hey! i just rooted my phone and i wonder if i did right
have i rooted it if there is a file called "clockworkmod"?
just wanted to make sure (btw the folder is empty
thx!
The clockworkmod folder is from the recovery. In order to see if you are successfully rooted, download a root manager like supersu or superuser and download an app called root checker from playstore and grant it root permissions and you will see if your device is rooted or not.

You can be root without recovery too

I have rooted my xe via revolutionary, got the latest cwm installed and now installed superuser but how can I use root features like deleting system apks without flagging another ROM?
Thanks
SOLVED: I had just tried installing Superuser from the market. you need to flash it from http://androidsu.com/superuser/
I'm guessing this might not be possible then?
You can easily do this via something like root explorer which is a paid app, but there are other file explorers that allow root access that are free. Have a search on the market and see you come up with.

He is right if you have s-off and recovery and installed su your good. Es file explorer can be used to. Just check both root access and mount system.

I rooted my phone successfully back in February and everything was normal. Now suddenly, apps are not able to gain root access. When I write "su" in terminal emulator, # does not appear. Other apps such as Link2SD and File Explorer are also not able to gain root access. When I tried to update superuser, it downloads the manifest but is not able to gain root access.

It didn't work
I installed a new rom TrickDroid, and after flashing, and successfully booting up, I could not access certain things that require a rooted phone; so I ran root checker again, and it said I had NO ROOT ACCESS.
I restored my phone to the previous ROM, and all was ok..... wth? I think I had this happen to me when I installed SlimRom, but I was able to find a "Root Access" option in "Developer Options" that allowed me to tick on, root for adb and apps.
I know I'm missing it, and its right in front of me.
Just make a flashable zip of the super user app and binaries and flash it

Sorry, but how do I "make"a superuser zip and binaries? I flashed the same supersu zip that I used during the root process, not sure what you mean regarding binaries. Sorry if this question appears newbish, well I guess I am

Hello Everyone, few days ago I rooted my device, Then I decided to check if it is rooted or not. So I downloaded root checker and It Says, "Sorry Root access isn't installed properly in this device". While I am able to use other rooted apps like nobloat, adblock, etc.. but having problems in installing Xposed firmwork and renaming etc/install-recovery.sh into etc/install-recovery.sh.bak..
What should I do? And is my device rooted or not?

Do you have an app to control root access e.g. SuperUser. If not download superuser and use it to control permissions as it may be that you have root but applications can't gain access as theres nothing to grant them access.
If that doesn't work just root again.
Thanks, I already have superuser.. and root explorer solved the renaming problem.. but Still having issue while installing xposed

try rooting it via flashing the zip file for device
Hello guys! So, I have a Nexus 5 (stock ROM, twrp and rooted) for a few days now, and I already unlocked and rooted it using the Nexus 5 Toolkit by WUG's . I have the TWRP installed, and using the root checker from playstore i can confirm that I have root. But the strange thing is that it looks like I dont have permissions to the System. Let me explain the problem: I want to install App Ops, for example. Like always, I go to play store, and download the application. Open the application, do install (SU appears and I grant permission), reboot, and when I open the App Ops, it is in the menu to install again. Tried with this flashable zip from @apatal, but no luck. I already tried to install others zip through recovery and had no sucess, but I thinked that was the zip that was damaged. Whats wrong with my rooted Nexus?
