[Q]Play Store No Connection - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
On my XT926 I already had an unloked BL prior to KK BL. I went a head and did the upgrade so I could continue using CM11 nightlies but my play store will not connect. I've tried full wipes, every Gapps available with both TWRP and CWM. I've checked the host file and wiped the dalvik and data many times over... I also tried every Rom that supports the new bootloader with no luck, but the stock Rom it works just fine. Anyone have any other suggestions that I may have no thought of?
I also checked the clocks and they are all good to go. I went ahead and downgraded back to 3.0, and now I'm not able to connect to the play store there either. I've tried every rom and gapps with no luck.... could this be from deep dark setting or a HW issue, which I would find hard to believe? I'm stuck now on the factory ROM...
well you dont really give much info to go on....my guess your Google Play services is jacked up. Settings - Apps - Google Play services, clear cache and Manage space and clear everything. then reboot, you could do a cache and dalvik wipe, and then reboot and try again.
Basically no matter what kernel or Rom I am on other than stock I can't connect to the play store. I've tried every gapps available including clearing the cache and manage space... this has really tripped me up.

Where your Google account is set up, can you at least get Gmail to sync, etc? Or, is that hosed up as well? In fact, did you even set up your Google account on your phone? I'm assuming you have, but just want to make sure.
Yes everything works fine and connects... Just the play store doesn't
Sorry to revisit this but I still haven't found a solution to my problem. The screenshots below are the issues I have found. The first one shows "Location Reporting Not available in this region" I live in the U.S. so I'm not sure why I'm getting this. The second one, I am unable to turn on as well. The last one is what I get no matter what I tried. I'm good at following instructions and would consider myself very knowledgeable with my phone. As I stated in previous post, I only get these problems with custom ROMs, no matter what ones or what gapps I use. The screen shots are from CM11. If there is any info someone could use to help me, please let me know.

Okay, just to be sure we have all our ducks in a row, could you be so kind and give us an answer to each question below?
What is the full name of the CM11 zip file you flashed.
What is the full name of the gapps zip file you flashed
What recovery are you using (CWM or TWRP) and it's version
Also, are you doing any type of restore of the apps from a backup (such as TiBu)? If so, do NOT restore system apps nor their settings, which includes play services, play store, etc, especially if you backed them up under stock.
I just want to make sure you are flashing the correct ROMs for the correct phone as well as the correct GAPPs and using the correct recovery. You've never stated exactly which CM11 you are using, nor which GAPPs or which recovery you've used, so I want to get to the simple things first. It might help, it might not, but it's a start.
Sometimes, the simplest things are the answer to the problem at hand. After 20+ years in the IT industry, even to this day, I still seem to always look for the hard answer rather than the simple one when troubleshooting bugs and other issues with applications and systems.

the 4.4.4 may be your issue. I could not get any 4.4.4 gapps to work with CM11.
Go get this gapps and flash it -> http://itvends.com/gapps/gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip
I don't know if you'll need to wipe and reflash CM11 or not. You could try flashing gapps over the other gapps you have installed and it should work. If not, you might need to factory data reset your phone via TWRP (wipe cache, dalvik, system, data) and then reflash CM11 and the gapps I pointed you to.
it works fine for me, play store and all.

Did you ever try the gapps I linked to? If so, the only thing I can think of is your Google Play account is borked some how and I doubt you'll get much help from Google since you're using a custom ROM.
Also, are you restoring your google play app settings from a backup as well? If so, don't. Just install gapps, register your Google account and then see if that works before installing any other apps from backups. Do NOT restore anything from a backup yet.

Yes I tried the one you linked to. All my installs have been fresh clean installs. I just use my backup to make my phone usable while trying to figure this strange issue out. I also created a new google account to see if it was an account issue but it also had the same problem.

Then I'm confused as to what the issue may be then. Very strange. As long as you are not restoring anything from backup until after you've tested your Google Play account, then I have no answer to your issue. I feel bad that we can't help you any further. It's just weird and I've never heard nor seen this happen before, at least not where it was unsolvable, but at this point, I have no earthly idea what is going and why it only works for you under stock but not custom ROMs.
UPDATE: As I think about this, and it might not have anything to do with your issue, but under custom ROMs that are AOSP-based, I am not able to stream any of my videos I've purchased via the Google Play Store, at least, I can't stream them (or watch downloaded videoes) on my phone directly.
However, I can stream them to my Google Chromecast with no issue. It's just watching them directly on my phone that I cannot do. YouTube works fine, as does Vudu, Netflix, etc. Only Google Play Movies will not stream directly on my phone, unless I'm on stock. Not sure if this is some copy-protection or something else? I've tried CM11 as well as Gummy and it doesn't work on either ROM.
So, maybe there is something to this? I have yet to find anyone else that has tried to watch a movie/video that is available via Google Play. If someone could try it (there are some free videos you can get via Google Play Movies/TV) and see if it works for you under CM11, that would be great.
I have no issue going to Google Play, purchasing apps, music and movie/videos. My apps and music play just fine, but I cannot stream videos directly to my phone (nor on my Nexus 7 table that is also currently running CM11).

[Q] Issues with Google Play
Hello, I am looking for some asisstance - and in a hurry because i am trying to get my tablet updated before i leave on a flight tomorrow and this is driving me insane. I have a p5113 with CM10.1 installed on my tablet. (for p5110). I cannot download anything from the google play store -- can't update apps, nothing. I have tried reinstalling two different roms to see if that was the issue, I've cleared the data from the google service framework, google play store, google play services, downloads, download manager and then rebooting. I've tried two different networks. I can download other .apks normal, and I can use my browser just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would going back to stock even help? I tried going to stable releases, but that didn't work either.
Go to settings, remove google account. Then Try wiping the data for google play services and google play again. Then reboot to recovery. Wipe cache and dalvik cache. Reboot and see if it works. Btw when you flshed your gapps did you verify the md5 first? sent from MY BAD A$$ ET4G

I think I may have pinpointed the issue. So my phone updates fine on 3g, but when i switch to wifi, it doesn't work. It does the same thing as tablet. I read something on a website about about there being issues for someone as a DNS problem. The only thing is that when I tried to use my phone as a hotspot using 3G, it still didn't work on my tablet. arrrggg i don't know. restore didn't work.
[Q] Never Works
So I've been trying to install CM10 on my Verizon Galaxy S3 and after the past 5 times, it will never fully work. I've been flashing gapps like everyone says and still nothing. Each time I will restore my apps+data with Titanium Backup Pro and while it does restore, none of my media elements will work. My contacts do not work, cannot open my gallery and so on. This is quite frustrating because I would really like to use CyanogenMod. I do the standard wipe data/factory rest every time before I try and flash the ROM again and still nothing. Any insight on my problem would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more info on how I've been going about all this just ask.
Have you checked the md5? If so, you might want to try a fresh install of the apps instead of a TiBu backup.
How would I go about checking the MD5 file. I know what it is of course but I'm just foggy on how to check it. And do you mean a fresh install with flashing gapps then using my Play Store account to just re download them?
Hashdroid in the market can check your MD5. Yes he meant let the play store reinstall your apps or do it manually yourself through the play store. Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
[Q] Play Store Error on Lollipop
I'm running DH's Lollipop ROM and the Play store has been giving me -505 errors when I try to install certain applications. It is not during the download period, just when the app attempts to install itself. This happens with APKs as well. Is it an issue of Lollipop compatibility? I'm trying to download Chronus in particular.

Update: After allowing the phone to settle and updates Apps ran into quite an issue. Google Play Services crashes non-stop. Hangouts crashes when attempting to open any conversation type. Essentially 9/10 apps failed within a few minutes or immediate usage. I did all the obvious things like clear cache, reboot, clear delvik, reboot, etc. Even non-dependant apps like XDA were crashing. Its a really good start. Lollipop looks beautiful. I really cant wait for this to be a daily driver. Went back to CM11-M12. I did back it up after it was installed so if you need any version numbers etc I can hop back into it and help you debug some things. Just installed this. Everything regarding the install went fine. Am currently restoring apps but will keep this thread updated on how everything goes, usage, bugs, etc. One Mini, S-OFF, Hboot 2.21, Unlocked, ATT
I flashed according to directions listed above and it installed fine. My problem is that I couldn't make phone calls. I could receive calls but if I tried calling out, I got a "call not sent" error. I was able to get it working off and on by removing/reinserting my sim card (T-Mobile) and forcing it to register with the network. I noticed it became more sluggish over the day and like someone else mentioned, some of the apps would either fc or android would restart completely. It's beautiful when it's working....I'm definitely onboard once it's ready! :fingers-crossed::good:

Click to collapse Uh...What makes you think I didn't do a clean install? Wiped everything three times in a row. Formatted data even before I installed. Including internal storage. And my TWRP is the latest. I understand you supposedly don't have issues, however a poster above me confirms he/she also suffered from FCs all over the place and calls not being sent. I don't really think your post adds anything to the conversation. If you're having zero problems it would be better to inform us of how you achieved that end result rather than assuming my install wasn't clean. This is not my first rodeo. I've been at this since the first Gnex. So when I see posts that make assumptions and don't actually add to the conversation and go against what the trending census appears to be I get a little sensitive. You're clearly in the minority as more have reported so far of having problems with FCs and calls not sending than not. So give us your setup. Give us the steps you took when installing to receive the same end result. Rather than making baseless assumptions and adding noise to the thread.
hello Mattplo my intention was to help, I'm not a pro . you are a little aggressive in your reply. so the steps are : Full wipe (Dalvik Cache, Cache, System, Factory Data Reset) Flash Candy5.zip wipe cache and dalvik cache. reboot the phone after first boot flash Gapps. One Mini, S-OFF, Hboot 2.22, Unlocked. here is a vid from my phone while testing hangout and xda Sent from my One Mini using XDA Free mobile app
@malikou, I understand your intention was to help. However it was anything but helpful. Let's keep the assumptions to a low. Your install procedure it identical for the most part as mine. However I also wiped internal storage and moved over the files via ADB and md5sum them. Obviously I did factory reset x3 and then manually wiped x3. As this is IMO the best way to do things. Its a bit anal but ice been around a long time and this method never fails to get a good wipe. Might I remind you that this ROM worked flawlessly. Until I allowed apps to upgrade. I.e. Google Play Services, Maps, Hangouts etc. This is when things began to fail miserably. After the updates. I then proceeded to wipe cache(in storage) reboot to recovery, wipe dlvik wipe cache, reboot. Same end result. Apps are no stable. Calls can not be made along with the camera being really underperforming. I'm glad you've managed to install a flawlessly working system, however others of us can't. Did you update google play services? Maps, hangouts etc

Click to collapse Did you update your devices applications, including, Play Store, Play Services etc, and then try to use your phone normally? Further more are you able to make phone calls via native dialer without them failing? You seem to have some unicorn install that others can't obtain. Or you're not exactly being genuine. On a straight clean install this rom works perfectly. Minus the outgoing cals issue which is just a known fact/bug. However once the user updates key components like Google Play Services, The App store, etc everything goes to ****.
lolipop Have just installed as per OP and so far so good not yet experiencing call or fc problems,I noticed that the phone was like starting with a new out of the box once the ROM was installed so I think if you don't get this you need to re do a CLEAN install. Thanks for the work and delivering this ROM I will update if I get issues but nso far all is looking good

You just like the last guy, jumped "du clean install makes world perfect!!111 great ROM!!!111" Allow me to reiterate: Advaned wipe+delvik, cache, system, data, internal storage. Now rinse and repeat that twice which should equate to 3xs. Now for added benefit I did "Format Data", twice. I then porceesed to move over Candy5 ROM with the gapps linked to directly from parents thread. Installed all three back to back. ROM first, flash gapps, flash susperu. Then wipe delvik cache along with cache and reboot. Now mind you, I moved all these files over ADB once I was fully formatted and then ran an md5sum against them to match. They matched flawlessly. End result = unstable applications after updating play services and play store. These apps range from Instagram to XDA, from Maps to Hangouts. And native call dialer doesn't work. Noe I'm sure the next post will ve some other random stoog saying " omg! ROM works so well!!!11 do Clean install perfect!!!". Or something to that affect. But thanks anyway.

However I rely on double tap yo wake and I use my back button(long press=go to sleep, don't be tap back key components=recent, double tap home =menu, tap home =home, long press home =google now. Seeing as candy5 doesn't allow me to do any of that due to no exposed installer. Until these are implemented Candy5 won't be my daily driver. But I will hop in and out of it for testing. Oh and capacitive logo button support+overclocking would be a dream come true. I'd ditch CM in a heartbeat.

Facebook not able to install, error -504
Hey guys and gals I've been fighting with this issue for a while and can't seem to find a way to fix it. I'm running the newest nightly for CM12 via safestrap and I've done a complete wipe and fresh install and I still can't install facebook. Tried clearing the data and cache from the google apps that were recommended via other threads. This morning I did an entire wipe, installed stock, rooted, installed Facebook successfully, then installed Safestrap, made a new slot, installed CM, and facebook fails on install. Tried installing via Playstore as well as manually with the APK and both fail basically the same way though when doing the APK it doesn't give the 504 error. So I'm hoping someone out there has another idea of something to try, in the interim I've been running Facebook lite, which works but notifications are unstable for me. It would be easier if I could run the normal app but it's been fighting me at every turn. Thanks Luke
Did you try pasting the .APK directly in /data/app and setting appropriate permissions?
Alright I figured I'd come back to this since I did end up finding a solution. I didn't try pasting the APK direct since I had read of some issues with guys doing that and having to wipe the device and I didn't want to have to do that. So I ended up using Titanium backup to backup the copy from the stock rom install that was working, and then restore it into the CM12 install and it worked. Wouldn't update via Play Store but it did work to get a functional install. So if other guys find this thread down the road, this might be a way to make it work. Take care! Luke
I don't know why it wasn't working when you tried to install the apk, but sometimes happened to me something similar. I wasn't able to install any app from the PS, it always trow me an error, I don't remember the exact number, but if it wasn't 504, is really close. The only workaround was to delete my Google account and format data, and when it turned on I skipped the Google first startup wizard and went straight to the play store, and when it prompted to log on, I did and worked flawless. Glad to know that you already fixed it, but this workaround may help someone else Enviado desde mi RAZR HD mediante Tapatalk
