The worst issue on this phone is mic. It is so irritating when someone doesn't able to listen me on other side [emoji32]....i know it's well known issue of N5. Many topics are on google forum over this.....i wondered here i could find the solution
There's no solution. There are many threads here too.

But i've seens some "patches" here, but no conrete evidence of it working.
is there a rom where i can disable noise canceling in a phone call? because for me covering the top mic worked pretty good.

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted but I could not find any using the search although I came close.
I bought a 2nd hand Telstra HOXL using an Optus sim on fleabay and it is basically brand new. I've had it for almost a week and everything has been working fine except that I dont actually use it for calls that often. So last night I get a call and the person on the other end couldn't hear me so I figured they were in a bad reception area. Similar thing happened today and it felt strange so I called myself and all i could hear was a loud buzzing sound every time I spoke into the mic. When i turn on speaker phone, it actually works properly. Obviously it's a bit pointless if I can make a call without being on speakerphone. The strange thing is, I definitely had a successful call when i first got the phone but it required a few attempts before we could hear each other and I was told by the caller that all they could hear was the buzzing noise. Why it would suddenly work after a few attempts and then never again is beyond me.
Things I've tried:
- Performing the Audio Test. It failed because I could not record anything. I confirmed this by trying the voice recorder and it didn't work - just buzzing.
- I tried factory reset without success
- Finally I jumped onto the online support and they told me there is only 1 mic so it sounds like a software problem.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? I can't exactly take it for repairs cos the Ebayer has gone MIA even though they promised to provide proof of purchase. Hopefully they aren't dodgy cos they even refunded the postage difference. So now i'm stuck with a potential lemon and a few hundred bucks poorer.
Thanks.
I probably can't help you, but I suggest making more tests and post here, hopefully somebody had a similar problem and can help:
- try over headphones
- try over Bluetooth headsetor in car handsfree
- try a call over Skype or yahoo messenger (on wifi) to make sure isn't the network
Post results here. You'll probably end up with a custom rom, but not sure.

Thanks. It's definitely not the network because I put my sim back into my old trusty Desire and it works fine. I'll give the headphones / bluetooth a crack later and I have a feeling they will work.
UPDATE - Tried it with headphones on and it works. I read on another forum that some people believed it had something to do with removing the headphones from the jack which caused the propblem. I happen to use my headphones a fair bit and I'm thinking maybe it's "confused" itself somehow. Some people have tried clearing the cache but I'm not sure how to do that on the XL.

Hi All,
Coming from a solid iPhone background, this is the first time I have fully jumped on the Android ship.
So far, I have really enjoyed the large screen, the custom keyboard and how fast the device is.
However, I use my mobile for work related conference calls with a headset and since getting this phone people are ALWAYS telling me my voice has gone quiet:crying:
I have searched the internet and can see others have reported similar issues and even Google have acknowledged it:
**cant post links!**
My question is if this is related to CTIA vs OMTP headsets? ie maybe I need a CTIA headset and that will sort the mic issue?
Can anyone confirm which headset they have that works perfectly (ie people can hear them)?
thanks in advance
i have this issue too.
google, i know you see this(u the biggest xda digging) : you have lot of problems :'(

I often use the white earpods that Apple started giving with the iPhone 5 launch. I use it for long conference calls, have no issues with voice/sound through the headset whatsoever.
Maybe troubleshoot? Clearly if 2 people are having a problem, it's not your headsets, but perhaps try a new pair or see if it's different between cell phones and landlines?
I using earpods too. Mabye you Satisfied, so you dont have any issue. I looked out the internet and found more ppl having this issue.
I know it's strange to ask about something related to calls on a phone
But...
made a call today, other side couldnt hear me. tried another person, same.
rebooted phone and all is good.
anybody had this at all?
No idea if it's phone or software (or if it will happen again)
Welcome to the club, I have the same issue but its very random so you cannot recreate it, this is said to be a software issue related to noise cancellation.

Hi,
I've already asked this question on Cyanogenmod forum but it was never answered. Here, on xda-developers I see that people encountered the same problem on HTC One Mini - low microphone performance while using Cyanogenmod (see this post for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...m-cyanogenmod-12-unofficial-build-m4-t2985009 - I would like to take part in discussion but as my account has been created a minute ago I can't respond to a post in 'development' section).
Someone stated, that this is common issue of Lollipop - I'm not an expert but I wound't say so. My HTC One Mini performs really well in terms of call quality and reception. The only issue I have with it using Cyanogenmod is the microphone performance. Just after installing CM people I called complained that they don't hear me well (it didn't happen while using stock Android).
I would really like to try some of the unofficial CM12 for my One mini, but call quality (both way) is a critical thing for me. Is it possible to help fixing this issue? I would like to help. If providing any logs/statistics/other* makes sense then let me know.
Cheers,
Jakub
potential fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/mod-camcorder-audio-quality-fix-t2837930 this may be a possible fix if it's the same problem as for the nexus 5. Somebody with android developing/porting knowledge should find if it is the problem occurring our One Mini and try to port if. And yes, I've tried to flash the zips from link with no luck
But there is no noise suppression option in HTC One Mini (both in stock ROM and CM).
Hey Jakub!
I am facing the same or a similar issue.
Microphone level seems to be quite low such that sometimes I have to speak quite loudly to be understood on the other side.
With my old SGS2 I also had audio issues but using a (wired) headset I had no problems. Unfortunately with One Mini, the headset's microphone does not seem to work
Did you try using a headset?

I remember that I've used headset with my One mini, but I don't remember if I was using CM back then. For sure I got complains only while not using headset. So probably problem is only with internal microphone. Anyway - such issues makes the Cyanogenmod not usable for me because I know how annoying it is when you don't hear the other end well.
And to make it clear once again - I've never got complains while using stock ROM and I find call quality & reception really good on HTC One mini when using stock. With CM only microphone performance seems to be worse.
I was using stock-based InsertCoin rom until I flashed CM12.1 and at least in terms of in-call audio, I also never had a problem either with the internal or headset microphone.
My guess is that the microphone sensivity simply is too low, which can also be observed in the voice recorder. When loudly talking into the microphone, either internal or headset, quality is fine.
Unfortunately, I also cannot make any comments in the main thread yet :silly:
Downgrading HTC firmware seems to work for me. I extracted the firmware.zip from the first OTA update available for the One Mini (OTA_M4_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.31.401.1 in my case in France) and flashed my device with it. I haven't tested other firmwares yet but here is a big resource available on the net with all you need for testing (firmwares, OTAs, RUUs, etc...). As I can't post URLs with my newbie status you can find it by typing "downloads for HTC One Mini by Krocko - Android File Host" in Google.
Whenever I call people on the loudspeaker, the person on the other end says I sound muffled or crackly. Anyone else have the same issue. Fastboot flashed stock rom and made no difference.
Yeah I've been having the same issue since the phone came out. Not sure if it can be fixed or not with a software update.
Glad it isn't just me
same here!
yea having the same issue
Try recording a video of yourself using the front facing camera, how does it sound?

I have the same proplem. Any now if it is software or harsware issue.
also when i hit the on/off button for waking the phone up the front camera is going up and down.
I have the same issue, Microphone works fine in other apps
Same problem here, spoke with support and they unable to help. I've had this problem for a while now and considering getting rid of this phone if no fix very soon. Unfortunately this has put me off ever buying oneplus again.
