Hi All, Earlier I used to connect my pendrive to MOTO G, but after the update of 4.4.4, It doesn't show any files, I have tested using various applications!
When I contacted customer care, One of them stated me to install Astro File manager and check. It also doesnt show. Another One Stated that after 4.4.4 updated it stopped OTG Support!!!
Do you also experience this problem? Is there any fix? I think it connects but doesnt show anything because in one application named "OTG Disk Explorer" it shows a prompt when I connect pendrive
The prompt is shows is "Allow the app OTG Disk Explorer Lite to access the USB Device" When I choose yes, The app says that "Drive cannot open, Please check USB Is Fat32 or NTFS File system"
Hope someone helps me?
Same problem with my phone.
After updating to GPE 4.4.4 it does not connect the OTG automatically.
At this moment I use Stickmount (available on Playstore) to access my OTG.

I did read that part, but unfortunately my OTG is in FAT32 but is not recognized in GPE 4.4.4
If I use Stickmount it works.

Root your device and you will be able to solve almost 99.99% software bugs related your device. But at the same time your device will loose its virginity. Within your warranty period if you face any hardware problem, you have to pay to get it rectified. Now choice is yours. At the same time I would like to mention, many users from this forum are using rooted Moto G almost since they bought the device and they are enjoying. You have to be confident enough.
Now regarding space issue, if you are using mobile data plan or wifi, you can enjoy 15+50 GB free Google Drive space from any where and if Moto G gets Android L OTA update, hope the OTG issue will be fixed there.

I am using Oneplus one smartphone and flashed CM12 a couple of days ago. I cant use the USB OTG option properly. Updated to 31st Jan build and still go the issue. I am rooted and hence used a couple of softwares like Stickmount, USB OTG Helper and all and none of them solved my issue.
The exact problem is like this.
1. Can mount a USB but wont show in setting->Storage
2. Can access with a file manager.
3. Wont thus be able to unmount as there is no option at all like there was in 4.4.4 kitkat.
4. Even if you unplug it will give a message saying usb was not removed properly kinda.
5. After an instance this wont detect any usb and to do that you have to restart the phone.
HELP PLEASE!!!

USB otg helper has an unmount option, so once you're finished just open that app and hit unmount. The fact that it doesn't show up properly in Settings/Storage shouldn't really matter as long as you can access it with a file manager.

But USB otg helper keeps on crashing for both mounting and unmounting. Without a proper unmount the device won't recognise another instance in this case.

Yeah, we know it's broken... it has been mentioned 1000 times this is broken in Marshmallow just like it was before the last Lollipop update, just have to wait for Moto to fix it.
There was one post where someone said they got it working in ES File Explorer and an external powered hub, something like you connect it with power, then disconnect power and connect the flash drive or something like that, but most people couldn't duplicate it. Google might help.

Nice... the US version does not work.
XT 1543, the Brazilian version does not work too.
Just to update my experience, today I updated from the last soak to the release Marshmallow on my XT1540. OTG works fine and I'm able to connect to my SanDisk 32GB flash drive. I've never had a problem with OTG in Marshmallow.

Are u able to view otg pendrive files in es explorer?
Use ES File Explorer And You Are Done.. It has a seperate option for USB.. If It is not showing in system, NO PROBLEM.. U can Still USE it..
So i got a bunch of on the go cables. And wanted to see what the stylus could do.
So far ive hooked a 160 gb otg hard drive. Works decently.
2. Ps3 control for gaming.
3 flash drives. Of coarse this works.
4. Usb ob2 interface for scanning automobile ecus. Works better than g4 if i might add.
5. A old logitech wingman joystick. Works on some flight simulators.
I also ordered a while back a fastboot cable for my kindle. When i plug in on ms631 from power off no commands needed boots straight to fastboot mode
Im gonna make a pair of vr goggles prob this weekend and see if this screens good enough for vr. Did it on my g3 and g4. And it was killer

Has anyone figured out how to get OTG to work on the T-mobile LG G Stylo with Marshmallow? Mine has the latest stock 20c software (H63120c). I use OTG with my FLIR One Android, my SDRPlay, and my RTL-SDR stick, and it would be sad if I have to still use my old Xperia Z for all that.

This page seems to say that adding the file android.hardware.usb.host.xml to /system/etc/permissions will enable USB host mode. Has anyone tried adding this file to a T-Mobile or Metro PCS Marshmallow phone? I haven't rooted my T-mobile Marshmallow phone yet, but I will if I root access will allow me to enable OTG.

I haven't rooted mine yet, but I might now that it might be possible to enable OTG.
I gave up, and got a used "mint" LG V20 for cheap, which has OTG support built in. My LG G Stylo will be used by someone who has no idea what OTG is.
Besides "usb.host" to your permissions xml's, setprop "sys.usb.configfs=1" & "sys.usb.config=*" in dev options must be set right. Init.qcom.usb.rc told me what I needed to get mtp & adb working together.

I currently have 2 external hd I use for OTG, 3tb Passport Ultra and a 4tb Passport, both formatted to exFat. At first, the 4tb works like a charm. Suddenly, got an error from it from my android tablet that it was damaged and needs to be reformatted. Plugged it into my computer and my computer recognized it and its contents so i rand chkdsk and found no errors. When I tried it again on my tablet, it displayed the same error so I opted to format it again to exFat and copy some videos on it and tested it on my tablet. Unfortunately I ran into the same error. Basically my tablet cant recognize this external HD anymore without help of stickmount on exfat or paragon on ntfs. My other hd still works even though I reformatted it again and my tablet seems to recognize it without a problem. Has anyone come across something like this before?

My tablet is a Galaxy Tab S2 (T-810) 5.1.1. stock root.
I feel that the problem lies with the external hd instead. All my android device sees it as corrupted but it works with no problem with Windows. I can only mount it with stickmount and paragon.
I don`t know how it worked at first , 4TB hdd needs lot of power to work on a Samsung device , you may need a Y cable
If stickmount does the trick then keep on using it , it may be software related , maybe an updated application did something
I may suggest to reflash the stock firmware and try on a clean system but a 4TB hdd it looks too much for a tablet

I use a y cable on it. The thing is, it used to worked before. One day it suddenly said that I need to reformat it again. I have another external hd (3tb) and it works no problem. I think something happened on the hard drive itself.
It could be a connector problem as well, a shortcut or something

@MotoJunkie01 Tried it today..... The pc software seems to crash after I connect my phone. As soon as it says test app, it closes. Here is the pic.
I tested this on my otus(xt1506).
Also it'd be good if you could add otus to the title, as first I thought this software was only for surnia.
Anyways thanks for the software....

I've only tested it on Surnia, and even though the software undoubtedly works on many other Motorola/Lenovo devices, I can't confirm it's functionality on Otus. Thanks for your feedback. Ensure you have installed the latest Motorola Device Manager on your PC (to ensure latest USB device driver installation), try reinstalling the Assistant, etc., and let me know if you have any luck with it.
P.S. I've temporarily removed "Otus" from the heading until I can confirm functionality. If you get it working on your xt1506 I will definitely add Otus to both the title and heading. Thanks again for testing.

There is only one reliable driver source for Motorola devices: the Motorola Device Manager directly from Motorola's website.
Here's the link to the latest version.

Download and install this software on your PC, and ensure you have USB Debugging enabled in Developer Options.
The Mobile Assistant app was pulled from a Lenovo Tab 3, so the problem may be your USB device drivers. I've tried the Assistant on the Moto G3 and Moto G4 as well with no problems. Keep me updated. Thanks.
