[GearOMNI][i9500][4.4.4][Q&A][Discussion] OmniROM - Galaxy S 4 General

Discuss here about my OmniROM Builds.
Use ROM's thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/gearcm-omnirom-samsung-galaxy-s4-t2836221 ) only for Bug Report.
Thank you.

I'm guessing it is, but... Is it based on cm11 ?
Also, screenshots would be great!
Downloading.

Omni is based on AOSP. If you're talking about the device tree, then it's modified from the one CM uses.

Are your GearOmni build didn't have camera and sound issue like on DirtyUnicorn?

General question
Hi, @Alberto96, read in the Omni ROM thread that you'll switch from CM to Omni, can I ask why?
Why would you change from CM to Omni? I wonder if it's personal preference, or are there technical / performance motivations behind your decision? Just wondering.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks

edit: already see your posts on gearomni thread

Nope, if you see first post Camera isn't in the bugs I tested all primary functionalities before release.

How is the battery life compared to tw based ROMs? Can we squeeze out about 3 hours screen time with moderate usage?

I highly doubt it, OmniROM uses the same "buggy" audio driver. (CM device tree just adapted to AOSP/OmniROM)

Ohhh, fresh meat. Will give a try to this
One question, where can I configure the home button behavior? I can't find it.

Seems that it can't be configured, it is a CM feature. I need to check a bit better.

LiquidSmooth is another aftermarket Custom Rom vendor! It is like CyanogenMod, but has it's own modifications! I suggest to be on CyanogenMod at least for now, because everything else is more buggy
Maniakk said:
Bugs :
- It does not work save contacts on the card sim and not read contacts from sim.
- little eats a lot of battery but I think I can fix it somehow
- Sometimes there are minor crash in the settings
So besides a perfectly! I hope that the rom will be meticulously updated! It is worth taking the time :fingers-crossed:

No, for a first solution you can disable wakelocks under advanced options in settings menu
And i suppose that is a Liquidsmooth problem, because device sources weren't changed

Next weekly will have 268 PDI (hope that is a little better)
So does this mean that we can start downloading from SlimRom official website?

Yes of course, this means you can download directly from SlimRoms website,
And you'll have a weekly as soon as Slim team release one (you don't have to wait for me to do it )
Also you should be able to update using OTA updates between releases.
Enjoy.

Well, i try many times to merge cm12 patches to omnirom, the important patches like frameworks/av/base/native which contain fix for camera and other features but without result, omni framework's based on pure aosp so i can't merge cm12 patches because frameworks are not compatible if frameworks/base code's patch are not match with source i can't do anymore, anyway I will release SlimLP for our phone in this days, i was planning to do that last week but i have issue with my machine.
P.S. : i do a "half" port of Ubuntu Touch by getting shell access to the device, taking blank screenshots and also internal sdcard has been recognized without problem, the only issue to fix is broadcom gpu to boot up as well, if any dev are interesting we can port utouch

Hey, using this rom for about a day on single sim It's near perfect !
Everything I want to use works.

Hiya,
thank you for your reply. the pictures in this example is a controlled environment, and at close range, and in artificial light conditions.
I used the Mokee rom some time ago and thought that its camera was quite good. but in more testing i found the post processing on the stock images to come out clearer.
I use my camera in alot of different settings espcially in Dark or night time environments, or very sunny days. and i've noticed that the mokee camera (being based of LOS) had more rough artifacts at higher megapixles.
I'll give this rom a test run in a couple of days when I have time to flash.

Where can I download the new version?
Old versions of fingerprints do not work
is a nearly perfect ROM, incredible battery life, no heating, zero lags and the infinite world of optimizations and customizations is amazing, the camera is good, very good results and the sound could improve, the only reason why I came back to stock , was the echo that I can not connect to 5Ghz wifi networks and connections to 2.4Ghz, it connects to the network, but fails to transmit data, any recommendations? Thank you so much for such great work

On my device wifi worked without any issues in 2.4HGz and 5GHz networks. It seems you are the first who has such problems. Maybe reason not in phone?
