[Q] multirom Nexus 5 4.4.4 CM 11 Kernel - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi All, i have a Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 rooted and multirom v26.
I have tried changing the kernel to the CM 11 (4.4.3 - 4.4.4) and only get a black screen on boot! If i am connected to usb my PC gets the extra drive.
I have tried about three times! i have tried rooting with the Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.4 and manually rooting both with the same results.
Any ideas?
If this a known problem, am i doing something wrong?
Should i use a different kernel, if so which one?
Dave

[Completed] [Q] Nexus 7 2013 lte won't update to lollipop

Nexus 7, rooted, has multirom installed

The problem:
When the update to 5.0.2 came out OTA and appeared in my notifications, I downloaded it and tried to install it. The 5.0.2 update won't install on my Nexus 7.
Possible reasons for the failure:
A) Google pushed to wrong update to my device (unlikely)
B) Multirom is interfering. I suspect multirom is the culprit because I have another device, a phone with multirom on it, that wouldn't update. After uninstalling multirom, it updated.
C) The fact that my Nexus 7 is rooted is causing the update to fail.
My first attempt at fixing the problem was to uninstall multirom. Couldn't make it uninstall. I have downloaded the uninstaller from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457063 and it didn't work. I looked elsewhere and found another uninstaller, which also didn't work. Flashing from TWRP recovery, or using flashify, never succeeds even after many tries.
If would like to remove multirom from my Nexus 7 but at this point would need expert guidance to have any chance of success.
I am willing to flash my device back to stock, if that is the only way. I have the wugfresh toolkit on my computer but I am enough of a noob that I'm kind of afraid something will go wrong. Will going back to stock fix my problem? I just want the update to Lollipop.
Based on expert opinion, what is the next step in troubleshooting/fixing this problem?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. The best idea for you right now is to flash the device back to stock. I'd advise against using a toolkit though, there's a good guide here:

Install CM11 from stock 5.0.2

I want to ask if there is any problem (flicker screen, red notification on booting up...) when I install CM11 from stock 5.0.2 on Falcon Moto G XT1032? (follow this official guide on CyanogenMod: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_falcon)
Thank you.
I've done this recently and the only issue I've noticed is the screen flickering problem. The solution is to simply press the power button to lock the screen then unlock it and it should be fixed. You only have to do this once but if you reboot your phone you will have to lock/unlock again on first boot.
Thank you for your answer. Just to be sure, did you follow CM guide? Is there anything important which I should be careful about? (I did the same thing with several phones but still noob)
I just booted into custom recovery (I use Philz) and wiped the different partitions along with /cache and /dalvik. You can follow the guide and use the push method or you can use sideload which I did.
I did that and now i have problems with the mac address (i was using 5.1.1) my shows me a different mac and i don't know how fix it, but if i back to LP the problem is solved.
It's a bootloader issue for sure and general happen because you're bootloader is updated to Lolipop 5.0.2 and now you install kitkat as cm 11 over Lolipop.
In simple words your bootloader is new while the software is old
screen flickering issue can be resolved by downgrade bootloader but "BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS" failed to upgrade bootloader make your device permanently dead and downgrading is not recommended....
I will recommend try cm12.1 it's rock solid stable as cm11
I finished installed CM 11, firstly the prob is screen flickering. Then after installing all my apps, the android.com.systemui was crashed over and over and cannot use anymore. I reflashed CM and gapps and reinstalled apps but it happened again. Finally, I had to returned to Lollipop.
Anyway, thank you all for your help
Same thing happened to me unfortunately but I've found this one here and it is working beautifully. Try it and see if it works for you without the constant systemui errors.
Thank you. At the moment i am quite happy with GPE version. It seems that this version GPE 5.1.1 is better than Moto stock one.

How to root on osx after ASOP 5.1 flash (Alberto97)

I unlocked the bootloader, rooted 4.4.4, installed team win recovery. Flashed Alberto97's latest ASOP ROM 5.1.
I can't figure out how to reroot the phone chainfires supersu doesn't work.
When the phone boots it still has Motorola's nasty white screen and message.
When the phone boots for the first 5 or so minutes you can see a single scan line going up the screen. Doesn't really matter just didn't know of there was a fix.
Forgot to add it's an 8gig bought from Boost Mobile.
Thanks in advance.
Got it rooted.
How do I fix the other two issues?

Trouble Downgrading to KitKat

Hi there.
I've recently dug up my Nexus 5 and wanted to downgrade it to KitKat for nostalgia.
However I couldn't get it to work. Always stayed at the Google-Logo and then Restarted.
So in order to unbrick it I installed TWRP and flashed Lineage 17.1 which worked. (Lineage 17.1 is currently the only Rom I got to work actually)
Now my end goal would be to install a KitKat Version of CyanogenMod but when flashing that it doesn't boot again. (Same as with the Factory Image)
Long story short: What am I missing here/How can I downgrade to CM11? I feel like the answer is simple but I just can't figure it out.
Thanks in advance
