[Q] Help! How can I save SmS and Call history when play is broken - General Questions and Answers

Hi, last night my phone turned off and on again and I have lost all of my applications and I cannot access google play. My sms and call log are the only things which are still there (and the external SD card content). I want to be able to backup my SMS and call log so I can do a fresh install without losing them. the problem is that I cannot install any apps which means I can't install any backup apps. I can't access Play and I have downloaded backup apps to my pc and transferred them by USB but they won't install. I am on CM11. I can plug it into my pc and navigate in explorer. Is there anyway I can backup the SMS and call log from windows explorer?
please help me.....
thanks

I was unable to install any apps full stop (not just from Play..)
My solution, in case it helps anyone else, was: reboot in CWM. Do a full nandroid backup. Reinstall the ROM. Install nandroid manager from play. Use Nandroid Manager to extract the SMS and call log from the Nandroid backup of the buggered system. Job done

[Q] Having problems with my Wildfire after Cyanogen mod

Hi,
I installed Cyanogen mod 7.1 ROM on my Wildfire Buzz. Unfortunately, i forgot to take a backup of my Messages/Contacts. I did take a backup of my original ROM though ( I mistoook this backup as the backup of all my data) called a Nandroid backup, i presume.
The problem is after the upgrade, i lost all my Apps. Now the Settings->Applications shows a blank screen. I have lost my Market icon. I am lost!!! However i backed up the contents of my SD card to my PC before starting the Cyanogen Mod process, and some of my Apps are on the SD card. I have lots of questions:
a) Is there a way to salvage my Contacts/Messages?
b) How can i restore the Apps/Games from the backed up contents of my SD card?
c) How do i get the Android Market icon?
d) Anything else i need to know post Cyanogen modding?
Please please help,
Thanks,
Regards.
first of all here are the google apps

You can try restoring your contacts by gmail contacts sync and if you had your contacts on your sim you can hit menu on the contacts menu and select import/export contacts
3rd how did you backup your apps?
Thanks...
I backed up my apps by just copying them to my PC. I know it sounds ridiculous but i honestly thought by backing up the ROM everything would be backed up. Anyway i copied them back to SD card after flashing Cyanogen. But Cyanogen refused to recognize them. Any alternatives? Also the battery life of my Wildfire has dramatically increased. It is now 3 days since i last charged my phone!!! Its incredible. Any explanations? Also what happened to some of the Settings like USB settings, Connect to PC settings etc? Any equivalents?
Thanks once again.

[Q] titanium backup help

i accidentally uninstalled the stock camera app on my samsung conquer 4g.i have a backup for it but i go to restore it, it just freezes in restoring app mode. i have no problems restoring most apps. can someone please help! and im not using any custom roms what so ever
conoirecti
I do not know
Try installing stock rom again.
u may need to flash your original rom or ask someone who was backup the shock camera.
Beside, u can try other 3rd camera apps
Use root explorer
Go to system directory
Mount partition as r/w
Paste the apk in system/apps
Reboot
I think this will help you. if it does please THANK me.
Sent from my Blade
Well also don't forget to set full permissions.
Once when I copied the apk file it didn't work later when I set full permissions it worked.
I would use titanium backup to backup the apps you have, then do a factory reset if the AOL fix above doesn't worm.
mount your SD card from your PC transfer a copy of your Titanium Backup folder from SD card to PC the MAin folder and the contents will all be saved. Then reinsert SD in phone uninstall TitBa clearing the data first then uninstall. Then boot into ClockWorkMod then wipe all 3 cache's then do "Fix Permissions" then Reboot phone. Re-Install Titanium back up and transfer your app backups from your PC back into your newly created TB folder that your phone will make on the SD card when you install TB. Then go into Restore/Backup in TB and restore the App.
You need to allow to install apps from unknown sources!

Titanium Backup

I use titanium backup to restore my apps and apps data after flashing a new rom (i never use it to restore system data). On my old phone (tbolt) I would use the BATCH to restore all apps and apps data and it would do it all automatically. Now when i use it to do the same thing, I have to manually press Install then Done, Install then Done on every single app. Is there a way to make it do it again automatically so i'm not having to press install and done for every app?
Thanks
It only does that if you don't have the pro version. If you paid for pro, download it again thru the play store. If you never had it, you got lucky for a while and now you must pay.
Another method if you still have your T-bolt, or a backup of your storage card, is to look for a file in the root of the card named titanium license.txt. Move this file to the root of the internal storage on the S3, TI should check for file the next time you open the app and you will be all set.

Files
For me, Trubackup scores higher because it backsup to dropbox rather than my SD, plus it lets me select the files I want to store. It has a 30 Day Trial free on googleplay, give it a whirl. Go to google play & search for turbackup and start using
Restoring problem and root.
So when i was on my galaxy s duos my device was rooted, i made some backups to my sd card, when i upgraded to the galaxy grand duos, i couldnt seem to restore anything from that sd card so then i decided to root it, now im having a problem that when i open the app, first off it doesnt ask for su permission, AND i still cant restore anything back from my sd card to the grand, im regretting using this app so much.. please if someone has a solution to this, share it with me.
I think Android Manager will meet your need. It is a management tool that can transfer files between computer and Android phone. You just need to launch it in you computer, and then connect your phone to computer. It will export files from MAC to Android and import files from Android to MAC. Just have a try! It will solve your problem.
This same app thread is available on XDA since 2013

Transfer App with data to other phone

I recently got hands on my OnePlus 3. I am migrating from RedMi Note 3G. Now the thing is, I have couple of apps (Whatsapp & Saavn) which have larger data (300MB and 700+MB) with them. Now I know Titanium Backup is a way to go but it is not backing up my apps saying insufficient storage available even though I have 1 GB+ available on phone and 10 GB+ on External SD(My backup location is on here).
So my question is, is there any better way for this to transfer directly?
I tried:
Easy Backup(app) - Only backs up apk.
CloneIt(app) - Only sends apk.
You can try Titanium Backup but I'll warn you, some apps and data don't restore correctly on another device.
You can also use ES file Explorer to backup the apk and then you go to your Android/data/ folder and you'll see a folder there that has the app data for that app, you can copy that folder to your extsdcard or PC then you install the apk on the other device then you copy the app data folder to the Android/data folder on the new device.
I tried Titanium Backup, it wont backup saying insufficient storage while I have more than enough on both(Phone & SD card).
I will try the other idea and let you know.
Yeah, the second option I posted, doing it manually. It backs up the same stuff Titanium would, Titanium just automates the process for you. You just need to know where to look so you can copy the app data folder for each app that you backup, then you need to know where to put back on the other device. Its a bit round-a-bout but it serves the sane purpose and will do the same job, you just have to do it yourself instead of it being convenient.
Doesn't Work. FIles get copied but app doesn't recognize them anyway.
Do an adb backup then, you can restore it with adb also.
