[Q] Better 4K Camera on android? - General Questions and Answers

Hi All, what makes the 4K content that your phones camera better? does the Snapdragon 805 provide better 4K capture than the 801?
Also is there a third party stable 4K Video recorder apk for android phones? (Assuming the phone its used on actually supports 4k)
Will the Galaxy Note 3 4K recording be worse than the Note 4's 4K Recording?
Just in case anyone is woundering, my phone is the Oppo find 7a, though my questions are aimed at the broader picture of 4K, not 4K on my phone so i thought it would be best placed in the general forum.
Thanks!

How to get 4K video on Gcam? I only get 1080p max

HI, people, Realme 5 Pro owner here.
The highest video resolution on my Gcam is 1080p and I don't have an option for 4K video.
How to get the 4K option?
I tried installing Gcam v6 and Gcam v7 - same deal on both. They both do not offer 4K video.
By the way, is there any app out there that would allow me to have EIS on 4K video?
Anyone with an answer?
I was just wondering how do most people get 4K video on their Gcams with Realme 5 Pro.
Do I have to mess with root access? Anything that I am missing here?
Also, my Gcam does not support 48 Megapixel photos... The largest I can go on the rear camera is 8 Megapixel. It also crashes when I try to shoot slow motion.
What a mess! There are so many problems with this thing... I am starting to regret buying the phone.
Same question here. ?

1080p 240fps unavailable?

Could anyone who has their phone check if you can select 1080p 240fps in the camera app under slow motion? Mine only lets me use 720p for 240fps recording, although both 720p and 1080p are available for 120fps.
I have the CC9 Pro (Chinese version of the Mi Note 10), although I checked the official spec sheet for both the CC9 Pro on the Chinese Xiaomi site as well as the Mi Note 10 on the global Xiaomi site, and both state that 1080p 240fps recording should be possible.
Thanks!
no there's no 1080p 240fps in my cc9pro China rom
With custom mods shoold be possible to add 240fps at 1080 and also 4k 60fps
Also don't get 1080 240p on my Mi Note 10 Pro
Thanks guys, I've since flashed a global ROM onto my CC9 Pro and it's still the same. Seems like it's neither a region or hardware limitation since Kasallamacher's Mi Note 10 Pro has the same issue. It's interesting that all the official information shows that the phone supports 1080p 240fps recording though, hopefully more people notice soon and Xiaomi will do something about it, as I did buy this phone for its camera capabilities after all.
We need someone to unlock 1080 240fps and 4k 60 fps with a custom rom/mod asap!
What do we have to do?
I really need 240 fps?
I bought this phone for its camera features
Nope no 240 FPS
is there any rom or any magisk module that would unlock 240fps 1080p AS ADVERTISED EVERYWHERE...?
so weird that no one has this.
Well, Xiaomi official info:
"1080P slow motion recording 120fps / 240fps"
exactly...

i just got my phone. had to look at the settings. 240 and 960 are 720P only which is weird. the camera should be able to handle it. on the note 10/note 10 pro page it does say 1080p slow motion 240fps. So thats weird (no asterisk either about the pro only being able to do it).

HDR Recording, SNAP 865 Capable

So, Qualcomm said that Snapdragon 845 to 865 is capable to record HDR/HDR10/HDR10+/DOLBY VISION videos, our phone have the last and more powerful one.
The question is, we have this feature or not? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the system or camera app, the only mention to hdr is in the specsheet from oficial site.
The last samsung phones from s9 up have this, so processing power is not the factor.
If it can't do this is a hardware limitation or xiaomi reserved it for the ultra high priced flagships?
Maybe someone can figure it out.
This is the official video from Qualcomm, they said is recorded with S10s and N10s.
Researched a little more and find that SD865 can do other dozen of things that we dont have, like 4K 120fps record, 720p 960fps without limit and more... So, software limitation? Hardware? Poco forced by xiaomi limitation?
I am looking for the same. The dynamic range is too low in the stock camera, I want more than one frame to be taken and combined in the video to obtain a better dynamic range. The Snapdragon 865 is capable of doing that and I can't find a way to do it. I also remember seeing it in a Galaxy S9 +, it seems that Xiaomi limits us functions to give them to superior phones (Mi 10 Ultra i think?). I have not tried the ANX camera yet.
EDIT: Mi 10 ultra has "Dual ISO Fusion Super Dynamic technology", basically HDR recording.
There are some mods to enable hdr10 in miui like this but these mods are very old. I don't want or need the hdr10+, I'm just looking for Dual ISO recording, just like the mi 10 ultra.

Some users said that IS the camera module/sensor that don't support so high Bandwidth, something with dram. They say that the camera module almost fryes when recording 8k vídeo...
But i don't think that It can handle 8k30 but not 1080pHDR or 720p960fps more than 1-2 seconds....

So the IMX586 sensor can and the version that supposedly followed it, the IMX686 can't? They could also have implemented it by software, making it shoot at 1080p 120 and interleave frames with different iso to form an hdr image at 1080p 30.
I think that Xiaomi's problem is that they have so many devices that they don't have time to develop each one well. (G translate)

The imx586 can do hdr video? Which phone?
Maybe is software limitation by xiaomi to try sell their high end phones (mi10/pro/ultra)
Tino are you BR as well?
pocof2 can record hdr10 also with eis enabled. from 1080p-8k. but not with stock camera.
to get it working you must use the hvec codec("omx.qcom.video.encoder.hvec")
profile level: "hvec profile main10 hdr10 hvechightierlevel6"
then you can set the key org.quic.camera2.streamconfigs.HDRVideoMode to 1 for hlg or 2 for pq.
after that the poco records 10 bit.

4k 60?

I was looking through the video quality settings on my A71 and there doesn't seem to be a 4K 60fps option. If i'm not mistaken, the 765g is capable of 4k 60 and I know the camera hardware surely does so what's up with that?

Question How can I get my Samsung A53 to support 60fps Ultrawide Lens Recordings?

Hello! I recently purchased a new phone over Black Friday and was sad to see that the camera didn't support 60fps Ultrawide Lens recordings... (0.5x view).
That leaves me with 2 questions:
Which Samsung phones do support 60fps Ultrawide Lens Recordings? (I tried looking this up but couldn't find any oddly enough?)
Does GCam support 60fps recordings? I tried installing Camera2 Probe to check if my phone is compatible but it says my phone is limited to FPS ranges at max 30. Should I still try installing it and see if GCam supports it? Are there any other third party mod cameras that support 60fps Ultrawide Lens recordings?
Thank you
I'm probably the wrong person to an extent to help with that since its camera/video lol... but the s22 ultra at least appears to be able to:
It is possible that its simply a limitation of the A53 camera app or feature kept for higher end phones. If its a hardware limitation, the specs of the hardware don't seem to state it either way. It is obviously able to do 0.5x at 30 and its obviously able to do 1x 60 so I'd assume it could do 0.5x 60 if the hardware blob for its camera allows it. It simply might not be allowed by Samsung on the A53 or another app might offer it if its allowed. I can't imagine the performance being unable to deal with it.
