5ghz wifi on uk kitkat firmware - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Chinese GT-N8010 and have successfully flashed the UK Version of KK on it along with the Leaked N8000 KK Bootloader and 8013 Wifi fix.
But I noticed 1 problem, when I was on the original Chinese Firmware(JB4.1.2) I can easily scanned 5GHZ 3 digit Channels(149, 153, 157, 161, 165) and connect to it, but after the upgrade, I no longer able to scanned the 3 Digit channels only able to scanned the double digits channel(36, 40, 44, 48) . Maybe this is a N8000 Limitation. Is there a way to fix this problem? Would flashing the original Chinese Boot.img(JB4.1.2 though) on to it fix this Wifi Problem?
I want to fix this because with the 3 Digit Channels I noticed a longer 5GHZ Range and Higher Speed.

[Q] Nexus 5 5Ghz Wifi Channel Problem

I think someone may already noticed this, that (in some case) the phone can't see the 5ghz wifi ap of the router.
The original 4.4 rom of nexus 5 had a more wildly supported channels, which disabled by google in the new update,
especially the America mode D820, it cut to only support channel 36, 40, 44, 48(maybe more),by D821 seems better.
this happend also on GS.
I really don't know why google did kind of things like this.
So, if there is a way to fix this issue?
I remembered that in a CM mod phone, there is a option to change the channel setting, is it also possible on nexus 5 with some hidding menu or something?
I used it with 149 and 151. Been using it since day 1.

I've used channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157 and 161 (the only channels available in my router at 5 GHz). All of them have worked fine on my Nexus 5.
5ghz works fine on mine
My N5 appears to connect fine to 5GHz, but, even though it reports the connection as "excellent", the phone has zero connectivity on that band. My N7, on the other hand, works great on 5GHz. This has been the case since I got the phone. I've tried without success all of the troubleshooting steps recommended in the various threads on the subject. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware issue.
I just solved my problem on Nexus 4, I think probably it is the same on Nexus 5. See post here:

5GHz networking

Has anyone had trouble with connecting to 5GHz networks with the 2012 GT8010?
I've been unable to. I can see the network but always get authentication issues. This occurred with the original 4.1.2 rooms and now with omnirom after a full reset
My other devices such as a laptop and s4 have no issues...
2.4GHz is just fine even to the same router with the same security settings. Disabling security., dropping g down from ac to a doesn't help nor does switching channel

I have not had any problems personally. I'm running stock not rooted. I have heard other guys having problems though. Sorry I can't help
If you're rooted (or even just have a custom recovery) check here. Turns out that the wrong WiFi config file is being used in US-based units so 5GHz DFS channels won't always work.

thanks. interesting to see if I have issues in those files, but I am actually in the UK in any case.
I tried copying the *mfg* file to *txt* - manufacturing? default perhaps? this had cc=ALL instead of UK, but I figured why not
No difference.....
So followup question - could any UK users post their files from /system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt*

and yes I know the mac code is in there - skip that
Does anyone ever got more than 150 mbps rate ? I mean the connection rate between the tablet and router, not some speed test result. On 5Ghz I get 150, on 2.4GHz no more than 72 mbps. I tried 3 different routers, never got more then 150 mbps, and 60 up/60 down in speed tests.

No, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's intentionally set via the WiFi firmware; the WiFi chip is connected to the Exynos via a 50MHz bus that's 4 bits wide, so your effective thruput wouldn't ever be higher than ~180Mbit/sec anyway.

Higher wifi channels on 2.4Ghz

Noticed that on my 12.2 with the latest FW the high wifichannels 11,12 and 13 are not availble to connect with my router My note 4 doesnt have that problem Finds my router on channel 13 without any problem.
Is this hardware and normal. And is there a way to have those channels availble

Are you in the US? If so, then channels 12 and higher are not "technically" available in your area, they are for non-US applications. Some firmwares restrict higher certain based on channel and some do not. If you are ine US, then then you should set your router to use a channel between 1-11 for best compatibility, if you are outside the US where these channels are used, make sure you have all your regional settings correct and the ROM version is correct for your region.

I am from Holland [The Netherlands] Its the Dutch stockrom witch is only rooted. I was aware of what you wrote that indeed in the US you cant go higher then channel 11
So i was thinking is this a hardware problem? Firmware problem? Kernel problem?
Well its not really a problem but the lower channels are full with other users so I was thinking i use the 12 or 13 as i do on my Note 4... But the Note 12.2 cant..

This would be a firmware issue, I would contact Samsung support via the web.

What ROM should I use? (Can I have GSM or not?)

I have the Xoom MZ605. So it's an Everest. Right? However...
I've seen descriptions such as:
MZ601 = Xoom 3G + Wifi Europe model and it's called "Everest"
MZ600 = Xoom 3G + Wifi Verizon US model called "Stingray"
etc.
And I've seen people say that Wingray and Stingray will work on the MZ605, except I will have no 3G.
Well, question #1:
My unit does have a SIM card slot. I was even required to insert one before I could use the unit for the first time. After that, it was not required anymore. But the official firmware (upgraded OTA once to 4.0.4 by Motorola) never had any phone application, neither can I use the SIM card to have wireless internet. So I've been using WiFi only for years. Can I have mobile phone and internet connectivity with a CM firmware? Does this unit even have a GSM radio?
question #2:
There are too many CM firmwares and I am confused. Which ones would suit me? I've read somewhere that 4.4.4 is too slow and unstable, same as CM 11, and that CM 10 is recommended instead. But that page is 2 years old and things may have changed. Which ones do not cause any problem? I really need all the hardware features except HDMI.
TIA
No one is here now. I've been looking for a light weight firmware to use but these tablets are to old now

5Ghz Hotspot Problem

Hi everyone,
First, i want to precise that i'm French, can be a useful information about my region.
So, i think the issue started since Pie.
While performing a 5Ghz hotspot, i can't find it. After a hard reset, the first one showed up. But i couldn't connect and after, it disappeared.
Absolutely no issues on the 2.4Ghz.
Can't solve the problem... anyone has an idea ?
Thanks !
I have the same problem in Italy
Same in Italy too!
So... Maybe a EU problem ?
Yes same issue in UK.
Oneplue 6
Sometime, I got same issue in Thailand
I use 10 times, got problem 4 times
With 2.4Ghz always work.
Same here but it happens on both 5 and 2.4 Ghz
(Sweden)
Same here.
US 6t. Seems to have been after the latest update today.
Reboot fixes 5ghz for a short while before it disappears.
2.4ghz appears to be ok.
