You are tapping it several times correct? I just tried it and it seems to work..
But I am on stock Rom. Are you using custom Rom or stock Rom? If using custom Rom, it might be a bug....
I need to stop hitting thanks button instead of reply [emoji1]

New Owner with Batch #1008 Questions

Hey all. I just bought a used (but in great condition) captivate off of ebay. Unfortunately it is of the #1008 batch.
I did test the 3 button and 2 button + usb modes and they both work.
Does this mean I will be fine putting a new rom on, or will this #1008 problem present itself somewhere down the road?
Last time I put an alternate ROM on a phone was way back on a Tmobile SDA, and hopefully it will be soon when I do my next one
Thanks

Well if they are working then that's good..I suggest that if you are going to try a custom ROM you try the COG versions as it has the three button fix built in and should be the safest one to use...Just read and understand before you try any custom ROM and you should be fine...

hmm... i ahev batch 1009 and i have perfectly working 3button mode
If it works, it works. Maybe not all from that batch have the problem. Doesn't mean it is totally unbrickable. You can still break the three button on any batch phone. But now we also have the hardware jig option so you're pretty well covered either easy. Go flash!

Then you are probably fine.
Just to be sure don't revert to JF6 stock without the 3 button fix

Alright, thanks guys. Your advice helps a lot. Another question though about reverting.
After I flash to a new rom, for what reason would I might revert?

It gets old, there are problems with that rom, newer better roms came out that you want to try, or you just want to go to stock. etc

So if I ever want to change to a new ROM in the future, I will need to go back to stock before I do that?

It's generally a good idea to revert to stock and wipe your data between ROMs in order to assure one install doesn't interfere with another.

Inspire 4G and the cyanogenmod (questions)

Im new to the android community and phones. I bought an Inspire with gingerbread (2.3.3) and would like to add cyanogenmod to it but the tutorials look so "harmfull" they scare me away so i have some question.
Can i downgrade from 2.3 to android v1?
Have anyone here rooted and flashed the same phone I have?
What is "radio? Can I change it to another one? how can I tell if it will work with my carrier?
please, please, please. READ
these questions you are asking concern me
1. you dont downgrade to v1....because it doesnt exist
2. we all have the same phone as you, otherwise we wouldnt have an inspire section
3. there is an entire thread dedicated to this very subject....look in the dev section.
there are easy to follow guides, tutorials, and walkthroughs here, but you have to READ...there is ZERO excuse for not reading and comprehending this stuff. if it is too much for you, you should NOT be doing any of it, and leave your phone stock
This is why I said..im NEW with this... none of what you helped in some way.

then you have some READING to do. nobody here is going to hold your hand.
ALL the information you seek is already here, but you have to READ
Sorry if all you want is someone to hold your hand and spoonfeed information to you
NEW or not, it doesnt matter. I was NEW to this phone when i got it. I READ, the same way i have done with all my other phones. I READ to understand what i am doing and how to do it.
heres the first thing you should have read when you came to the inspire boards:

its a sticky for a reason
Thanks for the link. Wil this tool The Ace Hack Kit work with 2.3.3 version? for rooting pourposes i mean?

this question has come up several times in the last month. yes it works just fine
Hi, i just rotted the unit and everything was fine
So i decided to use, cyanogenmod, it installed
now i can make calls but it does not connect to the data network portion.
Any ideas?
I noticed the radio baseband is slighly different than the original. could it be?
Sorry. was quick. i entered the APN settings and it is now connecting.. just Edge....before (stock rom) i had "H" (guessing is 3G). Now it only connects to E (edge i assume).
The weird thing is that before whenever i was in an area with only edge It would not allow me to browse but now I can.
any idea jedi master?
you can try a different radio. look at the radio thread in the dev section
Sorry to bother you so much. I was able to solve the radio issue. Now, since the market app wasn't included i followed the guide on how to install gapps but after doing so i can't get pass the boot screen "touch the android to begin".
I try to wipe and reflash but still does not let me do it. Any ideas?
did you touch the android to begin?
Yes, sir. But it will still restart.
i try to wipe data and restart the process but same thing happens.
Tried taping the four corners and an still happening.
Someone said the the gapps file might be corrupted.
Right now cyanogenmod is a pain. is there a way to install another room or the stock one through recovery?
Thanks for all your help!

you can install any rom you like in recovery.
boot into recovery
go to mounts and storage
mount usb storage
on your computer, copy the rom zip onto the phone
back,
install zip file from sdcard
browse to rom zip
confirm flash

No WiFi after root

Apologies if this has already been asked, I've searched and can't find any information.
Basically, I unlocked the bootloader yesterday using the official Sony method on their website, then flashed the "External Stock Kernel V3" by TaoShan. Everything is working perfectly, except the wifi which is greyed out and won't allow me to turn it on.
The only thing I've come across in relation to this issue, is a petition for Sony to make the WiFi code available for Dev's, but nothing else.
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue, is it an issue, or have I used the wrong kernel?
It's not a massive issue, as I have unlimited mobile data but occassionally I visit places where I only get a rubbish 2G signal, and WiFi comes in handy in those instances!
Thanks!
Flash modules and it will work. Here is the link: http://d-h.st/uFh

The link you posted seems to be dead
I did find another by searching the forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2322726, I found a zip file called modules there, having downloaded it though, I have absolutley no idea what to do with it! I'll have a read though, as I'm sure the answer lies somewhere.
When I rooted my Huawei G300 and put CM10 on it, it was all very straight forward, I'm certainly learning things with the Xperia!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

That's fixed it! It's confusing with the amount of different modules there are for the phone, I must have been using the wrong ones.

Q&A for [Rom][CandyKat][OFFICIAL][s4][4.4.4][hboot 2.15/2.16]v1.6.1
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

HI, installed 1.6.0 on hboot 2.16 and have been using it for a number of days. Occasionally (about every third time) the screen in my dialer goes black and won't wake up. This means I can't hang up the phone or use the dialpad without hard-rebooting. If the other person ends the call, it's fine but if I am leaving a message or something I need to reboot.
I think it might a proximity sensor issue.

I have a similar issue, even on stock, was the reason I rooted my phone in the first place. I use Rezound Proximity Sensor Calibration app from the play store and it solves the problem perfectly.

Candy center OTA not working
I'm on 1.6.1 and the candy center says I'm on current version. Would really prefer an OTA update to a complete wipe and rom install... Any solution for this?
Unable to install zip
Hi, im new to the forum and wondered if anyone can help. Im trying to flash my one s with the newest candykat and keep getting an install error "E: Error executing updater binary in zip 'internal_sd/candykat-ville-215-4.4.4.release...."
My device has s-off and im using twrp 2.7.0, hboot 2.15 and haven't usually had any probs like this before in the past (though it has been around 8 months since i last changed the ROM, time for something new...).
Ive tried the last two releases of CandyKat with the same error, can anyone shed any light on the problem??
Thanks in advance.

Hi, i want to ask if someone else have a problem with com.android.phone force close, sometimes i just have one in a while, but sometimes I have a lot. Yes i tried other roms but have similar problem, so I'm asking if there is a workaround. I'm using hboot 2.16, I came from liberty max sense 5.5 so I have the radio from that rom. Hboot 2.15 user have the problem too? Or if something to live with kitkat aosp?

I think it's a chrome problem., they seem to be trying to introduce a reading mode. I started using the chrome beta and it doesn't have this behaviour. The only way I can find to switch out of that reading mode is to use the task switcher, change to some other task and then change back to chrome.

You need to enable USB debugging in dev options I think, then select mass storage when you plug in the usb cable. Should work fine. As a last resort you could boot to recovery and mount the sd card from TWRP, pc should see it then no problem.
Why KandyKat vers, 1.4 or 1.5 not in HTC One S wiki ?
In HTC One S wiki there is a table of all the Official and well supported custom ROMs.
I noticed that KandyKat is not listed in the wiki summary table.
As a suggestion, can you talk to the webMaster to include KandyKat in the wiki table ?
Is candyKat v 1.6.3 specifically designed for HTC one S S4 ?
Is candyKat v 1.6.3 specifically designed for HTC one S S4 ?
I currently have a stock Android 4.1.1 HTC One S S4 with sense 4+
If I was to upgrade my phone to candyKat 4.4.4 to gain new adnroid features (ex. Miracast, better USB/keyboard connectivity, ART application speeding up, etc . . .)
will the day-to-day popular 4.4.1 functions that I have been using for 3 years on my phone, will continue to work as normal and as stable ?
I have S4 Hboot 2.15 S-On, which download link shall I use to get the ROM flash files ?
