hi have been trying to update to 4.0 via flash tool but ive tried everything and cannot get it to work......ive been trying for 3 days and ive pretty much had enough of trying on my own so i though id would ask for help.
ok firstly i am on gb 2.3 im running custom cm7 no probs but i wana take the next step 4.0 so....i have all lg flash tool etc and fast load etc all nessacary files needed but for some reason my phone wont connet and flash its doing my head in. i have it into download mode, battery out etc but after that nothing i cannot progress further its like the program wont connect/register the phone.
im running win7 i even looked into other post and thought this maybe the problem but i have already installed these when gone into download mode as said here If you plug your Phone on PC without battery, OMAP4430 device appeared for seconds and then disappeared in your Windows Device Manager
(check arsen4oo photo guide in post #3)
On windows 7 sometimes OMAP4430 flashes too fast so you cant install driver.
There is a a windows feature that will help you install the driver easier.
To view devices that were once installed but are no longer attached to the computer, open a Command Prompt window using the Run As Administrator option and enter the command:
SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
Then, from the same command prompt, type devmgmt.msc to open Device Manager. Choose View, Show Hidden Devices. The new instance of Device Manager will show “ghosted” entries for devices that were once present. This technique is especially useful for fixing problems caused by leftover drivers after replacing a network card or video card—you can easily delete the ghosted device or update the OMAP4430 driver.e
i just dont know what im doing wrong
cheers in advance
HI,
Please uninstall all LG drivers, and start again. If you are using WIN7, run it with WINXP SP3 compatibility mode.
Getting the Software upgrade screen is tricky, the timing needs ti be just right for the screen to stay, else it blinks and the OMAPP difficulty starts.
You need to listed to the connect disconnect sounds carefully.
Its not difficult, just that the timing needs to be right for the battery to be inserted.
all the best

Make sure all the drivers from the guide are installed. (including omap driver)
Load the DLL and the rom to lg flashtool.
Listen to the port with LG flashtool's port settings. (One is enough , The icon with a printer cable that's the port settings)
Take the battery out but be ready to plug it back in.
connect the usb cable.
Hold volume up
You're gonna hear sounds from windows in this order ;
1.Connected
2. Disconnected
3. Connected (Again , when you hear this plug the battery back in)
If you did it right then you're now in download mode.
Go to the device manager , find the LG device (I don't remember the name , but there is only one so you'll see it.) and go to properties , advanced and port settings.
Change the port to com41.
Flashtool should take over and start.
For extra guidance , see xbsall's thread ;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942836
To enter download mode .
Your phone in your hands without anything :-
1- Pull out battery .
2- hold vol+ and keep holding .
3- Connect your phone and you are still holding....
4- Now the phone is connected and you are holding vol+ . Insert battery and keep holding for about 3 seconds . Now the phone in download mode (there are some korean words on the screen) .
That's all
Good Luck

Because you're flashing the baseband before you flash the ROM. Change the sequence , ROM first then baseband. (Just remove the baseband you added on the flash tool ".fls file" then add it again it's gonna be flashed after the ROM )
Edit : I can help via team viewer if you want.

I bought a Cubot GT72 from the net - its basically a chinese knock-off with some very nice specs. And it was working great out of the box; but I had to experiment - right?
Edit: cannot post links; but if you got to www cubot net - you can find the phone easily. The stock ROM is also available.
I fired up MTK-Tools and rooted the phone - no problem there. Then I tried to create a custom CWM and install - that's when things starting going down the drain. It overwrote the recovery and boot partitions - so the phone stopped working. And since then I have been trying various ways to unbrick it.
Luckily, I have another phone with the exact same specs - and was able to download a backup using MTK-Tools and another one using SPFlash.
Problem - the phone is not switching on at all. When I connect it to the computer (after installing the MTK drivers) - nothing happens. When I connect without battery and keep the Up volume pressed - the computer detects an "MTK COM Port", installs it and within 5-10 seconds the port disappears, comes back after 5-10 seconds - and this cycle keeps repeating. I'm not able to connect to the phone using wither MTK-Tools or SPFlash.
When I connect the working phone - it shows up as "MTK VIA COM Port" and I can connect to it using SPFlash.
Have opened the phone and looked for test points - found one that switches on the phone and connects to the computer - but the result is the same as when I connect with the volume up pressed.
Please help - I'm at my wits end.

Ok Google "mt6572 com port drivers" and look for ***.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.***, install the software off that site and see if your computer recognizes the com port, hopefully you'll be able to flash the original rom back to it, let me know how you get on :good:

Thanks Neo, The driver is installed - the problem I'm facing is that the phone keeps going offline every 30-40 seconds and hence am unable to flash.
okies
OK thanks for the reply. Its obvious these MTxxxx devices wait for a signal when you plug them in.
1.Try going to the SDK folder and open a command prompt, type fastboot flash boot "boot.img" > point the boot.img to where you have downloaded the original boot.img for the device.
2.When the fastboot gives you the [waiting for device] prompt plug in your phone.
Let me know how you get on, i'm going to be working on a program to flash these phones from windows. :good:
p.s if the above works then flash your original recovery as well

Hi Neo - tried. The phone gets detected, but fastboot remains stuck at [waiting for device]. Please see screenshot.
Also, I think the preloader is also gone
Diffrent Drivers
Ok i noticed on there website that there are a different set of drivers, where the ones you have installed emulates a com port the other ones gives you direct access to the USB port, go to adb and type adb devices so that your phone will show up in the device manager, uninstall those drivers and install these ones ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm.
Then try and flash the preloader in the usual way, first type flash preloader {name of file} then connect your phone and hopefully you will be able to flash your phone again.
Let me know how you get on again :good:

Apologies for the late reply - tried your method - the phone gets detected as MediaTek DA USB VCOM port - but fastboot or SP flash are unable to detect.
Also, now I have managed to brick the other phone also. Was trying to upgrade the ROM from cubot's website. And even that one is bricked
Really frustrated here.

hi, did you manage to work out anything? i have the exact same problem with my GT72, and i'm out of ideas.
I finally gave up and sent it for repairing. The vendor has been trying to repair it for the last 2 weeks and has given up too. The problem with my phones is that they are not original cubot - the seller on aliexpress is selling fake cubot phones - and we're unable to find the correct files to write to the phone.
Now if only I could find a way to write back the ROM0 file without the scatter files - I had though that would be easy, but am unable to do anything about it

maybe i have a fake one, too then. wierd stuff, that is. faking a $60 phone...
anyway, i'm guessing you can only use that ROM_0 file to create a proper preloader.bin for the phone, but you need a working one for that.
you could do that in MTK droid root & tools, but since our phones doens't get detected, we're stumped.
i think having the right preloader could push us to the right direction, but i'm not planning to order a new phone to revive my dead one
anyway, if you make any progress, let us know!

i know you uploaded it, but the problem is that i can't do anything with it in MTK droid root & tools, since it only works if there is a working phone connected to the pc.

here's my "progress":
i was able to salvage a preloader.bin from your dump, this was the only one i could get flash tool to start preparing flashing.
i ran into numerous errors after that, but i managed to build a seemingly flashable rom, but it just does not work.
i could format the nand with it, but when i try to flash, it says that the bootlader exceeds partition boundary, whatever that means.
so i'm pretty much stuck at this point, but i'll attach the preloader for you, maybe it will work with your scatter.
the scatter btw did not work for me, since the addresses were wrong (i guess that scatter is for 512MB version, too).
so i built a scatter from scratch with notepad++ it's in the zip, too.
now i just wish there would be someone with a 256MB version able to make a backup with mtk droid and share with us.

Can you get into the recovery menu and do factory reset or anything else??
I guess you've tried resetting via the reset button?
There doesn't appear to be a stock rom available for the GS-918 on the Dopo website, have you contacted them to see if they are able to help?
You could try leaving the tablet on when it freezes until the battery runs right down and it turns off, then put it on charge and try it again, not much else I can think of at the moment

yes i can do everything but it doesn't fix anything :C
and yes, i've tried the ressetting via reset button.
i can swear you there is no dopo GS-918 model drivers or rom in the whole web u.u
I contacted them but they only told me about the recovery menu, and i send them a question but they haven't answered me yet.
((((
now the pc recognizes the tablet via usb, well, it recognized first like vid_1f3a_pid_efe8_driver, then it disappeared and recognized a M3-CHIP driver but with errors (The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver, blabla.)
so i think i need to find the M3-CHIP driver isn't?
EDIT:
I let the battery ran out, and now shows me the box that says: Android is upgrading, Optimizing app 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 of 39, but never pass the 7 now, then i restart the tablet againt, and say: optimizing app 20 of 23, but it freezes, then i restart the tablet... againt, and say: optimizing app 1 of 7, i restart again the tablet, and then it freezes in the first logo forever, the end :C
So, i think one of those last applications is creating the conflict
EDIT 2:
so, now im stuck in the system recovery, i choose reboot system now, and again, i am in System recovery , even if i only press the + volume or -, with the tablet off, it boots automaticly the system recovery :S

I think its banjaxed mate, I think your only hope is if the manufacturer is willing to help you, there are no files available anywhere that I can find, the only thing that might have fixed it is a factory reset, and I guess that is not working from your recovery menu?
Is it out of the question to return it to Dopo?
I suppose you could try running the battery right down again, then leaving it for a while and then restarting again, and keep doing that in the hope that it fires up as its supposed to, but to be honest I have my doubts that it will.
Sorry I cant be of any more help.

I suppose you could try running the battery right down again, then leaving it for a while and then restarting again, and keep doing that in the hope that it fires up as its supposed to, but to be honest I have my doubts that it will.
Sorry I cant be of any more help.

The factory reset on these models (DOPO/nobis/apex) only re-initialize the data/cache partitions it will not touch/fix the system partition.
Based on the gist of the initial post -- the only solution is to send the tablet to the factory so that they can reload the firmware.
I am in the same boat right now...
Originally I had some file system errors on the internal nand (on APEX GS-918) that caused the boot animation to loop endlessly -- because I had 'USB Debugging' enabled' I was able to open a adb shell
and run fsck/e2fsck and fix it.
But I have a similar problem now (possibly due to adding an option in build.prop) and also disabled 'USB Debugging' and
I can no longer use adb to open a shell during the boot logo.
PS: I hate to necro a thread -- but people need to know that the issue, described, is by-design........they want you to send it in the factory.
When doing a factory reset, any respectable stock recovery, should restore the system partition.
PPS: I do not believe you can install and update in the stock recovery that attempts to write to the system partition.
I believe that can only be handled by using various amlogic tools (such as amlogic usb burning tool, which requires the firmware image that we don't have)
Hello everyone I have a few questions. First to say that I'm not new to android yet I don't think I'm very advanced. Anyway here is my situation: I have brand new chinese phone Cubot x6 which is with MT6592 chipset(or CPU I'm not sure). I rooted the device with Framaroot and everything was OK. Then I found CWM for the device on needrom(dot)com and when I flashed the recovery with "Flashify" it rebooteed but it is now stuck on the kernel logo. I can enter only in recovery which is still the stock one . I can't do anything except entering into the stock recovery. I have the stock ROM but it is NOT in a flashable .zip but in a folder which is used by some flashtool program (not the one for Sony but rather for MT devices) I have the stock boot.img, recovery.img and system.img. When I try to "apply update from sideload" and sideload either the boot or recovery images I get "installation aborted". If you guys can tell me how to enter fastboot mode and from there to flash system.img OR any other way to fix the phone please tell me.
P.S. The hardware buttons are only volume rockers and power button. I also tried to install MUIU but it can't flash it with stock recovery.
Please help me. I would be able to manage it somehow if I'm able to use adb, but I can't within the stock recovery.

I'm following this, as I tried to do this before, I was apparently doing something wrong and I couldn't get to the part where the program would actually flash it and it never showed progress bars or even detected the phone, now finally my phone is recognized by the program and it's now stuck on the red progress bar, when I put my mouse over it says "Download DA Now..." ?? what is it?
Should I do something, I don't wanna stop it with fear it may brick completely...
7 mins has passed, do I leave it there? I just saw the red progress bar going up to 100% and stay there... Nothing more, purple, or yellow :crying:
Does it usually takes that much? Another thing is that I don't see the device (usb) showing up in the Device Manager... is something going on? the sp flash tool might have become stuck on it doing nothing, but like I said, I dont wanna stop it with fear it might be actually doing something, and then I break it :S

Alright, thanks for letting me know, i know what is causing to behave like that, the thing is that the usb is abruptly getting disconnected, so when it gets detected it starts working like a charm and it starts detecting the phone in the sp flash tool, etc etc but when its about to start really doing anything like flashing or anything concrete the usb simply disconnects and I dont even see it anymore in the Device Manager list... And it appears as "Mt65xx Loader" in the Device Manager, for just few seconds before terminating... Might be that Im using the wrong drivers or The wrong cable ??? Or both??? I'm using an usb cable that was made for an HTC and it had assigned the drivers of my HTC phone... But at the same time, it uses that Mt65xx Loader driver thing that I installed as well...

Hello, my first language is spanish also, so I understood the tutorial, however, you can refer to the reply that i sent to Qwerty, above, since the problem I think is on either the drivers im using or the cable itself....
Hmmmm so your problem is your connection disconnects after flashing starts .I helped a guy who had a similliar problem (his USB disconnected after 3 seconds so the tool doesn't flash ) I'll look it up again .
In the meantime I would like to know the condition of your phone like how you bricked it ,does the phone show any sign of life etc...

Yup, Oh Lord, ty, I will really appreciate if you can give me a hand on this one and you're working on it alrdy so I'm really grateful :silly: :good:
Alright, conditions, it does shows signs of life, however, I can get past the boot logo, to the "main screen" where launcher is etc, etc... But the thing is that, since I was working on a rootkit, I disabled many of the processes that I saw were 'suspicious' by suspicious I mean (e.g.) "com.gogle.services" with version: "1.4" instead showing something like process: "com.google.services" with version (e.g.) "version: 4.4.22.493 build: 493823-22-1114" you see.
So I started deleting those processes and installed ES File Manager, which it has a built-in cleaner, so after I finished disabling those processes, I started deleting junk files like a mad man using ES File Manager, and I remember going to the root and deleting the majority of the folders and files that I saw, so probably that's whats happening
Now with that previous story told... Now when I get past the boot logo, I just get this plain black screen, with only the battery status showing up, like literally only that, and the top scrollable menu, I'm able to carry it down but it has no notifications whatsoever, when I plug in the USB (while the phone is on) I get nothing whatsoever from the phone to the computer...
Hope this info helps in debugging whats going on here

Try these and let me know if any of these works
1)try uninstalling the drivers. Then reinstall ,reboot PC and try to flash again
2) does your phone has meta mode? Some mt65xx phone have it. To try accessing it do the following
Load the scatter like usual in sp flash tool ,click download ,now power off your phone(with battery) and connect to pc but hold vol+ button as well .(sometimes you need to hold the vol+ button throughout the whole flashing)
As far as your story goes the final solution is either1) flashing your stock ROM or 2)flash a custom recovery and install a custom rom but both of these require the sp flash tool process to work.
Edit : you know I'm telling you this because I believe you tried factory reset already ,if you havnt try it first.
Sp flash tool is for unbricking mostly.

Thank you for everything!
Finally got it to work! everything was working good, except the phone itself since it was semi-bricked apparently it couldn't make it to activate the usb system itself... however I went to SP Flash Tool and instead using only "Download" option, I instead used "Format All + Download" ... And then the USB didn't disconnected anymore and then I saw the tool working on it and the progress bars running perfectly! it took like less than 50 seconds to do everything when I saw the big green check mark on my screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!! Thanks!

Hey Friends,
You must have seen very good days with Lenovo P2 but when there comes a bad day when your phone stops responding to button holds and restarts. You may or may not have a clue what to do to get your phone working again just like before.
I got into this situation where only thing my phone was able to operate was a RED LED on connecting it to my laptop. Then I had to read tens of pages on XDA to find answers to all my questions. If you are in such a situation and your phone is UNLOCKED then you have come to the right place. Procedure is quite simple but remember, I am writing this guide to define complete process from blackout to complete update so follow this guide as per your needs.
I faced this situation of Total Blackout / Dead Phone (Almost) with only Red LED working and it can be very scary. So, here is the simplest procedure you can follow. I want to appreciate all those people who helped me in finding a way to boot my phone with each and everything working. Long story short, let's get this done.
Tools Required:
I am mentioning here all the Tools you will need. I will urge you to download and save these tools in case you want to unbrick your phone any time:
1. Minimal ADB and Fastboot setup for PC
2. Lenovo USB drivers v1.1.33
3. Qualcomm USB Drivers
4. Qualcomm Flash Image Loader (QFIL) v2.0.1.9 for your PC in case you have corrupted your phone's IMEI and/ or Baseband
5. Blankflash.bat in case you want to recover from total blackout (Attached)
6. Stock MM S048 Firmware for Lenovo P2 in case phone doesn't boot
7. S048_ModemTelephony.zip in case your phone boots through Stock MM S048 but SIM isn't detected and IMEI is missing. I have made a complete modem zip file for installation through recovery.
8. S251_ModemTelephony.zip in case your phone is on latest firmware and doesn't detect SIM and has lost IMEI. I have made a complete modem zip file for installation through recovery.
9. QCN file for recovering baseband version and giving you most precious network signals. (Attached)
10. WinRAR or PeaZip for uncompressing files
I will recommend you to have a specific folder for keeping all these tools in a single place.
Procedure for Unbricking:
Before going with the procedure, make sure you have downloaded all the files you need, updated Lenovo and Qualcomm drivers etc. Here is the procedure:
1. If total blackout with red LED notification when connecting to PC: Unzip blankflash.zip to a folder in C drive. Now connect your P2 to PC through USB, press volume+, volume- and power button simultaneously and double click blankflash.bat. You might have no success in your first try. Just keep trying and it will load your phone to Fastboot. Restart your phone in TWRP if installed and install a working ROM for your phone after doing a wipe. If all is good and phone works OK then great but if you have lost IMEI and baseband then it is better to reinstate your phone through first MM stock ROM S048
2. Install S048 firmware through Minimal ADB and Fastboot - use flash instructions in .txt file.
3. Wait for startup of phone. Check if fingerprint, BT, WIFI and SIM work if all work then OK.
4. If fingerprint, BT, WIFI and SIM are not working then check IMEI through dialer. Dial *#06#. If IMEI is not available then install latest TWRP through Fastboot.
5. Start P2 in TWRP recovery and install S048_ModemTelephony.zip. Restart phone to see if WIFI and SIM work.
6. If SIM is detected but not giving signals and Baseband is shown as unknown then extract 000000_0.qcn file given in .7z and restore through QFIL and restart your phone into Fastboot.
7. Now, install stock recovery of S048 firmware through Fastboot and restart your phone.
8. Use your phone like you normally do and update your P2 till firmware S251 and see if everything works including calls. Update your phone through OTA.
9. After OTA installation, stock recovery may say that update failed. Just press Back, go into Wipe user data menu and Wipe Cache only. Restart your phone which will be updated to latest version and will ask you to update to a newer version. Allow it to download the next update.
10. After installation of S251 update, install latest TWRP through Fastboot and install most recent version of LOS 16 so that your vendor partition is stable and free from any bloated files. Now, use your phone just like you want to.
If you need further clarification then ask in this thread.

You should download S048 and use flashall.bat inside that archive to install it all. However, if you lose IMEI or baseband then you can use modem and qcn files given in this thread.

If red light blinks, your phone can be detected by your laptop. Check ports in device manager settings and you'll see a new port with Qualcomm 9800 series number. If that's there, try blankflash to start in fastboot. It might need some tries before startup. Be patient and keep trying till you are in fastboot.

No. Keep USB connected. Try blankflash. If it doesn't detect phone or go ahead. Close command terminal, double click again and keep doing it till it processes the files. If it is stuck somewhere. Close terminal and try again.

I think you might have damaged some hardware. But anyway if you want to use blankflash, I have a method.
In lenovo p2 we have another mode called QDloader mode, in which we can use blankflash. For entering into this mode, it's little tricky but, can enter in one or two go.
So, here's how:
1. Switch off the mobile.
2. Press the volume up key,
3. While holding the volume up key, insert the usb cable and at the same time press the power button (this is the trick, we have to insert and hit at the same time).
And voila! :highfive: you will see black screen with only red notification led blinking.
we are into QDloader mode. Now use blankflash :good:
