Hello, I tried posting this in the question section but I for some reason had insufficient access.
I've just installed Cyanogenmod 11 (Nightly Build) from my carbon ROM and I've installed Go Launcher Ex. Unfortunately, It requires a million other apps and it's making me want to throw my phone at the wall.
I am using the default lockscreen that the GoLocker comes with as I find all the other ones on the store absolutely awful looking and terribly made however, on the default launcher you swipe right and it brings up a page where you can change the settings of the theme, wallpaper, security, weather, settings and a clean option. Then underneath that part there is a load of app icons there and I have no way of changing which apps are there at all!! Sometimes I unlock my screen and there are 3 apps there, then when I go back to it afterwards, it's completely filled up!?!? They're really frustrating me!! If you take a look at the attachment I have, it's just a picture of what I'm talking about as I'm unable to post links or images.
The other thing that Is really bothering me is the icons such as the Themes, wallpaper, security, weather, settings and clean. They all serve not really much purpose apart from the weather one which I installed ANOTHER Go Launcher app and bought it which is a weather app and when I tap the weather icon, It just takes me to the stupid settings page for the weather options?!?!?
SO FRUSTRATING!! Any help would be saving me SO MUCH!

I have been looking for a standalone app that looks functions like the stock app drawer, but with customizable icons+shortcuts that I can link to from the homescreen; this would be similar to App Organizer or Folder Launcher, which you can do the same thing with, but then apps are displayed in list view. I would just like a snapping "icon view" vertical app drawer.
The goal is to be able to use a quick, lightweight launcher such as Zeam, and be able to change the icons and link to this app instead of the stock one. I feel this would be a solution for many others who don't need or want a full featured homescreen and just want to be able to get a custom look.
This would also save an enormous ammount of time for those (like me) who have attempted to Meta/Ninja-morph or resign market apps and spent a rediculous ammount of time trying to change that one giant orange square icon that throws off the otherwise clean custom look of your drawer.
I love ADW Ex, but it can get really bogged down with multiple widgets. LauncherPro can hide apps from the drawer and have homescreen shortcuts, but that is a pain as well. Other possible featurs could be horizontal/vertical/4d/etc. and custom arrangement, keeping in mind that the main goal is to keep it from eating up resources. Anybody?
(maybe this thread should be moved, thnx)
I know Im not the only one

Doesn't allow custom icons
We would love to have apps that we want to be present at the right time for easy use and we dont want to scroll through our app drawer to find it.
These launchers and lockscreen will understand you and provide you with the apps you want at the right time without you telling them.
COVER: [coverscreen.com] this is a lockscreen that will give you the apps that you want directly in the lockscreen at the right time. It has an awesome feature called "Peek" that will let you to peek into your app as if it is already opened under the lockscreen.
AVIATE: [getaviate.com] this is a home launcer that will change its homescreen for presenting you the things that you want at the right time.
EVERYTHING.ME: [everything.me] it is a launcher which will change dynamically based on the things that you want. the coolest thing is it even changes the wallpaper based on the thing that you have asked for it.
Caveat: You won't have any wallpaper. So its all black to ya. But holy **** it's worth it. The launcher felt very smooth as baby asses and I am now willing to give up having wallpaper altogether.
Now the method is very simple and it made use of Google Now Launcher bug (lol)
Tested setup:
Worked on latest CM11 nightly (29/06), latest crombi with vanilla setting (none of the fsync, force GPU etc.), and also crombi with data2sd mod.
Download the official Google Now Launcher in Play Store (don't worry, you can use your preferred launcher later) (I would link but no rep sigh..)
Open the Google now launcher, long press anywhere, and go into the wallpaper setting
Choose one of the stock wallpaper that came with the Google now launcher (I chose the yellowish swirly thingy)
Press set wallpaper
Wait. After a few secs, it should return you to back to the google now launcher home screen but this time with no wallpaper. If it applied the wallpaper successfully, then try another stock wallpaper. If it still applies the wallpaper successfully, then tough luck. Doesn't work for you then.
So since you don't have any wallpaper, try moving around the launcher and stuffs. Feel the smoothness that almost rivals the iOS. Heck you can even go back to your preferred launcher now. The no wallpaper bug stick with nova and trebuchet. This smoothness is the dream we were denied.
This method is reproducible for me and no, setting to that "no wallpaper" option in Nova only applies a black image in the background. The Google Now Launcher bug allows us to literally have no wallpaper at all.
Also, I've been trying to check all day if the lagginess that was originally present in launchers w/o using this bug came from CPU or GPU. I dare to say, for what's it's worth, all my noobish test seems to be pointing to the Tegra 3 GPU. Hell you can even go on power save mode with this wallpaper bug and still see nothing impacting it baby butt smoothness.
(The current Google Now Launcher version in Play Store is 1.0.16.1154249 as of this post)
I use GMD Gestures to navigate through my apps and stuff. It has an option to "hide" the status/navigation bar - i think it basically just kills SystemUI. Yes you wont be able to access the notifications and quicksettings anymore, but hell the home screen is perfect smooth and you get to keep your wallpaper. (might be different on other ROMs, i'm on CROMBi-kk)

Good to know. I prefer having the status bar though since I have two WiFi network in my house and I frequently take a peek at the quick settings panel usually to know which network I'm using.
I couldnt find the next options:
- Spotify Lockscreen background (album picture)
- Lockscreen Background - Live Weather - should have option for set up the downloadable number of pictures per day
- Unlocked/Not mobile carried ROM has no automatic ABC list in menu and you have only manual "edit" option
...or "user error"?
With the ABC menu, I assume you mean the app menu in the touchwizz launcher? If so, the only way I've found so far is to root your phone and then modify a CSC file. The easiest way for that is to download the CSC modifier app my wanam from Play store (after rooting) and search for "alphabet", find the appropriate setting, and set it to "TRUE", and reboot. But like I said, it involves rooting, and all the associated risks of doing so.
For the others you mention, I have no advice I'm afraid.
Thanks for the advice!
Yes, I mean app menu in the TW launcher. But its not such an important setting to modify and root my phone. Anyway, I would appreciate a future update from Samsung.
I liked the fullscreen album art on the lockscreen when I had kitkat on the S4, when it went to lollipop it stopped doing it. I don't know if it's possible to enable it again or if it's a lollipop screw up.
I'm sure if we made enough of a fuss about it, they'll put some of these features back :3 there's no logical reason I can think of to remove a simple "Sort" button.
If you aren't too bothered about TW only widgets (like the weather clock), you could always use another home launcher app. Google Launcher and Nova are both quite good. Google Launcher is nice and simple, and Nova is customisable to the extreme.
I'm currently in the process of organising my folders and home screen layout of Nova should have installed that first, as I now have loads of apps to organise u.u damn....
Hi all,
Sorry for the silly question, but this is driving me mad. I tried everything I could think of, followed a few tips, but still have the same picture...
I want to have a picture of mine I downloaded to the phone, I selected it from settings but it doesn't work of course.
I am on MIUI 7 by Xiaomi.eu 5.12.4 beta
I tried it from the settings screen but only option seems to be to choose online, other options seem to be for main wallpaper and changing them has no effect... I use MultiPicture Live wallpaper as a wallpaper, and even tried an option there to change the lockscreen.
Any tips?
Thanks,
Julien

I think you use a custom launcher? If yes, you have to go to settings, apps, default and then chose stock miui launcher as default launcher. On the stock launcher homescreen you can then swipe with 2 fingers (1 from the left side of the screen and 1 from the right side of the screen, towards the middle of the screen). Then you can change the lockscreen wallpaper. After that you can change back to your other launcher. This is a known bug/feature
Thanks. Will try this now! You are right, i am using Google now as launcher
It worked a treat. Thanks again!
I hope they fix this sometime, because this is a pain in the ass
