[Q] GEL Launcher - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

just wondering, i've cheched into playstore, but the google launcher isn't available for this device, is there a way to install it onto our device? TIA

Just download the APK and sideload it like you would any other app. You can get it from here:

I've been using the GEL since I received my OPO and I personally love it. I'm using it along with "L" theme.

Depending what ROM you have, use http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/standard-minimal-gapps-t2012857 the standard package and it comes preloaded with GEL. And yes its in the N5 forum, works for OPO.

Why not just flash the google apps addon and use the Market app?
yea, download the "gapps" file
This is the best replacement out
applanet
Yeah, the second step when installing cyanogenmod is to install the google apps. No one would use cyanogenmod if they couldn't have the market.

Launchers aren't usually flashed; they are just installed like normal software. As Pirateghost said, just download it from the market. Search for the term "Gingerbread launcher" from the publisher MoDaCo. Once you install it, when you exit to your home screen, your phone will prompt you for which launcher you want to use.

thanks but what I was looking for also deleted a few other things that cleaned up the system some
I wasn't looking for this specifically but I think I stumbled upon what you're looking for on Google just now. I know it's in the EVO section but no reason you can't do a backup and give it a shot. Check this link out:

HTC Tasks apk request

I just recently switched to an AOSP based ROM, and I incorectly thought that the Tasks app was a google app when it was actually an HTC app. I can't find the APK anywhere, and it would be great if someone could get me a copy of it.

Pixel Launcher

So I downloaded and installed the leaked Pixel Launcher apk onto my G5 that is all over the web, and it's nice and all, but the left swipe to the Google app does not work. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Hi, djkeller3...
Did you install it as a System app?
(...and for which you'll need to be rooted or have a Custom Recovery installed, eg TWRP).
If not, the Google Now left slide panel won't work.
See here for more details...

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Labs

XTRONS Launcher - Name?

Hello!
Can anybody tell me which Launcher XTRONS is using for their Headunits with Android 8.0 and where to get it from? (see attachment)
It's my favourite one and I would like to use it with a Custom ROM.

Here you are. I've extracted them especially for you from the Malaysk ROM. The launcher you are looking for is the GS one
P.S. It could be that you also need the widgets. Ask me again if so.
Great, thank you!
PS: yes, please also give me the Widgets - THANK YOU!

I've uploaded the widgets apk
thank you, but I can only find the widget for the HCT launcher - or is it the same as the "GS" launcher? (the one that I am looking for)

HCT is the software developer of different Android head units like HA, GS, KGL, LM, KLD, ... The software installed on the units is the same, only the launchers are different. That`s why this apk is called HCTwidget_GS.apk. GS is Xtrons (seller).
Hey Guys,
thx Oberbergler for the upload, but it doesnt work for me and my friend.
The installer just says that he cant install this program. (Launcher3_GS.apk) @erdloch

That's a package name problem because all hct launchers in Android 8 are using the same package name. You have to uninstall the stock launcher of your ROM first.
I had no chance to try it yet, but will probably do this today or tomorrow.
Maybe a stupid question, but what happens when I delete the stock launcher? Do I still have an interface where I can install the Launcher3_GS.apk? Do I get the "standard" Android launcher?

Thx for the answer.
I've uninstalled all the launchers in the system apps including Launcher3, except the LauncherLM. That's the only launcher remaining on my device.
And i still can't install the Launcher3_GS.apk
Do you know where I've could went wrong?
I have the same problem as waxjee...any suggestions?
I have the same problem and I don't know how to solve it. We need an app with different package name, but I don't know how to compile it.

You could try changing the package name by editing the AndroidManifest.xml file using apkstudio. I use version 4.0.3 and have done with other apps that I need original and modified versions installed on the same deviice and it works great.
Change the package name (Usually top line "package=")
Save
Build
Sign
Then copy to your device and install
The save, build, sign are all buttons on the toolbar, and I have found it works a treat.
Hello,
wanted to ask if someone has already solved the problem, the GS Launcher to install and if he did it how the whole thing works.
Thank you for your feedback
Hi, i found this forum thread after looking for the exact same launcher theme. Im havin no luck installing it, i seem to have no permissions to install it at all. I've yet to try apkstudio, but im completely unable to uninstall the stock launcher, the option is greyed out! Any ideas?
This would also be very useful for me too as I am indeed looking for this launcher. But my unit has not been rooted and have no wish too... can this still be done?
It's an old thread but hopefully it's still alive
I tried changing the package name using APKStudio but somehow I couldn't. Can someone with the right skill set please change the package name for the "GS" LAUNCHER located in the first page and uploaded it back here. Thanks a lot!
any one had any luck with this?
anyone get this working?
