[KERNEL][M7C] HTC One Dual SIM (802W, 802D and 802T variants) - One (M7) Android Development

Introduction:
This project will focus on the development of kernel for HTC One Dual SIM (M7C). There is now a release for each variant: 802W (M7CDUG), 802D (M7CDWG) and 802T (M7CDTU).
The aim is to provide a stable kernel and complement it with wake features (S2W / DT2W / L2W), at least for now. Wake support is based on code developed by @flar2 for ElementalX kernel, so main credits to him.

Notes
As you all have noticed, after flashing any custom boot and / or recovery image, a red warning during boot phase appears on phone screen. This was not a really big deal when splash logo only showed the HTC logo. But now it, after Sense 6.0 update, splash logo was updated and not only shows the same HTC logo but also "Powered by Android" logo at the bottom and the red warning is placed all over it. The trick to get rid of that is to flash a modified HBOOT, but one should take into account a very important premise: never turn S-ON without reverting to stock HBOOT, otherwise phone will be bricked!!!.
The attachment contains the most recent package containing a HBOOT flashable .zip.

Will there be L2M (Logo to menu) also?

In the current version that I'm testing, L2M was already supposed to be supported, but I can't get it to work. Don't know why.
On the other hand, wake gestures are working flawlessly and can be easily configured via Sense 6 Toolbox or Wake Gestures.

Thx, i can't test right now , im on vacantion. Keep do that great work.
Sent from my hTc One DualSim 802w

Cant test it as of this moment. I dont have an pc access.. Will report once i flashed it
Sent from mobile

Confirming all functions working on custom ROM. Great work, thanx.

Thanks for the feedback. So, the tests throughout the day went fine and a beta release was just uploaded. Refer to the first post to know what's new. Wake Gestures can be configured via Sense 6 Toolbox or Wake Gestures and override traditional sweep2wake or doubletap2wake.

That's correct. Stock modules are loaded as far as kernel version number remains the same. The problem I was having was that I was patching kernel to newer versions. If I want to do it in the future, wlan driver has to be included in the sources, so that a new module is also compiled.

I know that. you can also hex those ko's vermagic number to achieve the same thing. The problem is that I compiled with the same kernel version as the one in chinese 802w, and I still can't get wlan.ko loaded.
dmesg shows this:
disagrees about version of symbol module_layout
I think it's related to crc checking, but this commit just doesn't help:
https://github.com/flar2/ElementalX-evita-8.0/commit/db72716cfdf7fcee9dc5236996d14e52c8cf8bf9

Well, as I don't know what you are trying to accomplish I can't help you.

you may encounter the same if you add more patches, etc, as long as CRC numbers are different. so the only way to solve this permanently is to find out how to bypass CRC check for prima_wlan.ko

If you need, prima_wlan drivers source code can be found here. Let me know if you manage to include it in the kernel sources. So far, I haven't been able to get it done.

First off all - thanx for your work.
Do you plan to add some governor (lulzactive, intellidemand,smartass2...) and I/O Scheduler (fipos, sio ...) in future?

First off - thanks for getting into this, frankly these features are the only stuff worth rooting my 802w...
Will there eventually be these:
Disabling volume buttons unless media is playing?
wake/sleep via VOL- button?
double tap home for menu even on the home? as the prism menu in Viper ROM?
long press home for slashlight, again as the Viper ROM has?
Thanks a million!

Long press logo (not home) for flashlight is already possible with Wake Gestures. Install Sense 6 Toolbox and you'll be able to assign many actions to double tap, swipe (down, up, right and left) and logo long press.
Also, wake up via volume buttons could be enabled without any kernel change using Sense 6 Toolbox. As for the other features, I'll see what can done.

bgcngm
can you make it for 802d pls?

Did you try to flash boot.img on your 802D? I can't actually test because I have 802W. I was curious to know if kernel works on all variants (W/D/T).

yours boot.img from download section to my 802d?
no... did not try.. i can try! - but kernels really identical for all dualsim? - I do not get a brick? )

You won't get a full brick. Phone may not boot and then, in such case, you just need to revert to 802D stock boot.img. Do you have stock boot.img for your device? Please post here so that I can have a look at ramdisk contents to see if it differs in any way to the one from 802W.

Hi.
Is this ROM multilang ? Does it include french translation ?
Is this thing stable enough for daily use? Btw thanks

[ROM] [LOLLIPOP] [LMY48G] [Synman's GwT ROM for Tilapia] [carcosa] [2015/07/03]

GwT is an experimental AOSP build for the N73G and N7LTE Nexus tablets for those wanting to stay as close to the intended Google Experience as possible.  SMS and MMS are fully functional as is tethering.  This ROM is slim with no bloat or non experience apps loaded and should serve well as a daily driver or as a base ROM for theming / framework hacks when the modder doesn't want to go through the trouble to create their own full build.
As with all things XDA, proceed at your own RISK.
FEATURES / HIGHLIGHTS
Pure AOSP (built from source) 5.1..1 [aosp_tilapia-user LMY48G]
Full Bluetooth LE (4.0) support
Reboot and Reboot Recovery options added to shutdown menu

Install Instructions (assumes already unlocked):
It is highly recommended that you start with a full wipe from a known good installation of the N73G stock binaries.
GwT RC1 (and older releases) requires a base install of JOP40D
GwT RC2 and RC3 require a base install of JDQ39
GwT RC4 and RC5 require a base install of JWR66V
GwT RC6 requires a base install of JWR66Y
GwT KRT16O requires a base install of KRT16O
GwT LRX22G requires a base install of KTU84P
GwT LMY48G requires a base install of LMY47V
Since RC1 I have converted to a CWM/TWRP Recovery based install.  Download the GwT zip file and place it in the root of your sdcard directory.  Boot into CWM or TWRP recovery, select the GwT zip file and allow it to install. Be sure to use the LATEST version of TWRP or CWM.
Once the install is complete if unsure of next steps or problems occur perform a Factory Reset of your N73G.
Reboot and allow GwT to fully boot.
Optionally, install the recommended Google Apps package referenced below.
These instructions are reiterated (with a little more detail) here.

thanks again, guess I should check out that mirror myself as my link eats away my origin bandwidth.
Also, I have what is likely to be my final release candidate ready for release. Network Location Services is fixed and I converted over to the tilapia device tree. I'll be uploading it in a little bit and will then be able to focus fully on (hopefully) getting a radio hack implemented.
Will likely not fix Camera Panorama considering that LegacyCamera (it's the camera I'm including) is more functional than any of the others out there currently.
First post cleaned up considerably and V3 added. androidfilehost was really quick to approve an account for me. No more origin leeches

If you do not know how to unlock the Nexus 7 boot loader and/or you do not have the Android SDK installed, please follow the directions here ([GUIDE] Flashing a Factory Image with fastboot / return to stock) and stop after step #3 in the "Flashing the Factory Image" section. You can also skip the steps for downloading the stock Nexus image.

I just flash this ROM and apparently completed successfully, but when I send the command "fastboot reboot" the tablet fails to boot, it freezes on the Google logo ...
Any suggestions?
Thanks and best regards,
Do a full factory flash then try again.

Indeed, from a stock rom clean, worked fine ... Is starting ...
Before I was doing from the MoDaCo Custom Rom JR3.
I'll try it and then posting my impressions ...
Thanks,
Sounds good. Try the referenced GAPPS pack too.

Maybe I'm just lazy, but will this be packed into the usual zip format to be flashed via recovery?
At some point you had fastboot configured and running
I'm sure I'll publish an update.zip at some point too... Very likely to be necessary if a radio is ever included.

Hey @spezi77 you're working hard on different kitkat roms which I find them all Identical, don't you think its better to provide one stable and complete rom instead of many different which all contain problems? I'm not here to disappoint you, but I think all these roms could be converted to each other by only some launchers and tweaks. I hope some day I can use one of your very best roms.
thanks indeed...

True words.. no worries, it's really hard to disappoint me.
Frankly, I am just learning about Android developments and versioning while looking for the most suitable and stable kk rom for my device. I enjoy the creative process of building roms -- especially by trying out different approaches, roms and kernel mods -- and sharing the results with you. There are a lot of dev teams out there borrowing features from each other -- giving their roms quite a similar feature set (why not?). But imho there are still noticeable differences! And even if we only talk about a specific look and feel or small innovations (have you ever seen Omni? sorry for OT).
With reference to the current bugs, you should not forget that most of them are common for all 4.x roms because they depend on the kernel.
However, enough said and I guess that by now you guys got really oversaturated! I will try my best to tone it down and focus on improving what is here!
Cheers!
I have different opinion on this. I agree that quality should be in favor over quantity.
We should be graceful @spezi77 bring us many choice to choose from, and then you can select the rom you like
and be more active in that thread, then natural selection will take it course.
@spezi77 I honor your overwhelming passion to the xda community and Desire, and your next great rom.

Installation Instructions
Download, install and configure ivanich's 2.8.7.0 TWRP recovery from here.
Download and install the unofficial ROM through recovery from here.
Download and install the latest of my GApps packages from here.
Download and install the TWRP version of my odex package if desired from here. This essentially puts the dalvik-cache of system apps in /system which saves you some space in /data and also speeds up initial boot.
General Q/A
Q: Why SlimKat?
A: It is a great ROM and is very well suited for older devices.
Q: Why another SlimKat thread?
A: This is my own build with parts from various kernels that I feel are beneficial to pyramid users. It most likely won't be as stable as the official builds and therefore needs a separate thread.
Q: You just said it most likely won't be as stable. Does that mean it's buggy?
A: I will not release a build that doesn't work for me. The sensation is my only device and this build will always be my daily driver.
Q: Why not work with dexter93 to make the official build better?
A: That is my intention. We will all benefit from your support and testing. Let us know what works and what doesn't. Then it can be pulled into the official branch.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enable root access?
System settings -> Developer options -> Root access
First set to Disabled (if not already) and then set to Apps only or Apps and ADB.
How do I change resolution/dpi/density?
Manual: With root explorer, edit /system/build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density=182 to ro.sf.lcd_density=240 and reboot.
App: Download Texdroider DPI from play store to change 182 to 240 and reboot. You can then uninstall the app.
How do I change CPU min/max speed, governors and IO schedulers?
Manual: With root explorer, edit /etc/init.d/89kernel init script (setting options are in the script).
App: Download Kernel Tuner from play store.
How do I submit a bugreport?
See the Slim website instructions here. Attach the report in this thread.
What firmware/radio should I use with this ROM?
For TMOUS try: 3.32.531.14 which comes with radio 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2
For non-TMOUS try 3.32/3.33 firmware and corresponding radios from: firmware and radios
Tips/Tricks
If you use google apps, install the biggest package that you need. You want to do this because those google apps will be installed into /system. I've seen many users talk about wanting the smallest gapps they can have and then downloading just what they need from the play store. This is not a good approach for our Sensation because we have a very large /system partition and a very small /data partition (by today's standards). So, a better approach would be to get the *full* gapps package and either remove the apps that you don't need or disable them.
Odex your /system apps. This will free up quite a lot of space in the /data/dalvik-cache folder which again will give you more room for apps. There are many odex scripts available on XDA to choose from and probably even some apps in the play store. You can also try out my flashable zip here (md5sum: 04320206ec11669b2da2f5340bb647f2). Flash it after flashing GApps.
Known Bugs
Battery calibration issue on first boot causes charging to stop at 90%. Charging is normal after reboot. (Appears fixed now)
It has been reported that some bluetooth devices will fail to connect.
It has been reported that some VOIP apps will not work (Line/Skype).
It has been reported that call recording apps will not work.

Good features! Thanks mate!
^^Hello, fellow Minchanin.
Xda: devdb? What does that green banner mean?
Are there any collaborative efforts between you and dexter?
Hello,
First off many thanks for your great work & contribution!
I would need S2W or a similar feature as the "Volume Rocker Wake" feature does not work in Slimkat. Would you have any recommendation for a custom kernel that I could flash that has such a feature?
Thank you.
what about cpu undervolt? is it working on this rom?
For sure, just tested this rom and its absolutely fast! With Lionheart governor and Sio I/O scheduler. But one question @LordNerevar, which option is the best for Multi-Core power savings?

Sultan's kernel had S2W for awhile but it caused lockups/reboots. I'll see if I can find why the Volume Rocker Wake doesn't work.

I believe that is a custom Sultan feature that I haven't implemented. I take it you found it beneficial?

ye, i think that battery drain is the major problem of aosp roms... so a fewer cpu voltage could help
btw thank you for still develop for our device :good:

Thank you. Let me outline what has happened so far: Clean install of Slimkat (v7.9) with a formatted SD card and the system fully wiped. "Volume Rocker Wake" is enabled, however, only works for a few seconds after the screen has turned off. It also works perfectly when the phone is connected to a USB charger.
Occasionally the wake function would work even when the phone isn't charging, but this happens fairly randomly, no obvious pattern.
First of all, great rom!
Feels smooth and a lot of features.
But....... what about the resolution?
statusbar clock and such is really small, icons in appdrawer too, it almost looks like the resoltion is set to high.
When using google stock launcher the icons are normal but statusbar is still much smaller then the stock rom.
Is this changeable?

simply change density in build.prop to 240
Alternatively use TexDroid to change DPI to 240.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texdroider.texdroider_dpi&hl=de
You need to grant root access in order for the tool to work.
Thanks for answering questions everyone! I've started an FAQ on the OP for the ones I've seen often on the Official SlimKat ROM thread.
I was able to fix the volume rocker wake bug in the kernel. It's working for me with and without a secure lockscreen enabled. Try it out if you need it. That along with all the 8.2 goodness from the Slim team is available in the 2nd post.
No way... Thank you very much! I shall give it a try tonight. I am very excited!
Just out of curiousity... What is a bug and if so what exactly was the problem?
Also would it make sense to report this back to the Slim Team, so they can fix this as well? I have seen other posts that report similar problems.
Thank you for you great support!
LordNerevar, your latest version fixed the volume rocker issue. Even better I did not have to clean-install, I simply upgraded from Dexter93's version 7.9 to yours and my phone works perfectly. I am more than happy and this has breathed new life into my old Sensation. Thank you very much!
Perhaps you can join forces with Dexter in that you let him know how you eliminated this bug?
Good job!
Upon closer examination of the code, I found that you can actually set /sys/keyboard/vol_wakeup to 1 and enable Volume Rocker Wake under Settings->Display as normal. This should even work with the Official versions. I will add this ability to the 89kernel init script.
Thank you, LordNerevar. Guess that is the fix I have been looking for. I never noticed that file.
Interestingly mine is still set to zero, but volume wake works nonetheless with your latest version.

That's correct. My latest version bypasses the need for that file. However, that file does serve a purpose and I was actually going to implement it when I found it already available. The purpose is that if you don't want volume rocker wake, having that tunable will keep the phone in sleep mode if the volume buttons are pressed. Without that file or with that file bypassed, if you have volume rocker wake disabled in display settings the phone comes out of sleep mode and just doesn't turn on the display.
So, with my next version you will need to enable the setting in 89kernel and in display settings for it to work.

About The Roms:
NuSenseSIX Lollipop
Now fully rebased from Official m7 Sense 6 Lollipop from HTC
The original NuSenseSIX ROM was a port for the Verizon HTC One m7.
I do not own a Gsm HTC One.
But I have done my best to blindly port this over and will do my best to make it as functional as I can.
All I ask for, is detailed feedback. :good:
The rom should be very functional, but this Gsm version is untested.
It was made from an odex system dump.
It has been deodexed and modified for your device and network.
I hope you enjoy NuSenseSIX!

Link is fine.
If you are not s-off, you may need to fastboot flash the boot.img.
The boot.img is somewhat created/modified through your aroma options though, so that may or may not work, you'd have to try it.
If you end up having to try the fastboot flash method, you'll want the one in the boot_gsm folder.

I saw some added support for that feature in the base, but I don't know if it specifically supports T-Mobile or not.

How about battery life?
Well got it installed using TWRP latest version on a GSM device, nice aroma, had a bit of a hick up at the beginning com.android settings process has stopped, so I had no mobile data, connected to wifi fine after that and also my Bluetooth watch, had to go into mobile data and reset my access point to get mobile data working due to the earlier process error, rebooted and stuck at the white HTC screen with the red warning. , holding down the power button for 15 blinks reset the device and booted after that.
I'm stuck at the boot splash. It boots because I can turn on/off the screen and I hear the volume change sound. The setup does not show up, all I'm seeing is the boot splash.

Try and manually restart by holding down power button.
Different kernel configs will need a second boot after install.

I did 3 times, I know this from flar2's kernel. No luck though. If it helps, I picked the blue Google spinning splash.

OK, Thanks. I'll try a different set of options later tonight.

For the kernel I just set everything to stock, im not into overclocking my phone, Lollipop is plenty fast enough for me, set the Android L boot animation, removed most widgets and Google / HTC apps I never use and class as bloat, used HTC launcher with gap fix etc, first boot took somtime, 2nd boot frozen and needed the power button holding down to reset, 3rd and 4th has booted fine, flashed with TWRP 2.8.4.0, just tyo give you some idea of the settings I used.
