So, I just received my Relay in the mail about 3 days ago. It was working great, but yesterday the external speaker stopped working, unless I press on it (but sometimes that doesn't work). I am able to return my phone, should I do so, or is there an easy fix for this problem? Has anyone else experienced this?
Sounds like your speaker is broken. If so it will only get worse the more you use it.
Yeah, I've decided to return it. This is pretty annoying.

Hi,
Up until a few days ago the sound on my fuze was working fine. By sound I mean the speaker which controls the ringtone and video sound. The rest of the phone is working just fine.
I dunno if someone else has had this problem or if maybe it might be some hardware problem. Sometimes after a soft reset the sound comes back but then it goes away, and now its not coming back even after a reset.
Could be a hardware issue. I experienced the same issue. I recently returned my handset(still under thirty day warranty).
Hi all, hopefully someone might have seen this issue or at least know a way around it.
Basically over the last few days I have noticed that when I am on a call my internal speaker tends to drop out and I hear nothing. It does it constantly, drops out for a second or 2 every 5 - 10 seconds.
If I put the speakerphone on it doesn't drop out at all, so I am thinking it isn't a radio/reception issue.
I have no idea about bluetooth as I don't use it, but I can tell you the wired headset that comes with the phone is fine also.
This problem occurs regardless of which ROM I have installed as I have tested over a few different ROMs.
Any ideas ?
Cheers.
Sounds like an internal hardware problem. I had that speaker go out on a Blackjack 2 and replacing the speaker fixed the problem.
I was thinking the same thing, but obviously I am hoping it isn't. Too lazy to be dealing with hardware issues and sending it away for repairs etc etc.
I have the same problem. I replaced the speaker, I used the phone for 1 day and after that the problem appeared again. I dont know from where the problem is appearing. Maybe some one from here have any idea.
Where did you get hold of a replacement speaker?
speaker problem
I have the same speaker problem. Seems like it happened after I updated to the newest rom. Anyone else notice this?
Same here
I have the same issue. I sent the phone back for repair but they refused due to the rom change.
their OFFICIAL line was that 'due to changing the software on the phone you have used a rom image that has 'OVER POWERED' the speaker and damaged it'.
if you replace the speaker it will happen again.
what you all need to do is clarify which rom was install when the fault occured. Unfortunatley i can't help with that as i have tried several roms since to try and fix the problem hoping it was software.
hope this helps.
Hello everyone!
My external speaker suddenly stopped working. So now I cant go handsfree, I dont hear rings of incoming phones, or any sound that comes thru the external speaker.
Funnily the vibration during incoming calls doesnt come either. But it still vibrates while navigating thru menus.
I think a hardware reset might do the trick, but I cant tell before tomorrow, since I need to backup my files first.
Or is there a known bug with latest mango or a htc specific bug?
Okay vibration seems to work as it should, maybe I didnt feel it the first time I tested it.
Just now I had a moment where I heard menu sounds and then I quickly tried to play a ringtone which also came thrru the speakers but as you can guess, it stopped working again...
more update after the hardware reset tomorrow
It may just be the speaker blown out like mine did only 5 weeks after purchase. Not a big deal, the speaker is the same one as HTC EVO so a replacement part is easy to do yourself or through the Phone Carrier store (that has a repair center).
Since replacement mine has been fine since. When it was blown, it still worked, but was painful to listen to.
Ok thx. I will do that. I hoped it was some software error.
Taking my Arrive in today for the same thing. It just blew a few days ago, and any sound coming out of the external speaker just sounds distorted and garbled.
Any suggestions as to why speakerphone wouldn't be working? Or just return it and get a 3rd replacement? Having such bad luck with this phone for some odd reason. I want to like this device and I do but having to replace it for a 3rd time is starting to make me have second thoughts about keeping this device.
Reboot, check your sound settings, turn up the volume, play some music, call a friend. Still not work? I'd return that one as well. Your whole batch at AT&T may be bad.
has to be a bad phone my speakerphone is great
Don't get me wrong the Speaker is Great with Music just No one can hear me when I throw the phone onto speaker phone. Looks like I got another phone to return.
Had the same problem with my wife's atrix. Speaker just stopped working. Went to AT&T and they replaced phone with new one.
This happened to me too, the speakerphone use to work fine then a couple days ago no one can hear me at all. So annoying.
The earpiece stopped working the other day out of nowhere... I have not dropped the phone, or gotten it wet at all (not that it should matter!) but it no longer plays sound out of the earpiece... Anyone else experiencing this issue? It makes it extremely difficult to be on the phone since I usually talk with the phone to my ear. I have made sure that the call volume was all the way up, so it doesn't seem like a volume issue either.
Any troubleshooting advice, other than making calls and seeing if it starts working?
Same problem with earpiece not working
Did you find a solution to this problem. I've just purchased the S7 and have discovered earpiece not working. Speaker works but not the earpiece nor headphone jack. Probably going to return under warranty but would be helpful if a known solution!
Hi,
did you find out what to do or is it just to send it to a technician?
mine is three days old and doesn't work from day one ...
Sorry for delay. No I didnt find a solution. I took it back to Samsung and they exchanged the handset under warranty. Goodluck.
