CM11 Nightlies flashing radio and three other things - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone here use the cm nightlies and knows that the other things being flashed contain? The recovery log mentions something like "msm" and "logo." I'm just like of curious because I'm using paranoid android now and am obssesive about keeping every bit up to date lol. Thanks for anyone's time.

well i tested PA when it was very buggy but im currently running cm11 nightlies...I didnt like CM11S had a few nasty bugs. Im currently rocking the cm11 nightly because its constant updates and everything works. I have had just 1 issue and that is my GPS not locking on correctly but I should be able to find a fix soon... or ill just flash a new rom.

Have you tried the screencast app from the cm11s in the themes and apps section? I cannot get it to record anything on cm11 nightlies it just creates empty video files....
Edit: it only works after flashing the zip, installing apk or pushing it to system/app doesn't work.... I guess that priv-app directory matters lol

PA 2.99 ports?

Hey guys, I'm super curious to try out PA 2.99 with PIE controls but have yet to find anything.
I found one for the international version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727657
Has anyone heard of anyone attempting to port it?
Links? Google hasn't found me any results
Usually 99.9% of the time if its not here its not out there at all. Just remember don't flash anything from out of here

Just wait. Rohan is working on it. It will come to our device soon.

Like I posted before, I have a PA 2.99 4.2.1 build booting on our device. Everything is functional except the SDCard is not mounting.
The issue would normally not be present if this was 4.1.X since back then, PA was CM based, so the CM tree worked without issue. However now they have moved to a pure AOSP base so it makes it really hard to get our device up and running. It requires extensive modifications and many of things was not working before. I've fixed everything so far besides SDCard mounting. Sit tight.
And when Rohan says something is gonna get done, something is gonna get done.
Looks like PA 3.0 came out a couple hours ago!

[ROMs][10/28/2013][D801 T-Mo]Unofficial - CM - Paranoid Android - AOKP - Vanir

Just something I slapped together to see if I can get it working on the D800 and what features I want to incorporate into my multi-flavor CM base build I am working on. I did not take the time to compile these ROMs. Other users have compiled them and I just ported them to work on the D800. Just sharing these versions for now until official ROMs come.

If you want to report bugs than I suggest you find the ROM thread in the G2 Original or Android Development forums and post the bugs there since the creators will see it.
Will gladly root and flash this right now, anything to help development for us forsaken T-Mobile users lol. Thanks for this.

Isn't that the gapps for 4.2.2? CM10.2 is 4.3 so you need gapps-jb-20130813 if I'm not mistaken. I'm about to flash the rom and gapps right now and report what I have.

Doing the same as this individual and will see what comes out of it.
So far so good. Was getting random FC on android.process.media while Play Store was downloading all my apps which caused Play Store to crash, but that seemed to have stopped once the Play Store itself updated to the latest version that came out recently (the one where the menu pulls out from the left side rather than via a button).
Now everything seems to be working just fine. No FCing, keyboard works. Gonna report back after a few hours once I take it through its paces for my personal use. Thank you soooo so much, I couldn't stand the stock LG ROM.
EDIT:
No default ringtones or notification sounds if that counts as a bug lol
Also just got a FC from android.process.media again on the home screen randomly.

Downloaded and flashed (using latest gapps) and the camera / gallery is having force closes. Every time that the camera is opened, I get "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" however, when I open gallery, it works properly.
* Data connects properly
* Texts seem to come through just fine
* Google Now always says that there is a network error and to try again. EDIT: seems to have resolved itself.
* Gmail / Email seems to be working
* Browser is as fast as ever
* APN's seem to be set correctly on both epc.tmobile.com and fast.t-mobile.com (LTE)
So far, excellent start!
EDIT: I can't seem to download anything from the Play store. I can browse the play store just fine, but can't download?? Probably just my phone, but thought I'd mention it.

I use AT&T but can get a T-Mobile edition and just sim unlock it. I was going to get the T-Mobile version and unlock it but my friend had an upgrade he did not use and owed me a favor so I got the AT&T version instead.

nope those 3 build threads are it
I suggest using kitkang http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525831
as its the latest rom with Nightlys going on every night
and seems to be the only one making progress so far (FCC,SD,Overall UI smoothness,Video GPU performance)
SSPENCER10 is working very well for me. Everything he is putting out is stable and appears to be having fewer issues than KitKang. It is even working just as well with ART as it was with Dalvik. The 11-23 build also has the new CM11 boot animation.

You realize they are all based on exactly the same code right?
And you realize that if one makes 'progress' they all make 'progress' because they use the same code right?
[ROM][4.3.1][Official][OSE Rom][d2vzw]
I'm using this one and so far so good.
It has nightlies that have 4.4
I'd recommend KitKang. It's been extremely stable and has really good battery life. ART works very well.

Summary: I don't think KitKang is recognizing my SIM card, and is causing "Phone" to crash every second or two.
Hey guys, I tried flashing the latest KitKang ROM last night, but ran into a big issue. I wiped system, cache, dalvik cache, etc. I then reflashed the MF1 firmware (it was already flashed, but for some reason I always feel better re-flashing it every time.) Then I flashed the latest KitKang D2VZW nightly linked above, and flashed the GApps mentioned in that thread too. However, upon rebooting, every second or so it would say "phone has forced closed" (or something along those lines. Also, there was no signal. I got through the setup process after a VERY long time of pressing "okay" to that error and setting up my CM and Google accounts with one key in between each error. I thought I would be able to go into Mobile Networks and change the settings, which fixed certain early issues with CM10.1 or 10.2, but to no avail. I then tried reflashing (after wiping clean) CM10.2 again to get certain files for the phone to work, then flashing CM11 over that, and it seemed to work up until it freezes after getting to the home screen. Any thoughts on what the issue may be and/or how to fix it?
Thanks!

[Q] lets make a list of ROMS for TeamWin Recovery Project 2.7.1.0(kitkat Bootloader))

Can we start a list of sorts with Roms that work with the new bootloader?? so far i read that Dhacker29 has a few test builds of cm11 . i have one installed right now and it has some bugs but works and is faster than my hd has ever been . i can run this game i like and before it couldnt play without lagging now it runs crazy fast . anyway thank you Dhacker29 for the recovery and rom. i was reading another site and someone mentioned another dev that had a test build out for the new recovery but i cant for the life of me find or remember who it was. also how can i tell if a rom will work without trying to install it. i read that the kernel had to be 3.5 and newer or some shshhsh. anyway thanks in advance to anyone that responds
I second this. Was actually thinking of suggesting the same thing. Might help keep people from flashing the JB kernel Roms and asking what they did wrong. Least maybe a bit more.

i think you can install the stock files and then root and use a root app manager to remove all the bloatware from your phone. there is even a thread that tells you all the apps you can get rid of without jacking anything up. here you can check it out

after root you can download xposed installer and then download one of the customizing modules and you can then change your icons in the status bar. nav bar, even alter the way your toast messages come in . anything you can think change the color of your wifi and 4g icons or change them to something entirely diff . here check that out too . you probably already know all this already but just in case.

Yeah I don't know if any have xt925 support or not. Hopefully they will include them eventually.
Gummy Rom
I recently tried Gummy Rom for 3.4 kernel. It was pretty good, but had trouble with bluetooth freezing the phone and wifi dropout at times. It has great progress, and appreciate those who are working on it. :good:
I have installed dhacker's 4.4 cm build from 24/6. Happy to report that it boots - and so far, at least - works great. This is on an xt925! It's the first 4.4 bootloader rom other than moto that I have got to actually boot up on this phone.
I installed gummy and have been using the auto updater running nightlies right now I'm running 6-24 build . it seems like the the previous ver. had fixed the screen dimming issue but it seemed to come back on this ver. but rarely happens I haven't tied Bluetooth yet and the popping/static sound issue is still there but other than that I like the rom . thanks for

btw, for xt925, dhacker says that we only need the new bootloader (maybe installing the leaked soak test from France we can use the newest roms)

[Q] Give a second life to my Nexus S

Hi,
I decided to post my own topic and not in the CM11 thread, because this is probably not a CM11 issue. As you know, the Nexus S has only 512MB of RAM including video. Mine has been having quite a lot of slowdowns (apps refreshes/restarts) for the past weeks. I am wondering what I could do to help it and avoid buying a new phone (no money and I still love that phone).
However now, there are few things that I can't do anymore.
- I can't listen to BeyondPod (podcasts) and receive/send SMS in Hangout. There's not enough RAM to run both apps and even when I am listening to BeyondPod, the SMS alert might not trigger when a SMS is received. This happens in few apps here and there.
- Sometimes, someone calls me and the screen stays black so I can't answer. Again, this is due to RAM usage.
- I use SwiftKey as keyboard and it can't take 30-45 seconds to load in some apps such as Chrome.
I am running CM11 Nightlies. I usually update CM11 once per 2 weeks with the lastest Nightly available. I don't wipe the entire configs, I just upgrade. It's been a while since I've wiped everything to be honest. I probably updated CM10 to CM11 without wiping the configs. This might be one thing to try but I am not sure if it would help to regain some RAM/juice. I am running the stock kernel of CM11. I know there are few kernels with a bigmem patch, but does it really work ?
As for launcher, I am running Apex Launcher as well with SwipePad. Greenify runs in the background and hibernate pretty much every apps it can. I don't have the Greenify donation package, so it won't hibernate on the system apps.
I am wondering if wiping everything and installing a stable version of CM11 (or another lighter ROM?) would help. I would use TItanium Backup to reinstall the apps and their settings. I wouldn't use TiB to push the configs of the ROM if CM11 is reinstalled. Would a kernel or ROM with bigmem patch a good idea ?
This would probably be a temporary fix, because apps and ROMs are asking for more and more CPU/RAM these days.
Thanks for any input,
Neo.
A clean flash isn't a bad idea, just backup your rom first.. Backup your apps/ data on your SD with titanium backup and then you can just restore them.. You could try my stable v1.1 script and use Guru (CM kernel with bigmem) or Devil and you will notice the improvement.. Also the CM m9 is a very nice rom.. Happy flashing..

Thanks for your answer Setting.Out.
Before I receive your answer, I did some research on my side as well. It turns out that I have downloaded your ROM (the Farewell edition) and the cn.fyodor AOSP 4.4.3 ROM. I decided to go ahead and install the AOSP ROM instead of yours. I wanted to try AOSP instead of CM, being a CM user for the past 2-3 years. While I was satisfied with the AOSP ROM for the past day or 2, I am now unsure if I will keep it. While performances are good compared to what I was used to, I have some issues. The videos in YouTube are lagging like crazy (although videos in VLC work fine) and the audio stutter sometimes. I listen to a lot of music and each few minutes, it will stutter for a split second. I never had that issue with CM11. Also, I can't find a kernel with bigmem on AOSP. There is the marmite kernel from bedalus which seemed promising, but everyone is having FC with the Google Play Store and BLN/BLD isn't working anymore on this kernel.
How does your ROM compare with CM11 ? I know yours is CM based. Is there less "bloatwares" in yours ? CM install lots of stuff (themes, bugs reporting, etc) and I don't want that. I prefer to use the Xposed Framework instead of a ROM with multiple settings that I don't use. Having a CM based ROM would be nice to be able to flash the Guru kernel.

It basically is CM11, a little less bloated, but similar feature set.. Give it a try, you can always flash another rom if it doesn't suite you.. Slim 5.1 is another favorite of mine, if you'd like to try that one you'll need to search their thread as it wasn't a public release..

Your "Farewell edition" is Kitkat 4.4.4 or 4.4.2 ? So that I can download the appropriate Gapps. I also understand that the Gapps you provide in your thread are a minimal package, so my Nexus S doesn't run out of space (which happened to me few months ago due to the new official Gapps package).
Thanks
