Hello All,
I am among the many having signal issues with OPO.
But I have noticed that the signal is very stable on HSPA+ when I am constantly using the phone or just pinging from it for that matter.
But as soon as it goes IDLE, I lose connection very easily and get no service for hours sometimes until I realize it.
So is there any way to tweak android settings to always stay on HSPAP / HSPA / HSPA+ or HSUPA connection.
Whether its some hidden menu like the samsung devices or build prop tweak.
Thanks guys.
download LLama and there are settings for network. you can create a rule for it to stay on H+ or LTE
Or use Xposed and Intelli3g
Thanks will report back

For those of us that don't use the new XDA interface... There is no "Thanks" button.
Hspa runs on top of umts.
Just for clarification here is a demo of the problem at hand.

Okay so there is an option in settings to disable network data usage. That is fine, but I still want 2G (EDGE/GPRS) but I don't want 3G/4G. Anyway to do this?

You can switch to it when your not actively using your phone to save some battery.

I reset. I go 4g only. 2g only. It will work for a while and then just nothing.
Turning on wifi even when there is no wifi seems to help.
Anyone know a better method?

Your really gonna hate this. My simcard was sent to me may 7th .
It is suppose to be the newest type.
Yes when I do get signal the speed increase is noticeable.
But it did not help the drops. Even when it shows a signal. It won't keep it.
I hate having to go in and do airplane mode all the time so I can get a signal and post to xda.

Use Set DNS from the market and wait for the official fix from LG/TMO.
Omg. I have this problem too. I told tmobile and they're replacing the phone. Does replacing the aim work though? Because i've tried that and I still can't get a steady signal.

I rooted my T-mobile galaxy blaze 4g and installed ICS 2.3.6. A short time later I upgraded to CM10.0.0. It was there that I noticed that I lost my 4G capability. I only have 2G/3G service now. Where did it go and how can I get it back? Please help!

Go into settings/wireless/more/mobile networks/network mode and check mark the one with lte. This should solve your problem
Did that but still showing 2G/3G and an H+ for my network connectivity. Could it be because T Mobile does not recognize this particular ROM yet and therefore has not authorized it to carry 4g? Kind of at a loss as what to do anybody with other suggestions please.

H+ is 4g

OK cool. I hate to belabor this topic but it why is the 4g intermittent and 3g and 2g seem to be default? It only goes into H+ intermittently it's in very few circumstances. Primarily remains in 3g and menu allows me to go down to 2g. I'm pretty new, I've done a lot of reading, I'm just trying to understand. Thank you for all your help.

Its just as frequent as your last ics , the difference is 4g from T-Mobile never leaves the screen but you were still alternating 3g/4g just the same. Another thing is T-Mobile has less 4g towers than say sprint or atnt sooo really nothings changed. Enjoy !!!
TMO ROMs show 4G full time to avoid panic.
TMO calls HSPA14 and up "4G".
H+ is HSPA+21 and higher.
Phone automatically ramps down to H or "3G" when data connection is more or less idle. Under use, it'll ramp up to H+. Potential battery saving...
Nothing has changed compared with before, except the dummy icon.
It seems when I'm in a different area and I get h/h+/3g that my battery drains more than when I'm at home using 4g? Why is that? Or am I just crazy...
It's probably because when you're out and about the phone is searching for a signal. That uses a lot of juice.

+1, when the phone is not on 4G (LTE) it is constantly looking for 4G, if you are able to change your radio mode to WCDMA via the CM settings (if you are on CM10) theoretically, it should not continue to search for 4G. I don't have the experience to see that this is the case (battery savings)
Oh so the culprit is searching not the signal itself! Ah well thanks guys! I appreciate it!
I've been trying these steps from another post but it won't work with slim bean

I'm using CM9 so this may look different.

That depends on the radio. ATT radios are RAT locked so that doesn't work. Also USSD codes don't seem to work on AOSP based ROMs.
Thanks to csschmit I spelled it wrong but can't find the post.
I do the toggle from Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and change it to GSM/WCDMA and it will force HSPA.
If that doesn't stick, and immediately switches back to LTE, click Network Operators and it may take a long time for the search to complete, if it completes and you don't see AT&T try again over and over until it does. Once you finally see AT&T, click it and it will say "Registered on Network" and the toggle will now work. Even the "use 2g to save battery" will work.
It takes a long time for me to get AT&T to show but you only have to do it once per reboot provided you don't toggle Airplane mode.

Thanks for info too! When you check 2G only, is that only edge? Do you get 3g,hspa,hspa+?
In other words what I'm asking is, should I even check the box for 2G? Where i live constantly changes from H toH+ to 4G. Rather just stick with H+ and lower and conserve that battery

2g is only edge, you will not get higher speeds when it is checked, and supposedly has the best power savings, you can always have data off until needed which would be the best battery saver
Does anyone know if the nexus 5 supports h+ on t mobile UK as I don't seem to be able to get it.

Really I thought it might be the case I hop so , is there a way of testing ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Well, you could check your speeds and see if they line up with what you expect for HSPA+.
The most definite way is to start a file downloading (one that will take a few seconds) then go to Settings -> About Phone -> Status and look at "Mobile Network Type." HSPA+ only kicks in when you're actually transferring data, hence needing to set up the download.

Just do speed tests I guess. See what others are getting. Compare?
This app will tell you all about your connection

You may see it fluctuate and go to 2g when data isn't being transmitted.
Thanks very much your right the apps says h+ .
