[Q] CWM tar to img

Edit: Fail... my problem was too OLD of a version of CWM not too new =P flashed to v5 of CWM and running the restore now...
I did a backup for a droid x, and now the person I did it for wants to go back to the restore, when i did the restore it was back when CWM used .tar and now i have a new CWM that wants .img
can someone please link me to a CWM that still uses .tar or tell me how i can convert these .tar into .img for recovery?

i've been searching for 3 hours about flashing kernel but i got nothing
can anyone help me for flashing kernel?
in another flashing kernel thread i saw they packed the kernel on .zip but from sir kurotsugi's thread he packed the kernel on .img
then i tried to replace .img from sir kurotsugi's to another kernel's .img inside the .zip and flash it via cwm but it's not worked.
my device is sgy gt-s5360

I don't have a Y, but i think u should replace the kernel in the boot.img and flash it though a .zip
Looks like that is what he has already done..that mediafire link.
Just rename it, partition ur sdcard and flash, follow the instructions given there.
Ok, wait.
boot.img can be flashed through odin.
If it's been packaged into a .zip then it is mean to be flashed through a custom recovery like CWM.
Ask in the Galaxy Y Q/A...u might not get much help in general q/a here.

[Q] Dumb Question

This might be a repeat, Buttttttttt, Im trying to flash a stock rom onto my gt n8013 and i cant find a .tar or md5 file of a custom rom. I downloaded android revolution which is what i really want to try and it even has md5 in the file name yet it is still a .zip Do i have to just download the stock rom....?
Im stuck in a boot loop and i have no sd card at the moment hence the use of odin, plus i never used it before and wanted to give er a shot. :good:

[Q] [q] centura custom cwm

hi im have a small fairly simple problem..I have a Galaxy Centura SCH-S738C...i got vipers ported cwm img for my phone and edited the recovery images..i then repacked the img and md5.tar the img for use with odin..the flash passes and it flashes to my phone however my edited images are not there...any ideas why would be greatlty appreciated thanks

[Help] have stock rom but want to make flashable recovery.zip

Hello, i have a stock rom for my amlogic m8 s802, I'm looking for a way to make a flash-able zip file of the stock recovery, could anyone help me with this. I don't want the rom to install when flashing the recovery.. thanks I'm on a windows pc also.

It's a tough to Google this as all that comes up is make a recovery flashable zip

How is this a big secret... my brain hurts from all my Google combinations I tried lol
