Hi,
on Motorola international forums I've read a lot of users complaining about 3G signal drops and then display 'no sim' icons on Moto G dual sim (XT1033).
Is this true (i.e. a very bad unresolved bug) ore they have a bad-lucky smartphone?
Thanks.

Hi there
I recently bought an Alcatel 991d and replaced it a couple of times due to signal loss and sim freezing (no internet, sms, and calls on either the sims). I passed to a Samsung Y duos which is more stable although it seems to still have some signal problem (when this signals is lost it does not come back although a good coverage area is reached, 3g icon disappear and no internet surfing is allowed, sims freezing (rare). With the Alcatel other people experiences serious problems expecially under poor coverage areas and hypothesized the problem could be related to the continuous jumping from 3g to 2g cells. Actually my Samsung y duos goes nice and smooth when I only use the 2g network. Do you think that countinous jumping form 3g to 2g can cause problem to android smartphone in general? Can you think to a solution for this?
thanks a lot!
my friend have similar problems on Gigabyte dual sim phone (I forget model name). didn't found solution yet
I'm coming previous phones a Moto X and HTC One X. Both could hang on to 3g when I'm in my basement NP. Since day 1 with my g3 I continually go to unlock my phone and the voice and data network is disconnected. When I'm at work which is in a heavy 4g area I get great signal strength but I still go 5-10% battery drop from the phone searching for network. Can anyone suggests any tweaks to help this?
I noticed a big problem with the radio.
I live in an area where the 3G signal is not very strong, and it happens that the phone changes alone in 2G mode, then return to 3G when the signal is better..
It happens, however, that during these steps 3G-2G or 2G-3G phone loses the line, so that in that passage i'm not contactable if someone phone me, I realize that I get the SMS notification later.
I noticed that the indicator of the phone signal is reset, and I can not even call. As an indication of the lack of signal is about 4-5 sec
Someone said me there is the same problem on Moto G
With other devices like Galaxy S2 and Motorola Defy+, in the same place with the same operator and sim didn't happens...

This is normal, just probably the moto g is trying to connect to a multi-carrier 3G, which takes few seconds. Also switching between 3G and 2G involves dropping the current connection.
My advice in your case would be to switch to 2G entirely.
It isn't normal, aldo Motorola assistance said it…
Sent from my Motorola Moto X XT1052
other people wit this problem??
those days I'm trying with am other carrier(Vodafone) but even in my area has a stronger signal compared with TIM even with this I have noticed the same defect ......
however, during these tests, I may have discovered the cause and also the remedy of this defect, I still do some testing and will let you know

What kind of signal strength are others getting compared to other phones they have owned. When I am in an area that has excellent LTE coverage (as consistently shown on multiple other phones I have owned) I am only getting about one half to 3/4 of the signal I had been getting. I have yet to get a full strength LTE reading on the signal strength indicator. I am also having problems with the signal dropping completely (no service) and then coming back at 3/4 strength? Very flaky.....
My AT&T signal was always terrible. Almost always 1 bar but sometimes two. I preordered a H2O Wireless SIM about a week before I got the Idol 3. My AT&T plan expired the day after I got the phone so I just popped in the new H2O sim into the idol 3. With the H2O sim I get really good signal, sometimes full; bars! The weird part is that H2O uses AT&T towers so I can't explain why I am getting better signal except that it could be the phone. Unfortunately I was unable to compare the same sim card in both phones. Overall signal strength is better for me.

i got the same problem i had a moto G lte had all of the bars then i put in my sim card and now i dont get much signal even at work with the moto i had all of the bars and this one i get like half then dissapears goes back to half then of a sudden all of the bars show im running cricket and as same as you we run on ATT towers
I had to set mine to wcdma/gsm on T-Mobile to get good coverage. It wouldn't pull signal unless it was 5 bars LTE.
Tmobile in SF. Brand new phone less than a week in use, also terrible signal. LTE Discovery shows I'm on band 4. Funny enough I still get calls and txt messages when displays shows not signal at all. This is one thing I hate in reviews, they all mention how fast and great display and audio, but none of them mention call reception. IT'S A FREAKING PHONE!!!
My signal sucks regardless of this being a Band 12 capable phone. I know you should never go by the signal bars, but rather the dBm's/asu, but my signal strength fluctuates constantly and doesn't even show signal at all until a few seconds later as if it "reconnected" to the network and jumps 2 bars. This phone needs a major modem update. I don't think I've ever seen my signal bar icon fully lit even when I'm outside. Maybe I just need a new SIM card.
My network is fine. AT&T/AIRVOICE. SLC, Utah.
I compare my Idol 3 signal to varying Androids i know that are on Tmob, it seems to be par for the course. Often it is half a bar better. It is certainly better than the OPO i sent back.
Hi everyone, today I get my Galaxy S6.
Then I change my SIM card to my new device, the issue is that if I choose LTE/WCDMA/GSM, my S6 only have the less signal and 4G logo, If I choose WCDMA then I Have full signal with 3G, my SIM card was working well in my S4 with 4G before.
Thanks everyone, I Hope you can help me.
Hi
4G always gives much less signal than 3G unless you're very lucky. My LTE/4G gives 1 dot of signal generally, and was the same on previous phones.
Your S4 probably reported the signal bars differently, leading you to believe you had more signal than you had.
I wouldn't worry about it, it's not a fault.
