[Q] Help with setting up kernel please. - HTC Sensation

I am having trouble regarding these: undervolt
maximum cpu frequency
maximum gpu frequency
cpu thermal throttling
So i downloaded kernel :Sultan-kernel-Pure-v1.7.0-Pyramid-Aroma.zip
6.5MB, which I think is the latest one. But i am not familiar with those because it is my frist time to flash my own rom and kernel. I've done everything right but can you help me set up the kernel? which is best? because there are numbers in it and i dont know what to choose. Also what is best setting for saving battery life? overclock, underclock, undervolt, cpu freq, gpu freq, thermal throttling., what are those
I also apologize for posting like 3 threads for this because im a newbie. I hope you consider. HELP me please.

for good battery life put these settings:
cpu freq: whatever freq you want but maximum at 1.5ghz
gpu freq:266mhz
undervolt:whatever value you want but maximum -50mv

Tnx. I did what you said. Hopefully it'll help with battery life.

Does SetCPU overclocking raise voltage for the CPU ?

Been wondering this for a few days. Does setCPU raise CPU voltage when it overclocks ?
Because if it doesn't, then battery life shouldn't be affected.
I'm not sure about SetCPU itself, but in order to overclock, the voltage must be raised anyway - for example on my milestone ( using milestone-overclock ) when i set the maximum to 1.2Ghz, i have to change it to 80vsel. ... so battery life will be affected when you load a custom ROM or load the kernel module to overclock.
so when you load the overclocked setting in setCPU, it uses the vsel specifed from there, right? which would result in more voltage

[Q] Undervolting - Will it reduce device temp?

Right so my phone can get pretty hot some times and I was just wondering if I undervolt it will it reduce the heat of my phone?
Also how much difference does UV actually show
It can't, because you can undervoltage not much or your phone won't be stable anymore.I think the easier way is to downclock your cpu speed.

It can help in term of technical, but in actually at the rate you can see the different of it.I don't think your phone will still stable or functional.

He means that you can use an app like SetCPU to underclock or lower the clock frequency of your phones CPU, this will leave you a slower but cooler phone.
yes, if you undervolt you reduce cpu "power consuption" as equally as how many volt you decrese.. but.. if you undervolt too much, you lose cpu stability, so, if you undervolt you have to underclock, the same for overclock, if you overclock you may overvolt
it's different for all peoples, some users could have a better cpu (with less impurity), it can be overcloccked better with less overvolt, some can have a bad cpu chip, it means they have to overvolt so much for a little overclock
i have a sensation normally with -75mV undervolt and stock clock, it's stabe, so, am i lucky?
Temperature is a function of voltage + clockspeed. It is recommended you stay at 1.2ghz for good balance b/w performance, temp, and battery consumption.
To easily find your optimal voltage threshold, globally undervolt in stages of 12.5mv until your phone because unstable. Then increase it by 1 stage and that is the optimal voltage your phone should be running at.
Of course you can even go as far as tweak voltages at different clock speeds. Usually there is much more room to UV the lower clocks (192 and 384mhz around 800 or 812.5mv) than the higher clocks.
Hope this helps

Getting a Poco x3 pro soon and thinking about undervolting could you add me on discord and help me? If so add Gokn#4488

[Q] CPU Question

Greetings people!
Sorry if this was already asked, but i couldnt find answer anywhere.
i ve rooted nexus 5 (stock kernel, stock rom) and installed trikster mod. I have noticed that minimum and maximum cpu frequencies are changing from time to time. Is this normal?
Thanks!
Hi,
If the min CPU freq changed by itself it could be due to MpDecision (the min CPU freq is increased for smoothness purpose when you touch the screen so when you open Trickster Mod for example for xx ms... plus the specific refresh time of the app to see the real min CPU freq), for the max CPU freq maybe due to thermal throttling at some point (the CPU freq is decreased according to the CPU temperature to avoid damages)...
What is the min CPU freq when it's changed? 1.26 Ghz?
What is the max CPU freq when it's changed? In what situations?

Nexus 5 permanently slower after overclock??

I'm pretty new to Android. I got my N5 2 months ago and rooted it as soon as I took it out of the box to get rid of the navigation bar. Didnt install any ROM or kernal.
What I did today was try to overclock it. I wanted to test the performance upgrade with Geekbench 3.
I got 2500. Tried to overclock with this app called: No-frills CPU control. And suddenly I get no higher than 2000...... Tried everything. I'm stuck at a multi core score of 2000 in geekbench while it should be 2500>.
WTF DO I DO? My device is noticeably slower, it's like a GS4 D: I'd rather not install any kernals/Roms
I set the minimum CPU frequency to 300Mhz and max to 2.266Ghz
Hi,
Thermal throttling..., overclocking produces more heat than the stock CPU freq so more thermal throttling. To prevent any damage, the CPU freq decreases according to the CPU temperature...
Let cool down your phone.

Sure, I'll turn it off for a while.
Just to make sure: the standard CPU frequencies are 300Mhz MIN and 2.266Ghz MAX, right?

Yes, that's right 300 Mhz-2,26 Ghz.
Not necessary to turn your phone OFF , when it boots it's a process that causes "heat" at the beginning then you will need to let it cool down again. EDIT: oups, you mean the thermal throttling OFF maybe?
Don't touch it for a while, airplane mode can help. If you are in a "hot" country/weather, air cooling, fridge...
We speak about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...5-user-benchmark-thread-added-t2506965/page42.

I've let it cool down and I got my old performance back . Never knew the solution would be so simple. Thanks.

Stable voltage for undervolting

Hello guys if you have note 3 (sm-n900) with Kernel -halaszk-UNIVERSAL5420- and want to undervolt your CPU I have found a stable voltage for undervolting, Use SetCpu, first of all set your CPU when you are playing huge games to avoid overheating to min.200 max1300Ghz.
200Mhz-700mv
250-750
300-775
350-825
400-850
450-875
500-925
550-975
600-1025
650-1075
800-750
900-800
1000-825
1100-850
1200-875
1300-950 or 975
If your device overheats after undervolting I recommend to use DVFS disabler.
Do keep in mind, that there are not 2 exactly same devices. There is no stable voltage, which works for all phones with that model number.
Need help
I am using N-900 running Lollipop stock rom 5.0
I wanna do undervolting the cpu for long lasting battery life without flashing new mod rom.
Please give me some advice or recommended kernel for stock rom supporting an undervolt method.
Thank you in advance.
are there tests for battery life gained vs performance lost? would be interesting

1) What is DVFS?
2) Underclock to 200mhz is NOT POSSIBLE!
3) There no undervolting, because my phone stock volt for 300Mhz is 775Mhz, which i use for 300Mhz is 700Mhz and no reboot, nothing. Just bit longer battery life.
4) Setting for 300Mhz-1300Mhz for gaming isn't recommend i. Just enabler Samsung Stock Power Saving. It's limited CPU to 1700Mhz with MCPS (Multi-core Power Saving) with Bettery thermal options and GPU framerates limits to 30FPS for slightly save power and slightly reduce overheating.
Thanks
