Hi,
I wonder whether the internal storage (/sdcard) will get encrypted as well or not when I encrypt my device.
Does anybody know that?

it notifies the NSA you have something to hide. It uploads everything to their servers. that's why it takes more battery power

After I boot up the phone I have the "Damaged phone storage" error. Now it is asking me to format SDcard. Tried accessing via TWRP but it is not mounted and cannot mount.

Looked into the freezer attack for you, since its the only thing I heard of regarding recovering encrypted disks, but I think the phone needs too be on and decrypted while cooling down to 5℉.
Sorry man! Hope it wasn't anything too important on there!

I think the problem there is that the file system is encrypted, so I'm not sure the data recovery program would find anything but what looks like gibberish on the virtual disk.
But someone with more technological finesse than might know a way around that.

This is correct.
Op could always send it to a data recovery specialist if he's filthy rich and the files mean that much to him.

Hi, quick question here.
I have my external Sdcard encrypted and I think I'll need to root and probably install a custom ROM. Question is (or are):
For ONLY rooting: Do I need to decrypt the sdcard? Can I re-encrypt it afterward?
Do custom ROM's in general support SD card encryption? (I suppose so, but wanted to ask)
Thanks!

Thank you! Though I think that thread talks about full phone encryption, which although sounds like the same thing it actually isn't. When you have the phone itself encrypted, the OS needs to have the key before booting up fully or else it will not be able to start up correctly. With the SD card this isn't the case and can be encrypted by code at the user-level, post-boot. At least that's how I understand it.

I read a couple of threads somewhere where they were talking about getting adaptive storage on emui. Can't recall the devices or the methods but users reported success there. Will look for them and share the thread.

It seems a complicated process with a lot of ifs involved but found the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-4x/help/huawei-honor-4x-che2-l11-app2sd-link2sd-t3465942/page1
It refers to another thread to actually figure out what to do. Don't own a 5x to give it a shot, may be someone can try this method.

This application is what you need https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apps2sd-partition-sd-card-link-apps-to-t3122919. It allows you to link apps to your sd card ext4 partition. You have to re-partition your sdcard to two partitions. First as a normal FAT32 partition and other one as a EXT4 partition.

You can but I think I have read somewhere some of them might stop working. You have to test your self what works. Also if you want more memory, installing google keyboard and deleting huawei swipe keyboard will give some extra space.

Well cheap class 10 sd card was easily enough for apps2sd linking. Haven't tested with adoptable storage but I believe it will work without any problem.
So well my phones international storage is nearly full. And I have changed the default download location to my sd card but it's still downloading everything to the international storage. Any idea of how to fix it?

From which app you download files? Maybe isn't possible to specify a custom download folder on that app other than internal storage?
