So apparently after using cm11 for a while, my flashmode/fastboot mode is not working, nothing.
I remembered that it installed a qualcomm driver of some sort before dying. my phone can operate fine. i can still access fastboot mode via cwm/reboot to bootloader
but i just can't access flashmode no matter what I've tried, and offline charging is not working too
before somebody asking this
I have the correct drivers, flashmode and fastboot works just fine before fxp325. vol down or vol up while plugging gives no led or sign of it connected. i can still transfer files and charge normally when the phone is powered on
So yeah, what's the problem?

And also, relock and unlocked it, all mode works fine now, for some reason
Happened to me when I accidentally formatted the boot on CWM. I reflashed the whole rom and remove the battery for about 10min and suddenly flashmode/fastboot works

It's possible that your pressing the volume down key and power, or maybe the key is just broken/stuck.
Anyway that would cause a boot into download mode.

there is no download mode on nexus devices, its fastboot/bootloader.
u may be right about a stuck key
Or your chip is fried, like mine and many other people's
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I doubt if its a stuck key. Guess it might be the chip being fried
Any chance messing around with the bootloader could fix this? I dunno updating it or something like that
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
does anyone have any info about what chip might be the issue? i did update my bootloader and that did not fix the problem.

My guess is a power capacitor, seeing as it needs to be plugged in to boot. But your phone still works otherwise? crazy.
Ok. So you have rooted your phone? if not. do it. This works. try it. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672708
Chances are you should update your drivers also. do this before anything. - http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
- Back up everything you need. wipe everything. START FRESH.
If you still have the same issue, youll know its hardware and not software.
i'm not sure what happened, but today my phone just turned off and now wont boot. everything on the phone is stock (ICS update) and i have no never messed with flashing any roms. what happens is the phone turns on, gets to the start screen, then crashes. after crashing it will vibrate continuously until i remove the battery. i have tried to enter recovery and download mode but the phone just crashes and i never see the screens..what can i do?
Buy a USB jig. Might work, its a pain to enter recovery/download .

thanks, i wasn't sure what this was, but after a bit of Google searching it seems something ill definitely try. everything seems to say that the phone should be completely powered down to use the jig though. will it be a problem that i dont seem to be able to get my phone to that point? the second i put my battery in the phone attempts to turn on, and after it crashes it will just vibrate non stop.

You can boot into recovery but it is annoying. If you have adb installed you can write:
Adb reboot download or adb reboot recovery really fast.
If not a jig may be the only option.

Okay that's nice to know... To enter download mode your phone has to be connected to your pc via usb cable, to enter download mode what you do Is hold the power button, volume up, and volume down button while the phone is off, once it powers on and you see the Samsung logo release the power button but continue holding the volume up, and volume down buttons this will put the device in download mode, have you ever used Odin before?

Now you can do only one if your binary counter is 0 then definitely give it in the service center.....
press thanks if I helped. ......
Well i think you should resort with a usb jig if else fails. If that doesn't work service centre is the answer. Using usb jig will get yourphone into download mode. So you can flash stock kernel and rom through odin.
I got my phone bricked the same way @op did. It's in service center now.

Remove the battery.
Connect the USB to the phone.
Then try to boot in download mode..
If successful then insert the battery without removing the USB .
And then flash the stock kernel or stock ROM as per ur choice.

Hello, this is my first publication...
A few days ago I made the update of my terminal, from version 6.0.1 and I can not flash version 7 from flashtool, everything worked fine, after flashing the computer was up to version 7.1.1, after a few days observe Which at the time of downloading and connecting the computer started with constant restarts or bootloops, until you can turn it on, also the computer occasionally has problems with the speaker, plus flash failure does not turn on ...
All this happened after flashing it
I can not enter the flash mode, pressing the volume button -, the phone turns on the green light and turns off and on again and is not detected by the computer, I would greatly appreciate the help!
Please
- do a hard power off: VOL+ and Off
- do a factory reset
- plug the USB cable to another port
- reinstall USB drivers
- try another cable
- try another PC

I do it several times, and still nothing

It is restored by the sony configuration and neither does the equipment works normal except for the LED flash of the camera, and sometimes the problem of the mentioned speakers
In addition to proving in 3 different computers, with two different cables in addition, installing the drivers and everything, I do not know what else to do, when I connect the phone with fastboot is recognized, or through trasnferencia, there is no problem with that, only the flashmode .
I have the same problem with my XZ but found a workaround. When prompted to turn of your phone and plug it in flash mode reboot the phone instead. When the screen goes black hold the volume down, when the phone turns back on it will go into flash mode. Works for me every time.

Strange enough I reproduce this "flashing green-led" flashmode issue today, but it was the USB cable problem (type c -> type c).
The cable in question can access mtp mode and fastboot mode normally thou.
It is likely not the same issue like yours, but still very strange.

I have the same problem.
I've found that my phone does not enter flash mode at the first Led flash, so plug the cable while hoding volume up (fastboot mode), if the led just flashing blue then I hold volume down to get into flash mode. else if it connected in fastboot mode then i just unplug it and do again.
Thanks for the tip! Works well with my Xperia XZ + Lenovo T460 + Aukey USB cable combo.
Had a headache with phone not entering the flash mode. Flashtool said it's connected in recovery mode, usb debugging off. Perhaps sth to do with trying to update the TWRP to the latest version (3.2.2) via the PlayStore app and turning the recovery non-functional. I wanted to update to the latest FW before reflashing TWRP in fastboot mode.
