Go to settings and then more networks. Then click on Mobile Networks. Unchecked mobile data. You will get warning that WiFi is now needed for data.

easy-quick fix, just run your finger down from the top to pull open the notification shade, then deselect the 'mobile data' round button on the top. it should grey out to indicate that it is off. when you're out of wifi range, just reselect it to enable lte again.

Hi, I am having problems with weak signal at home. I had a S3 tmobile before. The signal was weak but not that weak that i can't use. But now I am using ATT S4. I am having alot of problems with weak signal. I can't call out. I can't receive calls. It is frustrating. Anyone having this kind of problems? What did you do?

I did change the AWS to tmobile already, the same thing.
Try going into settings > connections > more networks > mobile networks > default setup > tap manual, then choose tmobile. Reboot. This worked for me.
You must just have horrible signal. The radio on the s4 isn't the best either. I get better signal with my s3.

Hey, I just tried. I am getting another bar, 2. I was getting less than 1 bar, or the dreaded circle.
I had some issues with connection and changed the epc to fast.tmobile.com
Is there an options for you all who are having problems with t-mobile's network to flash another modem? I know all of the modems don't support AWS right now, that is why I asked.

Funny, I have TMobile Note2s that get poor reception on ATT. Maybe there is more to the modem setup for each carrier.
I also have issues with bad signal at home, but it definitely area related. Get full bars and lte around the corner

Why just not sell your i337 and buy T-Mobile's variant?
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a "WCDMA/LTE Only" mode on the Nexus 5?
I basically want to stop the phone dropping to 2G. Recently LTE has been made available here and before that I used "WCDMA only" and it worked fine but that is no longer a viable option since I want to use LTE.
Thanks in advance
Can't you just switch off 2g dialing 3646?

I do, but I can use 3G to do this. I mean I don't want it to drop to EDGE.
The reason is, in Ireland the network provider Three does not have a 2G network and roams to Vodafone when it 3G isn't available. It then will not automatically change back to 3G. You need to manually select the Three network again.
you have no option then. you have either lte only, which gets you data and no phone calls, or you have lte/gsm. on gsm/lte, itll switch to whatever is your best signal.
Wouldn't it be easier to choose the operator manually?

That's what I thought. I was just hoping there was some custom software of some sort that would solve my problem.

It still jumps to vodafone when there is poor signal, even when manually selected. If there was a way of forcing it to stay with one operator or disable roaming completely, then that would do but there doesn't seem to be an option.

Are you sure there's no "national roaming" setting?. I really thought there was.

Not on the Nexus 5, as far as I'm aware. I think it just disables data anyway. I need to be able to disable roaming completely or restrict to WCDMA and LTE.

When looking in SlimKat (admittedly not stock), it is @fergietime suggests, national data roaming and would still allow the phone to roam to another operator when there was no signal on the existing operator - just with no data. However, I am not seeing a problem with that. It only roams nationally when there is 0 signal for voice on your operator?

Yes, but it happens me quite often due to certain places that I pass through. My operator does not have a 2G network at all so roams once it drops below 3G. The main problem is, I need to manually search for networks and select my network to get it back to 3G/4G. It's a network issue that Three Ireland refuse to acknowledge. It has been happening for 4 years at least. I am just looking for a workaround.

I see.
I am also on Three (UK though) so also have no 2G coverage. and yes, when it fails over to 2G (Orange in UK) it is a pain to get it back.

It's a very frustrating issue. It actually NEVER jumps back to Three and it changes to Vodafone nearly every time I go inside a Tesco or somewhere like that. I then have to search and wait for it to find networks so I can select Three. The only time it seems to work correctly is when using a device bought from Three or a Three rom, which obviously for the Nexus 5 doesn't exist. And even then people complain about it so it's a bit hit and miss.
Does anyone know if it is possible to add a "WCDMA/LTE Only" mode into a rom?
Has anyone noticed the loss of Internet connection when you are on a phone call? I just got my Note Edge on Verizon and I can not be on the phone and use the Internet or anything else that needs a data connection. And the notification panel shows I no longer have a 4G-LTE connection but instead it shows 1X when on a phone call.

The note edge doesn't come shipped with that function.
Well that kinda stinks. I have got used to that function from my previous phones, the Note 2 and Note 3. Not to mention I always made fun of a buddy of mine that uses iPhone and he has never had that function until he got his new iPhone 6 (maybe the iPhone 5s). Oh well, guess I will have to make do.
That's the way it's supposed to work for now. You just have to hope and pray that VOLTE eventually comes to your area.
don't feel bad. us sprint users have the same problem. i think the gsm phones do it but cdma doesn't
Whats funny is my Sprint Note 3 was able to do VOLTE. But not the Note Edge.
Only thing like that now is if your connected to Wi-Fi you can use surf the web and talk at the same time.

yes the sprint note 3 was a different lte. it wasn't a spark device. all phones that use spark are like that. no voice and data at the same time. funny how the "better" things that we move to don't always seem better
I found out if you go to settings then advanced calling and subscribe to advanced calling you can talk and surf the Web at the same time without WiFi.

Yeah noticed that too. Coming from a HTC One M8 I was really disappointed in that not working ;(
I've also noticed what seems to be antenna issues, wifi drops A LOT! and blue tooth cuts in and out in my truck.
Not sure if it's software or if I need to swap out for a new device due to faulty hardware.

Go to advance calling in setting. Click the button to on. Then go to your app drawer. Make sure My Verizon signed in. Power off your device. Turn your device back on. Make a 1-800-call to try it out. Problems fixed
I don't understand why Verizon does this. But they do. And to give you heads up. If your on the phone and surfing the net. Your going to eat more data. Your voice calling. Becomes data calling.. And this will only work on 4g.

Did sprint install the Carrier Optimization on these Note 5s? Also was carrier aggregation turned ON for these phones. My says not setup or something like that.
I got my MSL and found that MSL is turned on even thought it says CA-Not Config in *#0011#. I dont think these suckers have the sprint connection optimizer.

Looks like there is something called a smart switch. that is about. Connections manager had this whole disclaimer. I dont see that anymore.
wording is a little switched around but does look like connection optimizer.
Smart switch I believe is something used when switching devices

Yes the Not 5 is capable of Sprint Carrier Aggregation. Thanks.
I do not see any option for 'Smart Switch' or anything like that under Wifi settings...I am on the Sprint Note5.. kinda trippy
##data# shows that CA is enabled, so I suppose this phone does support carrier aggregation.

This happened to me on Verizon and it was cause I had disabled Verizon login service. So if you disabled any bloatware from sprint you can start there.
Other guy has it 100%, it's one of the sprint services. I disabled it after the whole update from package disabler pro wiped out my disabled list. Had to go back through and enable stuff one by one until it works.
I believe it was sprint hub...but might be remembering wrong.

Just noticed that's what it says here also, haven't noticed if that's the case though. I'll have to look at my wife's phone(pixel xl) later to see what it says, cause I know that was doing wifi calling whenever I was home.
