[Q] How do I safely clean the internal sd card?

Hi all,
How do I clean my internal sd card? I recently rerooted. I followed the steps where it is said to delete Dalvic cache 3 times etc etc before flashing the new rom.
I still have old apps/folders on my internal sd card before I rerooted. I backed up my stock rom before I rerooted.
I am now on this rom ([ROM][12-7]TPC v3 2.3.5 | Da_G OC Kernel | IMG Flash | ATT | Rogers |)...... I also backed this rom up and applications.
I have 9.1 GB with 2.2 GB free. I'm running a bit low in my opinion because I still do not have any music, movies, or pictures on my phone. I do however have about 100 apps, 10 of which are HD games. Is the 9.1 GB reasonable?
I do see some old apps on the sd card though. Is there a quick way to delete them all or do I need to go down 1 by 1 and check every crevice of my internal card?
I'm not that concerned about it, since I will eventually get a 32 gig external sd card, but I want my phone as clean and efficient as possible.

/data and /cache and /dalvik cache have nothing to do at all with the sdcard, internal or external.
Settings, mounts and storage (can't remember exact wording) unmount and format USB storage
That will wipe everything off the internal SD.

Once u format ur internal ur going to lose everything. Make sure to copy ur back up to ur external or a PC. That's if you have ur back up in internal. Do titanium back so you will have ur apps and system data.

This! Titanium is the way to go.
Once you have your backup safely on a PC, you can also do it by going in to Settings/Privacy/Factory Data Reset, and if you check Format USB Storage it will clear everything off your phone (not sure if you're looking to do that--that would be all your pictures/videos/music--but these files can be large, especially video files)

I backed up my apps and settings, I do not have an external sd card though. When I connected my phone to the computer over wifi, using that aires application (forgot name). I copied the backup folder and pasted it on my computer. It stopped around 20% of the way through because I guess the phone was using some files.
Is there a way to copy to pc from internal sd card? Or should I just go out and buy the external sd card? thanks
I used rom toolbox pro to backup. Some reason I get errors with the lite version that came with the Da_g rom.
So my main goal should be copying that Backup_data folder that was created from the app and reloading that up after I delete the stuff in the internal storage.

Kies is the name of the program (I haven't used it much personally).
I'm not familiar with Rom Toolbox, but assuming that it works the same as Titanium it should be placing your backup on your usb storage, which you can access just by plugging in to pc and opening the drive.
I just wiped my sd card and usb storage and restored everything with the Titanium and cwm folders that I placed on my mac (screen shot attached), and then brought back on to my phone when I was ready.

Check the location and try again. .comgameloft.android.GAND.GLoftSD3H.apk, type: apk, size 4.13 mb, Date modified: 2/8/2012 11:20 pm.). It gave me the choice to try again, skip, or cancel (I just cancelled the entire thing).

Have you tried selecting the backup on your phone & then just copying it to a file on your p.c.? Just make a file on your desk top
If you use kies you can "see" the SD card on your phone from your p.c. Once you have an external card it comes in handy since you can see both

EDIT: Oh, you're saying Kies froze up trying to back it up. I'm saying don't use Kies, just copy the folder to your desktop.

Yea for some reason I can't see the root files on my phone. I googled this android commander program that lets you connect your phone to your pc enabling you to see all the hidden files. That samsung program is more like just syncing contacts type of thing. I was even able to copy my backs to my pc in like 3 mins. Deleting my internal sd card now.

[Q] After rooting and installing custom firmware, hardly internal memory on P5110

Hey there,
I finally got the courage to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P5110).
All went well. Put Odin3-v1.85_3 on it and shakatu_recovery-clockwork-unofficial-6.0.3.1-p5110.
After rooting i installed (as decribed on the webpage) a custom firwmare: cm-10.1-20130409-NIGHTLY-p5110
Everything works smooth and easy and fast (!), way faster than the stock firmware on it.
BUT: what happened to my internal memory? I only have a few apps installed (should be around 3 Gb), the same apps when i had stock firmware, but when i tried to install a game, it surprised my i had hardly any internal memory left!!!
When i go into settings and go to storage, the device calculates how much free space i got left. It shows me i have around 600 Mb left. Graphically it first shows it's almost full (grey bar), but later after indexing it shows the correct amount of free space. But the text underneath it remains around 600 Mb.
When i go into a file explorer and give it superuser rights, i can go to upper levels of the internal storage and there are loads of folders there. It seems it has something to do with the rooting or the stock firmware (backup or something)??
How can i clear more internal memory? Should I do some sort of wipe again in Clockwork Recovery??

BTW: swapping internal and microsd card memory is not an option for me.

i had the same problem!
but you will have to be on the stock rom, that is the original rom for your tab. Connect your tab on mass storage mode. Go to my computer, and format your tab from there. remember to make a backup of every thing. U will then have a full 12 gb free storage.

Hi,
You probably still have a lot of the junk from the stock rom on the internal sd along with the data from your new rom. If you have the rom file you flashed on your external sd card. You can boot into recovery and format /sdcard to nuke almost everything. You'll have to stay in recovery after this is done and reflash the CM rom and install the apps you want from scratch to get the maximum amount of free space.

So, if my custom rom (install)file is on my external SD card, i can format my (internal)sd card? Afterwards install the custom rom again (from external sd card) and i'm ready to go.
Is that correct?

[Q] flashed resurrection rom on galaxy tab 2 7.0, no memory left to install apps

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3113 (used to have jellybean 4.2.2.) and flashed the Resurrection Remix custom ROM and GAPPS on it. It's fantastic and running great!!!
The tablet came with 8 GB of space and I have a 32 GB sd card in it. I keep getting "not enough space" warnings from my SD card even though it's almost empty. I can't install any apps to the sd card, and there is not enough internal memory to store them either. This makes the tablet almost as useless as before I rooted and put a custom rom. Is there a way to get my sd card to stop thinking it's full/ allow apps to move over to it? Is the next step to partition the sd card and then use an app like link2sd? I've never done it before. Please advise, thank you.

Thank you, I did that already and it made no difference.

You can try transferring the data on the sdcards to some other place and then you can try formatting them through recovery

The ROM and data are in separate partitions. It sounds like you didn't wipe your data when you flashed a ROM with a different version of Android. So , the data partition is still full with your old data and the apps that are installed there are inaccessible by the system. You need to go to recovery and wipe data, but not the sd card, and not internal memory. I don't believe a factory reset will help since it seems the system already can not see the partition the apps are installed on now.

other option is...clean flash the rom again..this timefactory reset and format /system and also /data ..try to install as a new rom...also format ur internal sd too...try this if it works..

Un-Partition via TWRP

I just finished installing the latest ROM (YOG4PAS1N0) from here:
[ROM][YOG4PAS1N0] Cyanogen OS 12.1 [Rooted][TWRP flashable][NEW OTA]

and it works amazing!!! No issues so far...while I was doing it I decided to use TWRP 2.8.6.0 to do a back up. I know that the following is a very "old school" way of backing my data but what I used to do is just save all the files in the exact same way my OPO is shown via the windows file system, and so I used to cut and copy .....place in a folder and done.... I have every single picture I have EVER taken since I owned a camera phone in 2007 but thats besides the point,,,I backup up my data via TWRP and I noticed that it created a 10GB partition. I am ok with it cause I keep a pretty clean phone...I have 10 apps at most and some pictures and videos.
I was wondering in the interest of recuperating that 10GB is there a way to unpartition it? my back up is 2.67 GB large and as you guessed it, I saved it on my PC....so I could do with out it on my phone. BY the way I didn't do a system or data wipe when I installed the ROM...flash and dalvik and cache wipe....I figured if I screwed up, I could do a FULL FORMAT and copy paste the files I wanted. But the update worked flawlessly ..except for the 10GB "missing"....
This is not an emergency, I can live without the 10GB I was just curious.........I have 54GB out of which I am only using 9GB...plenty left

What do you mean when you say it created a 10gb partition? TWRP doesn't create a partition when it makes a backup so I'm confused as to what you mean by that.

There is no 10GB partition. When a device says that there is 64 GB of storage, a bit of it is lost in formatting. It does not mean that when you plug in your phone you will get 64GB of storage. Additionally, there are several partitions, including data and system that are not visible to the user without root (or in recovery). These partitions also take up space on your phone (adding up to around 10GB of lost space), and are not visible when you plug in your phone. This is why your phone only shows 54 out of 64GB in the storage menu in settings, mine does as well. If you did have a 10GB partition on your phone, your phone would show 44GB when plugged in. I believe you can make the system partitions smaller, but its not recommended. This is simply off my memory so if I misunderstood the question or said anything wrong please be welcome to correct me.

I figured it was a 10GB partition because I was 10GB short (64GB out of the box vs 54GB) what I have, even though I now that OS and apps take up space. So what is the actual partition size that is created when TWRP creates a back up? The size of said back up? ....my mistake...
your explanation cleared it up. If I remove the back up from my phone will I recover that HDD space? or is it already saved for future back ups?

Your backups are created on the visible portion of the data partition, in a folder called TWRP. No partition is created during a backup. You will not gain more than the available space on your phone by deleting the backup.

TWRP doesn't create a partition, it simply creates a folder in your internal storage to place your backups in. That folder will only ever be the size of your backup(s). The moment you delete/move a backup you have that space free again, they're just like any other file that consumes space on a drive (it only consumes space while it's actually there).

URGENT HELP needed - Oneplus 6 lost access to internal storage

I will try to make it short. While trying to install edxposed, I messed up. It went into startloop. Then I flashed the custom ROM, twrp, base rom, formatted internal storage etc. But now I lost the access to internal storage.
So, current scenario is
1. TWRP can access internal sdcard. It's not even showing any encrypted folders, only 2 folders showing - TWRP & Obb
2. Google play can install apps, but no apps can write anything to internal storage I.e. Camera cannot save Photos, cannot save screenshot, Chrome cannot download anything etc.
3. Settings app showing 0b/0b. Es explorer showing 100% filled. Storage showing 12gb used of 56gb.
4. PC can see my phone storage but cannot paste anything in it.
So it seems to me that somehow my internal storage has become RO or something. So if anyone can help me solve this problem, I will be highly grateful. TIA
UPDATE:
problem not solved yet, but what I found is, the main problem is the root directory for the internal storage has changed somehow. By default, it resides in root/storage/emulated/0, but now it has changed to root/storage/emulated, so the apps cannot access it. Now how can I turn it back to default?

It sounds like to me you have corrupted your internal SD card you will have to format SD card instead of normal wipe and then reflash rom via Computer

I have formatted it already. And what's the difference between flashing a ROM via computer & via USB?

Wipe vs format. Wipe is just removing files from partition without destroying the partition. Format is rebuilding the partition fresh. You did not format phone because that would fix this problem. Format data partition and this will be fixed.

I also had the same issue so i flashed stock through pc. Now its fine. Only issue is on Twrp data shows encrypted, i think i have to flash dm verity zip to decrypt it
