Hey guys recently (read: a month ago) my dad got me a moto g. I love the phone but there has been a problem with this device from day one. Neither my WhatsApp nor Google+ works properly.
WhatsApp tells me that service is operating normally, however I am unable to send/receive any messages at all. Google+ is the same as it just keeps refreshing and then tells me to check data connection.
This problem gets resolved for a few minutes when I switch my SIM card from SIM slot no.2 to slot no.1. WhatsApp works for a few minutes but then all of a sudden it just stops. My messages are never sent and I get nothing.
Apart from this problem the internet is working fine. Chrome works good, I can download stuff. Play store and Tapatalk works well too.
I have no idea why WhatsApp and G+ are the only apps not working on 3G. Could it be because of the Network operator? Or is it a defect my phone?
Some information about my device:
Name: Motorola moto g
Model: XT1033
16GB Dual Sim
Android version 4.4.4 (this issue was present on 4.4.2)
Carrier: CellOne BSNL (3G)
Country: India
Phone purchased from K.S.A.
I am more than happy provide screenshots or logs (if someone teaches me how to take them [emoji2]) if necessary. Any assistance on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

The proxy is empty but so far I have had a little success in getting it to work by rebooting the phone and changing the SIM as well as switching Airplane Mode ON and OFF.
I think this is a problem with the network itself. I'll try changing to a different one. Hopefully that works! [emoji16]

I have gotten this message 3 times in the last 5 days. Each time I need to do a reboot to restore cellular/sms service (toggling airplane, wifi, bluetooth, sync, and 4g do not restore cellular/sms). The phone has the same AT&T sim card since day 1 and I have never removed it.
Is this a faulty phone, sim card or both?

Did the sim come with the phone? ATRIX 2 needs newest of sim cards to function properly. If that's not the problem then I'm not to sure.

Yes, same sim card that came with phone.
Could be a faulty Sim, i've had that happen before with other phones, just go to at &t and show them the problem, they should replace it for you!

I wasn't able to solve this problem about an year. But did. And totally sure that it is Device's defect (in some cases it is a ROM deffect as in my case, in other - hardware. Smth like stack overflow issues at GSM controller or so). A year ago when I had face this "sim card does not allow connection... " problem, there are no google serch results on this keywords request. Any. To remove this message I was ought to reboot my device every time it appears. And I was thinking that it is normal behaviour for my device. But now there are lot of complainings at the web ( minimum 5 of Galaxy Tabs P1000, thousands of HTC Disire, few motorolla Deffy, 10 Galaxy Ace, few of Nexus S and so on), so I understand that I'm not alone, and problem is known. So I went to Samsungs Service and they confirmed that it is famous problem, have flashed my phone with some magic ROM (magic because it is official but does not available anywhere in the web, XDA or samsung sites! ) and now my phone works fine. Any other solutions like battery removing, *#*#4636#*#* sirvice menu, new sim-card, flashing variety of modems and roms, didn't helps me. This is not faulty sim. This is serious device's defect. Bring your phone to manufacturer and let them repair it or give your money back. This is their problem not your.
using old 3g prior sim card
With ATT---If you took your old 3g sim card out of old phone and used it. You will get this message. You need to activate the 4g card that came with phone

I have exactly the same issue randomly at times when I try to register on network manually (MTNL Dolphin 3G - Mumbai). Unrooted MB865 ver 2.3.6 & updated on 18th May 2012 to System Ver 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en03. If I keep the setting as Automatic in Type of Network & Operator it functions fine fluctuating between Dolphin for local access & CellOne on roaming access in the same area based on cell tower connection the phone registers on alternating between "E" & "H" automatically based on cell mast direction proximity, however if I select 3G only and uncheck automatic for operator then the phone searches for signal for a very long time and fails to show any operator saying "no connection available" & sometimes when "Dolphin" network does appear and try to select manually get the error as "this sim card does not allow connection to this network". I did complain with the service provider and they were supposed to get back to me after checking in their switchboard exchange where I also provided them my SIM number in addition to my cellphone number(no response). Also as is case with poor service of all Indian cell network providers even in urban cities, also face random peculiar issue of call not being received inspite of signal available on the phone & network asking me to recheck the number I have dialled while placing outgoing calls though it is ok and signal is sufficient. Also "Network Speed Booster" app looks like a lot of bull (any other good apps??)
I needed to know using the secret Menu *#*#4636#*#* for 3G GSM service which kind of network I should ideally select for best results & does this setting override the regular menu network settings??
I get "G", "E", "H" randomly based on my locations but no "3G" or "H+" and further at times these icons are grey and sometimes blue and in either cases randomly at different locations sometimes data throughput is not there as only one of the arrow shows active blinking. Any advise on the status based on colors and the blinking of the arrows?? Thanks!
Hello!
A friend of mine recently bought a Moto G from a random person. It seemed to work just fine with a mexican Telcel SIM card (so we suspect it is an XT1032 like the one I have). After that we unlocked the bootloader, flashed a custom recovery (philz) and then flashed a stock Lollipop ROM from this thread (no bootloader update problem).
Then the problems started: the phone can get internet just fine from the mobile company (Telcel), but CAN'T MAKE PHONE CALLS. It just displays a "Mobile network not available" dialog. It didn't matter if we used any SIM card (we tried with multiple that we know that work on other phones). So then we flashed a mexican stock KitKat version from this thread but the same problem still happens (again, we tried with multiple working SIMs).
I've looked for solutions. Some of them suggest looking onto the *#*#4636#*#* option, but it does literally nothing on the phone. Here is the info from the "Status" section in the About Phone option of the Settings:
Network: TELCEL
Mobile network type: HSPA+
Service state: Out of service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile network state: Connected
My phone number: Unknown
IMEI: (this one seems to be correct)
Any help to solve the problem is appreciated. Thanks a lot!
No info on this?
As I mentioned, other threads and forums with similar problems mention solutions that don't work. I'm still looking but people with this problem never seem to get a solution.
I was traveling to and from US and India. 2 Days back when I entered London airport for US, my mobile did not show any signal what so ever. It was no service. It was working fine when i boarded the flight in US.
Now following things I have tried according to my knowledge
1. I tried disabling the sim card, changing from 2g-3g- 4g. No improvements.
2. I went to menu by *#*#4636#*#*, and trying radio on and radio off. Nothing
3. I suspected that antenna is damanged and it hardware problem.
4. But then this wired thing happend, while playing around when both the sim are active, I turn of the sim one, the mobile data is switched back to second sim. Then when i again switch back the sim 1, it is automatically configured for 2g. It gets signal, I can make calls and it works good. Moment I switch the mobile data to that sim the network vanishes and back to no service/emergency calls.
5. I figured that there is some problem with the sim, so I inserted that sim into old samsung grand mobile which 3G phone. It works flawlessly.
6. Tried other sims in the moto G, 4g dosent work for some sim cards.
7. By reading on I found that lot of people have this problem and have solved it by flashing firmware. I tried that too. Tried stock rom, new osprey 7.* Nothing seems to be working.
Any thoughts and comments are welcome. I am kind of frustrated by this small bug. Might be lapse on motolora part. If someone is still active in this community please help, reply.
Recently got a Phone as the titles says, Unlocked Docomo Samsung S4 SC-04E 14.1 lineage OS.
Installed my AT&T SIM from my troublesome OEM Samsung S4 i337 into the Lineage S4 and everything worked fine for about 10 days after setting it up and using it.
Then it suddenly stopped connecting to AT&T Mobile Data, so no email, no internet, but can still make/receive phone calls, and send/receive Text messages.
If connected to WiFi, everything is good with all functions.
When not connected to WiFi, the Mobile data Symbol is lit up and, it says AT&T, and every setting I look at, including dialing *#*#4636#*#* it shows AT&T as the network, but that's the one place it shows it is Not connected to data and the ping test fails.
Spent days and hours talking with AT&T Tech support and they couldn't get it to work, so they sent me a New SIM card, which did not help either.
I then went to an AT&T store and they could not fix it, so I tried numerous times using those "how to fix no Mobile data connection" with no results.
My thought is why was it working fine with Mobile data for so long, and then stop working.
Would this have something to do with the Lineage OS.
My other question/thought/last resort at this time, is how to clean reset the phone without losing the Original Lineage 14.1 settings, and start over by putting my SIM card in to see if it Connects to Mobile data on it's own like it did originally.
Any help is appreciated.
Regards, Frank
I recently bought a Note 20 ultra off eBay about 3 weeks ago. I have Page Plus and have had them for about 10 years. I called Page Plus and registered the phone or SIM and IMEI and I had no network data but Wi-Fi, SMS and phone (over Wi-Fi I guess) is working but if I turn the Wi-Fi off there is no internet. I contacted Page Plus several times but by the 10th phone call I was going nuts so I assumed it was a bad card & ordered a new SIM, however it is the same situation. I'll submit any info needed, I really need to get this straightened out quickly, my mom is in the hospital and even though most of my calls are coming through I need to make sure everything on the phone is working In case of an emergency. When I'm driving down the road I cannot get any phone calls or text messages.
Device settings...
No one?
Seems like Samsung screwed something up
I had a S20 PLUS (G986U / u1) which was working fine on android 12. Factory Reseted it, gave it to someone who updated phone via ota and now it has no data
But my case is different, I I can't even type out apn for mobile data, when I press the Access Point Name nothing happens, doesn't let me in the apn menu to add/change it
Hey! I'm having the same issue with my Note 20 Ultra, US edition! I can make calls, but mobile data is not active and I also can't change the APN! The menu is not opening at all and also, it's not greyed out!
P.s. - from India, with Airtel SIM.
Mine is Solved! I think it has something to do with the ICCID, SIM or ESIM situation. See attached photo. I called Page Plus for the fifth time and told them my network showed as disconnected. She reset my account & I went through a certain order of steps, I shut my phone off, removed my SIM card (gave her the number again, for the 5th time), restarted, reinserted my SIM, turned data on, roaming off & Wi-Fi off, restarted my phone, toggled between wifi off & on & Boom! The LTE sign popped on, now I'm able to use both, the LTE sign doesn't show when I'm signed into a Wi-Fi network but the mobile data is now definitely working. Hope that helps.
Glad it worked out for you!
My situation is a bit difficult as it's not an Indiam handset (Samsung released the Exynos mode here) and my current service provider (Airtel) has no idea about my situation.
Will keep looking, if someone can crack this!
