Just got my Maxx Dev Ed direct from Motorola.
Came with nano SIM preinstalled.
Coming from a RAZR M with micro SIM so must activate nano SIM that came with Maxx.
Worried about losing my unlimited data on VZW as I have read elsewhere sometimes happens if you aren't careful about activating a new SIM.
Anyone who has done his personally and successfully please share the exact steps you took.
Thanks so much!
You can just trim down the micro sim to fit in the nano sim slot.
What about going the other way I want to use my nano Sim in my RAZR hd is this possible?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've had mixed success in the past with cutting SIM cards, even with great precision.
If anyone has successfully activated a new sim without losing their unlimited data plan on Verizon, please share how you did it.

You should not have a problem doing that if you use a "nano to micro SIM tray adapter" readily avialable on Amazon or eBay.

Okay was afraid to involve Verizon but I called them and lucked out with a tech support rep who knew what they were doing and got me all set up on the new SIM without making any changes to my account (read: unlimited data lol).
Had tried the website but it was asking for some authorization thing to add a new line even though I clearly had selected on a prior menu that I wanted to activate a new device on the same line.
Hope this helps others and thanks again for the responses..

To be honest, I think that the phone requires one of the new NFC SIMs in order to be activated on Verizon anyway. Cutting down the older micro-SIM probably would not have worked. That's the way it was when the phone first came out, anyway.

Works fine on a cut down Sim

Just pop into a corporate store if it's not working online. They can get you a new nano NFC SIM card and activate it for free, and the way Iconic works requires the rep to really go out of their way to change your data plan. Policy is only to change it if you've purchased a new phone with either a new contract or on Verizon Edge. Otherwise it's just an ESN swap. Have them set you up with Isis too (if you haven't already) so that both of you get something out of it, even if you don't end up using it.
I would not recommend SIM cutting, especially given how easy it is to get a hold of a new nano NFC SIM or to just use the one that came with the phone.
Dude. You paid for your phone. They can't take your data.
Get isis! You will get $50 free for signing up. Plus $15 off $25. Plus $1 off every contact less payment!

man all you gotta do is go to activate phone type in the new numbers and turn your new phone on with the sim card inserted that easy took me like 3 minutes

well i need an at&t micro sim card so i can boot up my phone and it will ask me to enter the unlock code that tmobile provided me so i can use my phone for at&t now.
Get a sim card cutter and adapter from amazon/ebay. they are like 2 bucks.
Use a sim cutter to make it into a micro sim. Or if you want to risk cutting it yourself then you can do it too. I did that with my t-mobile sim card and cut it with a pair of scissors . Why would you use the One S on AT&T when you can get the One X running on their network. I am a little confused what you are trying to do though
cut it yourself or go onto the carrier website and order one
here in the UK the sim cards are free

Amazon sells AT&T pre paid sims, but you'll probably end up having to buy some minutes with it. But, then at least you can verify it works once unlocked.

I'm on a TMO plan. I got an unlock code, went on ebay and got an AT&T micro sim for $3 shipped. Swapped sims and entered unlock code. Removed the AT&T sim and reinserted the TMO sim.

Could anyone who has used an unlock code to successfully unlock their phone take a look at this thread and see if you can help?
We are close to getting a free sim unlock hack for all but need a few contributors for testing purposes.
Thanks!
Guys,
I am looking for a pre-paid SIM card that is compatible with Verizon Motorola Droid MAXX. I just got the phone for free today and will terminate my contract because $63.00 per month is excessive.
Let me know! Thanks!
Unlock Droid Maxx
Yes, that's where the SIM is.
I suppose we should clarify what a phone being "SIM locked" means. To me it means that the phone is locked to SIMs from a particular carrier. In other words, if the Droids were SIM locked, they would only accept Verizon SIMs.
No, the phone is not SIM locked. There are plenty of reports of people who are using the Droid Ultra and Maxx on T-Mobile, AT&T, and in foreign markets. If you put a SIM in and it asks for an unlock code, the phone is locked to a carrier. If it doesn't, then the phone is not carrier locked. Since the Droids are marketed as global phones, we know that they are, by design, not SIM locked.

Can I use any carriers SIM card in my Droid MAXX phone? According to the post above, Droid MAXX is advertised as "Global" means it will work with CDMA/GSM phone, no?
Thanks.
Anyone?
The only Sim from what I have read through the forums is this

Hey, I know this is a bit older of a question. But I thought I would put it out there for anyone else looking.
I currently use a Verizon LG G2 and I have a 4G Page Plus sim card in it that is amazing! I would recommend anyone at least try Page Plus. They use Verizon towers has LTE and all you need is a Verizon 4G phone and a Page Plus SIM card (That can be bought on ebay for $5 or so)
I pay $30 a month for 1200 Minutes, 3000 Texts, and 500 MB of data. But they do have other plans.
I help a lot of friends and family move to Page Plus. So if anyone has any questions I would be glad to help...
Tmobile prepaid works just fine.
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
any GSM prepaid will work anywhere in the world with this phone.
Depends on what you want and who covers you well.
If you're in a good t-mobile area, then go with them. BUT heres the thing. If you're in a LTE area, it'll work great. If you're in a 4G area without LTE, check to see if you're in a "refarmed" market. If you are, then you'll get 4g/3g on 1900. If not, you'll be stuck on 2g data which sucks.
If verizon had great coverage, and lets assume you cancel without owing, then page plus is a good option...
What is your typical monthly usage?
63 bucks is actually pretty cheap for a typical verizon user.
I have a Verizon LG G2 which has a micro SIM. I just got a Verizon Droid Turbo with a Nano SIM.
I have the working SIM in the LG. I know I can cut down the Micro SIM to Nano size. However, I'd like to have both SIMs have the same data on them. Is that doable without any equipment purchase? Of course I could just go to Verizion, but they would find some way to charge me something.
I was thinking there might be was some software app that could read the SIM info off the LG phone, I then write it back to the Turbo.
Anyhow, I'm a noob open to suggestions.

You could use this tutorial? http://androidadvices.com/import-sim-contacts-android-phone/
Don't forget to "thank" me if I was helpful
I have a problem, I don't like the maxx anymore, the new ones are out and I still don't have lollipop. Now to the question- I am still under a contract and still paying the phone off, if I buy the maxx 2 or nexus 5x can I just activate it right away or do I have to wait till my contract is up? I would be replacing my maxx
If it's verizon you just go to your online account to activate or manage phones and enter the phone and sim numbers to the new phone, same as if you lost your old phone, but a new one and assign the sim card to it. Simple
You don't even have to register the new phone, just pull the sim out of the old phone and stick it into the new one since the micro sim in the Maxx is the standard currently.

what Jonny Wong said will work as long as the device uses the same size sim
Maxx has a nano SIM fwiw.
Is everyone sure that will work though? If I take the sim out of my maxx and put it into the nexus it will definitely work? I though each sim was locked to a certain phone. @Johnny Wong @smokyngordo
it will work without even having to go to a store. They take the exact sim @JH1108. a sim is NOT locked to a phone.

Yes, took the sim out of my Maxx and put it right into my iPhone 6s, no issues.
My wife and I got the Google Fi BOGO deal. My wife is staying on Fi, but work pays for a Verizon line for myself. So we bought both phones, and are going to pay for 1 month of Fi for my line, and keep hers going on Fi. Phones just arrived. Wondering what order I should do things to bootloader unlock & root. Hearing some of the horror stories with switching carriers, so I wanted to see if someone has the correct order I should use to do my unlocks, swapping out SIM, etc. I already got charged for the phone, so it shouldn't be carrier locked.
Do you already have an active Verizon SIM? If so, you just put it into your phone and you're good to go.

I didn't buy from Fi but Google Store. I had an active VZW SIM in my Pixel 2 XL and popped it into my 3 XL, simple as that. Unlocking the bootloader and rooting is still possible after using a VZW SIM. Only the IMEIs sold by VZE/BBY should be locked/disabled.
Unlocking the bootloader wipes the device, so it's usually best to do that first at a minimum before setting anything up so you don't have to set everything up twice.

Yes, my current phone is Verizon, so I have an active SIM. Do I need to talk to Verizon to get it to work on their network? Or just swap cards and good to go?
