[Q] G2x - Weapon Camera - T-Mobile LG G2x

After I flashed weapon onto my phone. There have been 2 problems with my front facing camera, one that it comes out rotated 90 degrees for photo capture and when I try to use it for video it comes out completely messed up with 4 different screens, 1 with a green area, a blurred image of the camera and 2 other messed up views of the camera. Is there any fix for this? Thanks.

That happened to me while trying Skype. As for the bad screen I changed the Res, for the upside down I just rotated my phone. The finally I. Just said screw the stock cam and installed LG cam 3.0 which all works great except no Skype video

That's a known issue with LG Cam App... Try installing the stock Gingerbread Camera.

It looks different, has a couple features stock does not, and most importantly can record video in 1080p, something no other camera app on the G2X is capable of.
Here's a thread discussing the LG camera and what it can do if you're really curious. I personally don't find it necessary; the MIUI camera can do almost everything LG can do and Camera Advance can do everything (and more!) other than 1080p video, which I don't need.

LG CAM 3.0
Where can I find the .apk? I didn't see it on Market.

Nervermind, sorry. I found it. Also, it is a good app so far. I like knowing at what MP my pictures are as well as what size the video is recording at. Much btter than the standard GB cam app.

Only bad thing so far is that it doesnt work with Skype. I keep the stock cam zip file to flash via CWM when i need to make a skype video call.

This is the true aosp camera that will work on evo sense roms alongside your htc camera
Any more info? or screenshots etc?
install this like an app?

Thanks snandlal!
Installed it like a regular app.
Works pretty well in both camera and video modes.
Wish it had more options though.
Thanks a lot.
This is a step in the right direction. Would be nice if someone could take this and add all the changes that cyan had added to the AOSP camera in his rom.

Sorry I don't have a screenshot, but if you have used CM6, in the early stages before Cyanogen added all the new features to the camera, it is the same camera. Shows up as 3mp, one user said that even though it says 3mp, it is actually 8mp. I can't confirm this, as I no longer have this camera app on my phone. Can anyone else confirm the MP on this camera? Easy way to do this, is to upload a pic to your computer and open it in any photo app. You can also find the pic on your phone and long press the pic and select "Details". What is the resolution of pics taken with this app?

That's what I thought. I remembered the original camera from CM6 was only 3 and this looks like the exact same setup. I deleted when I saw the lack of options. I wish someone could mix in the changes that Cyanogen did to the cam app in CM6. That has a LOT of options.... lol

gb camera sucks!

it doesnt even take 720p anymore! tested the youtube high and regular high on gb camera they both take crappy 23fps 1080p sucks.... i feel screwed

yea the gb camera really sucks and I also noticed its darker. The focusing isnt as good and I feel that the quality of the pics is decreased. I used to love taking pictures with the factory lg camera. Is there a way to get the lg camera back, even if it means going back to 2.2? im guessing root and flash one of the 2.2 roms?
OTOH, I think the new camera does better with flash photos. With the original stock camera, things close to the camera were all overexposed and blown out. A couple of test photos in a dark room with the flash really came out looking very nice, much better than the old camera.
Does the GB camera take Panoramic pics and art pics?
I'm confused about the discussion of the cameras with gb mean we lost our specs with our original camera functions with froyo? If so what did we lose

Yea and it takes forever to take a phota even longer then LG camera app, man I could go take a **** and come back for the pic and still have to wait and that's with the timer off! And yes the fps is lower the LG camera in 2.2. And it also had more options why the hell would they do that, so so stupid for real, I bet it was to much of a pain for them to incorporate into gb

They just aren't willing to do the work. This "update" was likely started a month ago, its also likely there won't be another. Just a feeling, LG seems clueless.

No. They are both stock android cameras. But CM7 camera has more settings and focuses different. CM7 camera works way better.
Stock camera has these issues.
-FFC is way darker
-Camera FCs when switching to FFC video
-Some settings dont work (ffc exposure).

stock GB camera take batter pictures than cm7 you can tell when you zoom on pictures that's already taken. CM7 looks like 16 bits pictures and that some bad color quality. if you want shoot 30fps and higher bitrate on GB just edit the media_profile.xml

Camera app

As we all know the stock camera isn't the best. Anyone have good alternatives they use to take quality pictures?

what kind of camera to sd card?

sorry if that confused haha i meant from the camera problems to the sd card problems. as in 2 separate issues. Im returning my atrix 2 today too many issues that I dont see being updated anytime soon.
I am disappointed with Camera Zoom FX and am bummed that I let it get past the 15 minute refund window. Though, I suppose for $5 it is still better than the stock.
I REALLY liked the camera features that were on my Captivate - you can tap on a spot on the screen for lighting and focus, not relying on the image being exposed based on the center of the screen.
I like Camera Advance and Camera360 Ultimate.
Camera zoom fx. For sure

You have to press and drag the focus square in the middle for the Atrix2. I have no idea why motorola won't do it like everyone else with tap-area-to-focus
I have Camera Zoom FX, and I have to say that I prefer the stock camera app. I think that the stock camera app's UI is nice, the photos are good, it has a fair amount of different settings, and although it's not tap-to-focus it's drag-to-focus, which at first is annoying but now I prefer it as it lets you move the square more accurately.
I had the A4G before my A2, and I think that the A2's camera is at least as good as the A4G's camera, except for the flash (the A4G had an extremely powerful flash).
I tried the Camera Zoom Fx and the layout is much better than the stock but picture quality is a whole different story.
I took 2 sets of pictures (one with CZ fx and stock). In both sets, the resolution was NOTICEABLY clearer in the stock camera app. Totally unexpected for me because I assumed CZ Fx would be better. For instance a car licence plate was easily readable upon magnification with the stock app but almost unreadable with CZ FX.
Both apps were set to 8mp, auto focus.
Camera zoom FX pic's EXIF: F/2.8 5mm 1/274s ISO-100
Stock camera app pic's EXIF: F/2.8 5mm 1/257s ISO-65535
I will be sticking with the stock. Stock seems to optimize settings better.

I've tried Vignette as well as Camera Zoom fx - both are good for effects. Since the 2.3.6 update, stock camera works fine for me. I'm not big on effects. I just need a nice, focused, crisp photo and stock does that for me now.

I can confirm that... I'm on Endymion currently and i see the purple line too... approx 3-4 pixels thick.
But to be fair to instagram, they do warn when selecting the advanced camera that it does not work on all devices...

??? Why not just use the built in stock camera???
He wants to use instagram... And only has problem with the advanced camera inside of instagram. Just disable that option and you're good to go if your stock camera is OK. No sense using a third party camera of the problem is app specific.
Beamed telepathically using Tapatalk
The problem is with camera drivers from cm or the kernel.
The stock camera app has same problem.
That's why I use camera360 which have hardware compatibility mode.

Oh ok...
Just wondering... are you talking about an ICS ROM? Or GB? I think the OP has lost interest after starting the thread, and left us here to squabble!!
If you ask me, i think this problem is app centred, and I encountered it even on Instagram running on GB 2.3.5 (I'm running Endymion - Sense 3.5) where the stock camera is the best you'll find for the Desire S on any ROM.
I'm using stock ROM. Obviously I'm aware I can disable the option of using Instagram's in-built camera, but this is not the solution I'm hoping for I love Instagram filters but I don't like the fact I have to come out of the app and open up stock Android cam app, resize it, and go back again. Using Instagram's advanced am feature is so much better.
The rest of the image is fine and the option works perfectly APART from this one really ruining fluorescent pink line down the left side of every image.

Well, that's a bug with the app... sit tight, with Instagram's growing popularity, they're bound to roll out updates with fixes to the camera anytime soon!
Regardless, there's nothing you or I could do to fix an app issue. Instagram will have to fix that.
When you still experiencing this using Instagram camera try to switch to front camera take a shot, then revert to back camera. Pink line gone now. Works for me.
