Lenovo A7600 / Tab A10 Custom Recovery for Backup and Restore - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hi,
I work in a school, and the school have just purchased 75 Lenovo A7600 tablets (Lenovo Tab A10).
Basically, I want to build one up and image the rest so I thought the best way to do this would be with a custome recovery - any thoughts? Any suggestion on how to do this with this model?
I was thinking the best way would be to flash Clockwork Recovery, then use that to backup on the first device and then restore it on the rest. Obviously as the tablet isn't very popular model, there's very little online about doing this on this model so I'm a little hesitant as only done it with Samsung phones in the past, following guides.
At the minute it's taking about 40mins per tablet to setup to how we want it so I think this would be a quicker way, if we had say 10 SD cards and just worked through them.
We can't get drivers for this device so would all need to be done on the device.
Lenovo have said we can do what we want with the software, their warranty still stands unless we start physically tinkering with the hardware.
Any help and/or advice is highly appreciated.

So I've searched the forums, and I'm sorry to bring up a old thread.
But, I'm looking for a way to root the A-7600 aswell, love the tablet (for the money I paied), And all I miss is root.
Thanks!

Better late than never !
Hi guys,
there is a thread on this site about your problem : its name is "[Guide] Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70 Root, Recovery, Xposed and Others" (I'm sorry, since I am new on this site, I can't post any link)
Cheers,

[Q] Cyberpad iView 7xx TPC Rooting?

Anyone doing any "development" rooting, firmware flashing, CWmods etc on iView tablet/phones?
I found someone who did actually...named: eyeoncomputers (hey there!) who made a very comprehensive and excellent Youtube tutorial seen here (I hope this is allowed), titled:
IVIEW 760TPC Advanced Improvements - Flashing Firmware, Custom Scripts & more...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fATLTulwdQg
So now, at least I know it can be done on an iView....
I'm tempted to just go for it....unfortunately, a 760TPC spec is pretty much too far off from a 792 TPC model (dual sim phone capabilities + 2G/3G + GPS/A-GPS connectivities which will most likely get messed up) if I flash it...and without any firmware back-up I'd most likely brick it before I could say I have root!)
Basically...I just want the 792 TPC rooted (for backing up purposes Titanium back up needs root right?)....so has anyone done it yet? or knows how to do it? or maybe an idea on how to go about it? Anyone? :-?

My friend have an Iview-795TPC tablet but seems like a different story for them.
One of the kids or someone changed the lock pattern and one day the owner tried to open and locked after several attempts of trials.
Now, it asks for an email account and password of the (last) user who created and accessed the tablet but even the owner's account (email & password) seems like can't open it.
I also tried the HARD RESETTING of this gadget because when they sent it to me to do the remedy or fix it back to factory settings, I cannot undo it. Even I followed all the instructions and step-by-step procedures on the YouTube video, still cannot restore it.
Is anybody successfully tried to restore back to factory setting of this IView Tablet Model 975TPC?
I appreciate it to someone help me on this situation. Link or simple tutorial-instructions can do.
Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for the response.
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you about this tablet because it's my friend's gadget but I found out that it's okay to use for starters and I'm an ACER Tab user (A500),
I only brought this attention because my pal couldn't fix it. :fingers-crossed:

Here is the firmware for all the iview tablets. just unzip it and install the software and it will install the firmware to the device

iview 797tpc
I just purchased the Iview 797 TPC with jellybean 4.1.2.
These just released mid 2013, and have been looking all over for firmware, etc.
Not much out there for these models.
I had it connected to PC and the phone icon on desktop through media espresso said HTC generic.
So possibly these are clones of HTC.
These tabs are excellent except for the sound, they are to quiet for playback and handset volume.
So my question is can developers put aside the higher end models and get some ROMs for a Iview.
I would at least like to get jellybean 4.3 or even a piece of that KitKat .......
Flash / install the firmware

Now that I have downloaded the firmware, how do I put on the device? I don't have Windows (or rather would like not to use it).
I did successfully installed Android 4.4 on a Transformer Prime not so long ago, so I am comfortable with adb and fastboot tools.
Does anyone know?

[Completed] How do I unbrick my phone?

First of all, I'd like to say that I know very little about how Android, electronics or mobile phones work in general, so everything I've done has been from internet tutorials. Please don't use any jargon as I probably won't know what you mean. ELI5.
A few days ago, I tried to root my phone and it didn't work. As a result the phone went into a boot loop and I didn't know how to fix it. The long and short of it was that I ended up flashing the stock firmware onto my phone and basically doing a complete factory reset. After some time trying this I managed to get the phone to start up and I was able to access the interface and all that. Unfortunately, my WiFi wasn't working (the button would simply turn off whenever I turned it on) so I had no way to download the most recent updates or apps or anything like that. After following several tutorials on how to fix this, such as flashing the modems and bootloader, I still wasn't having any luck. So I tried something that proved to cause even more problems - I tried to install a new kernel. Now my phone won't even boot past the logo. I probably didn't install the right one, but what can I say, it's not very clear which one I need.
Now I'd like to point out that as a layman who just wants his phone to work again, half of the time I don't understand what I'm doing or whether or not I'm doing it right. In other words, I realise that I've probably messed up my phone, but what can I do? I can't take it to a technician because I don't have the money for that, I can't buy a new phone for the same reason and I can't phone up and ask for a replacement because the warranty expired ages ago and I don't have the original documents here.
I've installed the Team Win Recovery Project on my phone and I have Odin installed on my PC as well.
TLDR; yes, I know I'm an idiot and I don't appreciate you telling me. I'd like to reset my phone to how it was before - the normal firmware, the normal kernel and all that, but I'd still like to have root access and keep the TWRP recovery mode too.
Model: Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
Model name: GALAXY S4 LTE
Country: UK
Version: Android 5.0.1
You'll probably need more information, so if you do just let me know and, if possible, where I can find it.
I have some good news. I managed to flash the firmware again and now I can access the phone again. However, the WiFi problem persists. I've tried looking on the internet for a solution, but I can't find one. I've tried flashing the modem and all that stuff, but it still doesn't work.
Oh, and by the way, I no longer have TWRP and I don't think I have root access anymore either (I had to do a data partition wipe as well).
I'd really appreciate a reply from someone. I've tried everything, but to no avail.

Hi engloa,
It's OK, I've fixed the problem now; I installed a different ROM and now it works fine. Thanks anyway though.

How does a non-techy get Cyanogenmod installed on a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3?

Apologies if this is not really the place for this question but I don't know where else to go for an answer. I have just purchased a Z1 after years of putting up with Samsung bloatware etc and it has changed my life! I would like to transform my wife's phone experience as well. She can only really use a small phone and has been happy with her Ace 3 until recently, when it started to get slow and erratic. In desperation she has bought an iPhone 5 but this has not been a happy experience at all! I cannot find any new small Android phones that come with Cyanogen pre-installed so I am wondering if we can get it installed on her old Ace 3. From the discussions in this forum I guess this can be done but, not having any technical training in this subject, I really dont understand much of what is being said. I have no idea how to go about this.
So is there either a very simple manual on what to do or else a UK-based expert who can do this for me (for a fee, obviously)?
you can look from the android development section. but, it may vary to your phone model. there is a instructions to on how to install a cyanogenmod os on your ace 3. at least you are familliar with custom recoveries like cwm or twrp, you should install it first on your phone via odin in your pc.
You guys know so much
Hi, PAPlinskie, and thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate it. I have looked at the page you refer to and I just don't understand it! (I don't know what cwm or twrp or Odin are) I guess you guys don't realise just how much you know. I suspect that the answer to my question is probably that there isn't an absolute layman's guide so I will probably have to look for someone to do it for me. Thanks for trying anyway.

At first I didn't want to flash Custom ROM's on my phone for fear of breaking it... But All I had to do was just follow instructions to the "T" and I had no hiccups...
Okay, so lemme clear some things up for you.
Odin is an Application which you run on a Windows machine, (Your PC). It serves as a bridge to allow you to put custom software such as custom recoveries and allows you to fix a broken device (If the software is the problem)
TWRP & CWM are both custom recoveries. You can think of the stock recovery mode in Android like Safe Mode in Windows, It allows you to Wipe your entire phone or perform other recovery options if you are unable to access the phone when you turn it on. A custom recovery allows all these functions, but on top of that, allows you to flash (install) files to your phone, Like your CyanogenMod.
In a nutshell, if you want CyanogenMod on your Ace 3, you will have to:
1. Install drivers on your PC so that it recognises your phone
2. Using ODIN, flash a custom Recovery
3. Download a CyanogenMod port found here on the forums.
4. Install (Flash) it in your Custom recovery.
The guides here on XDA are really good, all you have to do is do your homework, read, understand and you will have no problems.
Good Luck with your quest on Custom ROMS:good:

I have taken the coward's way out. I went into my local neighbourhood PC techie shop and asked if they knew of a reliable local phone engineer who could install Cyanogen for me. The boss' assistant said he does that sort of thing for a hobby and was happy to do it for me in return for a donation to his drone fund! He seems to made a cracking job of it and my wife is overjoyed to have her Ace back in a turbo-charged state.
Many thanks for your help and I am only sorry I was not brave enough to act on it.

[Completed] How to copying stock android tablet OS and install it on identical hardbricked tablet

Hi, can somebody direct me in the right direction. I posted a thread on December 13th 2016, about "Help unbricking Nextbook 7 NX700QC16G tablet." There was good info to follow, but unfortunately, none worked for me.
This is the link to that thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gen...g-nextbook-7-nx700qc16g-t3518217/post70073647
**UPDATE**
The tablet is still bricked after numerous attempts to reinstall OS. I came across a solution that might work but, I just need info on how to go about doing this the right way. My problem was trying to find the right files in order to complete the flash. I couldn't find any files online that were compatible with this device. I did find MT8127 files for other devices but they didn't work. So, I thought, maybe I should buy an identical tablet and copy the firmware/rom/OS from it and install it on the bricked tablet. I bought the tablet on ebay for very cheap and it was in excellent condition, so now I have 2 Nextbook 7 NX700QC16G tablets. Once I fix my mom's, then I will have one too, since I didn't own a tablet before.
How do I go about copying the OS of this working tablet and installing it on the bricked tablet?
I'm hoping and assuming that the working tablet won't have to be rooted. If so, will kingroot or any softroot programs be sufficient? (I'm trying to avoid having 2 bricked devices.)
Please help me, Thanks in advance.
Hi !
I would suggest you to search on google , I personally couldn`t find anything here on xda about your issue , some blogs may have more answers
Good luck !

Huawei Mediapad T3 8.0 KOB W09 rooting

Hello all. I hope you can help a noob with a few questions I have about rooting my device. I’m a long time observer of the XDA forums but this is the first time I’ve posted anything.
I bought a Huawei Mediapad T3 8.0 KOB W09 (wifi only) just before Christmas to use at home. I was extremely disappointed in the sound coming from the tablet to my earphones so I decided to look into rooting it so I could get access to the various sound modifications such as Viper and Dolby. I’ve never attempted this before and I now realise it’s not the easiest device to start with but I’m going to stick with it until I root it or it explodes. Whatever comes first.
Since just before Christmas I’ve been reading lots of material and watching a lot of videos about rooting and android developing in an effort to get my head around the jargon used etc and so I didn’t brick my tablet.
After doing a lot of this and collecting what I thought I would need to root it i.e. TWRP, firmware, ABD, Android SDK etc etc last week I tried to do it and failed. I’ve unlocked the bootloader and the tablet works but I can only boot into erecovery not recovery but I hope to fix this using the stock firmware which I think I have so I can start again. If I’m unable to I’m sure I’ll be back to ask some more questions but for now I’d just like somethings clearing up if someone could kindly assist me? The questions are:
1. My model is KOB-W09, there is no TWRP for my device but there is for KOB-L09 which is the same tablet but is able to make calls unlike mine which is Wifi only. Will this TWRP work on my device? If not and as they are essentially the same tablet can I port the TWRP using Android Image Kitchen?
2. The firmware on my tablet is KOB-WO9C100B252CUSTC100D001, I cannot find the exact same firmware anywhere but I have downloaded a full OTA MF of KOB-W09C100B250CUSTC100D001. Will I be able to restore my tablet using this or do I need the exact same firmware? To do this do I need the Full OTA MF or the OTA MF?
Apologies for War & Peace. I look forward to your responses.

I got the stock rom images from this site and then used a perl script to unpack the UPDATE.APP to get the stock recovery and stuff if you wanted to revert back.
https://romfirmware.com/2017/10/01/huawei-mediapad-t3-kob-w09/
Noticed that you cannot fastboot boot on this device only fastboot flash
I got twrp image from here http://www.mediafire.com/file/d9q6xt87df4j49k/TWRP_3.1.1_T3_10_Wi-Fi_by_nemo-nemo.img
Note language is default Russian but can be changed in the twrp settings, doesn’t appear to stick so that’s kind of annoying.
Recommend doing a backup to SDCard before attempting to root so if it gets messed up you can boot recovery and restore.
I tried SuperSu but it failed, Standard Magisk worked for me for rooting
Ways to get into Fastboot
1.) power off, hold volume down, plug into pc
2.) After booted You can enable usb debugging, adb reboot bootloader.
3.) After twrp is installed you can get to it via vol-up + power then adb reboot bootloader if you need to recover.
Unlock Bootloader
Used DC-Unlocker cost ~4$ for the read bootloader code credits
Is there a noob friendly tutorial for this anywhere. Please I almost installed kingdouche and now I’m lost!
i would also love to know if we can get this working... the link you posted seems to be for the t10
