Just installed the custom Ultrablaze GB rom and rebooted the device from recovery and waited 50 minutes while it was only displaying the HTC boot screen. What am I doing wrong?
Already read in the thread that it could take up to 20 minutes for it to load but I waited over 50 so...

You probably got it soft bricked. I'd suggest re downloading the ROM and then posting in the ROM's thread. If all else fails, you should use another custom ROM or ask the developer if the download link somehow got corrupted.

Okay, ill take this from the top.
Well i found out Cyan had a new rom available and i figured ill take the time to update to the newest rom i was on 4.1.1.1.1.1.1 (Whatever) and i first downloaded 4.2.3.1 and tried to flash it not knowing you have to download a recovery image so i had downloaded and flashed the recovery image on top of the 4.2.3.1 then when that was finished the phone said formatting radio or something then it rebooted then went back to the recovery screen next thing i see is the phone giving a message formatting cache and it didnt do anything for about 20 min i rebooted the phone and now im back at stock firmware without root.....
Do i go ahead and Root my phone again or do i have to do something else.
Any advice is much appreciated!

Yeah that's why you must always read before flashing. You should reroot you phone to be safe. What bootloader and recovery system do you have now? Next time download the recovery image from htc and then flash ur image from cyanogen. ... and oh yeah POST in Dream Q&A next time. This forum is already cluttered as is already.

I am beyond fed up with people like you.
You are not contributing to Android development.
You are not helping anyone.
You're simply selfish, lazy, stupid, and a waste of time.
Sorry if that sounds extreme, but it's not that hard to read forum rules.
Did I read that correctly in that you flashed 4.2.3.1 over your 4.1.9xx w/e CM build and then flashed the HTC image afterwards? Ya that was incorrect. You did the process in reverse. Just read Cyanogen's first post in his thread (read it slowly just to make sure). It clearly states what to do.

Seems to me like someone didn't read the directions correctly on how to flash the ROM. You deserve it, but it's not the end of the world. I'm surprised this thread has not been moved or locked yet, but then again, Mods have enough trouble sifting through stuff like this as it already is. Oh what to do, what to do.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or simply search.......This isn't a developmental subject, Thank you.

Hey,
I'm trying to install the [ROM] Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray [9/10/11].
I've got CWM installed (version recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img but also tried latest version from ROM Manager).
Each time i try to install the .zip it get's to opening package and then just exits to the CWM menu?
It's probably a common thing, but couldn't find anything from a search? Anyone got any ideas?
This has been covered many times so take the time to do a search.

I had to thank you Muffycheeks for your excellent answer. I am not sure why you did not at least give an indication about where to find the answer or what the issue is? Lucky this was posted in Q&A and not in the dev thread!
I am new to Xoom (only got it since yesterday) and have managed to get the bootloader unlocked and custom recovery installed. For some reason when I reboot the device the recovery is flash back to 3e (I suppose this has been also debated millions of times but I cannot find it yet...)
I had been able to flash one of the custom roms but it gets stuck in bootscreen. I wiped everything I could think of and followed a couple of advices and still not working.
I am downloading the other rom (as far as I can tell there are only 2 customs with one of them based on the other one) and will see if that works.
Sorry Addicteddddd for highjacking your thread but I have been searching for a while until I found your thread and I thought my issues were over to find the standard helpful XDA answer. Some people might have had their device for years but some other are quite new to this.
K.
EDIT: It seems that one of the recoveries do not advise if a ZIP file is bad and therfore comes back with no message. I suppose this is why this is happening.
I downloaded 3 ZIP files and they are all corrput. Not sure what is happening here but anyway.

I don't know if you used this guide but there is a bit of discussion of some issues regarding cwm recovery versions and some pitfalls while trying to flash.Check it out if you haven't
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
Also, how are you downloading the file? Are you getting the right version? If you are using the R4c v3.2.0.0 it should be called solarnz, not tiamat. The guide has the correct link.

Can someone help please? I installed CWM Recovery thru ROM Manager. Rebooted in recovery to back up my ROM and now I can't get out of recovery. Every time I select Reboot System it reboots me into recovery.
Try here (if you can use NVFlash)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519635&highlight=boot+into+cwm
Like many others, When I saw the thread over in the Dev section about the 5.5.0.4 recovery, I jumped right in and fired up Rom Manager before reading any further in the thread.
Unlike many others, I don't get the same results. My TF101 reboots to the OS with no problem. However trying to reboot to recovery from recovery doesn't work. I have to hold the vol. down button just like a cold boot into recovery.
The only difference might be, that I had stock recovery prior to installing 5.5.0.4, due to having to recover from another soft brick condition after trying to install the CM9 Nightly that is now available over on the official Clockworkmod site. That one had failed miserably for my device.
Good luck with solving your problems with the new recovery. Wish I could explain exactly why mine seemed to work as advertised when most others didn't. But I don't know.
I do have the problem with the Removable MicroSD not being visible. Only the built in "Fake" SD Card.
Update:
I now have the reboot into recovery problem. I used the wipe data option from the VOL DWN/PWR button start up, and now have that annoying boots into recovery problem like everyone else. I hope that and the SD card problem gets fixed in the next version.
Thanks, got everything back to normal with NVFlash method I found by watching this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VMHXeYMgPy4
Lesson learned!! :/
Curious where the thread in the Dev section went to, I cant find it this morning...
Unfortunately, some of us cannot use NVFLash to fix this problem.
So, is it too much to ask that the Dev who wrote Rom Manager and CWM actually look in to this for us?
I too installed the newer CWM through Rom Manager and need to cold boot to get in to the OS otherwise it recovery boot loops.

Thread was closed. I was on it this morning and wanted to post a reply saying NV Flash work for me and I couldn't because it said the thread was closed.
I read the whole thing and apart from NV Flashing the was no other solution
How do you know you can't NVFlash?
yea , this morning the thread in the Dev section went to general , and now closed.
Perhaps we should follow this until everything is clarified.
the nvflash only work for b60 and some b70 tablets , most of b70 and b80 cant be flashed with this tool
I'm working on something to fix this, but I still need a little more testing.

any clue where to attack the problem?
Some people reported the new recovery worked when flashed over stock recovery.
any help you can supply on this would be greatly appreciated. it's very uncomfortable not being able to count on your recovery.

too late for us
I was up until 1am following the thread and posting my process, specs.
I am even more curious as to how the thread which was still pretty calm turned in to something that deserved being deleted.
In any event, I think we all understand that what we do is at our own risk. But CWM and Rom Manager have been the gold standard of reliability for quite some time. Once something is a trusted means by which to do something its even more disappointing to see that it no longer works.
the first post was moved because it was not exactly a development post
then, in the general section, I do not know why it closed, there is no explanation
so if microsd is not recognized, i can install rom from internal, right?

Hey, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
I'm using CWM recovery and trying to install a ROM (i've tried two overall, so it's the phone with the issue).
After 'Installing' a ROM from the recovery, (which takes like 30 seconds, is this OK?) I try to boot and just get stuck on the 'htc' logo bootscreen. It's currently been like this for about 15 mins... What've I been doing wrong?
Really appreciate your help, tbh have little experience and a lot of other threads mean nothing to me.
Thanks.
If you unlocked via HTCdev you need to flash the boot.img of your desired ROM each time you flash a new ROM.
P.S. : It has been mentioned all over the forums. Please search before posting. . . {Also, this should have been posted under Q&A}
I tried updating android 4.4.2 KitKat based CM11 ROM but get stuck at the boot logo after the hole updating process, try to wipe the phone after installation multiple times, but nothing work.

Stickies are posts that are generally considered extremely useful so they get "stuck" at the top of the list in the forums, so they are seen first and can resolve peoples questions without much looking. Like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785999 . From personal experience I'd recommend using PhilZ touch recovery. It's done the trick for me so far. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557024
Thanx Cyndar, tried with philz touch, but the same.. still loops... and cant find anything in the stickies. I think to just stay with 4.3
so... who needs google now?
Thanx again

If you are trying the nightly ROMs, they have a known issue loading for the past few releases. Go back and find a Jan20-something nightly and give that a shot. Again...there are known boot loop issues with the nightly ROMs starting Feb1.

1. Download UCMC1 modem and install it
2. Go into CWM Philz thread and use Odin to install it
3. Flash your rom.
I did it with AOSB (amazing work) but had problems with PA GAPPS flashing, so i took the gapps zip from the Avatar rom and it's been working extremely nicely. As an added touch by suggestion from another user, I flashed the Uber Kernal on top of it after.
But like the others said, seriously, slow down and read the instructions rather than jumping around and accidentally screwing something up
