[Q] UK HTC Sensation XE - GPS problem in US - HTC Sensation

Hello, I purchased an HTC Sensation XE and found out that it is a UK version.
I am not able to get a GPS lock and I think it is because the US does not use the same GPS protocol as those satellites used in Europe.
Does anyone know if it is possible to root this phone and install new flash firmware to make it work or is there a hardware difference that will make this impossible?

Radio upgrade for TMO-US Sensation 4g phones?

I see at least 1 rom recommends upgrading to a specific radio. Is there an upgraded radio that we can use that will provide any performance increase what so ever?

[Q] Htc locations on t-mobile sensation US version

Sensation, XE or 4G?

hey guys how do i know which senstation I have? My friend brought this phone from france, I live in cambodia and we do not have 4G service. Anyways I was researching the back cover to locate the GPS antenna and I notice that I only have the 1 antenna (contact below the camera lens) I guess I dont have the diversity antenna. does this mean I have the XE? and how do I know if mine is the 4G version. Not sure if a serial number or software number would help, I'm currently rooted and running the Supersensation ROM. Thanks.
From the homescreen select "Settings" and then scroll down to the very end of the list where you find the phone info tap. Press it and under phone model it will provide you with the info which model you have.

Settings About Phone Model number ? Likely to be Z710e (euro Sensation if bought in France).
Also get "CID getter" from the Market, run it 3/4 of the way down the scrolled screen you'll see [ro.mid]: [PG5813000] (in my case)
EDIT: Just spotted it also has: [ro.product.model]: [HTC Sensation Z710e] (in much case)
You can also get the cid/mid info from adb, do a search about that.
3G and 4G are the same just a branding exercise so ignore that. I think the american T-Mobile 4G has an additional GPS antenna but not certain.
The important thing is the 3G frequency 850MHz (US AT&T z710a) or 900MHz (Euro and US T-Mobile z710e) that'll be listed on the box if you have it.
Check the MID that'll along with the Model e.g. Z710e will precisely define the phone.
XE and Standard have the same basic hardware so no difference really, same CPU etc. ROMs for one work on the other.
For reference the CID is the Carrier ID.

[Q] Sensation GSM/HSDPA chip removable?

hi everyone, i have a sensation xe that i think came from oversea's. and a broken sensation from North america
my xe connects only via edge/2g. and would love it if it was up with the times on 3g/hspa/4g. i dont think there is a way to modify the bands by upgrading the baseband or radio version. but is the chip on the board removable at all? ( im assuming the factory makes a standard board, that can then be processed for where in the world its intended to be used)
could i swap the working cell chipset from the N.A version to my XE?
thanks in advance!

Hi Josh,
I've a very similar problem ... I would like to change the frequencies of my XE to get 3G coverage.
I think you can do it flashing a modem version with the 850/1900 support ... we share the same Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chip to other HTC terminals that use those frequencies to connect 3G, so it should be possible , but I don't know how to do it
I'm just new to this and some ppl say that would be possible, but no one has tried before ....

There´s no way to change the GSM/HSDPA chip , to work with other bands...
Because it´s no a chip only, its an array of different components to get the specific band´s
So if you think that the motherboard of an American version its exactly the same of an European version , you´re wrong.
There are differences between them.
So , the best way to get your 3G network , its buying a phone that has the correct 3G bands.
I was working for about 8 years in a manufacture center of an important phone brand.
