with cutting SIM cards, even with great precision.
If anyone has successfully activated a new sim without losing their unlimited data plan on Verizon, please share how you did it.

You should not have a problem doing that if you use a "nano to micro SIM tray adapter" readily avialable on Amazon or eBay.

Okay was afraid to involve Verizon but I called them and lucked out with a tech support rep who knew what they were doing and got me all set up on the new SIM without making any changes to my account (read: unlimited data lol).
Had tried the website but it was asking for some authorization thing to add a new line even though I clearly had selected on a prior menu that I wanted to activate a new device on the same line.
Hope this helps others and thanks again for the responses..

To be honest, I think that the phone requires one of the new NFC SIMs in order to be activated on Verizon anyway. Cutting down the older micro-SIM probably would not have worked. That's the way it was when the phone first came out, anyway.

Works fine on a cut down Sim

Just pop into a corporate store if it's not working online. They can get you a new nano NFC SIM card and activate it for free, and the way Iconic works requires the rep to really go out of their way to change your data plan. Policy is only to change it if you've purchased a new phone with either a new contract or on Verizon Edge. Otherwise it's just an ESN swap. Have them set you up with Isis too (if you haven't already) so that both of you get something out of it, even if you don't end up using it.
I would not recommend SIM cutting, especially given how easy it is to get a hold of a new nano NFC SIM or to just use the one that came with the phone.
Dude. You paid for your phone. They can't take your data.
Get isis! You will get $50 free for signing up. Plus $15 off $25. Plus $1 off every contact less payment!

man all you gotta do is go to activate phone type in the new numbers and turn your new phone on with the sim card inserted that easy took me like 3 minutes

[Q] Transfer sim card from old phone to new phone

This might sound simple but I've searched and couldn't find anything. I currently own an unlocked Nexus 4 on the cricket network which holds a micro sim. I just got an unlocked Xperia Z3 compact which uses a nano sim. I want to stay in the cricket network. I know you can cut the micro into a nano. However I'm not sure if it is possible to do this and have cricket recognize it on their network. Do i need to purchase a new nano sim from cricket or can I just pop in the old cut micro-to-nano sim? I don't want to cut it and then have it not work and then not be able to put it back in the Nexus 4 and be without a phone while waiting for the new nano sim. Does this make sense? Again, this may be elementary but I just can't find anything online regarding this. And if there is a thread about this already it would be much appreciated if someone could point me in that direction. Thanks

The only reason it wouldn't work is if you damaged the SIM when cutting it down. I'm guessing they could do this for you at the store, and they might have an adapter as well. If not, you can get a SIM adapter kit for a couple bucks off eBay (USA seller), or for $4-5, a cutter with adapters.
I just ordered my Z3 Compact and am also on Cricket. I've be reading about people having good luck just taking it into the store and telling them it can use LTE. I'm hoping it's as simple as that.

Galaxy S6 Dual sim adapter

Another new phone (for me) another dual sim adapter...
This has been helpful for people in the past so i'll offer my dual sim experience with my new S6.
For any of you interested in getting a dual sim adapter for your S6 I can say that I've not had any issues with the Magicsim I purchased for my Galaxy S6 (well actually thats a lie as the first one i was sent didn't work with my EE sim but they sent out a replacement and thats working perfectly).

Looks like they do one for the S6 EDGE too.
s6 has dual sim version and two sim cards online at the same time with dual standby and always on options

True, but if you have the standard version is a great device :good:
Awesome, thanks! ... Getting one now
So this works only 1 sim card at a time i believe?
Also how does texting work? Is there 2 seperate applications for texting or does all the texts go into one app mixed up.
Also does the phone need to be carrier unlocked before this will work?

Yep its essentially for SIM switching so only 1 SIM is 'active' at a time, which is exactly what i need as I cross a country boarder every day for work and so have a different SIM for each country to avoid roaming fees.
I set SMS's to save to SIM which means that i only see that SIMs SMS's when active
Yep, the phone would need to be unlocked i'd guess (although mine was never network locked)... hope this helps!
This is pretty neat may buy one.

Two Sims in one phone is cool, I owned dual sim phones in the past but with my S6 now I use apps. Virtual sim and flyp. You guys should check them out. They work great like real dual sim.

Sim card question?

I just got the 1+6 coming from 1+1. I looked up the Sim card size of both, the 1 said micro the 6 is nano (foolish me didn't actually look in my 1) so I bought a new sim card straight talk pack and open the 1 after buying new sim to see I had a nano in there all along, haha the 1 can take micro or nano.
So my question is now I have 3 other simcards from straight talk, att TMobile Verizon can each of those sim cards by used to activate a different phone in the future?

I bought one of those packs. Activated mine with the AT&T sim and activated my son's phone with the T-Mobile sim. I personally wouldn't bother with the Verizon. The speeds straight talk gets from them sucks.

Thank you. That's what I figured but wasn't sure if activating one would void the others somehow, and agreed the Verizon card is in the trash, thanks again
