I recently installed the JellyBelly ROM v.3 (CM10) on my EVO Shift. I really appreciate the work that the devs are doing on this ROM. I am posting some bugs I encountered after running the ROM for a day. I hope this info helps make the ROM more stable and polished for the entire community. This is my way of giving back right now. Thanks for all the hard work guys!
Green Box During Boot Screen Bug - During boot the HTC screen with white background is displayed for a few seconds, then the boot animation appears. During the transition between the HTC screen and boot animation you can see the HTC screen turns into a green box and fills the upper 30% of the display for a second or two prior to the boot animation starting. This is not a critical bug, yet it may point to a larger underlying video issue in the system. If nothing else, it could give a poor first impression about the ROM quality due to graphic glitches.
Random Screen Freeze/SOD Bug - For no apparent reason the device would lock up and refuse to respond to touch input or pressing the power button. I was forced to remove the battery several times in order to reboot the device. I was unable to establish exactly what caused the lock up, but I was curious if the CPU settings and clock settings might be to blame?
Camera Green Line Bug - After I took a couple pictures I reviewed them in the Gallery app. I immediately noticed that my pictures all had a green line down the left side. I thought that perhaps the stock Camera app was to blame so I installed CameraZoom, a third party camera app as a replacement to the stock Camera app. The result was that the entire upper half of the images taken with CameraZoom app were solid green. I'm not sure if the driver or the app is to blame for this experience.
Facebook App Crash Bug - The Facebook app refused to launch without crashing for me.
I want to run this ROM as my primary ROM, but these issues, except for the Boot Screen Bug, are show stoppers for me. Keep up the great work. I look forward to version 4!
The boot animation thing happens even when there is no boot animation... All the others I have fixed except Facebook, working on that at the moment. Once that is fixed v4 will be up... Facebook seems to be taking up way more RAM than it should The camera line is caused by the 4.2 camera, I took it out and replaced it with 4.1 camera. BTW I got your message, but was unable to respond to it.
Been running this since V2 came out and have seen your issues as well. When the screen locks up I just wait for a minute or so and the current app stops and doesn't require battery pull. Can't wait for those fixes.

Thanks for the info. What was causing the phone to stop responding to input and how did you fix it? Also, do you have a complete list of outstanding bugs that have been reported so far?

Actually you got all the bugs reported except Netflix... I got Facebook working, but now wifi won't turn on
The main issue with JB on the Shift IMO is RAM dispersion, which is mainly what I am working on.
Great info! Also meant to ask, why are there two flashlight applications installed? Why is Flipboard installed by default? Seems like Flipboard is kind of an odd default app.
Because it is a work in progress (I was testing them and forgot to remove one), and flipboard works better than Facebook

Got Facebook fixed, but I don't like how much performance I am having to give up to keep it from crashing... I'm hoping there is a perfect median, I just haven't found it yet. I have noticed quite a bit of difference between launchers also. This is my first dive into JB, so it's been a learning process. Got one more thing to try tonight.
I have had issues with the keyboard. on V3 Im not sure how it will work out with the V4. In most cases i would have to hold the . Shift button instead of just tapping it one to cap a letter. and then it resumes to lower case letters. ive also had to Hold FN to Create symbols instead of tapping just once. to make that symbol. over all it is a great rom i do have by far great expectations of it . i will re-flash once. some of those kinks are out such as the green line on the photos. as far as 4g goes i can careless about it considering the fact that i have no 4g in my local area .
As far as FB Goes i never use it ( Its a relationship killer ) xD
None the less keep up the great work on Deving the Rom .
I look forward to future updates. and maybe a keyboard fix. where it was like originally having it .
( Also random Closing of the browser . Ive had a few on V3 . But as i said im not sure what V4 will have in store for me. )
v4 is up and most of said bugs have been eliminated:sly:

Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Flashed Dirty Unicorn and loving it so far. No LG or ATT bloatware!
re: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/orig-development/rom-dirty-unicorns-v9-0-t3005553/
So far, so lovely. The only LG app I'd like to see here is the Camera. I don't think any other camera app uses the laser for faster focusing. I have tried installing the APK someone extracted from stock, but no joy.

Flashed this last night and so far everything is great, Cellular data(Ater changing APN to ATT LTE), wifi, BT all working and camera seems fine. Only thing I am missing is being able to customize the navbar. I miss the little button to pull down notifications.
Not a deal breaker though. This rom is awesome!
I can't seem to find where I can make Wallet for my default tap and pay.
Dialer FC in Dirty Unicorn
Settings>More>Cellular Networks>Carrier Settings causes Dialer FC
There's a bug when playing music, seems to not want to play the next track, overall sound of the phone stops and I believe texts and phone calls start to have issues. Have to reboot the phone to get it back to normal.

I am using the music app for music. When it happens to me, like in my car occasionally, I go to song list and tap the shuffle all and it goes to the next track like it should but haven't tried another app.
As far as proximity during phone calls, if I pull the phone away from my face and push the power button on the back, the proximity sensor starts working, the screen turns off and back on when I move it to and from my face during that call.

Have some issues with the proximity sensor as well. After a call, sometimes I have to push the button on the back and unlock the phone before I can hang up.
Is the rom aosp based or omni based?
not complaints.. not demands.. just observations
all I'm missing is the Nav Bar hide.. Global Expanded Desktop & Blacked Out Settings to compliment an otherwise pretty full dark mod
And I'm aware this is just an initial release.. much more to come no worries ^_^

Soon... Soon...
sooo I'm noticing my battery is in free fall
Didn't even last 5 hours from 100% screen off unused sitting on my desk at home..
I'll get some screenshots up of the battery sections.. it's strange.. all the %s don't even total 100%.. or even 50% :-/
Ambient Display
Ambient Display doesn't work for me, but it also does not turn on in my pocket. Take the good, take the bad.
Anyone with phone call proximity issues, turn off ambient display, it breaks the sensors when screen is off (known issue amongst the G3 roms). as for play music next track issues, it doesn't seem to be affecting every device, so it's not really a bug but it is being looked into
here's 2 sessions of my 100% battery to under 15% in less than 5 hours
It was sitting on my desk unused.. screen off.. location set to battery saving..
I admittedly don't know much.. & am confused not only by the huuuuuge pwn drain.. but why don't the totals = 100% ?
I'm trying to get the notification LED to work while the screen is on.
I've managed to get it working while the screen is off. While that is nice, I want it to work while the screen is off too. I've found this guide and tried it, but it doesn't work on my OPO, which has a different ROM version. I have Xposed and XLED installed.
My situation:
Light Flow Legacy
Omnirom 6.0.1-20160116-find7op-HOMEMADE
Does anybody know a way to get the screen on notification led working? I know it must be possible, because when the phone setting is enabled to show the LED while charging, it does show while screen on or off. However, Light Flow notifications only show while the screen is off.

Not related to your question but get on the Omni nightlies there are some great new additions to the ROM. Don't dirty flash from a homemade though. Clean flash and go through settings, Advanced, more, phone app etc. Also you can edit power profiles with your own CPU and GPU settings for specific apps.
I've never seen a way to have light flow work with screen on. I bought the app ages ago but don't use it ?

Where do I find the nightlies then? I thought I had the latest installed, because I found a thread mentioning the latest stable release being from 2015, so I figured the homemade version I have from 2016 was the latest. However, searching some more yielded http://dl.omnirom.org/find7op/ . Are those the actual nightlies you're talking about?

cm_satsuki-Nega_Spork.zip
For dsds testing: cm_satsuki_dsds_test_boot.img Note: you will see the Sony Bootanimation instead of CM13, this is intentional. Also detection may take a minute or two. Provide clear reports.
For dsds model owners, flash rom clean, then in recovery reboot to bootloader and flash this test boot.img with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot cm_satsuki_dsds_test_boot.img
fastboot reboot
NegaSpork
Working:
Sim [single]
Storage
NFC
Audio record fixed
The rest is the same.
What doesn't work:
Since the camera is still not "fixed" we will just say it doesn't work, deal with it.
Next on my todo list is fmradio
DSDS support is still being worked out by the project members. [see test boot image above]
NOTE: OpenGapps may bug out quickpanel/pulldown menu. This may be related to version used.

Notes and Updates
NOTE
I have been running this build for two days now and so far , meh it's alright.
Audio [mic] and Camera issues are definitely annoying.
SELinux is COMPLETELY disabled on this build. If You want security go back to stock.
SELinux enforcing is the goal though.
I strongly recommend using a "traditional" root os SuperSU over systemless-root.
Reasons:
Opengapps requires a factory-reset or fresh install to set up correctly!
Privacy Guard based root sucks. It forgets alot of permissions granted.
Use BETA-SuperSU-v2.52 , I wil attach below as it seems hard to find by conventional means.
Would have posted earlier but needed a smoke break *>cough<* :silly:

since that worked the best for me in the past.

Would be easier to keep the ROM as daily and test if it supported the dual sim version phones too
Apart from that, some of my observations during a small period of usage :
Pardon me if these are already mentioned.
Screen brightness doesn't reach full capacity
Speaker volume is low I think
For me, I felt the display had some slight glitches. Enabled GPU rendering in developer settings and felt it got better , can't guarantee on this though
Had to revert to stock based since sim functionality for me wasn't available ( I have a dual sim phone)
Ashray_Vk
Okay good deal, umm let me try compiling a seperate kernel package.
Yep brightness is currently HORRIBLE
I didn't notice any glitches display-wise, do you actually mean lag in some screen transitions?
I only tested with radioball and raging thunder.
The build i just tested out had full WOW, HOW THE HELL DO I TURN THIS DOWN BRIGHTNESS. :silly:
So either atm i get crappy brightness as max level which is like 75% of stock.
Or i get the nice stock brightness but the slider breaks/doesn't work.
The speaker volume is limited to where it actually should be. Use a mediaplayer that has an option for software decoding, that is a 100% [double] boost. It's not the idea to bomb out the speakers by default, each user can find their own tweak.
m
On the "daily build" thing, my upload time is horrible, so i will not be pushing out excessive/pointless builds. when i have something else fixed, then i will upload another build. Currently i'm boxing with the brightness issue and getting the mic working for audio recording.

By screen glitches, I meant that I saw a few glitches when I scrolled down menus ( like even settings app).
Might be just my sleepy eyes too, lol. And in the beginning, everything was feeling laggy, till I enabled those GPU options in the developer settings and turned the screen off and turned it back on.
Don't rely on this data though, I hope someone else verifies this thing before you take it up as an issue .

There was lag in the beginning, no doubt. Lag was there since the boot animation itself.
Yes! Screen tearing is the term i was searching for. I felt like I saw minor issues of screen tearing along with the lag. ( especially when I scrolled down the settings )

K,
right now we are working on an Alpha build, self evident in thread title. Xposed being superfluous/unecessary is not being discussed in this thread. Of course later on in the release/beta level thread it will most likely be covered.
@KbaB.BroS
On the good side got brightness and auto brightness sorted.
@Ashray_Vk , give me a bit on the dsds kernel, from what I'm understanding SS an DS were supposed to have been combined, so I am running a fresh build after resync, which on my comp will take a day :silly: adn probably not as long as the actual upload

Normally, if I'd flash a stock based ROM which was meant for single sim, one sim would work in the dual sim models but the memory card would be not detected . sadly, that wasn't the case with cm though. Not even a single sim gets detected.

you tried enabling only single SIM mode in Sony's (or other) "Stock" ROM and then flashing this ROM ?
Then at least one SIM might work - unless of course the Z5 devices handle things entirely differently

@zacharias.maladroit WHAT HAPPENED TO PERRY !?!?!?!? :crying:
@moonbutt74
I'm sort of wiping the slate clean in several areas of my life - and that (unfortunately) was part of it
Custom ROMs like CyanogenMod does not have Moto Display. Ambient Display is not bad, but Moto Display uses the sensors more efficiently. Also many people prefer Moto Display over Ambient Display. So it is a request to port the Official Moto Display app as a flashable zip, just like Moto Camera and Moto Gallery has been ported.
Pretty sure it has been tried and failed... it ties into the stock ROM's kernel and framework in ways the other apps do not in order to function, and they are not supported in 3rd party ROMs.

The application in question has already been tried by me for those days in cm13, I tried a port that was unsuccessful because I needed to include your work in a kernel .... as I am without server I can not create kernels or roms, I'm really just helping in developments,
TIP:
Cm14.1 has its ambient display improved compared to cm13, I realized it!
Try to use and verify, after all, it may be that later the same will come to cm13.

I'll check if I still have something in my github account, so I'll see step information right here for you.
I'am interested and would like to know , how ambient display works? Is it similar to the moto display? (it prevents to waking up the device?), because we can read:
"Moto Display has been engineered to show critical information even when you phone is asleep. Even though the display fades in and out to ensure you are notified of the important stuff, we use very little power (just a few percent of the total battery capacity)"
Thanks

Display environment is the same as Moto Display, believe me, I use it here in cm14.1 and I did not see any big differences other than the bubble you slip, but everything notifies very well and works the same way.
