You definitely need to either get s-off or change your CID back to stock before running any RUU (s-on + SuperCID + jb RUU = brick). Do you currently have root on the 4.0.4 ROM you're on? Try issuing this fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid CWS__001
It most likely won't work but it's worth a shot. Check the CID afterwards with this command:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid

Cool, now that you have the stock CID you can just go ahead and run the RUU. If you need directions there is an RUU tutorial in our General Section.

Excellent, glad to see you got it updated. I forgot to mention you would need to relock the bootloader, sorry about that. Thanks for posting your results and how you overcame that problem, that's the best thing to do here on XDA, the more information available the better.

Sensation ICS no start

Hello, I'm a Noob xD
I was using miui in my sensation but i decided to downgrade to ICS and use stock images for this device...
I followed instructions of this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749789
flashed firmware...
flashed ROM thru CWMR 6.0
and when I turn on the phone starts with the HTC logo then makes a sound and shows again the HTC logo and quietly brilliant but nothing happens and I wonder what I'm doing wrong...
I hope community can help me to solve this mistery
Thanks in advance...

Yeap... wiped cache, data, dalvik cache and system...
I was checking that the phone's model is PG58110 i don't know if this is making all the trouble...
to check if you have supercid: boot the device into bootloader
connect via usb to pc,open a command window and do
fastboot getvar cid
if it shows you 11111111 then you have supercid
if not then do
fastboot oem writecid 11111111 (to change CID)
fastboot reboot-bootloader(bootloader will reboot)
fastboot getvar cid(it will confirm your CID as 11111111)
after that install fw(from bootloader but first rename it as PG58IMG) for stock ics and then the stock rom
best wishes
edit:don't forget to superwipe first

Sorry for delay... I'm using windows 8 and the %&$# drivers don't work on 8 all drivers installed need to be signed...
well i confirm that I'm supercid and i didn't know it xDD
that's what I did....
rename the .zip installed the firmware and then the stock ICS but i don't know what I'm doing wrong...
Why when I install MIUI with JB 4.1.1 works and when I install stock ICS doesn't? MIUI it's a great rom but my battery lasts 4 hrs and I don't like that! and front camera is not working
Please help this noob xDD

Install htc sync on windows 8 that will automatically install the drivers..
Also if you are supercid.. Then I would request you to change back to your original cid
Ye this suggestion seems meaningless but one guy just like you has the same problem.. But when changing his cid to actual one then everything started working
For changing cid
fastboot oem writecid <your cid>
Eg: fastboot oem writecid HTC__001
The above command should be typed with phone connected from bootloader to pc ( phone reads fastboot usb after this)

[Q] RUU won't work

I have been trying to run a RUU to unroot the phone before I bring it in for a repair. I keep getting the 155 error and I searched through google for help on the error. I have read a few post about it but nothing works. I tried to run it through fastboot as well and that does not work. My phone information while in bootloader is Evita pvt ship s-on rl hboot 1.09.0000 radio .17.32.09.12 and I am running cleanrom v 6.5 as my rom. Since my rom and boot.img is based of 3.18 I tried to run the ruu on 3.18. Im not sure if its because it is an older verdion of bootloader while im running a rom that is based off the 3.18. So I also tried to flash a older rom and run the ruu for 1.73 but that didnt work either. Im stumped and very frustrated so please I need your help.
Could you post the download link for the RUU? Just wanna make sure you go the right one.

Yeah for the 3.18 its http://bugsylawson.com/HTCFiles/Evi....24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_signed.exe
and for the 1.73 its http://www.ponack.net/designgears/b...73.502.2_2FE6772699D8596307CC997452BB8D25.exe
Also I read that in order to use the RUU correct I need to soff the phone, but then I cant upgrade the firmware to jellybean. Do you know if this is correct?
The phone will brick if you try to ruu or update to 3.18 while S-ON and superCID. Your CID right now, no doubt is 11111111. When the RUU runs it checks to see what your CID is, if it's not what it should be, it gives an error. If you change your CID back to CWS__001 you can run the 1.73 RUU but you can never update to 3.18 unless you S-OFF first or you'll brick.
to check your CID fastboot oem readcid.
You can change it once without S-OFF with fastboot oem writecid CWS__001 but you can't change it again with that command unless you're S-OFF

Ok thanks. Im in the process of doing the S-OFF right now. What I want to do is get rid of the red text and make my phone look like the bootloader is locked and never tampered with. I remember doing this with my EVOLTE so it will look like the phone is S-ON and locked. After all that run the RUU for 2.20 so it can get repaired. Now after the repair I can root again and upgrade to the Jellybean firmware right?

[Q] No more Bootloader

Hello XDA community!
I recently had a problem with my HTC one XL, the AT&T version. I know I'm not in the right section but, as both phone are very similar, I would like to know if anybody as already encouter a problem as mine.
I recently try to convert my HOXL into an international version by following this tuto. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356401
Everything was fine until the point 4.b. To make quick, (more informations on my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430573 )
As said in the tuto, my HTC One get stuck at about 3/4 completed, So I reboot it, and type the folling commands: "fastboot oem writemid PN0710000" but instead of getting a successful message, I get an error
<bootloader> [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.009s]
finished. total time 0.009s
I've been stuck on the black HTC screen with 4 triangles and "!" in each corner until I found a command on the web "fastboot oem boot". After this command, the phone has booted directly on the viper boot screen but without the white HTC screen "Quietly Brilliant". Now, my phone is working perfectly, as before under the Viper rom. But when I reboot the phone there is no more the HTC screen, and moreover, I no more have the bootloader ! If I reboot the phone and select the "reboot to bootloader" option, my phone go back to the black HTC screen with 4 triangles and "!" in each corner.
I would like to go back in stock rom, but I'm afraid to flash my phone without bootloader. I think it's to risky. So do you think I can fix my bootloader before flashing ? Anyone already had kind of problem like this one ?
My phone is Tampered unlocked, S-OFF, I was in super CID, but I get back to the original ROGER001.
Thanks for reading...
That's not a tutorial for this phone. The title indicates that it's how to turn an at&t HTC One into an intentional HTC One. You've tried to flash firmware that isn't intended for your device. If you can still boot it up it might be recoverable.
I'd suggest you try running a Rogers RUU (one that's actually for your phone) to see if it helps. I don't know if it will though.
In future don't go looking all over the place, stay in the One XL forum and only EVER flash software/firmware from it. You'll find it here.

I ended up in a state similar to yours once.
Fastboot was still working so I flashed a modified hboot from this thread and then I was able to boot into bootloader. from there I think I ran an RUU.

Seems to be a good idea, but unfortunatly my hboot is 1.11 and there is no hboot 1.11 file ...
That's because you've put a non One XL bootloader on your phone by following that tutorial. You're not looking for an RUU that matches your current setup, you're looking for an appropriate RUU for your phone.
I suggest you do a lot of reading and learning before you attempt anything else though, you're in way over your head which is pretty dangerous as you've found out.

Am I completly wrong ?!
No you're not wrong, I was wrong, that is an RUU for our phone. As long as you're still s-off you should be ok to run that. You might want to take Exad's advice and fix up your hboot first though.

The tutorial linked in the OP seems so convoluted. If the OP already has S-off, why bother with this stuff? You were already in a state (S-off) where you could flash whatever you want, whenever you want. Not have to wait around for OTAs and be limited by stock firmware.

Okay,I've read the whole topic, but there is no 1.11 to dowload. But there is people which were in 1.11 just like me and flash 1.09.
So gonna try with 1.09
You can get hboot 1.11.0000 inside any OTA that shipped it, eg Rogers 1.94.
I am not following why you want hboot 1.11, you can upgrade hboot to 1.14.
Typically downgrading hboot is harder than upgrading it
Why not just flash the AT&T 3.18 RUU?

But I got an error when I tried to flash my phone:
An error (-5001 : 0x0070002) has occured while running the setup .....
I've read that it's because I'm trying to downgrade or something like that... I've been typing fastboot getvar version-main
Version-main: 3.17.707.1
So, what can I do ?
[edit] I'm not looking especially for a french version if there is some kind of HTC "pure" international version...

Hello !
I'm stuck with an other problem right now. (hope it's gonna be the last !). I've put the EVITA vodaphone FR RUU and everything is working perfectly. But, when I try to do an OTA with the phone, it doesn't work: thephone download the OTA but when finished, I got a message saying it's not gonna be installed because of differrent version...
I've been looking for a solution in the forum, but most of the time it just say to relocke the bootloader, and flash an original recovery. That's what I've done from the .zip of a vodafone FR that I've found. I even try to put the vodafoneFR CID instead of the superCID, but I still got the same error...
Am I missing something ?
You can't install an OTA on a modified phone. If you want to use Android 4.2.2 / Sense 5 why don't you just flash one of the many ROMs available in our development section? They're all based on the official update.

[Q] Set Telstra HTC One XL to s-off

Hi guys, first time poster - I want to install the following custom rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2442946
... and being new to android modding, do not want to brick it by doing something wrong.
I gather i need to set up superCID and then set to s-off - would anyone be able to point me in the right direction on how to do these correctly for a Telstra phone?
My phone is rooted with CWM, from whati gather (it says "ClockworkMod recovery" in recovery mode).

Thanks

You might already have SuperCID, you can use a fastboot command to check. The command is:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid
If it comes back as anything other than 11111111 you can use this method to get SuperCID.
Once you have SuperCID you can use this method to get s-off.

Thanks, i will take a closer look soon. Is it true that for Telstra phones the CID needs to be 22222222, or is 11111111 okay as well?

The 22222222 CID only applies to at&t phones trying to unlock their bootloader via htcdev, this is because at&t stock CID (cws__001) plus 11111111 CID have been blocked at htcdev. For your purposes 11111111 will be fine.

Thanks for the info - i know i need to superCID as i checked last night and CID was TELST001 (from memory). Will use 11111111.
No problems, did you use the fastboot command the check your CID? I only ask because there are apps available which claim to display your CID but they show the original CID, not the current one.

I tried so many things last night i couldn't tell you exactly what i did, haha! Will try your way and see what it says.
A quick question - in regard to the facepalm link, it says "Download patcher and unzip it in your working directory" - can this be any folder on my phone (eg: Downloads)? I'm also guessing the other file (OneX.zip) goes in the same directory?
No you place the extracted patcher files and the PJ8312000-OneX.zip into your fastboot folder on your pc.
You need to have adb/fastboot and HTC drivers installed on your pc to do the s-off process.

You should keep better track of things you are doing or you will end like NASA on Apollo 1 and not knowing what went wrong.
To repair something you need to know what you did to break it.
Big thanks timmaaa, have upgraded successfully!
twistedddx, you're not wrong - i should have kept an eye on what i was doing. Luckily for me, all went well!
Thanks again.
Glad to see you got it all sorted mate.

the one from the following link:

You either need to update your firmware to 2.15 or just flash the Beastmode kernel.

Thanks, when you talk about beastmode, is the following link what you are referring to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797251
Also, with firmware 2.15 - i would actually like to keep it as stock as possible, so perhaps the firmware upgrade would be the better option? I have found a link that looks like it goes to the correct download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45646878 - (see last post)
Would i be right in saying the instructions for updating the kernel would be the same as at the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2423735 - (OPTIONAL: Installing the Firmware)
Thanks again for your help.
The first link is incorrect, you can find the Beastmode kernel in our development section. The kernel you just install in recovery.
The last link you quoted is where you'll find the 2.15 firmware, and the install instructions see in the first post on that thread (it's a manual install using fastboot).

Thanks - looks easy enough. Can i ask what why i would install Beastmode instead of the firmware upgrade? From what i gather, it is to overclock the CPU?
You can leave the Beastmode settings stock, it's just an easier and safer fix rather than upgrading firmware. You can OC if you wish to of course. There's always a small risk involved with anything that touches your hboot.

Thanks, maybe i will install beastmode instead then if it will help fix my connection issues. Sorry, but would you be able to point in the direction of where it is in the development section, i cannot seem to find it.
I promise if this works you wont have to hear my noob questions anymore!!

[Q] Upgrading Through RUU Help Needed

Hello My Dear Learners & Teachers....
my question is my At&t HOX is on 4.0.3 ICS Wanted To Install JB i went to htc site and got the RUU Link
(RUU_EVITA_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_3.18.502.6_Radio_0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34_release_signed_With_Partial)
The Filename mentioned ... want to know is it correct RUU for my At&t HOX?
My Current Info is
Software Number "1.85.502.3" | Radio 0.17.32.09.12 | Hboot 1.09.0000
That is the right RUU for the AT&T version.
Is your phone stock or modded?

If you have Super CID, do not run the RUU. It will brick your phone.
If you're not sure, type the following command into your command line:
fastboot oem
readcid

If the phone is s-on, yes that is right.
First of All Thanksss
yeahhhh its S-on
and please let me know why super cid will brick?? I thought super cid means any ruu will work..lol :silly:
and no mine is not super cid ... so I will upgrade it. :highfive:
SuperCID just means that at&t phones were able to unlock via htcdev because the at&t CID was blocked. SuperCID + s-on + jb RUU = brick. This is because a CID check that occurs halfway through the RUU update doesn't allow the RUU to finish, therefore ending up with a partially completed RUU, which means a bricked phone.

What timmaaa mentioned is basically a bug. The RUU shoudn't run halfway like that, but for some reason on JB RUUs, it does (past RUUs were fine with SuperCID).
But also, what you said above is not true. SuperCID will not allow "any" RUU to work. It only bypasses CID check. Trying to run a RUU for an older hboot will fail version check. You need s-off to run "any" RUU.
thanksssss ALL Update Successful.....
