How to hide the soft keys and swipe up to access them.. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone suggest any app like viper nav bar in HTC m8 which permanently hides the nav baar, makes the screen full screen and bring it up as an overlay whenever we swipe

Smart status bar pro

Can someone who is rooted confirm if smart status bar app ( pro / free ) version works ?
I use this everyday to get screen back on my N4 hoping the launcher has not screwed this up
Hey, I just looked into the app and if I understand correctly, it reveals the status bar in full screen apps.
KitKat has this feature built in. Swipe from the top down to reveal the status bar at and time

Yeah almost, however when combined with full screen mode the status bar auto hides when not in use and pings down and shows its self until you deal with the notification.
It needed root under 4.3 to work in order to redraw the status bar, its not simply hiding the bar constantly not sure how 4.4 deals with it as I have poor WiFi and can't download a build for my n4/7 in any less than 8 hours.

Hide Nav Bar when Typing

Got my Nexus 5 about 4 days ago. Not used to typing on a keyboard above a navigation bar. I am wondering if there is a way to auto hide the bar when the keyboard comes up. And perhaps have a swipe down gesture that hides the keyboard and brings back the navigation bar.
Anything like this?

PA Immersive Mode + Notifications?

So I'm a recent covert to PA, using immersive mode with PIE and loving it! My only gripe though is without the status bar, there's no quick way to get to any new notifications without swiping down once to show the status bar, and then again to show the notification shade.
On the lock screen i tried using DashClock in expanded mode so i can just click on the notification from there, but i find that annoying because then you have to hold the lock icon to unlock the screen? How do you guys do it?

You swipe up the lock icon to minimize an expanded Widget (You expand it by swiping down).

And that works fine, I guess I was looking for a one touch solution. In reality, pulling down the shade and choosing the notification was two touches, and so is pulling down to expand, and then choosing the notification is two as well, so that's not bad, but still trying to find a solution from the home screen or other apps.

You can use DashClock Widget on the home screen too?
Why don't you just use immersive mode with the status bar visible? Its a setting behind the quick toggle for immersive mode. Set it to Nav Bar only.

Fixed- Navbar on Google now launcher is black.

Couldn't find this anywhere else so I'm making a new topic.
My navbar turned black after messing with some settings using sf launcher. Couldn't get it to turn back so I switched back to Google now launcher and the navbar is still black. The status bar is translucent the still. I am rooted and on stock rom.

what settings did you mess with?
In sf launcher I used the setup wizard and ticked the translucent bars setting and then the navbar was black and the status bar was translucent.

Download nova launcher, go to it's settings/ look and feel and enable transparent notification bar. It might work. After that uninstall the app or keep it.
Are you using Tinted Status Bar?

Fixed by force stopping system ui.

[Q] Reassign single-tap Home button

Hey all,
I was wondering if it's possible to reassign single-tap Home button in the navigation bar, as I don't use/need any launcher and would like it to expand status bar instead. Tried Gravity Box (is the only Xposed related app that I know can change Nav bar buttons) and does not permit changing Home button function. I'm currently using Dirty Unicorns, which does neither allow changing the button's function.
Thanks in advanced.

SlimKat allows it.
Yup, slimkat does. And expanding status is a beautiful thing when you don't have to reach to the top of your screen.

Offtopic but that is a hilariously awesome wallpaper. Mind telling where you found it or posting a dropbox link?
Here you go
