[Q] Video recording lag on Lg Optimus G @ Mahdi rom 4.4.4 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all. I wasn't allowed to post on the relevant Mahdi rom page cz I'm a new registered guy on xda (though I've been using xda for ages)
So coming to the point, i own an LG optimus g running mahdi rom 4.4.4, but I've been facing this video recording issue, no matter which camera i use. I've tried google camera, lgcamera (on play store), camera zoom fx n many others, but as soon as i convert to video mode, the viewfinder starts lagging even before I've started capturing the video
At first i thought it'd be ram issue (which shouldn't be cz optimus g is a high end phone), so i lowered down video resolution to 480p, but still same lag. With kernel tweaker, i turned the phone to 'performance' mode with whole 1.5 quad cores being utilized, but still same amount of lag.
when i point to something bright with camera, the viewfinder gets smooth. Means i can only shoot in daylight or very good lighting conditions at night, otherwise the camera is laggy. Any idea what the problem might be?
Another thing, that even on 4.4.2 Mahdi, i faced the same issue.. plz help, i can't make videos..

No response??

LG Camera [email protected]@19Mbs [P990/P999]

Hi all, somemadacaant over in the O2x dev forum has modified the stock LG camera app to do [email protected] I can comfirm that it works on our G2xs. Froyo only of course. Here's a link to the thread.
[MOD][DEV] LG Camera 1080p @ 30fps @ 19mb bitrate
Sample videos look great.
Thanks for the info. This works perfectly. Much smoother video performance.
Thanks erikku...i seen this in the 2x forum but was afraid to test it due to certain software separations between the 2x and g2x...want to report that it works great ...compared it to an older video I took and there is no lag or jerkiness...sound seems less distorted than before too!! Maybe soon they'll figure away to change the container from. 3GP to .MP4...

LG Camera on GB with true HD Recording

So after the GB update i was like man can LG be anymore "dumb", but it turned out they're not.
I hate the GB stock camera and liked the froyo version better. until i figured out that LG did that on purpose, not only they didn't want to waste time on rebuilding the camera app to GB version but they are hopping to make more money on selling their LG camera app. i found it on the Market and it's called "LGCAMERA PRO" and of course theres a free version but on the internet you can find the pro for free *wink *wink.
Make sure you get the most up to date version cause it fixes the rotation bug.
And this works with GB?
Yes it has capability of 2.2 and beyond..... it even has more options.
does the GB video camera have autofocus?

I assume you are talking about this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCamera&feature=search_result
Which is definitely not made by LG.
There's a manual focus, and a forced auto focus, don't ask me what that means" for the camera. And for video has a lot more options like video bitrate up to 20mps and downgrade and upgrade the video guality.
Its not being sold by LG. But it looks like a promising alternative.

Just tried it...IMHO Gb camera takes a better pic... I use my camera alot.. For work and personal use and right after installation I took a pic with it and compared it to a pic I took with the Gb cam... LG wasn't too good ...

forced auto focus? How do you do that?
For forced auto focus go at the very bottom of the menu and youll see it... side note stupid me found out the app is not made by lg ;p but it is a better camera app rather than the gb stock

hmm. i guess that option is not present with cyanogenmod.
Open the camera app and press your menu button, than scroll down to the common settings option and it'll be there for the forced focus
there's the option checked off with the green check mark alittle advice is to uncheck that option while recording a video cause it'll not auto focus while video recording
Ha... rubbber big pepper

As stated before, LG did not make this. Here is a link to LG's market apps which encompass a whole 3 user guides for specific phones and that's it.
Maybe tantan20171 is or is friends with the Dev.
But is it 1080p?

No I'm not just an average Joe trying to find an alternative camera apparently that gives us the option the option of having a full 1080 capability because right now we lost that spec and this apparently gives us that option

[Q] G2x - Weapon Camera

After I flashed weapon onto my phone. There have been 2 problems with my front facing camera, one that it comes out rotated 90 degrees for photo capture and when I try to use it for video it comes out completely messed up with 4 different screens, 1 with a green area, a blurred image of the camera and 2 other messed up views of the camera. Is there any fix for this? Thanks.
That happened to me while trying Skype. As for the bad screen I changed the Res, for the upside down I just rotated my phone. The finally I. Just said screw the stock cam and installed LG cam 3.0 which all works great except no Skype video

That's a known issue with LG Cam App... Try installing the stock Gingerbread Camera.

What's the difference between stock GB cam and LG Cam 3.0? Does it look different?

It looks different, has a couple features stock does not, and most importantly can record video in 1080p, something no other camera app on the G2X is capable of.
Here's a thread discussing the LG camera and what it can do if you're really curious. I personally don't find it necessary; the MIUI camera can do almost everything LG can do and Camera Advance can do everything (and more!) other than 1080p video, which I don't need.

LG CAM 3.0
Where can I find the .apk? I didn't see it on Market.
Nervermind, sorry. I found it. Also, it is a good app so far. I like knowing at what MP my pictures are as well as what size the video is recording at. Much btter than the standard GB cam app.

Only bad thing so far is that it doesnt work with Skype. I keep the stock cam zip file to flash via CWM when i need to make a skype video call.

lgCamerapro 6.3

hi guys,
don't know if you have tried lgCamerapro 6.3 yet but if you haven't, give it a try. it captures real 1080p videos at 30fps and with great quality to boot. i'm just having issues with its audio capture but apart from that, it works better than the o3d's default camera (less 3d capture of course)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.lgCameraPro&hl=en
attached pic is my settings... i just used 12mbits as higher bits "sometimes" gives the notorious audio/video cut haha
Can Do 3D
This app can do 3d you just need to switch the camera its after the front camera. Not sure about resolution though been couple of months since I used it. If I remember correctly you just have to to the 3d formating settings for it to view properly.
For me it doesn't work.Especially the video recorder. And on all settings.Maybe it's the Rom I use, the WaterBear

that's weird... works fine on my phone. maybe try tinkering with the settings? and btw, you should not check stereo recording and you should not go beyond 15mbs on the settings menu.

Not sure I understood from your video what the issue is... Explain to me in words?
Problem is in third party camera apps switched to Dual Camera.
In third party cameras eg. 3DSteroid or Snap Camera when switching to Stereo Camera (Dual Camera) in this time preview is in 2D side-by-side like in my video.
Real 3D mode isn't enabled.
This issue is only in ICS but not in GingerBread.
Stock ArcCamera works fine of course.
Can you do screen shot in your O3D with runned eg. 3DSteroid or Snap Camera with selected "Camera 3" in settings?
Like that:
Hi Bether, then the result is the same for me. I see 2 images side by side just like your captures.
