Screen scratches - Samsung Gear 2

I have had a Gear 2 for a few weeks. I did not get a screen protector for it. I figured I'd see how that Gorilla Glass fares. Well, I now have very visible scratches on the glass on my Gear 2. I can live with it. But at the my current rate of scratch accumulation, I might get to a point where they'd start annoying me. Is the glass easily replaceable?

I just got a nice scratch in mine as well. Not happy with that. All the screen protectors I tried just get caught in something and then peel off. Sucks. Wish there was tempered glass for it

I currently have a ZAGG Invisibleshield on my gear 2 neo and haven't had a problem with anything yet besides it having the orange peel look on it. I work in a cemetery so it does get banged around here and there. ZAGG also warranties there product if you have any problem with it they'll send you another one.

link it plzz to purchase it

It's really hard to scratch the Gear 2 glass IMO. If you are in the kind of job that will be a hazard to the Glass on the Gear 2, I'd leave it in a safe place and put it on when safe or going out. We won't treat a Rolex the same way, so why the Gear 2.
I ordered the Skinomi full body protection from the US..... but hasn't arrived as yet even though we are next door in Canada....It's now 8 days and no delivery. I can see from the USPS Tracking number that it has left the factory, possibly left the US for Canada...so it's somewhere in Canada.
Postage from Skinomi sucks IMO....but looking forward to try the product so that I don't scratch my Gear 2.
I'm wearing it everyday and some nights to sleep so that it can track my sleeping pattern... no scratches as yet.
I put Scotch Tape over the band Clasp as that was developing hairline scratches. It has stopped due to the Scotch Tape.

I have a Skinomi skin on my waych and its fantastic. It even hides the scratches somehow. You get 6 cover in the pack and I've had one on now for 4 months and its still perfect after a few bumps and bangs. I work in the Police so it does get quite a few knocks.

Received my Skinomi full body armour last week. I stuck on a few pieces then decided to take it off. My Gear 2 ln my opinion looks awesome the way it is.
I did however, put on the clear screen over the glass. This works fine and looks ok.
I will continue to put Scotch Tape over the watchband Clasp as necessary. Works fine.

Spigen
3 for about £9 i bought mine direct.
In short i made the usual mess installing mine, finger prints, bubbles, total disaster and slightly misalignment.
Anyway I smoothed out what i could and as per the instructions left it.
After about 2 days a near PERFECT application, so aside from being a very minor misalignment - its the best screen protector i have tried.

edge to edge screen protector

If anyone gets a nice clear edge to edge of entire glass screen protector please share link.
I don't want the ones you apply with water because over time adhesive attracts dust & dirt.
EZGUARDZ go edge-to-edge, and can be applied w/o water. However, they suggest (and I followed) using water to get a clean set up.

down8: thanks ordered one exactly what I was looking for...
KRAZYADROIDMASTER: thanks but no those mirror ones drive me crazy.
I'm wondering how the dry apply will do over time. The curved glass is making me wait and definitely consider a wet apply instead.
Please post how these are when you get them.
I have a ClearFreak. Edge to Edge w/ water application, but super easy. Just google clearfreak and you will find it. They also make a clear protector for the back if you don't want a case.
Try seidoonline.com under lg optimus 2x. Can't wait untill the cases are available!

I ordered the Seido Crystal Clear Screen protector. It looks like it is going to cover the entire screen. I have had great success with their products in the past, so I am hoping for some good results with this. It is currently being shipped, so I am hoping to have it by the end of the week.

So does PhantomSkinz. Gave me 2 full sets of body shields that covers all the aspects on the phone. It says to use water but I never do, came out nice and clean.

I asked for a screen protector that doesn't use water. I ordered EZGUARDZ because down8 brought it up. It was $3.99 free shipping comes with 5 pcs.
I tried first piece dry, did not look good was not clear no matter how much you work it out with a little rubber squeegee. Took it off, threw 1st piece away and used 2nd piece with a water spray bottle i had from a past zagg shield install.
Once it dried next day it looked really good, no orange peel look like zagg shield back then... i'll rock it until i find a dry static cling because dry static cling has superb clarity, you can't even tell it's on the phone.
I'm sure this EZGUARDZ over time will attract lint and dust over time on it's edges. I have a rubber silicone case over it so it may help with lint/dust.
Do we really need one? Isn't it Gorilla Glass?

Thanks for posting that. It seems like we won't be able to get a perfect screen protector LOL. Dry ones are the best, I agree, but the curved edges make it difficult. And even if the wet apply ones do apply better they will attract dust around the edges.
I guess it's all trade-offs.
i wish i hadn't bought the ones from tmobile they have a smudge resistant finish it makes it very hard to read through

That's what I'm wondering... This phone uses Gorilla glass I don't know if its worth getting a screen protector
I had an Evo for about a year, so did my daughter. Both has Gorilla Glass, never had a screen protector on either and never any scratches at all.
I always set mine down, screen side down so I wouldn't scratch the back
So, no need for a screen protector in my opinion. But, that's just how I am rolling with mine.
Some may not need it. Some people just want it. I, myself, always had it on my iPhones and my previous SGS2. I like the texture, I have better control since the glass is a bit too slippery. The ZAGG also bumps up color and contrast (imo, you can tell the difference on my iPhones). Those are my reasons.
Also gorilla glass doesn't mean its indistructable. It may survive keys in a purse but not from drops or things being dropped on it.
ordered one also
Have not received. A bit worried it will distort the screen clarity. Anyone get one on yet? I have had the captivate and moto phones and all have had Gorilla Glass but I always used a screen protector. Usually use best skins ever but they are not out yet. Used code ZAGG20 on checkout and took 3 off.
Yea, they're very nice (my opinion). I haven't see any discoloration in the last 2-3 years with Zagg. The image quality is crystal clear. And my touches register much more than without it. I guess I have very dry finger tips.
I've seen the zagg only once a long time ago. Does it still have that bumpy orange peel texture?

Nope. Haven't seen that in a few years. If it was changing colors, one should've done a warranty replacement.

You wet the screen a little and it allows you to slide the zagg around to align it

I used to swear by them but after awhile I got sick of lint sticking to parts of it that would come up a little. Plus I prefer a naked screen feel and just a think case for the back now. Might get one though just for the backside until a good matte case is available.
if I install 1 and let's say like 3 months later I don't like it,is it easy to remove the shield and liquid and bring it back to normal?

Any problems with Gorilla glass?
I was told that with Gorilla glass the use of a screen protector may make it difficult for the screen protector to stick.
I find this hard to believe since it should stick to any glass. At the mall the sales guy actually told me to pass on this because Gorilla glass has a chemical breakdown that is different than normal glass.
That may be true but- but has anyone had a problem before with InvisibleShield on a phone with Gorilla glass?

*ATT S4 demo unit, bunch of micro scratches

I went an ATT store to get a new SIM card and I had a look at the white s4 they had on display. The unit was next to bright light source and it was super sunny outside. I reflected light into screen and there were quite a few micro scratches on the screen. Wiped it several times and the scratches didnt move or fade the slightest bit. Not surprised. So the same story goes for Gorilla Glass 3, the glass is strong, the oleophobic coating will micro scratch. You see a scratch test videos on youtube for every new phone release showing how it doesnt get scratched....dont believe the hype.....that coating can get scratched. Get a screen protector if you are OCD about the screen. Sorry for the PSA....but I know a "oh no, my month old S4 is scratched" will come soon.
Oh i know this would happen lol. I'm ordering a screen protector this weekend. If its glass, it will scratch, there is no way around it.

I go through this cycle when I first get a device where I buy screen protectors and cases like a madman (eventually settling on one case and removing the SP), but I refuse to dump cash into screen protectors again. I won't put those garbage plastic protectors ones on my phone; they degrade the quality and experience severely. Plus, what if I have a warranty issue and have a glass protector installed. There goes $50 ($35 + replacement of $15) and that is assuming I don't mess up the install.
I'm attempting to go easy on this one, folks.

Micro scratches come even if you go easy. I had a GS2 that got scratched on day 2 from the studs on the sides of my jeans pocket! My BB playbook.....yup im a one of those suckers.....got scratched from a wipe with a microfiber cloth ( probably had sand on it). I like to just be able to wipe my phone on my shirt without caring whats on it and put throw it in my pocket. Im willing to sacrifice some screen smoothness/more glare for that. Ive always had good results with Spigen ultra crystal protectors and ghost armor. Very little image degradation.

Maybe I'm one of the few and proud smartphone owners who never get scratches on the screen, better yet I have never even dropped a smartphone (4 years & running)... No case & SP for me, I don't need it (or want it). As for my friends & family... they need cases built like a tank.
My phones are always naked.. No case, no screen protectors and no problems..

the thing is these scratches can only be seen in super bright light and in direct sunlight and only in certain angles...that's why they are called microscratches
every phone developes them after some use.....it's just a matter of if you notice them or not

I agree. But I always buy a minimalistic case at first. Usually it's TPU. Something cheap but thin. Then I'll free it once in a while. The screen for this phone is $335. A $6 case was an easy decision

I was in Best Buy today looking for a case and noticed the micro scratches on another S4 so I bought a screen protector. I almost bought the S View case but wasn't impressed with the amount of protection. I also thought they would have made the cover magnetic so that it wouldn't just blow open on the way to the ground. Ended up buying a bulkier case than I like. Last year I dropped my GS3 on the second day I owned it and chunked the corner of phone. I find that with new phones you tend to drop more because you are always holding it versus it being in your pocket after you are bored/used to it.
I'm pretty bad about noticing any type of scratch on my screen. I have insurance on my phone, with a case and screen protector (Zagg HD) at all times.
People abuse demo units like crazy. I witnessed a guy purposefully scratching at the screen with his keys when no employees were looking to see if it scratched easily

I think if they do, even the glass protector would need to have curve. 2.5D display of Note4/5 or edge display of the Edge variant wouldn't be covered completely otherwise. And even if they come up with something like that, I would assume the price would be too high..
I hope skinomi makes this for the edge +

Looks nice but no brand name to research reviews to see how it well it covers so 25 from a unnamed company that ships directly from China is definitely too much!
Plus paying $25 and you may get the screen protector between now and Halloween.
I got the skinomi screen protector. I guess this is the best selling on amazon for this phone, but i dont recommend it. There are plastic indentations of on the screen, its wet install so no bubble, but its a nightmare to install, cos even if u wet install it, and squeeze out the water with a squeezee, the skin wont stay on the screen.

Waiting for spigen or some other known brand to come up with a curved tampered glass screen protector.
I figured $25 to protect my $850 phone until a better cheaper version is available was worth the chance to me. Trust me I wish there were more options but that is not the case right now

Finally, it will come out with perfect match to the edge+ or something.
The one I ordered shipped today. I also noticed a bunch of new people selling similar tempered glass edge to edge protectors on ebay.
I've also ordered Skinomi and yes,it's wet install and kind of tricky but luckily I was able to have a successful install. It's kind of soft and rubbery feel, but not much that cause worry or distraction. I'm actually loving it.
I've got the same one (skinomi) on my phone. Installation was a breeze. No bubbles or peelings, but I do hate the fact that there are some dust on the edges of the screen protector, none on the screen tho. I also hate the rubbery feeling, but for now it will have to do until I can get my hands on the tempered sp. I almost always go with the Zagg tempered glass, since it features a lifetime warranty.

I would have to Agree i used the Skinomi on my Note 4 edge ,most people couldn't believe I had a screen protector on it it was that hard to see, and the curve on the note4 edge is a lot more of and angle .........just my 2 cent's , just a tip for those that are using any type of wet application I would suggest you get a bowl , like a large salad bowl fill it half way with water and then add a few drop's of dish detergent not too much , it allow's you to get your finger's and the screen protector evenly wet and if you see a hair or a piece of dirt or whatever just pull it off submerge the screen protector to get what ever that was either on the screen or on the protector or the screen and start over again , ever since I saw this tip from somewhere here on XDA it's never failed three different phones and perfection ..........:good:
I just put on the techfilm dry install and it wouldn't show in a picture that's how thin it is. No bubbles full coverage, had to use a flashlight to make sure it was on. Best protector I've ever used on any phone. Oh and no rubber feeling like I've heard about others

Accessories The best screen protector secured at last!

After many months of scouring the internet and more money spent than I'd like to admit, I have finally found what I would consider a better screen protector than even the OEM installed one from Samsung. I have tried close to 10 different protectors for my Z-Flip 3 and they all were relatively disappointing when comparing to Samsung's OEM film. They ranged from horrible to acceptable but still not ideal. Most Amazon sellers (even the top rated films) fail where you'd expect it to fail, the hinge, and it seemed all but impossible to achieve the results the phone comes with new. That is, until I got my hands on whitestone's new premium DOME SILK(UTG) film. This guy is actually superior to the OEM film and outclasses it in every way. The feel is fantastic, the clarity is perfect and the most important part is the hinge adhesion, which is every part as good as the OEM one. With the installation jig that is included with the dome film, I got a perfect install on my first try without a single bubble or blemish even across the hinge. So long as you watched the install video which you have to scan a QR code on the box to access, the install is extremely smooth. It's nerve-racking at first but extremely doable. When adhering the hinge area, I highly recommend you go as slow as possible with the squeegee to ensure no bubbles in the area that dips. Anyway I won't make this any longer, I just wanted to let everyone else know that if you want and OEM+ screen protector for your z flip 3 you should absolutely buy the Whitestone dome silk film the first time instead of wasting money on films that bubble up after one or two folds or that feel like hot garbage.
I'll second these products. Recently purchased as the OEM screen protector started to develop cracks at the hinge (lemme tell you how freaked out I was until I realized it was the protector and not the actual screen). Install was easy and the jig is clever and effective, just MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS.
No issues with the product so far and perfect adhesion.

I've had mine installed for almost two weeks now. I feel like if it hasn't started lifting yet, chances are that it won't.

I live in the northeast, 2 hours from Canada so yes, it's been between 5°- 25° consistently. I will say that I am conscious about the cold and generally try not to flip the phone open if I've been outside for a while because of the horror stories I've heard about displays cracking when opening in extreme cold.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to get a picture of it installed because my only other phone is a galaxy S9+ with a cracked camera lens. I tried taking a pic with my surface pro 4 but it's so grainy it's impossible to make out. I can tell you that visually, it's identical to the oem. Size and finish are the same, it's when you touch it that you realize how much better it is than the oem. Just picture the stock screen protector but slightly slightly shinier.
So here's an update, yesterday I got a new case, one of the full protection cases that have a hinge shield built in and after using the case yesterday and waking up this morning, I found that the entire portion of the screen protector that conforms to the hinge lifted from the screen. Now, I'm not sure what the culprit was, comma if it was somehow the new case that caused this or if it was just a screen protector itself But I have another backup backup screen protector that I am going to put on after work today work today and use it with my old case to verify if the case caused this problem or not. I personally don't see how it's possible that the case caused it to lift but I can't deny The significance of it lifting within 24 hours of putting a new case on. To me, it looks like the protector almost shrank a little and contracted which caused it to lift in the area with the most pressure which would be the hinge because of the curves but I will verify this and I will update this post with the results.
It's been 4 days since installing the replacement film I had and it's already holding up much better than the first. The first lasted only 48hrs before the whole hinge lifted up. I installed this one a little different. First, when using the squeegee to adhere the film, I used much more pressure and slid it much slower (especially around the hinge area). Next, when it was finished being installed, I opted to not close the display for a full 24hrs to allow the adhesive to set and the film to "lock" to the shape of the display. Call it a curing time if you will. I also used my variable temperature heat gun set to its lowest temperature (350°f) and warmed the film mostly around the hinge while using my thumb to apply pressure back and forth. The purpose of the heat was to mock heat cycling the film and further set it to the display. All of these steps combined resulted in a perfect application again but now 4 days later in the same 15-30°f ambient temp I have no lifting at all and no signs of any adhesion issues. This will be my last post on this topic unless it fails in an unreasonable amount of time as there's nothing else I can do to install it and better and at that point I would deem it a bad product. For now I stand by it being the best aftermarket film for this phone.
I've just bought it and it should arrive on 3rd of march. I was wondering if it comes with a glass already installed and, since I am in love with Tough Armour cover of Spigen, glass screen protectors ( even of the little screen ) would be compatible with spigens cover.

No glass interior, but Spigen sells an outer protector perfectly fit to their cases. It's held up pretty well and covers the camera lenses without ruining the pictures.

Tough Armour arrived, Optik Lens Protector arrived, tomorrow hopefully the phone will arrive too
Arrived. Everything is ok but the film on the screen. The feeling is tremendous yet they tell you not to remove it. Wtf?
Is fitting a glass over it a possible solution?
I just tried the Whitestone Premium,,, what a waste of time. Got it on with no bubbles. Let it sit for 5 minutes just to make sure. Went over it again. Still lifted at the crease as soon as I flipped it closed. Reseated 2 more times, immediately lifts as soon as I close it. Anybody got any other protectors that will actually stay on the crease???

Hi,
Did you apply it correctly?
I had the same problem and then i noticed that i accidently applied the screen protectors protector
It is very easy to make that mistake. You have to read the instruction very carefully and really look that you are applying the correct part. I learned it the hard way. Bought a new one and got it applied correctly.
Now, it will not lift off, it's stuck to the screen very firmly for over 4 months now with no problem.

I applied it with the jig, the right way and still got it wrong...
cuz if you get it right, it should stick and stay with no problems.
On the film there is 3 layers of plastic, two have to be removed. the real protector is like sandwiched in between 2 protective films.
Just a heads up.
