[Q] my recovery doesn't work after trying to install clockwork recovery

I used rom manager to flash to clockworkmod recovery the other day. When it prompted me to confirm my device it said "Huawai U8160" this was wrong my device is ascend II M865. I figured since it was the same company and it didn't give me any other option maybe it would work on my phone too but no dice. When I go to recovery, it just stays at the white huawai splash screen. I have downloaded the ascend II recovery img file from the rom manager site, but don't know how to install it. I looked all over with no luck. Do I need to put it in a specific directory for the 'use other clockwork recovery' thing to recognize it, or does that just look for them online? I read one post that said to replace the .img file in /sdcard/clockworkmodrecovery/download or something but the only file in there is 'tether' and .settings. pls help i need my recovery back

it's clockworkmod recovery for your device, within the zip are varies files, if you are familiar with fastboot then you can flash manually using that.
If you are not then extract the zip to the root of your C drive, connect your device to the computer with a USB and boot the phone on with volume down and the power button which puts you into fastboot (it may be volume up but i think for your device it is volume down) then double click on the install-recovery-windows.bat and you should be ok

well it wouldn't boot into fastboot it just stayed at the white splashscreen, so i ran the three files from cwm and it worked! So if anybody else has this problem, if you can't boot into fastboot(recovery mode) you can still load the files from your pc using the standard method. I didn't think I could but it worked! No worries, and just an FYI fastboot mode stays at the splash screen, so you were actually in fastboot mode

lmao well that exlains a whole lot i am great with computers but phones are new to me learning fast tho..

Phone Won't Boot

hello, i have a huawei u8860 honor, I wanted to put a custom rom on my phone, i didn't really know what i was doing but i saw a tutorial that that said to put the phone into pink screen mode then replace the recovery.img with clockworkmod one. i made a backup of the default on just in case. the clockworkmod one wouldn't let the phone boot so i went back to put the original recovery.img file back onto the phone. but now my phone will not boot with the default stock recovery.img and boot.img. i cant get into recovery mode or anything other than "pink screen mode". all it does is flash the huawei logo for a few secconds then turns off. i have no idea what to do. did i do something wrong restoring the recovery.img backup? please could someone help me!

HY,if you want to flash a custom rom you need a boot.img and the rom.CwM is a recovery tool that will help you flash roms .After you wiped the cache and the dalvik cache you can install the zip ROM and then reboot.IF you say that the phone will not boot into cwm recovery try push it on your phone again ,if you made the backup with it its the only way to restore your data.It happend to me once but i pushed cwm back into the phone and reboot into recovery by holding volume key and the power button and it worked.

And it also can be because you havent flashed the boot.img correctly.Never forget the the boot.img needs to be where the fastboot files are.YOU can do it by install the SDK from android and push it to platform-tools. GOOD LUCK

A700 - Can't go into Recovery Mode ,OS OK, Root OK, FBoot Unlocked

Hello Guys,
i have made something wrong. i wanted to install the OTA JB Image from internal SD and i was thinking it would work with CWM.
First step i have made is, unlocked the bootloader with adb.exe etc...
The Second Step was to get root and superuser (here maybe i have done something wrong) but in the end i got superuser to work with a patched bootloader or something.
The Third Step i installed CWM and started to flash the recovery image.
But it doesnt go any further, if i try to go into recovery mode, it stucked always at the message "boot recovery kernel". from here its frozen.
i have two recovery images to choice with CWM, One is calling TeamWin Recovery Image and the other is the CWM Recovery. But both doesnt work. I tried to go directly from CWM to the recovery mode and with the Power Button and Vol + Method. Both not working. If i try to boot manually first it says "it update via sdcard" or something, and immiadately it follows the message "boot recovery kernel" and stucked....Nothing happened
Thats a big problem because i cant update anymore and i dont have an externel sd card here. And via google i cant find a solution to this problem.
Is there a Method to install a new Recovery.img via adb? that work properly?
Maybe someone can help me out?

[EDIT] i have solved the problem by my own. I've flashed the wrong recovery img. Now i have flashed that version for ICS with vorbeths Easy Root. And now i can Update the version. Hope there will be no more problems...

How did you do that? could please put steps or that alike? I rooted my a700 and put the iconian rom but i wanted to put Cyanogen but it gets stuck like you said, I also installed iconian using Rom managerm please help!

[Q] HELP! Can't flash ANY recovery or rom! xt1032

Hi, first, thanks for reading. Second, i've already searched de whole google world, and inside all this threads, but....
I CAN'T FLASH ANY RECOVERY! I don't know why!
In fastboot, i put the commands for flashing CWM, TWRP, Philz, and it works with no error. But, when i select the recovery option in my xt1032, it always boot the CUSTOM recovery. What can i do?

TWRP or CWM or Philz is custom recovery, so if you flash them to your device, of course the stock recovery will be replaced by custom recovery, so when you select Recovery option in Bootloader screen, of course it will bring you to a custom recovery. Yesterday I flashed all kinds of recovery in order to flash ROM (flashable zip file) into my phone but it failed all the time, so I decided to install stock firmware by using mfastboot (and removed custom recovery also).

So, i'm getting it wrong.... Please tell me: if i flash a custom recovery, like twrp, how can y acces to it? I though it was from fastboot>recovery
Actualy, I can't flash ANYTHING! It's so frustrating. I've tryied to flash the bootlogo, but it doesn't work either!

Sorry, i misunderstand you. "so when you select Recovery option in Bootloader screen, of course it will bring you to a custom recovery", you said. But no, it only boot de stock recovery! No matter how many times i've flahsed twrp cwm philz...

If you want to flash a custom recovery, you need to have:
- Minimal ABD & Fastboot. Extract it into a folder.
- The recovery's .img file from its website. Its name may be very long, so you should rename it into something shorter, for example "newrecovery.img". Put this file into the same folder that you've just extracted Minimal ADB & Fastboot.
- Boot your phone into Bootloader screen (by first keep holding your Volume Down then press Power button for a short while). Connect the phone to your computer. In your computer, open the folder that contains Minimal ADB & Fastboot and the .img file of the custom recovery aforementioned. Now hold Shift key on your computer's keyboard and right click your mouse on the blank space of the folder. Choose "Open command prompt here''. When you see a black window, type:
fastboot flash recovery newrecovery.img
then Enter. The custom recovery will be installed right away. After that, choose Recovery on your Bootloader screen and the custom recovery will open. Yesterday I read on a website that some ROMs overwrote your custom recovery when your phone rebooted so that might be the reason why you cannot use the custom recovery you've just installed. I don't know how to solve this as I'm just a noob.

I think you're rigth... I need to instal custom recovery because flashing from fastbooy doesn't worked at all... Realy, i've flashed a lot of firmwares and none of them seems to "get flashed" in mi device

custom recovery

Hi,
I'm have been trying to update from kit kat to lollipop on my acer liquid e700 phone.The tutorial said that only philz touch should be used else i would run into problems.I have been trying unsuccessfully to install easy magic installer on my mac, but i always get "sorry adb root shell is not working error",despite adb given root access and usb debugging on, and i followed some tutorials about installing and tuning adb and fast boot.Yes! and the phone is rooted.
So now i tried installing philz touch on the phone and i've downloaded the .img file and zip file and tried flashily, and that doesn't work either.When i try to download philz touch within flashily,is says checking then says 'something went wrong, please try again.I flash the .img file and it says flashed completed, do you want to boot into recovery or flash more files.I click boot into recovery, but all i see is a black screen and the phone boots back normally, no recovery.I try it with a zip file, same thing, the screen gets black and the phone reboots, no recovery.I try to boot into recovery manually, and the phone no longer does.When i click volume up to select recovery mode,it just boots up and goes into normal mode, it no longer boots into recovery.
I try rashr and it's another failure.Philz touch doesn't load during installation.
Can someone please help.
