Of course we want 4g connectivity so you don't need a phone to make calls from it.

I would like to have the Gear mirror the volume settings on the phone. If the phone is on mute, the gear should be set to vibrate but would also like the ability to set gear to vibrate even if the phone has sound on.

i like the phone to gear volume sync idea. seems like they could make that happen now with firmware update.
think more along the lines of hardware... like the being able to use the watch as a phone only (even temporarily would be cool, like having a cloned sim card in the watch)
adding an LED for a flashlight, regardless of camera.
louder speaker
wireless inductive charging
slightly larger screen (less bezel)
i kind of want a headphone jack, but at the same time dont... no need for extra spaces for water intrusion
a min of an 8mp camera if theyre going to install one. 2mp is nearly useless.

Popping sound after display power-on

Allright. For the last few days, i've noticed that my Sensation is producing this snap/popping sound after the display turns on. Only when the device hasn't been used for some time. I go to turn the display back on from sleep mode, and after several seconds, it will make this pop sound...
I'm assuming something to do with the capacative touchscreen...?
This is very wierd, and annoying. I'd really like for it to stop doing this.
If you have the technical know-how, open up that phone and take a good look. Clean the contacts, make sure ribbons are secure. That's never a good sign.
UPDATE: Allright, i've noticed that the sound is actually heard when the camera is activated. It sounds like the camera shutter sound. I don't think it's got anything to do with the actual screen itself, anymore. The distinct shutter "pop" is heard.
What could be the reason?
Doesn't the shutter go through a reset cycle or something? I have this happen whenever I close the camera - doesn't seem to be a big deal since it's been going on for the seven months I've owned the phone.

Go to settings/sound and uncheck screen lock sound. Might be what you are referring to.
Nope. That has been disabled the entire time.
I think it might be that STUPID weather sound. You know, the weather app that's in the main menu?
UGH.
i think it makes the sound when i cut it short. Switch to another menu. Might be the speaker popping when turning on to make the sound.
Any way i can disable this garbage. I don't want to hear it every time i turn on my phone.
Stupid weather app...
Y'know, the one that has an animation built into the calender/time?

Click the weather on the widget and then menu and disable animation and sound for it... Might work

[APP] Earpiece: boost audio, play through earpiece

I wanted an app to play audio through a phone earpiece, so that if I didn't take my headphones somewhere, I could still listen to an audio book as if I was on the phone. So I made a very simple app that toggles whether sound comes from the earpiece or the speaker: Earpiece.
Currently alpha, or maybe early beta, quality. Works on my Epic 4G Touch. Don't know how many other phones it'll work for. (Interestingly, I also noticed that if I have earphones plugged in and I select earpiece mode, then the volume goes up a little. I am curious if this happens for other users)
I also wanted an app that would let me boost the audio volume, so I added that functionality to Earpiece while I was at it (Android 2.3+ only, should work even on devices like tablets that don't have an earpiece). I know there are such apps (Volume+ seems to be the most popular one), but why have a separate app for this?
You can set Earpiece to show up when you long-press the search key. (I don't use this feature myself. Instead, I have another simple app that pops up a menu of my favorite apps when I long-press the search key, and I use that to launch Earpiece.)
Free and open source (BSD license).

With what settings in Earpiece?
I would expect the Boost setting to interfere with DSP Manager, since both apps would be trying to do the same thing.

Thanks! Tell me more. How did you test it?
Here's how I test. I start an audio book playing in Mortplayer, and then go to Earpiece, and toggle the Earpiece checkmark.
Clever idea, thanks!
Works perfectly on my HTC EVO 3D ICS 4.0.3 leak, boost as well - even the feeble speaker becomes louder
Cheers
Christoph
Works perfectly on ZTE Blade.

It looks like the person on the other end of the line is just talking your ear off and not letting you get a word in.
Question: Should I activate the proximity sensor in Earpiece mode, and turn the device screen off and on based on closeness to the face?

I just posted 0.02 with proximity sensor support.
Screen off while close to face is default for phone calls on my htc, saves lots! of battery during long talks.
So, yes, please
Workaround so far: With screen off manually (power button), sound plays nicely in the background.
Thanks and Cheers!
EDIT: Too fast for me Thanks again!

Did this happen with the previous version?
Can you send me a log after the crash? Install Log Collector, then do the crash again, and then go to Log Collector to email the log to arpruss at gmail dot com.
My ICS has a not stable beats installed, deactivated it, now works flawless
Noticed that the "Volume up/down" beeps don't get routed through earpeace, which is fine with me. Probably, because it's not a media volume sound?
Cheers!
Work on zte blade, but is it possible to use earpiece + speaker in same time?

You mean, for greater volume?
I doubt it, but I can experiment and see. Might actually be hard to tell if it's working, because the earpiece speaker will be drowned out by the main speaker.
I just posted 0.03.
It switches to the earpiece using a slightly different method. I'd appreciate reports whether it works for people.
By the way, no luck routing audio to BOTH the speaker and the earpiece at the same time.
I posted a release in the Market.
The release version carries one text ad on the screen, for my paid products. If the ad annoys you, just buy any of my paid products and the ad will disappear. Or just use a pre-release version.
Cool thing I found. If you turn on Earpiece while in Camera, the camera sound gets routed to the earpiece, and hence is very quiet, at least in my Epic 4G Touch.
(I know there are root-based solutions to the camera sound issue, but I haven't rooted my phone yet--I haven't found a way to do it that's both safe and doesn't involve copyright problems, like downloading unauthorized copies of parts of ROMs.)
I posted 1.01 in the Market and on the google code page. If you press MENU, you can go to Settings and select whether you want the status bar notification always, only when the background service is running, or never. The "never" is attractive if you don't like clutter, but unfortunately it allows the OS to kill Earpiece's proximity sensor and boost features (they need the background service) when the OS runs out of memory. Still, it's up to the user.
I am kind of excited by my discovery that earpiece mode makes the camera sound come out of the earpiece and hence be very quiet. I've experimented some more, and when I combine this with a negative volume boost, I can make the camera sound almost inaudible--probably inaudible to anybody more than two feet away except in an almost perfectly silent environment. Of course, for rooted devices there are ways of turning it off entirely, but I don't have root, and I want to be able to take pictures without disturbing people.

AirPods - Ear detection possible?

I just got AirPods for my OnePlus One and while everything has been great, the only thing missing is pause/resume when taking them out of your ears. I've read conflicting reports about that feature working on Android, thus was wondering if any other 1+1 user has them?
Here is my experience so far:
- The microphone works in some apps, but not all, and not always.
- Pairing is like any other bluetooth earphone, BUT, you can also pair them to your Apple stuff and switching between Android/Apple is super easy (no need to re-pair)
- They turn on / connect as soon as you remove one bud from the case, which is super nice. This does not start playback so you don't have to hurry and put them in your ears.
- Listening to only one works (with the other in the case). Sometimes there will be a bug where the remaining bud will not register 2x taps to pause, but that does not happen often.
- 2x tap = pause/resume, even if you set it to Siri on Apple.
- 2x tap works 95% of the time (5% it doesn't register). That is true on Apple stuff as well though.
- Removing buds / putting them back does NOT pause/resume, at least not on my Android 6 OnePlus One.
- You can pair them to an Apple device once, then you can always connect them to that apple device from the airplay button or the control center thing.
- If you do that, it will auto-disconnect from the paired Android device.
- When you want it back on Android, you DON'T have to pair again, simply go into bluetooth settings and click on AirPods, they will connect back to your Android.
- This is MAJOR: even when you have the AirPods working on Android, the battery % shows up on your iOS device!! I still don't get how that works, but it does, and it is bloody fantastic.
It sounds like it's just software related as I've seen form posts regarding ear detection automatically switching from Spotify to apple music when the bud is reinserted. Maybe it's just a simple mod on the waiting (also the x2 tap doesn't work when the bud is out of ear which is evidence that the sensor is working)

Disable earpiece / always answer calls with speaker

I have an original Pixel XL on Android 10. The earpiece speaker is broken. (I damaged it putting in a new screen, I broke the screen putting in a new battery, don't want to take it apart again)
I am looking for some way to always have the Speaker on by default. I have tried various auto speaker apps and none work. I have disabled sensors, trying to stop proximity sensor. Nothing works.
What is really frustrating is when I try and google a solution all I get is 'My phone always uses speaker how to turn off' I have tried a few auto record apps too as some people have had them use the speaker, no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.

Question Problems with Flip 3 and Buds live

Hi all, been rocking my flip 3 and loving it BUT, my Buds Live while I can hear music and calls and control volume up and down, they dont double tap to go to next track, dont triple tap to go back a track and does not pause on single tap. I removed them from the system, re added them, reset them but no go. Works perfectly on my Note 20 and tab s7+.
My OG samsung buds work just fine.
Interesting.
My Buds+ have similar issues on my 10+. Got tired of tapping my head and just use direct input now. I have Poweramp so thought it may be interacting.
Now I wonder after hearing of your issues. I just pushed it aside, will play with it again.
In your case make sure no power management is active as it will cause all manner of erratic behavior. Try clearing the system cache too.
Look over all settings.
A factory reset will only waste your time...
It could be a compatibility issue that needs a firmware / kernel update to resolve. The Note 20 Ultra and Tab S7+ were bluetooth 5.0 (same as the Galaxy Buds Live) and this one is bluetooth 5.1 (even though 5.2 is the newest). The original Galaxy Buds are 5.0 LE, which may have better backward compatibility with the current drivers.
works fine for me with same setup, using YouTube Music.
Now it's happening with my OG buds. Only workaround that seems to help is to briefly turn bluetooth off then on. I use PowerAmp for music playback as everything else just sucks in comparison. You would think Samsung buds would work perfectly with a Samsung device, but nope. This is why I will always be an advocate for a headphone jack and decent wired headphones!

Have you contacted Samsung about it? It's starting to sound like a failing hardware

Do a network reset.
Clear system cache.
Disable ALL power management as this is the most likely cause!
Developer options > standby apps, all buckets should show as active otherwise power management is active. Go to Device Care> battery, only fast charging should be toggled on.
If those fail...
It's better to leave A2DP hardware offload off but in your case try turning it on.
Pic below is it disabled...
Don't waste your time wiping the imaginary cache.
A better alternative (based on THIS phone) would be to boot into recovery and select the repair apps option. It will simulate the rebuild that happens when installing OTAs.

Thanks, I will try these options and report back!
hmm, I noticed same thing with my Bose NC 700, can adjust volume but nothing more.
edit: seems to be working now.
UPDATE:
One of the last 2 carrier updates fixed this issue. Also fixed the issue of HBOMax not logging in. All working now. Camera still sucks tho.
