Welcome to the Android world . Your age, and current abilities are really not a factor. As long as you are willing to read, learn, and retain information XDA Developers is an excellent place. Below are some links to get you started. I would highly suggest that you take your time, and go slowly at first. Knowledge, and ability will come with time. Best of luck.

[Q] Please help to upgrade HTC Touch HD to Android 2.3

Hi,
This is my first post in this forum though I've been silently learning all from here since 2 years now. To put it simple and straight forward my question is:
I've been using HTC Touch HD (not HD2) since 2 years now but suddenly got bored of it when my brother got Samsung Galaxy S2 for himself a week back. Now I just want to change my OS from Windows Mobile 6.5 to Android 2.3 (or any other supported Android version if not 2.3) on my HTC Touch HD (not HD2).
Please help me if I can do it or not. If yes then How to do it, where to download stuffs and links and all....
Looking forward for some of the Senior members reply but any sort of help from anybody will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Maneesh Agarwal

[Q] Android on HTC Titan PI39100

Hello XDA!
Although I have been using XDA forums as my main (if not only) source for everything to do with Android and HTC alike, I have only just registered and am therefore a noob, unfortunatley .
I currently own a HTC Sensation, an amazing phone with alot in the way of versatility, especially considering the wide range of custom ROM's and other development material available from the highly talented developers within your ranks. I, personally, would not know where to start.
As I work for C.E.X ltd, I have access to a wide range of gadgets to play with and assess for my own interests as well as product research for my job. I have recently got my hands on a HTC Titan PI39100 WM7 phone for a two week test drive. This is a really nice phone that has an amazing feel and a nice big screen, however, I'm not overly keen on WM7 as an OS. I have searched and searched for an answer to my question but have been unable to find one on the web in general.
My question is, is there any way to port/flash an Android system onto the HTC Titan PI39100?
If this is a stupid question please let me know, but personally i beleive that the Titan would make a brilliant Android phone.

Sorry, I thought this was the general board, it won't happen again.

[Q] Ready to root, Best learning resources?

I'm new to Android and this forum.
I've been using a stock Galaxy S2 a few months, now I'm ready to take it to the next level and learn how to root and modify Android properly.
I will be getting a Galaxy S3 upon release, and that's the one I'm going to modify.
I have lots of patience and a strong desire to learn how to do this right.
After doing a search of the forum, I didn't find a thread (perhaps I missed it?) that addresses a comprehensive way to do this.
Seems like many people are only looking for a quick solution. I'd rather spend the time and learn Android thoroughly.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rooting
I would recommend doing a you-tube search for your phone and how to root, after that I would also recommend looking at the rom you want on you-tube. Also look in the XDA developers forums on your phone that should also help you. If you are totally stuck do a google search that's how I rooted my phone with no prior knowledge

[Q] HTC Inspire Introduction

OK guys, so long story short, my X8 broke down and I am looking forward into bying the inspire or the desire hd for easter. As I have seen on the forums the HD has more development and has custom kernels ( I haven't found any for the inspire, correct me if I'm wrong). So I was wondering wich phone should I buy. First of all please state the differences (if any). Then about the kernels and rom stuff, can I treat an Inspire as a Desire HD? I mean, can I load Desire HD kernels and Roms on the Inspire? And finally if not which phone should I buy? If you are familiar with any phones similar to the inspire please state the in a line under your answers! Thank you! Looking forward into joining the community and contributing to it!
They're essentially the same phone. They can use each others' ROMs and kernels.
Thank you I have got my answer from both phone's forums. Moderators may lock the post if they wish.

[Completed] I need your advice for my new mobile

Dear Sir,
Iam looking for a new smartphone that should last for the coming two years.
the specs that Iam looking for is a reliable one.
I have some models in mind but I need your assistance in order to decide.
first choice: Huawei mate S or LG G4 or Samsungs S6 Edge +
second choice : Gionee Elife E8 or BLU Pure XL or Allview X2 Xtreme.
Remark: in option 2, although the three look like together but there should be some one who is better in quality and manufacturing products.
here I need your advice and recommendation for option 1 & 2
last but not least, if you really recommend a mobile that is not in the above list then I will be more than happy to hear from your side.
Awaiting for your reply and thanks in advance
Hello,
Thank you for using XDA Assist
Thank you also very much for asking our advise as to your new phone choice.
While most of us here very big phone enthusiast and have been on these boards for years, the one thing we have learned is that there is so much individualism and what someone may want for their device is not the same that someone else may want.
You have to analyze what is best for you.
What do you want to do with your phone?
How much is a certain feature valuable to you?
This is like asking which is the Best Rom? There is no answer for that!
It is what is best for the user.
May suggest you make a list as you have of devices you may be interested in.
Then go to read about each device the specs, maybe go to the XDA Forum for those devices and read what the users there are saying about it.
Collect as much information as you can then sit down go through it and figure out what is best for you.
Good Luck
Ragnar
