Carrier/Provider issues? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
When flashed from Color to CM 11S (OR any Custom ROMs), wont see the carrier/provider name on the top.
Plus mostly is disconnected from both provider and from 3G/4G LTE.
Never happened with Color......any recommendations?
If the Chinese version has different bands, how can they be changed?
Thanks.

[Q] LTE radio works but no internet connection - CM 10.1/10.2/11 on XT925

I've seen some similar questions here but none of them could fit my issue. I can't connect on LTE network on any version of CM/PA/etc. I still can send texts and do calls on LTE baseband, but internet only works when I toggle my phone to GSM/CDMA instead of LTE. It worked on the stock ROM and I'm in a place with a good LTE signal, I think there's something with the baseband frequency, probably Brazil's frequency is not available on those ROMs. Can someone help me?
Thanks.
UPDATE: Finally I could fix it. The APN was not properly configured.

I'm having exactly the same issue and also tought it might be related to the baseband frequency (2.6GHz).
Which carrier are you on and which APN configuration change have you made?
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: TIM Brazil's users: Changed APN to timbrasil.br, Authentication Type to None and Bearer to LTE and worked like a charm.

Potential Signal strength fix (USA users)

Calling all US bacon users with signal strength issues, spotty connectivity, and spontaneous radio switching.
The OnePlus One defaults to TD-scdma which is a Chinese radio protocol and is not optimal for use in the united states.
US users should use the following:
"LTE/GSM auto (PRL)"
This will ensure your phone seeks out LTE for Data and properly switches you to GSM and HSPA+ for voice. If you are in a very poor LTE area this PRL preferred roaming list protocol will default more willingly to H+ HSPA+ data which is the next best thing.
To enable this radio protocol do this:
-Dial *#*#4636#*#*
-Choose phone information
-set preferred network type
-LTE/GSM auto (PRL)
Profit!
***If you reboot your phone you will have to reset these settings as they don't persist after reboot.***
Are you using the Chinese OPO? Because I'm on the international version and do not have the option TD-SCDMA.
I don't have any signal problems, but for sure it should be on LTE/GSM auto (PRL).... TMo and AT&T don't use CDMA so theres no point in having that on.

TD
International OPO with the latest CM11S radio does not have this option.

Maybe its just me. T-Mobile doesn't use CDMA. LTE/GSM is sufficient enough.
I'm able to roam on CDMA using my T-Mobile opo
If you have the international version then what do I have? I assumed that since I had all this Chinese preferred network protocol that I had the international version

The Chinese OPO is specific to Chinese markets that utilize the TD-SCDMA. The international is everywhere else other than China.
Its pretty easy to see if its a Chinese OPO, on the back of the OPO, it should have the Cyanogen logo. Although you do get LTE on TMo so you probably have the International. Odd, must be because I'm on a custom ROM thats not giving me the option of TD but thats fine because TD isn't utilized outside of China.
I've got the cyanogen logo
Mine is the international, as the TD, CDMA and the LTE. There is a bunch in that list.
I guess it was my custom ROM that removes it from the list
Odd... they should remove it from the list from the international versions but I guess they left it there for those in China who decides to flash CM 11S over ColorOS.

Can't turn on radio.

Hello,
I have no signal, I can't turn on radio in the hidden settings (*#*#4636#*#*) and I can't change preffered network to 2g nor 3g.
I have flashed different radios, flashed several factory images (4.4,5.1.1,5.0) but I have the same problem. One thing though, when I'm on 4.4 it says the radio is on in the hidden settings (still no signal) but I can
t' turn it off. Is this a software or hardware problem? What can I do/what are replacement parts I could buy?
Thanks.
Please anyone? This is very urgent.
When I'm on 5.0 my phone immediatly recognizes my sim card and in the initial setup it can verify my network (don't have a signal afterwards). On 5.1.1 I have to take my sim out and put it back in before it recognizes it and it can't verify in the initial setup (also no signal afterwards).
Same problem here. Tried all radios, all stock versions since 4.4 up to 5.1.1.
I'm beginning to suspect physical damage.
What carrier?

I'm in Brazil. Reading other threads, I noticed something: my phone is a D820, versus the international D821. I read that the modems are binary-equal, what determines the supported LTE bands is a configuration in the Qualcomm chipset. In my case, only D821 will support band 7 (which is the local LTE frequency). See: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Differences-between-the-two-Nexus-5-models-D820-and-D821_id48985
You wouldn't by any chance be in an area with the international LTE bands, would you?

[HELP] Fix LTE on redmi note 3 pro (snapdragon)

The phone comes in 2 versions, and one of them supports band 4 LTE.
And the one with band 4 support comes with customized mui version from the seller, as soon as I changed the ROM I lost LTE, it just shows unknown Network, no signal if I force LTE.
I tried using the modem from the customized ROM but it didn't fix LTE. I also tried keeping all the firmware files and flashing a different ROM but still no LTE.
And for some reason I can get LTE on sim2 on one of the aosp Roms.
It looks like it depends on the ROM itself, on how it handles the LTE.
So my question is what files and folders handle LTE or signal in general in a ROM so that I can copy or modify the files. The seller was nice enough to send me their customized firmware.
I tried all the settings in the phone and #*#*4636#*#*, nothing makes it work.
Edit:
Never mind, i tried to flash the custom firmware but still no LTE.
Get the APN of your network and enter it in under settings mobile networks Access Point Names
I have the same problem, I flash the global stable version and I lose the 4G connection, if you fix the problem share the details. I find methods but I can't fix the issue.

Verizon M8 only connecting to 2G/GSM networks. No 3G/4G.

Hi All,
The issue with my Verizon M8 [the rare LRA (LTE for Rural America) subvariant] is that no matter what firmware version/RUU I use, I only get GSM connectivity on it. No WCDMA or LTE. I have checked the WCDMA bands in my country and that is not an issue. When I select WCDMA only option, I cannot get any signal. I have flashed the all the LRA (*.**.512.*) RUUs as well as all the Verizon (*.**.605.*) RUUs but no luck at all. If this issue might be related to PRL settings then please let me know if any of you have any idea. I have also checked the relevant WCDMA/LTE bands via CDMA tool and they are also enabled.
My M8 is currently S-off and has Super CID. I am using it outside the US on GSM network.
This has got me very frustrating and I need to find out if this is a software issue or a hardware issue. One more thing is that another guy here has exactly the same variant as mine. He bricked his radio by flashing the GSM firmware. I provided him my phone's relevant partition dumps and after flashing those onto his phone, his phone's radio became operational but now he has the same issue as mine. So I think that this issue might not be hardware related.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!!

do you know the actual bands/frequency the gsm network uses where you are? the prl is going to be pulled from your sim card. have you also tried a diff sim card?

Hello. Yes, I know the bands used by 2G, 3G and 4G in my country. And yes I have switched sim cards even from different networks. The PRL version shows as 00000 when i look at it from the settings. I have even tried to update the PRL from a prl file provided by a xda user in some other thread but still it shows as 00000. I have seen some threads and ppl had this problem with One S. Though some of them were able to correct it by flashing some stock and custom radios.

odd. i wonder if that lra model is sim locked like the sprint variant. is it also acknowledging you have a sim card inserted when you check in about phone? as in, does it display the sim #

Well, I thought too that it might be sim locked but then why it is working with 2G networks. There should be no signal at all then. Also these LRA variants are being sold by many online retailers including Amazon as sim unlocked phones. And yes it acknowledges when I insert or change a sim. Says "Preparing sim card" and then I get a signal (2G only). When I choose 3G only in network settings, the signal is gone immediately and I have to switch back to auto or 2G only to get the signal back.

So then list the specific band numbers for 2G, 3G, and LTE for your carrier. That is really what the previous response was asking.

This is strange, as the 3G band 2100 Mhz is really common (many countries use it for 3G, and most any recent US phone intended for foreign travel will support it), and should be supported by the device out-of-the-box. This tells me the problem is likely not RUU/firmware related.
You sure the APN is properly typed? And does your carrier use any different APN for 3G, LTE, etc.?

No it uses the same APN for all types and its configured correctly. I also thought the issue might rather be related to some NV values or PRL. If I set it to 3G only, it "Sees" the carrier as I can see a signal bar in network signal guru app, but the mobile is not able to connect to it.
so i am thinking that since this is a lra variant, a lot of bands may be disabled. have you seen anywhere else that someone got a lra variant to work outside the us? i know you said people were selling it as being unlocked, but maybe its not

Well the LRA variant is practically the Verizon one with everything same as the Verizon variant. There a lot of links on both Amazon and eBay in which its mentioned that its LRA variant and is factory unlocked and can be used anywhere in the world. And yes I came across various threads on XDA in which people had this same variant, working fine (3G atleast) but they wanted to upgrade to Android 6 MM as there is no official update available for this variant after Android 5 Lollipop. As for the relevant bands (2100MHz for 3G used in my country), they were already unlocked (checked via CDMA Tool and QXDM).

hmm this is quite the problem. if you can confirm you are using the same rom as the others, i would then think the issue is the radio being defective

I am using the stock LRA RUU (android 5.0.2). I have also tried the VZW RUUs from 4.4 to 6.0 but the same issue exists on them all. Even I have used GPE and Sense based custom roms but the same issue. I think that the issue might be related to some NV values or this phone might be network locked. Is there a way to check if the phone is network/sim locked? As I am getting the (2G) signals for all the networks in my country.

it being sim/network locked makes sense, because the phone was made for people who live in the middle of nowhere. there would also be a high probability that none of those people will ever travel outside the country. i do not know anything about the nv values and tweaking them, but i have looked at that thread a few times. lastly, if you have only picked up 2g regardless of sim or apn used, it could be defective radios
