[Z] Headphone selection (Z2 earbuds) - Xperia Z Accessories

Hello.
I have Z for an year already and I'm still enjoying this phone much. One BIG disadvantage was very low volume with headphones.
I have one panasonic headphone, one from sony, and that one which came with it.
Recently my gf bought Z2 and I was testing it. Incredible device. But I'm not talking about that. I tested earbuds which came with Z2.
I found them ABSOLUTELY fantastic. incredibly high volume, best bass ever, best treble.
one little thing. if you want to make it work, you have to NOT plug it in phone completely. make sure you left some 0.2-0.5mm of jack outside of phone. it's not that comfortable, but headphones are worth of that (if you will not leave a bit of jack outside, you will hear only in one speaker)
MDR-NC31EM is name of it.
P.S. voice it has is REALLY good.

They work on Z like all others when I plug it completely, but you won't be able to use the mic or noise cancellation as the power source required for the noise-cancelling microphone is located in the earphone's connector. And volume of my old Xperia Z buds is fantastic and almost the same as with Z1 and Z2 buds (I'm a sony earbuds freak ). Better check your earbuds or phone connector.

Best in-ear headphones for Desire HD with Remote

Hi,
I started workin out and biking quite a bit recently and I want to purchase some earphones for my DHD. Can anyone recommend a nice set with a remote?
Thanks!
Just because I had some anyway I really like the Sony Ericsson headsets. Great sound, some have the music controls, most have a mic and can be picked up quite cheap.
The SE stereo bluetooth headsets work well too. The only issue is that song info may not be available if you go for a headset with display.
thanks for the reply. But do all the controls and mic work on the DHD?
Like these for example?
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/overview/hpm-88?cc=pl&lc=pl#view=overview
I am using Jabra street bluetooth headset..if you like using Bluetooth then I recommend it.. good voice clarity and good backup also. Once I charge it fully I can listen to songs 8 hrs continuously

Have massive Turtle beach xbox 360 headset with noise cancellation I use in the gym. to filter out all the garbage brainwashing illuminati music.
Just to let you know, it's not worthit buying any expensive set for them... DHD has *crap* audio output even from the stereo jack output...
I don't say this because I like it either

So true... One of the reason I'm very interested in the Sensation with it's "Hi-Fi audio"
I have the AH-C560R from Denon, the remote is useless (not working even on Gingerbread which was suppose to fix that...), the sound quality is really bad for me due to the DHD audio output (this thing is a joke, really !!!)
If you have experience in soldering you can do it like me:
1. take an old SonyEricsson Headset with the good inEar Phones (W810i)
2. take the stock Headset from the DHD
3. Open the 3 buttons on den DHD headset with a flat screwdriver or your fingernails
4. Desolder the old phones and remove they
5. cutt off the 3.5mm Phonejack from the SE Phones
6. solder the SE Phones to the DHD remote
7. fix all with a few drops of hot glue
8. putt the buttons back on the remote
Enjoy a new soundexperience

You seriously think it has a crappy audio output? I mean i agree on the speaker part but the headphone jack isn't bad by a long shot. Atleast not compared to my previous two phones (Xperia X1, HTC Hero).
On-Topic:
I am using the sennheiser cx 400 II, these work awesome however no headset control. It get's bothersome when riding my bike but i just cant manage to find a good pair without paying to much.
am using SONY MDR-XB40EX, good sound and bass but no remote...
What about the jabra rhythm headphones ? They tell they are compatible with dhd and they have mic, call/play/pause and skip tracks buttons ! Exactly like the stocks one. They cost 30$ on ebay !

if you can pay a bit more, and like some good base, you can go with bose, those are the ones that i have been using since the iphone 3g days

Did exactly this but use a set of senn's, I use poweramp & headset button app to get volume control. The results are awesome.
Would show a pic but not allowed!
Bluetooth
i dont know but the corded headsets, not a fan as they tangle and get in the way.
but i got Sony MW600 bluetooth headset, and its great, got 12hr music time, volume controls, pause play skip back and forward and answer hangup controls. also its got a buit in fm radio transmitter, and they have a great in ear buds in 3 diferent sizes also u can actually connect any 3.5mm headphones into it
maybe worth checking out
I use westone 3 in ear headphones, they don't have a mic but whenever someone calls me i just bring my phone closer to my mouth lol
I don't think the sound from the Desire HD through headphones is that bad, it's probably on a par with my old Nokia N96. Still, if you're into high quality audio you shouldn't really be using a mobile phone for your music!
the westone's retail for about £250 UK
R u sure the sony m600 have fm transmitter? Cos I looked all over the net and all it says that it got fm radio receiver, not transmitter

Got myself Phonak Audeo PFE 112s recently for just under 100GBP, must say the audio output on DHD is not that bad, it's not as good as an iPod touch but still really decent, especially if you use an equaliser such as powerAMP player.
But anyway would recommend the Phonak's to everyone, really good sound quality and they come with a mic and a single button that works with my DHD.
Having gone through quite a bit of experimentation on this, this is the optimal setup for me...
Sony Ericsson MW600 the three remote buttons all work well, but don't use the heat set provided, go for the...
Klipsch Image S4, very good, comfortable in the ear, though not noise canceling they do cut out a lot of external noise.
Finally PowerAmp, you won't get a better music player for the DHD that accommodates Bluetooth Stereo. Has it's only Equaliser and if you use the headset wired direct to the phone it will also allow you to use the Dolby and SRS effects for your DHD.

Agreed, I originally had a pair of Sennie CX300 II but I snapped the cable when it got caught on a door handle and thus ruined the headphones so I've gone and replaced them with a pair of CX500. Whilst they don't have a remote I think they offer the best sound quality, and best noise cancellation, for the price you pay.

Compatible earphones

Okay, this hasn't been the best day of my life. I was Skyping with my Z and in a hurry of having to do something in the house I pulled out my stock earphones (which model are they anyway, I can't seem to find the model version) out of my ears and while I was getting up I somehow pulled the wire and my phone fell down from my desk. When I picked it up, I had an unpleasant surprise awating for me. My earphone jack was broken from the fall, and is quite unusable now as the sound is distorted.
So, my question is, is there any list of compatible earphones for XZ? I tried my SE Xperia Arc's stock earphones, but Sony gentlemen decided to make them INCOMPATIBLE with XZ (which pissed me off good). I really need help as I'm using my XZ as an mp3 player as well.
Thanks in advance!
I think any iPhone compatible headset will do just fine.
I am thinking of buying Sennheiser CX 275s, but I'm not sure if they'll work with Z.

I own the Sennheiser Momentum and they work OK with the Xperia Z even though they are branded for iPhone use.
Mic works, control remote is limited though. Volume up and down don't work, but the middle button can be used to pause, answer, skip track, hang a call.
Most of the time u do will have issues with headphone that have a control or a hands free system in it. Unless they aren't the sony ones u might get in to issues but pretty much every other headphone that don't have a control or hands free on it should work flawless. Or Bluetooth Stereo headphone even with control and Hands free should work fine too. As long as they aren't branded from any other cellphone manufacturer. For example my beats headphone from htc have issues with the xperia z the Samsung headphones do too. But my other 2 pair that aren't branded from a cellphone manufacturer work fine.

I'm currently use both:
Meelectronics M-Duo (dual driver, one button +mic)
Xiaomy piston (single driver, 3 buttons + mic)
And they both works like a charm also all the buttons works (vol up/down or skip track).
Before i've used also a pair of bluetooth headphones: the Jabra Revo Wireless (no problem at all and same HIGH audio fidelity)

will they work well on stock rom or i have to flash a custom rom ? and what about sony newly released Sony sth 30 earphones ?
Hello,
I've also got a pair of Xiaomi Pistons V 2.0 and they're great. They're the best inearphones I've ever had and they're a lot better than my other inearphones such as Beats by Dre Urbeats and A-Jays One Plus.
Xiaomi Pistons works out of the box without the need of flashing a kernel, and does support volume control and such.
Make sure that you order from a trusted store such as PenonAudio or Ibuygou, there are a lot of counterfeits around. All of the ones sold on ebay are counterfeits.

Just to make your decision a bit harder - have you ever looked at the hippoVB's? They were my first IEMs and I never really like any others after them. What i really love is that you can change some screws in the back to adjust the amount of bass. If you get some comply foam tips with them you can hear almost nothing from the outside world

Too many options ,
now Just recommend one of these
1-Sony sth30
2-Soundmagic e10
3-soundmagic e30
4- recommend your own which is available in india
it should be loud with bass as z1c lacks loudness
I am sorry for intruding here, but after it is often pointed out how good headphone X keeps ambient noise out, I want to ask if there are any suggestions for android-compatible quality in-ears (more buttons are better than less) that do not mute ambient sounds too much(?)
That is, I want to - of course - hear what comes from the speakers but still be able to have a little acoustic feedback from my surroundings (when I'm cycling in heavy traffic, to give just one example). I sometimes use the stock in-ears that came with the phone and don't like how I can't hear much besides what comes out of the tiny speakers (and occasionally my blood rushing and whatever funny bodily sound effects there may be).
Ordered SoundMagic E10's - Will Post a Review soon after they Come.
I got SoundMagic ES18, after i heard the awesome sound for 12 USD price ... ordered 2 extra to have backup for the backup
make sure u "burn" them a bit before listening. just play white noise sound on full vol overnight.
if you are rooted, also install the volume boost so you get more volume.
I was thinking of burning them with pink noise, could you please give me links for good burn in tracks and little more information on that

Soundmagic e10 , I was very disappointed. after all those reviews and awards they are nothing special, good but not great. my stock samsung inears sound louder and equal quality to them
i just got the xiaomi pistons v2 .. well the soundmagic es18 sound better to me.
using the same earplugs silicons to make sure its exact same seal in the ear.
really not impressed for the double the price of es18

Have you burned in your Pistons?
actually not, i gave them to my brother who used them for some days.
now i got em back and sound so much better than before.
still ES18 are quite close compared for the price tag.
to be sure, i will burn them today overnight with pink noise
Plz Somebody tell me a good inear earphones and headphones for my z1 compact, totally disappointed by the level of sound produced by them, way too low, Don't know why.
Currently i'm using
Sound magic ES18 (loudness ok which vanishes as bass part comes)
Razer electra ( Clear but lacks loudness )
Sony v55 ( whispering)
I'm currently planning to buy piston v2, will be there any significant change over es18.
If not is it possible to connect external sound card through otg to this ****ty phone, if yes plz tell me the name of sound dac.

Z3 speakers?

Hello!
As some of you knows it already the Z2 speakers are low out of the box and even only one speaker works when the phone ring.
Do you think the Z3 will be louder with tweaks as Phonearena review is saying it's not loud enough?
Btw does the new UI has a car app?
Please post questions in the Q&A section

Hiya
Just got mine last night. The bottom speaker is the only speaker that plays when the phone rings, although it is quite loud. Texts seem quiet though. This would be better through both speakers though for sure.
Can't see a Car app on UK unlocked model.
Different with my Z3 (bought via Vodafone Germany): BOTH speakers are used for incoming call sounds; pretty decent volume.
Didn't notice a "car app"; there's Garmin navigation preinstalled - but the usual "try and NOT buy" kind. So just regard it as nonexistent, simply stick with Google Maps. And yes, Sony generously allows deinstalling Garmin navigation.
Speakers in general: Nice and clear sound, quite deep stereo effect, but a bit thin, could be louder, about the same volume as Samsung's S4.
Playing around with preamp settings does NOT help, just leads to distortions.
HORRIBLE volume via 3,5 mm connector - AS USAL, volume is FAR TOO LOW for powering anything else than that infamous earwax pullers (in-ear headphones).
For something positive: The sound via headphones connector is real fine, you won't be disappointed if it comes to audio fidelity.
this is probably done on purpose by design. sony probably figures if they enabled both speakers or made them louder it would be pretty rude when in public places.. something would agree with.. nothing more annoying than to be at a public place and hearing phones ringing at full volume . IMO these devices are already ring loud enough.. i keep mine at middle volume and is plenty loud. i think people that require louder should invest in hearing aids or perhaps clean their ears

Can't say limiting the ability of the phone to ring through both speakers is a design feature.
I'm going to keep looking to see if anyone sorts the sound coming out of one speaker as this is the culprit I think.
Edit: I actually think having both speakers playing would allow them to reduce the volume in both, allowing for less distortion and a nice sounding ringtone.
Im currently test driving the IPhone 6...yes don't bash me this is my first iPhone...I'll like to know if the speaker output on the Z3 is as loud as the iPhone 6?
I just own z3 I can tell speaker very low.I owned z1 z2 before. same kind **** Sony don't improve anything

The iPhone 6 speaker is louder, but since it's always facing the wrong direction, the louder speaker doesn't always translate to more sound reaching your ears. Your hand often covers the speaker as you hold it as well.
It's plenty loud, maybe not as good as HTC M8 levels in terms of clarity at full volume but pretty close.
Speaker tests from GSMArena. Look for stats in a table in the middle of the page in each link.

SONY Xperia XZ3 MH750 headphones In the XZ2 Box..

Just Unboxed my Gorgeous Green/Blue XZ2 from O2UK...
I was a bit disappointed to see that SONY have included a pair of MH-750 In-Ear Buds in the box... which not only came with the original Z3, but also have a 3.5mm headphone jack plug on them..
Yes I got a 3.5mm - usb-C dongle in the box, but Ide hoped SONY wouldve made more of an effort with them..
Did anyone else (from ANY region) get anything different.
Cheers
Same here (Slovenia) - eu...
Last good headphones came with Z2 ?
Be glad you got something extra in the box.
I bought mine then it was pree release and got the worthless wireles in ear.
They drop connection and also have a sound delay in them.
Skickat från min H8266 via Tapatalk
Did some tests with my xz2compact and my good old beats in-ear headphones.
The HTC u11 usb c headphones work too but the sound quality and especially loudness are that bad that you can't really use them.
The U11 adapter works too and is even louder than the Sony one.
However i got the h.ear2 (mh900) as preorder bonus and prefer to use them i guess. At least when the question about carrying the bigger ones with me is not important.
Lets be honest: There will be no phone like the HTC 10 regarding sound quality. As they remove the headphone jack they would need to include a very good adapter or usb c headphones. Too much costs for almost every company. HTC includes some very good headphones and i heard razor dongle should be very good. But still i can live with that, it's still only a phone and i rarely use headphones (mostly on longer flights etc).
I bought the HTC 10 in-ear headphones to use with my XZ2 as my original ones were broken. The HTC 10 headphones work extremely well for my use with the XZ2 and those coming from the 10 should definitely use those. For those of you who haven't come from the 10, buy the headphones if you want a quality, cheap in-ear pair! They're around £20 on eBay.
Hmm, sounds like im not the only one... I also have the HTC U11, so I might try the dongle / ear buds from that.. as the dongle has a DAC built in... I guess I had hoped SONY mightve pushed something new out with a new flagship because SONY can be pretty expensive
A friend of mine told me that theres an offer in the UK with O2 for a FREE pair of WF-1000X in-ear buds somewhere
Mhmmm i'm using the Xiaomi ProHD, using PowerAmp v709 and a 24bit 192khz Flac tune and it does sound kinda similar to my HTC10.
I'll try some Benches in the future....
This isn't a bad thing.
MH750 remains a very good in-ear.
I still have my first, from Z3 package.
Working perfectly well and sounding smoothly.
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ2!
