Wich android-tv box is good ??? - Android Stick & Console Computers General

Hello all,
I hope one of you can help me out here.
Because this is an android board.
My question is:
What is great smart-tv-box ? (set-top-box)?
I have searched for serval boxes, but its difficuilt to choose one.
Here are the choosen boxes:
Bluetimes MX5 (dual core 1GB ram)
MK888(K R42/CS918) [quad-core 2gb ram)
TRONSMART VEGA S89 (quad-core 2gb ram)
MINIX NEO X8-H (quad-core 2gb ram)
UGOOS UT2 (quad-core 2gb ram)
rPI (is a nice alternative, but realy slow own experience)
Recommandations:
1. Must be quik surfing on the smart-tv box
2. Must have support (OTA for fixing bugs etc)
I am gona use it for http://www.bosnatv.com , the standard tv-box they are selling i think ther must be a better one.
On the main-page you can see wich they are selling.

idk which model is the best but you dont need to get an expensive one, for 50$ and less you can have a very nice one, for the remote i've bought the air mouse Rii i25 a beautifull remote and good quality!! look much better than the ones usually bundled with hdmikeys like the TRONSMART VEGA S89
there 2 models one with Mic and jack for headphones and one without those 2 options, be sure to take the good model, not like me :s usefull for google now

Right now almost every box is ****ty in one area or another. It depends on what you want. If you just want to stream 1080p (more or less flawlessly) so far your best bet is the minix x8 (no H needed imho)
If you want to use several addons and streaming almost every box has problems with streaming with one or another add-on. Here your best bet is an HTPC for example the Zotac AQ01
Disclaimer: I own one awesome box! No trouble!

MINIX has the best customer support and most likely the largest community behind it. You can't go wrong with it. The X7 (RK3188) is a proven warhorse. The X8 (AML) is newer but there are already custom ROMs for it as well (e.g. Finless).

What are you using to play the youtube vids on your Xperia? If I let the phone buffer a bit, I can play SD videos with ease on R2, and on R1 I was able to play SD videos without a hiccup and w/o buffering.
Just watched the video, have you guys actually tried Kinoma? I haven't tried it on my X1 yet nor have I tried this pre-release build, but I did try the current build on my old 400mhz Touch Cruise, and it was fvery ast on that device too. Its really difficult to tell how much of the speed is due to Kinoma's smooth code, and how much is due to the speed of the G01...
Man that looks good. Smooth as a baby's bum!

The folks at Gizmodo Australia have got their hands on what they're saying is training material for the soon-to-be-released (we hope) Nexus tablet. They're saying the tablet will be a 7-incher built by ASUS and be debuted at Google I/O this week just as expected. The specs are also pretty close to everyone's guess:
7-inch 1280×800 IPS Display
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (not confirmed to be 5.0 just yet)
1.3GHz Quad-Core Tegra 3 CPU
NVIDIA GPU
1GB RAM
8GB / 16GB Internal Storage
1.2MP Front Camera
8 Hours Battery Life
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
The materials suggest the tablet will go up for sale in Australia sometime in July, so we expect it in the very near future in other places on the globe. Source : AndroidCentral
That leaves a few things left to wonder -- will it come in white? And what's the reason to buy it over any of the other Android tablets out there. We're half kidding about the first bit (although it would look very nice in white), but for the second there is one thing we know of to make it worthwhile -- updates direct from Google, with no carrier or OEM bull**** involved.
If you want an Android tablet, that's the one to get. If you need a reason to buy an Android tablet in the first place, we're hoping to see one this week at Google I/O.
Did you really trust Gizmodo?
I would like to see an SD slot and HDMI. I could see them leaving out HDMI to try to cut costs, but no SD slot is very Apple like and they did it with the Galaxy Nexus so I wouldn't be surprised.
I refuse to buy a device without expandable memory, my Touchpad was the exception since it was on the fire sale. There are plenty of free cloud services but data is expensive. microSD cards are cheaper and more reliable for storage than the cloud.
This could be real, given the way pictures were taken showing all the views. Unless they've covered it with 2 layers of plastic to hide the titanium coating :cyclops:

[ROM] TabTronics FT10 rk3188 - Custom ROM Firmware

If you have bought one of these tabs and are as unhappy about it as I was then read on.
THESE ARE IN NO WAY 'FLYTOUCH 10' MODELS!
I know what it says in the about page but anyone can spoof a model name in build.prop. These are in fact SuperPad 10s http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/10-RK3188-quad-core-android-4_1622115746.html Look familiar?
TabTronics lie about the spec of these devices (NO GPS and only 1.4ghz NOT 1.6)! I got mine for free because they wanted me to keep my mouth shut about their false advertising. Just shows how dodgy some people can be.
Anyway, I now have a FREE rk3188 tab to play with. First off spec. The parts inside this tab seem to be a mix of rk3066 and rk3188 gear (Notice the Flytouch 9 is the same form factor and an rk3066?).
Ive seen 2 versions of this firmware now. the one it came with (which was a mix of an M8Pro and a TV stick firmware) and the one on their site (the better one).
Ive built a basic version of the firmware on the site and it runs well!
spec:
2Gb Internal storage (More games/apps) at the cost of external storage (12Gb Free)
De-Bloated
De-Odexed
init.d support
CWM Touch Recovery v6.0.3
Cant remember if its fully rooted but I can show you how if it isnt
Antutu score is around 18k depending on what im doing. Boot time seems to get longer and longer, not sure if its the apps im running or an issue with the firmware (more testing needed). I usually get above the Samsung S3 so that keeps me happy
I fully intend to develop this rom and maybe at some point expand it to other platforms. If anyone is interested in helping me with this project then please pm me
Anyway, here is the link, use batchtool and do a restore (may need to format the internal card on first boot), takes about 10 mins to do the initial setup so dont worry, it hasnt stalled
DOWNLOAD
I hope this helps someone somewhere get the best out of this device. Feel free to comment, good or bad

Need an Android TV box with DVB T-2. Tired of Amazon Fire. Suggestions?

Hi all!
I've been using Amazon Fire TV for a while. It's a good machine, but I'm tired of them blocking Kodi/Firestarter, introducing ads, and refusing to fix bugs and provide support if you have Kodi installed. I also want something that's got DVB T-2 built in.
Requirements:
- Android
- Fast & good image quality/rendering
- NO FAN
- DVB T-2 built in
- Good quality & simple remote like the Fire TV one, or the possibility of adding it separately
I mostly use it for streaming, playing local videos, Netflix, Amazon music.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!
:fingers-crossed:
Hi there, I just got my hands on a KII Pro TV Box 2G 16G Android 5.1 Amlogic S905 Quad-core 4K*2K 2.4G&5G Wifi Bluetooth 4.0 Androidtvbox from alibaba. It's the best spec I could find on a DVB-T2 tuner box, also has DVB-S2 tuner.
Not too much info on it around the web and the sellers of these types of boxes here in Ireland seem to still be selling last years models.
It's running Android 5.1.1, 16gb of storage of which 10gb are available, 2gb of ram, 4 USB ports, a wireless keyboard (which has a very poor touch pad) and an IR remote control. It comes rooted and has kodi 16 preinstalled which I had to uninstall it completely to be able to get kodi 17 on there.
Another little annoyance with it was the DTV app that is used to control the DTV t2 and s2 when I was first setting it up I couldn't find anything for the with the DTV t2 automatic scan and this kept saying it was scanning for Europe and it doesn't look like there is any options but on the IR remote there is a menu button and clicking this brought up the settings to be able to pick what region and other options, once I changed to uk it picked up the channels. On other thing is that you need to come out of the DTV app to switch between t2 and s2.
So far so good for my needs but only have it since last Friday so not sure about shelf life. Below is a link to where I bought it plus some photos of what came in the package and the interface. Also it has PVR but I've yet to test this. Image quality is really good but I'm coming from a dreambox for my dvb s2 which didn't support hd channels.

Amazon Prime Video - Full HD (1080p)?

Hello!
I really wanna buy this phone but I couldn't find anywhere on the Internet if there is Full HD (1080p) in the Amazon Prime Video app? There are sooo many phones that only have 720p or even SD (WHY?)! So please could someone please check it out and tell me if it says "1080p" on the bottom left?
Thanks in advance!
If you have 1080p in apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc depends on the Google Widevine certifiction level each phone has. In order to stream in 1080p you need to have Level 1, which the Find X2 Pro DOES have. However, a few users reported that their phones dropped to Level 3 (which allows for SD streaming only) after updating them to a newer firmware. They then had to contact Oppo and they've been sent a special application that they could use to get their phone back to Level 1. From what I've seen this was only a handful of users though, so most likely if you decide to buy it there won't be any problem and even if there is, there's definitely is a way out.
@Craphead
Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of that Widevine- stuff (and the update- problem [L1/L3]) and also that unfortunately it means nothing, whether a phone has Level 1 or not, when it comes to (Full)HD. Yes, it is necessary to have Level 1 but if the streaming- guys say "nope" (for whatever reason, I will never understand), then Level 1 is no use. For example, I have the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, with Level 1, on Netflix for instance everything is perfect but on Amazon Prime Video: "glorious" SD in the year 2020, not even fakeHD (720p), as I call it.
That's why I want to gently ask any user of the Oppo Find X2 Pro, if he/she could check it out on their Amazon Prime Video- app. I want/need 1080p in 2020 (or I won't buy any smartphone anymore).
Thank you.

I'm a Prime Video user as well and 1080p is absolutely working for me.
@Craphead
Thank you very much!
Now I'm gonna buy the orange one on Amazon ?
(Thread can be closed).
It's take a 30 seconds but does go to HD1080.
