I asked on another forum, but the advice given doesn't work on my phone. I want to remove the lock screen circle widget with the date and time, but it doesn't budge. It won't swipe up or down at all. It only has a side to side rocking animation and there's no way to get rid of it. Am I stuck with this this ruining my lock screen wallpaper?

Go into Settings > Lock screen and enable "Widgets". This will allow you to swipe to the left and add a new clock widget. Once you have one, you can swipe up and remove the default Circle clock.

Are you trying to disable widgets after you set it? You have to keep the widgets setting enabled to use the custom clock.
No...I've left it enabled.
Looks to me they are pretty much forcing us to have a clock widget on the lock screen.
Do you have the quick circle case setting enabled? Under General settings?

On the lock screen, long press the circle clock and drag it to the top to remove. Then click the plus sign on the screen to add the widget of your choice. Hope this helps.
Any update on this, as of 10L the methods above don't seem to work, if I remove the clock I have to set another widget in it's place and I don't want that. I simply want to remove the clock all together as I don't need it.
Has anyone found a way to remove the clock (I am rooted btw)?

I use the XPosed Module G3 Tweaksbox which has a lot of tweaks available. While I don't see one currently to remove the stock circle clock on the lock screen, I suspect the developer of the module might be able to add it. You might want to reach out to him and see if it is something he can do. There is a link to the module's thread in my signature.
EDIT - I found another solution in the G3 Tweaksbox thread..... I tried it and it works just fine. No root needed.

You can hide it.
Download blankwidget from the playstore, go to lockscreen and swipe right to add widgets. Add the blank widget and then swipe back to the circle one. Press and hold and then remove it

I think you were not using a blank widget and that is why the stock clock kept reappearing. You have to have a custom widget for it to not appear. By using a blank widget, it meets the requirement to keep the stock clock away, but you don't see anything on your screen.

Works like a charm, thanks.
I like the circle clock widget on the lock screen, but i'm wondering how to change the look of the day and month. For example, i would like it to read....12 Apr, instead of Apr 12. Is there any way that i can do this? Thanks for any help.

I hope I'm just doing something stupid ...
I can't add most widgets I've downloaded to my lock screen on my Nexus 5 ... though they all work fine adding to my home screen. Only a few (like Android Weather) are available when hit the "plus" on a blank lockscreen.
All I want is a brightness widget that can make the display bright so I can properly put in my password in bright sunlight (I never set my brightness to auto, it's too annoying for me).
ie. Power Widget lite would be perfect for my needs!
Any one having the same problem? Any ideas?
I have the same problem. Wanted to add some beautiful clock widget to homescreen (don't remember exactly which one), downloaded, installed, went to add to homescreen - no luck.
Why can't you get something like power toggles. Then you could pull down notification bar on lockscreen and toggle brightness to what you wanted. An extra step I know

I can add everything I've downloaded add to homescreen. But almost none can be added to my lockscreens. That's my problem.

Very cool app, thanks for pointing it out. But ... I can't pull down the notification bar when the phone is locked ... how are you able to?
you add widgets on your lockscreen by enabling them in security. there's a checkbox that says "enable widgets"

Yep, did that. The thing is only SOME can be added. Very few that I've downloaded (even though they all seem to work on home screens).

Wow AWESOME app! That's exactly what I need! I was looking for a bunch of widgets on one row, which the lockscreen doesn't even seem to allow, but this widget already let me configure everything I needed in one row of buttons.
It turns out that THIS widget CAN be placed on the lockscreen (I'm not talking about the one visible in the notification bar, I can only access that when the phone's already unlocked).
BUT ... I still want to know why most widgets can't get placed on the lockscreen to begin with. Are they not Android 4.4-lockscreen-compatible yet?

The widgets have to be enabled to work on the lock screen by the developer.

Aha! Didn't expect that widgets needed special lock screen support.
So there's home screen widgets, lock screen widgets, notification bar widgets, ... I wonder what other classes of apps I'm missing - widget widgets? It would be nice if Google Play Store could search based on widget class.
Hi all, I just got my nexus 5 and right after I updated my system to Android 4.4.2, I tried to add widgets to the lockscreen, but it just doesn't work. I know you have to enable widgets under security in the settings and I did that. I just can't swipe left on the lockscreen to get that plus sign. Also dashclock doesn't work. Help! Any idea is much appreciated.

I find that I have to really swipe from the edge of the screen, some cases may prevent this or make it difficult.

You have to expand the widget first. Just drag the clock widget downwards. When its expanded, try swiping your screen. It should work.

Word/Text clock lockscreen widget ?
Is there such a widget for a lockscreen, which would display a clock / time written in words ?? Like the clock face one on Pebble smart watch, for example?!
Example, the time is 5:36 and on the widget it would be displayed as "five thirty six" !
Thanks

Of course. Just search for "text clock widget".
Title says it all... Basically, I want to remove/disable lockscreen widgets, (which is an option in many ROMS), however use a custom widget (instead of the standard clock)... get it?
I tried replacing the standard widget, then disable all widgets... however, unfortunately that brings backs the main clock lockscreen widget.
Anyway

Ah, the reason I asked, is because I HATE to see the white highlight sqaures when I unlock the device.... (Love lockscreen widgets tho)... just wish I could make the white highlighting transparent... ;(
How about something like widget locker?

With cataclysm ROM, you can make it so that there's only 1 widget on the luck screen

Edit: nvm gravitybox removed this feature a short time ago
I was wondering the same thing
I have gone into security settings and enabled lock screen widgets. This allows me to add DashClock widget to the lockscreen, however, I am unable to remove the default weather/clock widget from the lock screen. "Remove" is greyed out and the only option when you grab it is to "edit" it. DashClock works fine and I can remove it like normal.
This wouldn't be too big of a deal but it won't let me move the default to a different screen, its locked to page one so to get to DashClock I have to swipe.. Well, if I have to swipe its pretty pointless to have lockscreen widgets, I can just swipe to unlock the phone and have my widget on my homescreen.
I was able to take some screenshots to demonstrate what I'm talking about - I'm "new" so I can't post the link but try this: imgur.com/a/oCfVt
I was unable to find a way myself. I've been using this lock screen app instead https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slidelock
Really nice. Lots off features.

Has anyone found a solution to this?
Only way to do is ..
The only way to hide/disable the stock HTC weather/clock widget is if you have rooted devices with installed Xposed Framework. There is a module called "Sense 6 Lockscreen Modes" where you have an option to remove/hide the widget, in that way being able to have any other widget on your main lockscreen !
I researched about this a lot, and the most covenantway to disable/hide the widget was to apply this module, plus you can have it back any time you want, just by disabling that module!
I have just installed the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Resurrection Remix rom.
All working just fine, still getting used to it.
One question?
Only two options of weather apps available for the Lock Screen.

I would like to use the BBC weather map if possible.

I have the BBC app / widget on but cannot find any way to add it to the lock screen.
The option to customise lock screen weather gives only the two options I mentioned above.
Update
I found the way to add the weather widget to a side screen from the lock screen but that is not actually what I wanted.
I would like to change the weather widget on the lock screen if possible.

You need to set "Custom widgets" on lockscreen. Then you long press on the actual widget and delete it. Then you can add your preferred widget.

Thanks for that.
Tried your suggestion and although I have the Custom Widget turned on I am unable to get the option to remove the weather from the lock screen.
I can with this Rom, de-select the weather widget on lock screen in settings to remove it.
Still no way to add my own selection to lock screen.
I can add a new screen to the side of the lock screen but that's not what I wanted.

That did the trick although it doesn't look very good due to the length of our village name.
But it works a treat otherwise.
Much appreciated :good:
