[Q] MTK8389 vs Intel Atom Z2520 vs Allwinner A31s - General Questions and Answers

Which chipset is better suited for gaming overall?
All tablets that I'm looking at have 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM.
MTK(1.2Ghz, Quad) has PowerVR SGX544 single core(MP) graphics chip @ 300Mhz.
Intel(1.2Ghz, Dual) has PowerVR SGX544 dual core(MP2) graphics chip @ 300Mhz.
Allwinner(1Ghz, Quad) has a custom PowerVR Series5XT SGX544 dual core(MP2) graphics chip @ 355Mhz.
I would appreciate reviews/opinions based on actual user experience.
Purely for gaming, and I'm not talking about Facebook games or social stuff, I mean like - Heroes of Order & Chaos, Real Racing 3(on Medium at least), Asphalt 8: Airborne, etc.

Bump.

[Q] [HELP] Buying S3 Clone (DualCore+Mali400 / QuadCore+SGX531?)

Hi!
I wanted to try getting a samsung s3 clone. Already spotted some phone is our place having better specs but still I can decide which should I go that's why Im posting here to ask everyone who had tried this kind of phones.
My first choice and what I'm really been eyeing :
- QUAD-CORE ARMv7 PROCESSOR(VFPv3,NEON)
- SCREEN RESOLUTION: 720 x 1280
- GPU RENDERER: POWERVR SGX 531
- GPU VERSION (OPENGL): OPENGLE ES 2.0
- ANTUTU SCORE : 9789
Cant really tell exactly whats the actual CPU used but antutu doesnt detect it as any MTK cpu. The specs is really impressive except that it uses and SGX 531 for gpu at 720. I wonder if I could play NOVA 3 with this phone.
Second choice :
- CPU: Mediatek MT6577 1.4Ghz ( Dual Core )
- GPU: Mali 400 ( Quad GPU )
- RAM: 512MB DDR3
- Resolution: 720 x 1280 ( 16M Colors )
- Antutu Score : 6745
This phone has less impressive CPU but the gpu used is quite superior than of the first one. Seen someone using this and able to run NOVA 3. I know benchmark tools are not as realistic than of the actual use.
Both phones have :
- RAM: 512MB DDR3
- Storage: 4GB ROM ( 2.5GB Usable / Expandable up to 32GB Micro SD Card )
- Camera: Dual Camera 8MP Back & 1.3MP
- Connectivity: 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS
- SIM Card: Single SIM ( 1 Micro SIM )
- Operating System: Android v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
I really prefer to get the first one since its a quad-core and it scores a whooping 9k in antutu its only drawback is that it uses SGX531 gpu. Anybody tried playing HD games at 720p resolution with SGX531 gpu? Please tell me if NOVA 3 is playable in my first choice or should I trade the cpu for better gpu and get the second one?
Also, I was already able to watch this VIDEO i wonder if quadcore would make a difference in gameplay.
Thanks in advance for the response! :highfive:
any idea guys?

Don't buy sgx531, it's a low end gpu by today's standard. Mali400 is ALOT better and can play most games.
It's not point buying a quadcore cpu paired with a low end gpu, basically you will suffer at games.
I agree with tablighs...

Which android gpu is the best?

1. Adreno
Adreno series ATI which is made, or used to be called ATI imageon series, circa 2002-2004 is at the beginning of the release of this GPU series. In 2008, AMD imageon sold to one of the leading manufacturers of processors, namely Quallcom. And now ATI / AMD only supportsthe architecture and development only. Now Adreno series is inherited from all the SOC (System On Chip) made Quallcom.
2. PowerVR
PowerVR Series is the first artificial logic video also enliven the VGA market, but as the dominance of NVIDIA and ATI video logic now only play in the world of mobile gadgets GPU. PowerVR itself is not in production in finished form by power logic, but they are only a draft architecture, which sold thelicense to many of the leading processor manufacturers such asNEC, Intel, Freescale, Texas Instruments and others.
PowerVR Series now in its sixth series, the second ever used in its game console in the 1900s, the Dream cast, and Sega Saturn. PowerVR SGX Series 5 is the series most often found on smartphones, SGX GPU 5 is an elite in the world of smartphones, the world might belike BMW cars.
3. Mali
Mali series, this GPU is made in the ARM architecture, though still rarely heard his name, but its power can not be underestimated. Mali GPU series outstanding from HDTVs, gamingconsoles (PS3), up to a smartphone. Especially for smartphone, the series used is 400MP4 Mali (MP is the core indicators used). GPU is part of the SOC A9 1.2GHz Exynos dual-core CPU Samsung's Galaxy SII. Reportedly 400MP4 Mali is ableto render almost equivalent to the PS3 and Xbox 360.
4. GeForce ULP
Series GeForce ULP (Ultra Low Power) are concentrated in that part of the GPU Tegra 2 SOC manufactured by NVIDIA. GeforceULP uses quadcore 4 pixel shaders + 4 vertex shaders up to a total of 8 cores that are in it.
If for determining the performance of course can not be separated from what SOC is used, it is very difficult to determine the point which is used for comparison because each GPU is highly dependent on the performance and support of its SOC. For instance, SOC OMAP 4 series with SGX540 GPU vs quadcore Tegra 2 ULP GeForce GPU with 8core, hello who wouldwin? When to see the number of cores, by naked eyes 8core candidate who will be on the GeForce ULP but when calculating SOC capabilities then look OMAP 4 was able to bulldozeTegra 2, not only from the benchmark results, framerate, javascript rendering, but also within a matter of efficiency in the use battere .
This is not surprising because the OMAP 4 has a few secret weapons like supports dual channel DDR2 memory up to 1GB LP, where the new Tegra 2 is capable of using a single channel.Back again SOC capabilities greatly determine the outcome, as well as Snapdragon with its core scorpion, would be defeated perform with Tegra 2? Not really, mainly for multimedia results which force snapdragon and Adreno indeed in optimizingon this side.
i think andreno still the best one
andreno or mali :fingers-crossed:
guys I would like to go with Mali
If we're going to talk about actual numbers for actual GPUs that you can buy then this is what's available:
Adreno 320 (Snapdragon 600), Geforce ULP (Tegra3), PowerVR SGX 544MP3 (Exynos 5 quad), Mali T604 (Exynos 5 dual).
So far from what we know of 3DMark, GLBenchmark and some other tests, the approximate order of performance from best to worse is:
PowerVR, Adreno, Mali, Geforce.
This WILL change because of newer versions coming out (Tegra4 for example). For now though, I'd consider Adreno and PowerVR to be ahead, PowerVR for sheer performance and Adreno for a good balance between power, performance and die size.
ill go for mali

Android 3d games lag

Title says it all. Some are unplayable, some are lagging like hell. Even when I try freeing up my memory from different processes it still lags
Specs:
cpu: Cortex-A9, 1GHz DUAL CORE
gpu: PowerVR SGX 531/OpenGL ES 2.0
ram: 512 mb
os: android 4.0.4
Any suggestions?
Judging by the specs, that's a phone from a few years back.
The only way you're going to substantially improve gaming performance is by upgrading to the newest generation of quad core qualcomm/adreno phones.

actually, In this phone you cant play games such as Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation!!. it will run it will lag on action places and will get Force Closed at high action places... and same on other high-end games!
That is to be expected with those specs...
To run a 3D game truly smoothly, you'll need at least a Snapdragon 600, 2GB RAM, and an Adreno 320 or an Nvidia.
Preferably a Snapdragon 800/805, 3GB RAM and an Adreno 330/420.

These games won't work on RAZR M...

MTK6735 vs MTK6582

Hi,
I am trying to decide between the two phones below and could use some help. I know that the doogee has a better processor, GPU and more ram but the vk700 pro makes up for it in other areas.
So my question is how much of a performance difference between the two would there really be?
Doogee X6 Pro
CPU: MTK6735 64bit
Cores: Quad Core, 1GHz
GPU: Mali-T720
RAM: 2GB RAM
VK700 Pro
CPU: MTK6582
Cores: 1.3GHz, Quad Core
GPU: Mali-400 MP
RAM: 1GB RAM
Thanks in advance
Currently I possess two doogee models - DG700 (6582) and Y100 Pro (6735). To my regret, I haven't seen any performance boost at all. More than that, I found 6735 (1ghz) is vastly outperformed by 6582 in terms of 2D graphics! Tested with Kung Fury, Shadow Fight 2, Vector. At least that was my experience with these 2 SoCs. It loads apps a bit faster and can keep more apps in memory due to 2GB, but that's it. IMO 6735 is a fail. At least 1Ghz.

Help! Whats the difference in performance for these chips?

Hi Tech Gurus,
I'm not the most well verse with tech. Looking for some guidance.
I'm in the market for an external android box for my car. There are 2 options I'm choosing from with the following hardware:
1. Grom VL2: Rockchip 3288 - Quad Core Arm Cortex A17 1.8GHz / Mali-T760 MP4 GPU
2. Lsailt: Allwinner T7 - Hexa Core Arm Cortex A7 1.2GHz / Mali-400 MP4 GPU
Which of these have better performance? 4 big cores vs 6 small cores for a head unit powered by car?
Thanks,
Tech Noob
If you're looking at the processor alone the RK3288 is 50% faster for 33% less cores and it has many improvements over the T7 design. But the speed of the system is very much affected by the amount of memory (RAM). No matter which HU you go with get one that has at least 2GB of RAM.

Both has 3gb of RAM. Thanks for the input. The T7 I believe was released in 2018 while the RK3288 was released in 2014. I thought newer might be better but thanks for confirming that the RK3288 should perform better.
