Returning One Mini Back to Stock? - HTC One Mini

Hey Guys
I've not been around the Android scene for a while, and I've got a HTC One Mini that's been rooted and a custom ROM on it.
Just wondering what steps I'd need to upgrade to Sense 6.0. UK Vodafone, currently on 4.4.3 rooted, but when I open SuperSU it tells me I need to manually re-root. Bootloader shows as tampered.
I've tried reading through the forum, but the information is overwhelming and I'm getting confused as to what I need to do.
Many thanks,
Adam

I'm in a same situation. The problem is there is no european ruu available to restore the HTC one mini. I currently use stock sense 6 Rom but I have a problem which is I get an error each time I try installing a paid app from Google play.

please move this thread to General.. this thread for development..

Wouldn't it be possible to use the US RUU and then update with an European OTA file through stock recovery?

Why you cant just flash this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...-official-stock-sense-6-rom-firmware-t2817921
It is extracted from OTA to flash via custom recovery.

Obviously, he's looking for a way to return to absolute stock so he can keep his warranty in effect.

[Q] Rooted sensation can be update official ics??

is it rooted android can update official ics??
If you are on a custom ROM, no. If it is only stock ROM with root, maybe. Typically, you need a stock recovery to accept OTA updates. If you used the HTCdev unlock method, you might still have stock recovery. If you used Revolutionary, most likely you have a custom recovery.
There's no way to recieve the update via ota while rooted unless your stock rooted but I'm pretty sure a dev will make a custom rom thats fully stock with the lates ICS build for the Sensation
if you are using stock rom

Im using rooted stock rom.....and i receive automatic update yesterday for ics... After updating the root was not remove but the boot loader is now s on.....
you should flash stock RUU first to get everything completely stock, especially the recovery.
no need to s-on. s-off is fine. and do not flash any custom recovery this time!
leave it stock and unrooted.
then you can apply ICS OTA after applying first OTA until ICS OTA.
after that you can flash custom recovery and root your device.

Haha yes, i have faith in the devs from our forum. OTA updates will come attached with sense and other bloatware, not exactly something I want to deal with.
if i flash back to stock rom can get the official update??
still on old custom rom not the ICS version

With the highest possibility - Yes!
So i think i have the same question.
I have my official stock rom rooted on my htc sensation, no custom rom installed.
But when i try to update to ICS (i get the option to update over the air) it gives me the "error" screen showing an android man, besides a warning mark.
So is this superuser blocking the update or something else?
And how can i update to ICS.
(i don't care if i lose my root, the phone can be rooted after the update)..

Just restore stock recovery and intact stock Rom file (not delete any apps in original stock rom) and you can update via OTA. But the bootloader could be lock again.

If you're rooted it is NOT advised to apply the OTA as it's more than likely going to screw your phone up. You're better off just going to a custom ROM instead

[Q] What steps to get OTA again?

I need help, I am new in this area, and do not understand much.
I have a Butterfly X920E
I'm with Root and Stock Rom 4.1.1, unlocked BootLoader, S-ON,
HBOOT 1.54, CWMR
I would like to get OTA again. I installed the Custom ROM, and when I click Check for Update, see the update 4.2.2, download the update normally, but restarts and enters the CWMR and not install.
Is not installing why? Is it because I'm not with the Stock Recovery installed? If I install (I could not find) One Stock recovery is enough to have OTA again? Or do I need to do something else?
Resolved.
Many thanks to Bassie39 for all the answers to my questions.
It is very simple to get OTA again.
1 - Place the Stock ROM;
2 - Put Stock Recovery
In my case it was only that.
Sometimes unroot and stock kernel is necessary too boot loader can be open that's no problem

Never attempt an OTA with with a custom ROM/Root/Boot loader on any model phone.

[Q] How do I update android on my rooted Moto G?

Every time I download the 4.4.2 update through the phone's menu, it gives me an Error while it is installing and the phone just reboots. I'm guessing it's because the phone is rooted.
What do I do? Phone is a European model if it matters.
I have the same problem.
Any suggestions?
I dont think it makes any difference if its rooted, have u installed a different recovery or kernel? I know u need stock rom, recovery and kernel or it'll bootloop, this happened to me

The solution that I'm aware of...
Hi there, as far as I know, the only way to be able to update the firmware is by unrooting the phone,
flash the stock ROM, install the update, then re-root it. I know it's a hassle, but otherwise you won't be able to unless you use a custom ROM. Hope that helps!
You need the original recovery
Sent from my Moto G
You need stock recovery.
The KitKat installation script also checks each file that it updates. If a file is found to differ from the stock file then the update fails.
So if you are rooted then at least one file is different from stock. Basically you need to unroot or flash stock before you can update.
Unrooting may still not allow you to update if the unroot process leaves any files different from stock. Best bet is to flash stock ROM then update.

Download voodoo ota root keeper and use that
Will bear the above in mind, thanks.

[Q] How to install OTA with rooted, S-OFF, TWRP

A month ago I rooted the stock rom, S-OFF, and install TWRP. I tried another ROM, but it didn't really interest me. I realized, that I actually like the stock ROM.
However, now I want to install the 4.4.3 OTA update. Is that possible? If I follow the directions, the device reboots in to TWRP, but does not install the update.
How can I install the OTA update, if I have a custom recovery?

It appears it is impossible: http://teamw.in/officialota
I guess I will have to completely reflash.
First off, it's not impossible. There's a thread in here with firmware that you can use and update without the OTA. Second, this is the wrong sub-forum for questions.

I'm also trying to get to 4.4.3 but after trying to re install the old recovery, it tells me I can't do the OTA.
Jeez...if you guys have soff and twrp and whatnot just flash the stock rooted rom scott gave us. Simple as that. You'll find it here in the vzw one m8 android development section.
Or alternately, if you no longer require control of you device at the lowest levels then just flash dottats RUU and magically your phone will be 100% stock.
But yeah, wrong forum.

The reason to do the OTA, is because I am lazy. I don't feel like reinstalling all of my apps, etc. The OTA is a nice incremental upgrade.
Where can I find the stock recovery, and directions to flash back to it? It is my understanding, that if I do that, I can apply the OTA.

Unroot and update to Lollipop without stock recovery

Hello,
I have a rooted Verizon HTC One M8 running on Android 4.4.2. I do not have the stock recovery and for some reason I am unable to flash CWM, so I am stuck with TWRP. I keep receiving notifications that Lollipop is available to install, but it fails each time I try to install it because I am rooted. How can I unroot and get back to my stock ROM so that I can install the update?
No need to update via OTA. Just follow the instructions here and you'll be on rooted 5.0.1 stock

Questions
Thank you for the reply. Are you 100% sure this is compatible/will work with my phone? If I flash the ROM and it doesn't work, can I simply flash a backup image I made to recover? And when I flash the ROM, will I lose all the data on my phone? Also, where may I download my stock recovery? I searched all over the internet and couldn't find one for the Verizon version of the HTC One M8.
Thank you
That RUU is a complete stock firmware package, including the recovery. Read the OP.
But if you're just looking for the stock recovery you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52017763
That alone won't let you take the OTA though. If you modified your stock rom the OTA will fail.
You can find a complete stock rom elsewhere here on XDA, but why the trouble if you have it all in one neat package with the RUU?
Thank you very much for the help and useful information.
Sorry to bother you with all the questions but I have one more. How do I make a backup of my stock recovery? Say I went out and bought a new phone, how would I backup that stock recovery?
