[Q] How to fix battery problems with Omnirom on P5100 - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear community,
after I have done a clean install of the latest Omnirom nightly (omni-4.4.4-20140709-p5100-NIGHTLY) on my P5100 I'm facing serious battery problems. With my standard Samsung stock ROM (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) I had several days of usage when browsing the internet when only WiFi was enabled. Since I'm using the new custom ROM the device is empty after 5-6 hours. Also, If I switch of the device completely, I cannot turn it on again the next day because the battery power is indicated with 1% left.
Do you have an advice how to solve this issue? Else I will revert to the last stock ROM again.
Many thanks in advance.

How I can do this? Is therefore a separate App needed?
Gesendet von unterwegs...

As I saw in other CM11 threads this is a general problem on the P5100.
Is there already a new ROM with the battery fix available?

[Q] Galaxy apollo (I5801) Seriously battery problem

Hi everyone,
I know that there are a lot of threads about battery problems with g3 (apollo)
But i got a really big battery issue, when my phone is fully charged and I use it, it says it's empty after 10 minutes! and than falls off right after,
Really 10 minutes.. i'm only using 1 thing at a time ( music or twitter etc) and have done everything to try increas the life ( battery performances apps in market, screen on low, power save mode etc,) but nothing works, still 10 minutes. sometimes even 5 and if i'm lucky 15 minutes
Someone got the same problem or knows how to fix it>
Í have a Samsung galaxy GT-I5801 vodafone
I'm using Custom ROM kyrillos (beta 7.5) and G3MOD (v. 2.0 B2)
PS. I'm a n00b with mobile stuff so please do not post to complicated stuff,

Did you already tried a battery calibration (with an app battery calibration from the marked)?
Sometimes the battery stats are wrong after flashing a new rom so I recommend to calibrate your battery so this problem will probably be solved

Most likely a problem with the kernel i think. Try flashing another kernel such as fugumod. Search on the development forum for it.

Thanks for the info, I'll try a battery calibration and if that doesn't work i'll flash another kernel. Thanks again!
I have the same problem.
How do i calibrate the battery ?
If i do that, and i don't see any update.I should do this thing with the Kernel ? What should i do ? What kernel should i put ?
I have Kyrillos13 Version 7.1 in my phone.
What to do ? I am desperate!

Relax and flash a stock kernel. There was a new update called xxjpu. Search it in the forum and flash it. It should make your battery better as the battery drivers are untouched. Also if you want to flash a custom rom don't use an oc version, use a non oc version (non overclocked)

OC means Overclockable non-OC means ofcourse non overclockable
Whit an OC kernel you can overclock your G3 with SetCPU so your G3 will be faster

Ask all you like. Overclocking uses more battery because the cpu needs to work faster. Non overcloked phones use less battery because they use less cpu power.

If you wanna learn the basics of flashing, rooting ect. I recommend the roll-up thread in the development section, all the info to start experimenting with android an G3 is there
I dnt believe our battery can drain out with in 10 mins, even if it is miscalibrated.
I believe Ur battery got corrupted.. U need to replave it with a new one.
PS: I had the exact same problem & fixed that by replacing the battery with a new one..
Some symptoms for corrupt battery:
1)battery drains even it is on charging
2) battery drains like hell with CPU sucking manipulation but at stand by , it goes good
3)almost 1year from purchasing

For this your phone must be rooted
you just have to install the app battery calibration form the market and follow the instructions
I have put , the stock JPQ .
I will how it will go for today, and if i don't see anything better.
Then i will wait the new release of the Kyrillos13 v8.0 and flash it again, and then i will install the app calibration tool
I will keep you inform guyz, thank you!

If the extreme battery drain problem still occurs on the stock rom with the stock kernel the problem is probably related to the battery itself
so I hope for you that it's just a problem with the kernel or some rom related problem
I hope the best for you
I have tested the JPQ,for almost 3 hours with Wi-fi , GPS,handwriting in sms,few calls,and downloading all the time with market.And from the 65 % went to 45 % only 20 % , drop down.
If i would do that with the Kyrillos13 V.7.1 in the first few minutes the battery would die.Simple as that.
Now i am flashing to the newer stock version JPU.I will inform you
Edit Post : 21:50
---------------------
The phone , has been flashed, but it kept my apps from the previous version i don't know why.So, i made factory reset and pass it again, and now i am working on the JPU,as i can see everything are running smooth, the battery i can see until now it's ok.
So ... more information after some hours.

As it now stands, I think it was just a problem of the kernel.
Otherwise when you tested the stock jpq, your battery would be empty before your phone was fully booted since a stock rom has no buildprob tweaks etc. like the Kyrillos 7.1 where you got that enormous battery drain
But a battery can loses his full capacities after a year so a faster drain than when you purchased the phone is obvious of course
so I really hop the best for your phone

Yeah , thank you mate.
I have the 7.5 OC beta , now . I will do the calibration battery and i will use the phone.
After i will use the 8.0 when it comes out,and if i see that i am not sutisfied of the battery,i will return into the old stock firmware once and for all.
After that i will buy via ebay a newer battery with much larger mah, and it will be just fine i think.

CM10 battery life problem

I recently flashed Dhiru's CM10 ROM on my galaxy sl and I was experiencing battery life problems(too low). I researched and found out that I had to wait for a few battery cycles. Unfortunately that hasn't worked out for me and the problem continues. Is there any solution to this??
Thanks for the help

There's nothing wrong with the ROM or kernel. My ROM is AOSP, so it not booting up has to do with your phone. If you look at the thread, no one else is having a boot up problem but you, so please don't blame the ROM right away. You gave it 2 minutes to boot up after flashing a new kernel and then gave up on it.
You asked for help about the ROM and I'm trying to give it to you, but it seems you're just looking for a way out of NGA.
Like I said, nothing to do with the ROM, I'm running it right now with the same kernel as you, perfectly.

Looking of custom recovery with fix of WIFI and drain battery

Hello everyone, i don't know if someone made the same question but I would like to ask if there is any available custom rom of nexus 5 which has lollipop 5.0.1 (Vanilla Android - stock rom) and has a fix of the wifi issue (delay to connect on wifi networks and which also freeze the device) and a fix of drain battery.

nexus 5 have issues on wifi and battery drain. The wifi issue that i found on the stock rom are:
1. Delay to connect on the available wifi networks and also show the list of the wifi networks
2. if you disable the wifi and try to enable it again it freeze the device
about the battery if my device is fully charged it battery goes only half of the day, where with the same usage on kitkat was almost full day

I don't have such issues with Wi-Fi and don't recall anybody else having issues either.
There is no battery drain. Your issues are elsewhere, not to do with Lollipop itself.
There is no 5.0.2 factory images, yeah, but it was pushed to AOSP and subsequently, 5.0.2 ROMs have been built.

Moto G xt1540 Heating and battery drain. Possible software cause.

Hello friends, thanks for taking the time for reading this.
I recently bought a Moto G3 second hand and had previously installed Lineage OS. And I have been having heating and fast battery drainage issues and i would like to know if reverting to stock can help me with that before sending it to repair.
I have three questions. How can I know that i have stock kernel? and if not, where can I find it so I can flash it?
And, if I flash the factory image, I can leave twrp untouched or i must flash custom recovery?
Thanks again.
Edit: Could it be that it has stock Gapps Package? Just trying to find the origin of the problem.

Install offitial lineage os with nano or pico gapps. Origin can be you are running extra apps if using larger gapps or some app may be causing issue which can be located in battery section which app using more batty or cpu in background

Hey, thanks for answering.
While I was waiting for an answer, I've tried: 1) clean install lineage with the smallest gapps package possible. 2) Trying Greenify and Coolify apps. 3) Installing a custom kernel and tweaking it with Audiutor. None of these have helped at all.
When is Idle the phone temperature range is between 35-39 C and with use is between 40-44 C. The battery last 10 hours or less if I dont use it at all, 6-8 hours depend on usage. The apps that get the most battery are Screen, Android os and play services.
My questions are: 1) Those temperatures/battery time are normal for this device or are they a common malfunction in hardware? (Maybe like S4 mini and Nexus 5x with emmc) 2) There's a chance that with the stock firmware I can get better battery time and less heat? (I've seen reviews that this model could get to the 2 days without charge, don't know if that's true).
I have had either a Nexus 5x and a Moto G1 and they never felt so hot when in use. I don't wanna send it to repair just yet because in my country there aren't official motorola stores and I don't want them opening the screen and ruining the water resistance unless that's the last resort.
Sorry for the wall of text. Thanks in advance.
Hey, I also face the same issues with some custom ROMs . iam using moto g3 2gb ram. I also flashed lineage OS 14. I also had the battery heating problem . but for others they have no issues. I almost flashed all nougat ROMs . I face this issue with some other ROMs too. I always do clean flash, with small gapps. I can't use some best ROMs out there as my daily driver because of this battery issue. Please help
Do you face the same issue with the stock ROM? Which ROMs have you tried? The heating is only in the battery or CPU as well? How much does your battery lasts?
I never tied stock . Iam using AICP ROM now it has no such problems. I had issues with aosp extended and dot os and some Oreo roms too. As u said I am also having 2 to 3 hours more battery drain
Should I try AICP? How much does it solve that problem? I think I've made a makeshift solution with kernel adiutor and lineage stock kernel disabling a core and under locking a bit the others and with a couple of powersaving governor's it doesn't heat as much and the performance it's not too unbearable, but the battery drain hasn't improved as much.
If anyone could shed some light on what could be happening I would be truly grateful.
Yes do try AICP, viperOS or RR works well for me and are stable .. I also tried custom kernel with lineageOS. But didn't solve battery draining . I don't understand why it happens to only some rom.

Ok, I've tried and I'm updating.
RR doesn't make my phone heat less and the battery keeps draining also AOSP 8.0. Seems like my problem isn't software related. I've yet to try the stock ROM so I can know for sure.
Thanks for the suggestion mate.
Bro then there might me some other issues that is not related with custom ROMs . Do check flashing stock ROM with out root, and I hope someone more experienced might help you
