The Smart IR Remote is not currently working with the LG G3. I inquired to the developers about the issue and here is their response:
"Hello Steven,
When LG updated their phones/tablets to Android 4.4 KitKat, they chose not to correctly implement the IR Blaster APIs Google introduced, thus making our app (and all other 3rd party apps) incompatible with phones like the G2/G3 or the G-Pad.
We've been in contact with LG and convinced them to grant us access to the IR Blaster and hopefully they will give us access in a month or so.
Regards,
Alina"
So there you guys go. Hopefully we will have access to this app in a month or so.

This remote and others don't work on our LG phones:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy
The stock remote does work fine as you said. The other apps are much more robust though.
I have issues with the ir blasted working sporadically. I had to directly line up the blaster to the ir of the tv, receiver, etc. Anyone else having this issue?
No matter what, I can never stay away from android for long.

Mine works very well but as you said I have to point the IR light directly at the spot on my TV where it receives it.
I have a question for any of you that has direct TV. Is there a way to get the remove to show the guide?
I usually use the button reset to assign a key to one of the remote, but the ir app does not seem to identify any of the direct TV remote keys when you press it to the ir blaster. It works for every other remote I have. Is there a workaround for this?

Smart IR Remote dev here.
The build with G3 support is here (sorry other LG owners, no luck yet): http://bit.ly/16p0Exd
And here are 5 license keys, first come first served:

We're also updating the app tomorrow on Google Play with support for the G3, so that everyone can get it from there too We've confirmed with multiple customers that it works, so we're pretty confident to do that.
Recording doesn't work, also because of limitations from LG. We're trying to get proper support for recording on the G3 and any kind of decent support for other LG devices (like the G2 and GPad 8.3), but that might be a while too.
Thanks for the help!

No, I mean once I set up my cable box, can I go to the guide, hit search, and then access a keyboard instead of having to use the arrow buttons to select a letter and spell out a show title letter by letter that I want to search for? Would like to be able to just type the show name on a keyboard in the app to make it easier/faster.

Hi guys... As you can see in this article:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/25/skype-mobile-for-verizon-on-android-hands-on-with-wifi-off/
Skype has been released... BUT FOR VERIZON CUSTOMERS ONLY!
But don't worry.. there is a way to get it, just download Market Enabler and set a custom value "310012" < for Verizon.
Then you will be able to download Skype Mobile but if you start it you are going to get the message "Sorry Skype couldn't detect your phone number" and will quit...
I'm sure there is a way to bypass this too... the question is how ?
EDIT:
The new Skype with wifi/data chat/calling is out today.. find it on the market! YAY
I noticed one thing interesting, on my Droid I have the leaked sbf aka 2.1 build ese53 and it shows up under Market Enabler as "310004" and Skype as well as the various Fios apps are not available to me in the market. Whats funny though is I still have the Verizon tab on my Market and a few Verizon apps are listed such as vcast media manager and vzw tones.
Does anyone have a direct link to the apk for Skype?
I can upload the apk when I'm back at home after few hours.
I wonder from where/which value is Skype trying to get the phone number...
Here is the apk...
Cool now, how do I make this work?
I got that msg on my inactive sprint hero too. It gave the same msg whether wifi was on or off.

Any chance editing this or another xml might help it connect?
Hope somebody gets this to work for T-mobile. It would be awesome.
Yeah.. I hope someone with more knowledge gets it working!
Interesting!!
Us 'three' users on 2.1 maybe able to edit the dial out number and be able to have the app working properly. As the 'skype on 3 beta' only works on 1.5 hero roms.
I subbed to this thread because all android users need a decent skype app.
I have Verizon and this app is fail. You would want to use Fring anyways. You cant use the internet or anything using the skype app because it uses voice and you cant use wifi. Use fring and you can use all these things

Hey, I have the XV6900 and 3g (no wifi) with verizon. I should be able to use this no problem right? Fring has been an issue in the past, not installing properly or not functioning at all. Is that the most up to date skype out there for testing? I would like to be able to use it over the 3g as verizon specified.

Yes it works now as they released an updated version when they started selling the new samsung. If you check the other skype threads you'll see the whole story.
Also my post was before they released 0.10.0.4 so that was the case back then.
But because 'skype on 3' doesn't really work on any other network (apart from verizon's version) i left discussing that further out of this thread.

All Android users have it. It's called Fring.
Fring is working great with Skype, but still - too much overhead. I'd like to get this application working too.
I did a google search trying to find out if I bought a bluetooth backup camera will it pair with my Android phone (HTC Rezound)

it should pair with it but you will need an Android based app to view the video feed on your phone.

Yes you could buy the camera between $ 50 to $ 100 that will fit your vehicle compared to the aftermarket kits that are out there that will run $ 400 to $ 1700 (OEM) for certain vehicles, that will use the OEM Nav Screen
Not looking to have a gazillion screens in the car, one for each single application.
Lets bring our tablets/phones to good use !
Hope developers are listening, because they could make real good money on something like this
Anyone got this figured out yet? I found this app http://www.appszoom.com/android_developer/juergen-kienhoefer_byhny.html that might work. but not having any luck finding a bluetooth enabled camera that's waterproof and wide angle that would work for the application. The one for that app is spendy and I don't think it'll work as it just uses an on board battery for the power so you'd have to take it out and charge it regularly and I highly doubt it's waterproof.
I did purchase a cheap backup cam and was trying to find a bluetooth transmitter that I could hook it to either via the cam's RCA output or a 3.5mm jack via an adaptor.
I would love to find an app or have one developed for this that would automatically pair and display the camera once the camera is turned on via the backup lights.
i been trying to figure this out as well
but i want a camera that is on all the time while i am riding my motorcycle and use my GN2 as a monitor
i came across these 3 possible options
this camera which says it works via wifi with android os but the camera seems to big for my application
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230949437787?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
2nd option is another wifi camera but you have to view streaming via the web
this has a youtube video
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180862777730?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
3rd option is another wifi camera. im waiting on the seller to give me more iof if it will pair with my GN2
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321093995489?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
im still looking into bluetooth cameras and i will post what i find
I still cant believe that we dont have tons of options for this application.
Backup camera are very popular now a days you would think it would be a no brainer for android
thanks for the links, Keep me posted

Seems pretty expensive, but I am sure there are some other options out there. You have to use their app in order to view the camera's output and the framerate looks like it's pretty poor from what I saw on the iPhone version of the app. Not sure if Android will be better.

I purchased the 4ucam Wifi setup. It works good enough, but there is a problem. With the wifi setup to see the camera you can not get data over 4G. This means if you want to use the camera in your car and still be able to get email or map data etc. you must manually turn on your wifi and wait about 10 seconds for the camera to connect. Then when done using the camera (backing up) manually turn off the wifi to enable 4G data again. Then when you get home, manually turn on the wifi again to use your wifi internet connection.
You must also turn off the feature to auto switch between wifi and mobile networks.
This would be the same for any camera using wifi. I've not found a way to use a non-internet connected wifi network and get mobile network data at the same time.
Still searching for a way to get a backup camera on my android phone.
There is a startup in my town who is creating exactly what you want.
It looks great , but the price is a bit insane

File Beam is a quick application to send files using Android Beam™ (requires 4.1 and NFC hardware)
You've probably used Android Beam™ before, the AOSP Gallery, Contacts, Browser etc all use it.
However, I haven't seen any file managers that implement sending files using Android Beam™, so I made this app.
To use it, tap the share button on any file in any file manager, then tap two devices together.
The API to send files using Android Beam™ was added in 4.1, so the application won't work on anything before that (both devices need 4.1, but only the sender needs the app)
This application is ad-supported, there's a donate button in the app, but please note, it does NOT disable ads, this isn't a con scheme or anything, but this is my first Android app, and until I figure out how to track donations using an API or otherwise, that's how it's going to be (patch welcome though!)
The application is also open source, licensed under GPLv3, with the source available on Github: https://github.com/MohammadAG/android-file-beam

About the ™, Android docs have it on all mentions of Android Beam™, and I'm not sure about legalities and stuff, so I did the same.

Does it use the Bluetooth to transfer the file or Wifi Direct? Just to be clear, what I know is that NFC is only used to initiate the connection, then depending on the application it either sends the data by Wifi Direct or bluetooth. So which one does this uses? Sorry I haven't tried it yet, I only have one phone but Good Job mate.
Best of luck for the future.
EDIT: Sorry my bad, just read the description in the playstore and it uses Bluetooth.

The official docs say that Android Beam decides what to use. So afaik it should use either WiFi direct or bluetooth depending on the situation (in all my tests it used Bluetooth)

I love the concept of this app but why not force it to send files with nfc+wifi direct? bluetooth its useless for sending files, too damn slow :crying:
All I get is a notification on the device receiving the file saying "Incoming beam", and bluetooth turns on for both the devices, but no file is ever sent. I'm using the N4 and N7, is anyone else getting this?
Thank you for this! I just used NFC for the first time today and I was shocked to see this wasn't a built in Android feature. I saw the article on the main page and I quickly downloaded.

Hi,
Is compatible with previous versions of android 4.0+ .
And there is no need to have GPS enabled, with wifi is enought, and is more acurated than google trusted locations.
You can also read several threads of people complaining about native smart lock not working properly on their devices.
Personally, I prefer to use Smart Unlock app.

Hey,
We have tested on other CM build with no issues. I will try to test on CM12.
What behaviour do you exactly get? You connect to your wifi, open Smart Unlock, Click "+" button, select "add wifi" and , if im not wrong, you get there a message that says. "You are not connected to any wifi" ¿Right? Please , confirm the step to reproduce your issue under CM12 on Lg G3 . Regards

Yes that's right.
Turn wifi on, but message stays the same about not being connected to wifi.
Wi-fi seems to be working fine until I come across multiple routers with same name (e.g. at work). The option to 'add all wifi with the same name" might be beneficial. Secondly, having an option to connect to a reliable BT connection would be great as I use my phone a lot in the car. Keep up the good work.
Trying this on vs985 (vzw lg g3) running skydragon rom 2.0.1. When I try to connect to wifi it says the app has forceclosed. I have tried clear data and cache in the app, uninstalled and installed again. Any ideas?

Hey, I have no idea, It must be something related with the custom rom because for stock rom is working fine. Sorry I can not help with issues on custom roms, at least until we solve some other more important issues that we are facing now with samsung phones. Thanks for testing.

Wi-fi seems to be working fine until I come across multiple routers with same name (e.g. at work). The option to 'add all wifi with the same name" might be beneficial. Secondly, having an option to connect to a reliable BT connection would be great as I use my phone a lot in the car. Keep up the good work.

I second this, office space counts 6 routers plus that I had to add individual. Not a big problem but add all option is a nice to have option.
Also for me a time delay option when not in a secure location before locking would be a nice option.

We strongly believe that the delayed lock is a must have feature and we are working on it.
Thanks for your suggestion.
I was under the impression that this phone had MFC support. But after turning on NFC, trying my yubikey, notifying the nfc are I realized that the NFC is only for Google pay. What!
Ok actually I managed to use it between two phones to share url:s
But, common! Why not proper NFC? Google pay is not present here, and I have at least 5 devices that support nfc that is not working with this phone, the most annoying thing being my yubikey.
This is beyond bad actually...
The hardware is there but the software is strangled? Why remove something like this?

Apple only enables NFC for Apple Pay, I guess this part of HTC's new plan to emulate Apple.
Is this for real? Can other users confirm that there is no NFC Bluetooth pairing nor support for other accessories?
Look here confirms it: http://www.technobuffalo.com/videos/htc-one-a9-hands-on/
But would be nice if any one else tried it as well

Interesting, I tried to share a picture with my existing phone and nothing happened. I then tried to share a contact and I received the Beam sound on my MotoX, but no transfer. Now, nothing happens when I bring the 2 devices together. Did you do anything more than bring the devices together to test NFC?

I transferred from this device to my M8, maybe that's the difference, transferring from HTC to HTC.
To answer your question, when you hear the beam notification you tap the screen on the device your transferring from. Hope this helps.

Finally, let’s talk briefly about NFC. The One A9 supports NFC in the United States and in other regions where Android Pay is available, but it’s only for Android Pay. NFC doesn’t have access to read/write to the phone’s storage, which means you can’t use it to initiate a file transfer.

Can someone confirm if this statement is accurate?
I just tried beaming an image to my wife's Samsung a3 which worked ok. Tried the other way round and the A9 opened Google play? and transfer failed. So the standby may well be correct
NFC Yubikey worked with my M8 but not the A9. As crappy as it is, it does work with an OTG cable.

Try the latest version, it updated today and works on my A9.
Took a bit to figure out, but my Yubikey works with NFC on the A9. That said, you have to put it in the right orientation.
Place the back of the Yubikey directly to the left of the camera bump, flush against the case. Hold for three seconds. You might have to rotate the key slightly or move it a bit to ensure the tag is read. It's definitely not the best experience, but it's usable.
I'm trying to use a 3rd party app and it's not reading it. Using it outside the app should load a website... it doesn't. Sometimes if I put the gold button on top of the camera it will make the error beep. I also can't get a Sony NFC speaker to pair. It does seem to work in the yubico authenticator app but it seems HTC had to go and make the M8's abysmal NFC performance even worse.
Hi! I'm from Poland!
I have an account in bank which provides the NFC HCE payments ! Will it work with HTC A9 ?!
How can you put NFC ON?
If I put NFC Pay ON it will not pair with my Sony NFC earphones
I was able to use the YubiKey Neo once or twice and now no matter where I put it, or how I rotate it or how long I wait nothing happens. Tested with a Samsung SIII on CM 12.1 and it still works there. I wonder if one of the many updates broke it?
I tried it today and IT IS WORKING. I think since update to android 7 it work. Maybe no for NFC tags but for Android Beam YES.
