[Completed] I can install a firmware of a Motorola HD; on motorola atrix 4G.??? - XDA Assist

I have a motorola atrix 4G (Olympus) and no official update for this terminal beyond android 2.3.6. I then thought maybe the firmware of a Motorola HD can be flashed in this terminal. But not if it worked or not please help. I found many roms as CM or PAC-ROM but no stable. and more stable version Cyanogenmod is what brings android 2.3.7 ... so I thought maybe if it works put a motorola HD firmware upgrade would have to CM11 ... .and sorry for my bad English.

Hi!
I will start with a huge NO!
Its never a good idea to flash another phone models firmware, it can break your device permanently.
That said, I'm no expert with either of those devices.....so I suggest you ask in your devices section, here....
>*Motorola Atrix 4G*>*Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Don't try anything like you've suggested without getting info from the guys that know your device best.
Good luck!!

[Completed] TPT NVflash need direction

Good morning All!
This is my first post here, hopefully I post in the right place. I have an old TPT, perfect device for my kids, all it need to do is run Zoodles. Was running fine with CM9, then one day, a couple of months back, it got stock on the Lenovo boot splash. Was getting ready to move so it made it in a box.
Trying to fix it now. Nut looks like I am in need of some advice and direction.
This is what I have done so far.
Boot into recovery kernel and tried to restore from my backup I had done before putting CM9 on it. Tried factory reset, None of which works.
The closest I got is with the restore of my backup, then when It rebooted, Ut got past the first Lenovo boot splash, we see Nvidia splash, then Animated Lenovo splash start, then device turns off and then back on.
Within the recovery kernel when I look at the logs, there is complaints about /data being in read-only mode during restore. I cannot unmount or format /data.
I think at this stage my best chance is to restore to stock with NVFlash. I am a little uncomfortable doing this without some advice first.
I am trying to find the model details of the device, but needless to say that being my kids tablet, all stickers are gone. I do have the device open but I am unable to track a; model number inside.
Could anyone assist? I am a professional IT, but My android knowledge is limited.
Thank you.
Hi!
Unfortunately without knowing the exact model, you have no idea what is safe to flash.
Because you can't get into into the system...no help there. Most devices have model numbers inside by the battery.
I'd Google any numbers you do find inside, until one leads you to your device. But you need to be 1000% certain before flashing firmware....if you flash the wrong firmware, chances are the device will hard brick and that will be the end of it.
Not sure what we can do to help really. You can ask in the general Q&A section, but be careful what advice you take. No one can guess what device you have, and if anyone suggests firmware based on a guess....don't flash it. Maybe someone can help you determine without a doubt what model it is tho...

Yes, its a Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 1 (TPT)
If its Lenovo think pad, then you need to ask here....and specifically state the model number you found. You probably need to return it to stock, so you need to find out how to do that, and where to find the firmware for your exact model. Don't use anything not specifically for your model. The guys in the Lenovo section know those devices best, hopefully they can help.

My device seemed to be rooted already since when i go on Bootloader it has ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL on the top of the screen. Here is a thread about the same topic: HTC Desire HD > Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > How to install custom ROM on my HTC desire HD.
Might be useful to read through it.
If you have further questions, please ask in the Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Have read the link given above
Hi,
I read that forum thread already before posting this thread. I really have no idea if i need to do that since my phone is already S-off. So i just want to know how to flash a custom ROM and the steps to do it. Also if you can recommend a Custom ROM that is really stable and has no bugs and does not eat much RAM. Also can have Google Apps on Playstore downloadable and used. Pls advice me on the steps. I do not want ending up bricking or on a bootloop with my phone. I'm new in this Custom ROM thing so i really have no idea.
Thanks.

You are lucky the "best ROM" threads are allowed now.
Here is one for your device: HTC Desire HD > Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting > The best rom for htc desire HD.
And here you can find some available ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-desire-hd#romList ... at least the ones which have a DevDB ROM thread.
But better to ask in your device help and troubleshooting forum, which I have linked in my previous post.
EDIT:
Here is a nice guide for your device: HTC Desire HD > Desire HD General > [How to] Root and flash Custom Roms.
And you can ask in this thread if you have any questions or issues.
Thread closed and thank you!

[Completed] [Q] Lanix Ilum s620 CWM and KitKat Rom inexistance

I've been looking for some way to install a recovery in my device, but I haven't found yet any way to do it because it seems that there's no CWM nor KitKat Rom for it. The brand is Lanix, from a mexican developer, so it's not so well know, although the device is pretty decent.
Does anyone know where I can find them both or what to do about it other than resing to the idea of doing it?

Sorry, but I can't find anything related to your exact device.
If you want to know how to build CWM recovery for your device, you may check this guide: [GUIDE] Compile CWM Recovery.
And iff you want to port a ROM to your device, here is a nice guide too: [GUIDE]How To Port Different ROMS to Your Device (Simplest and Fastest).
Or here: [GUIDE] How to port ROMS.
And here: [GUIDE]How to port roms to your Device.
If you have further questions, please ask in the corresponding Q&A thread, or in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Thread closed and thank you.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Short answer, no.
Long answer, there has to be a lot of similarities between two devices in order for them to be capable of sharing the same firmware (or ROM). Bare minimum, they must have the same chipset and partition layout, or you will end up hard-bricked (something noone ever wants). The rest of the hardware has to be the same (or similar) too, or you will get a bootloop after installing, or less often, a feature that won't work.
The only time I have seen a ROM closely matching two devices is when two models are made by the same manufacturer, and even then, there are subtle glitches in the function of that ROM for the other device (such as auto-rotate not working).
At any rate, you can create an account, and post a thread in > Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting asking if there are any ROMs, or plans for ROMs for this device.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

[Completed] Steps for installing custom rom on HTC Desire 700 dual Sim

Hello people,
So I've been using this phone for quite some time(HTC desire 700 dual Sim) it's running on stock Android which is 4.1.2(it sucks, I know) I am not super good at phone and stuff but I am quite interested and I have already rooted this phone. The problem is that I cant find a custom recovery and custom rom (I would like any new ones, like android 6.0,which obviously will never make it officially into) so yes, I prefer 6.0 or similar ones... I would like to request you guys to help me in this. Would like detailed step to step instructions. I know my phone is stupid and I should replace it but atm I am not willing to buy anything since I have to pay rent. Thank you all. Sorry for my bad english.
Hello,
Welcome to XDA.
I'm not finding a forum or thread that will help you, try posting your question in the forum linked below.
